So, I was at the New Orleans show with my 15 year old daughter. It was her first theater show. And they were good enough. The band sounds amazing. Powerful. It's so great having Eric back. Perry however, was there vocally but he can't hit things anywhere near the way he used to. And there was a bit of rambling. But you can tell either the years of rampant drug use or something else physically is going to work on him. Yes he's 65, can't bounce around like he used to like a wild Banshee on stage, but he looked a little lost. Now Perry has a few years on the rest of the boys, but they are all in really great shape for being in their late 50s. Perry being 6 or 7 years older than most of the band, just looks rough. And 65 is 65, physically, from a distance, he looks okay, but his mental state is definitely affected by something and physically he looks like he has, the only way I can describe it is like nerve damage or something. I wouldn't be surprised if he has some sort of serious neurological things going on, that he may or may not know about. And then there is the fact of whether or not he is abusing substances. Now my daughter and I met the whole Band by the bus long after the gig. We met Perry last and he was very cordial and polite. Was very interested in talking to my 15 year old daughter who is a drummer. He took photos with her. And he didn't seem drunk or anything after the show. Which makes me wonder all the more, if he doesn't have neurological issues or something going on. The rest of the band were Charming as well at the buses. It was amazing, myself, to meet and shake hands with Eric Avery. I have always been a huge fan of him. After the New York debacle, what happened last night is so incredibly disappointing, but not surprising. Perry's wife just needs to mind her business. She posted what she posted and just keeps answering fans back and getting into it. If I were her I would just plead the fifth. Not helping the situation at all. Really not her place. Let the 4 members answer eventually.
That’s really cool I’m glad you and your daughter got to meet them. Seems the band could be done and over now or at least that’s what the hubbub is. Thanks for sharing cool memory
@RetroFury1 yeah and what's shocking is his wife defended his mild drinking on instagram. If the fact is he's drinking, he is a recovering addict whether it was 30 years ago or 5 years ago. As an addict you shouldn't be messing around with any sort of substance. So if he was drinking again, he should know better. It's sad all around because it was just announced through Rolling Stone that the tour is canceled. And it would not surprise me if Dave and Eric are totally done.
@lilirishgrl yeah it was pretty amazing seeing them, meeting them. I haven't seen them since 91 when I was 18 years old at Lollapalooza one. My daughter thought they were simply amazing. I didn't point out the things about Perry during the performance to her at all. She didn't notice, and was a little short so I don't think she could really see Perry struggling physically or anything. And his vocals, he's always put so much echo on them that it worked alright that night. He's never had the strongest voice. So his wife using his losing his voice and tinnitus and vocal levels as excuses is completely ridiculous. If anything it feels like his voice was failng so bad, and his behavior is so erratic, that by the Boston show, they were probably intentionally drowning him out. If he had real issues, they could have canceled a handful of dates and figured it out. Rescheduled. It wasn't a long tour. So it's really sad that his wife even felt the need to say anything. It was actually just announced Through a Rolling Stone article that The rest of the tour is canceled. And it would not surprise me if Dave and Eric Are just done. They both seem over it. Jane's just seem to be one of those bands that history repeats itself. Very unfortunate.
@@EMarrs42 i completely agree with everything you said. Wife didn’t need to comment. The band’s comments were enough and frankly the only ones that matter. We have all seen this before in our lives, a relationship that just doesn't work anymore. Perry is carrying personal grudges and his alcoholism amplifies those grudges. Time for a divorce fellows.

Good work Danny. Great video footage of the show and captioning. Your video is the best coverage of this incident on the web, much better than the major media outlets.
I saw them at UA-cam Theatre and Perry and Dave didn't acknowledge each other. I told my girl that night they are not getting along. Perry sounded off and his stage presence and lame rants were huge bummer! I said that night and again today Perry is not right and AVERY PERKINS NAVARRO are masterclass musicians!
Hi!! Great video!! My Sister and I just saw them on September 5th, 2024 in Portsmouth, Virginia. It was a good concert. No issues. I hope Perry can work through his issues. Props to Dave for not feeding into the craziness!! 🥰
Perry's wife released a statement. She said it was due to Perry not being able to hear himself on stage and feeling like the band was a lot louder than his voice. That caused him to go on a tantrum, I guess. Shame.
Perry can't sing the way he used to... He's an older guy now... He's been complaining that he's had to strain his voice to sing over the band but they didn't do anything to help him. He got drunk and lost his shit.
Yeah bro all they have to do is turn up is mic and his monitor on stage. Also if he is wearing in ear I’m sure he’s not that aware of the actual stage volume. It’s not about being older probably didn’t take care of his voice
First Perry lost his voice, now he's losing his mind. Well that was short. Here comes the end of the "all original members reunion tour". The old bassist returns & the rest go back to their old ways,
Perry is just a weird dude period. My husband and I have been around him a few times with friends of friends and I never was interested in getting to know them. (Him and his stuck up wife). No thanks.
I saw this at a Porno For Pyros show in Buffalo, NY 1998. He walked out with a bottle of wine in a wicker type of thing and a pineapple hat. Very entertaining yet very strange. This made me go back in time.
Oh God, total flashback. I LOVED that Porno for Pyros first(only?) album. I'm gonna have to play it for old times sake and to mourn the obvious breakup of an epic band.
Sorry it’s more than alcohol, unfortunately I was told by a very reliable source, he is back on heroin, and basically has been on a bad bender since the AC show on sept 7th, that is why Tuesday the 10th NYC show was sooo bad. I was at the Tuesday show and left 45 minutes in. It was so sad and dark and you could see the frustration on the rest of the band members :(
Allegedly Perry's wife said he was having vocal issues & couldn't hear himself. The band turned up to drown Perry out making things worse for him. Not making excuses, violence is never the answer
A little backstory on the band: they all suffered from severe addiction back when they first started in the mid-80s which went on for years. They all finally got sober at some point in the 90s, when Perry started Lollapalooza and they became pretty successful and productive. Perry was completely abstinent for many years, but i remember reading articles with him talking about drinking wine more and more and downplaying the problem. He had a blowup about 10-15 years ago on Facebook degrading his wife but the post was deleted almost immediately. This is just the progression of his alcoholism spilling over into his professional life where he can't separate the two anymore. If he doesnt get sober it'll only get worse likely, as alcoholism is a chronic, progressive, and typically fatal disease.
Alcohol or not I’ve not seen Perry ever say anything lucid. He is a terrible live singer and all in all is way too impressed with himself. Let’s face it 2 good albums in about 40 years and he’s a legend? Cmon
Don't agree with the subtitles here bro. Looks like he's saying fuck him and fuck him and pointing to Dave and then Eric. Then he starts screaming as though trying to be heard. Seemed like he thought his vocals were too low in the mix. Obviously, thats not how you handle that. You shouldn't put up subtitles if you cant be SURE what's being said though.
There is TOXICITY in and amongst , not only individually, but within that group's dynamics... Sometimes, as difficult as it may be, you know you must walk away from that which is toxic.. Tomorrow is a new day, Live in peace with happiness..
Perry has always drank a bottle of wine. You can go way back in the day and that’s just what he does. There’s also rumors of Perry having an opiate problem plus he has tinnitus. Apparently he couldn’t hear his vocals through the monitors very well and some of the fans in the front row were telling Perry that they couldn’t hear him either, so he went off. Thankfully, Dave kept his cool and Eric went over to restrain Perry and threw some punches of his own.
It's called Lead Singer Syndrome. Lots of bands struggled with it, Van Halen just to name one. The Guitar Center video 14 years ago was the last time Perry sounded polished when they did Jane Says live.
I saw them at the Shindig Festival in Baltimore in 2014 and he still sounded fantastic. Maybe not like his early stuff but he could still pretty much belt it out like he used to. Sad to see what alcoholism and anger does to a person.
The guitar didn't block the swing. That would have hurt Perry's hand quite a bit. He would have aimed at his face if he was actually attempting to hurt Navarro physically. He's obviously going through tough times. I wish him well. Mental health is important.
Dude is 65 yrs old!!! He's blessed to still be alive with his battles with serious drug and alcohol abuse for decades! I'm sure it's all taking a toll on Perry.
Yep I know all about that. Perry is friends with my friends (I have been around him) and many of us have been down that rocky road. I have been sober 30 plus years. He is fortunate to still be here, many of our friends (in common) are no longer here because of addictions, including my husband who just passed.
I saw Jane’s at rooftop 9-11-24 The band was so tight his vocals would get lost every now and again, which is understandable for someone who is 65 and the crowd was singing along, and he even yelled at a guy that got upset with another fan in the crowd saying there’s no fighting James addiction concertsmake up and there’s always tomorrow but he does drink a lot of wine. It’s a shame because they are a very iconic band.
Saw them in Hollywood Florida a few weeks ago and they were fantastic. Yes, Perri seemed a little off, but I just thought it was his goofy self. He didn’t seem particularly inebriated or anything. He had a bottle of wine and he talked about it, but he never drank from it. it was more like a prop yeah very strange. Sorry to see this happen.
After so many years and attempts to reunite and finish a tour, the other members may just to accept that there's no way they can continue trying to work with Farrell.
I was in Durant Oklahoma at the choctaw casino. I am only 23 years old it was my first time really getting the chance to experience this band and to hear what has happened really breaks my heart. But yes even in that performance he had consumed a lot of red wine. He had it up on stage and Perry did seem a little aggressive.
I first saw Jane's Addiction a little before Nothing;s Shocking came out. In a club in Athens, GA. The band hasn't sounded as good as that for a long time. Then Eric comes back and the band's never sounded better. But Perry is strung out and drunk and fallen victim to his own hubris.
My first thoughts after hearing of this yesterday is the feeling of being heartbroken...methinks alcohol is a factor. I saw them almost 2 years ago in DC and they utterly slayed. I never knew there might be 'issues'...
Pathetic, I grew up with many people who grew up in this scene (that know Perry and I have been around him) and are famous. I will never agree with this. He is just a few years younger than me, I would never think of acting like that. No excuses.
This is exactly what happened. Perry thought the mix was too loud that night and the last entire five shows. He felt the guitars and drums were blaring over his vocals causing him to yell instead of sing. He asked them guys to turn the mix down and they did not do so. So as they were doing a lead break. Just started yelling f*** you to the basist and to Navarro. While Dave Navarro kept Perry at arms length and tried to defuse the situation, the bass player ran over there put him in a headlock and punched him three times in the stomach before the crew member pulled him off of him. I'm going to say that's probably their last show.
Yeah but he a senior now. Time to give it up or it will give him up. My husband passed from his long time addictions recently. Perry and I have friends in common who we've lost to addictions.
it was planned to sell more tickets - if you ask any 40 to 60 year old to name 3 janes addiction songs they cant without using the web , now they might sell 500 more tickets a night

This was always the case, but Perry's vocals were what made the emotion come through and made Jane's such an alternative masterpiece of a band.
Looks like the plastic surgeon gave Perry an angry face.
Farrell had clearly lost his mind. This wasn’t a “fight”.
Thanks for sharing. Watching the fight makes Farrell look like a drunk.
I’ll still listen to Jane’s Addiction because I love music that kicks ass like that! I’m into 90s alt & grunge anyway. Haven’t heard anything new that even comes close but I try and keep an open mind lol
We have all seen this before in our lives, a relationship that just doesn't work anymore. Perry is carrying personal grudges and his alcoholism amplifies those grudges. Time for a divorce fellows.
You got that right.
They got the first divorce right in 1991
This is not the first time... Actually Perry punched Dave in the face backstage which led to Jane's addiction to originally break up
Off to rehab...
Follow the white brick road 😂
Therapist on speed dial.😅
Very unprofessional behavior by Perry
It's just a shame, forget professionalism , to see someone so upset inside, I hope he's gonna feel better
I saw Jane’s addiction when Perry Ferrel started Lolla Palloza in Mountain View California. Very first show ever. Only line up never matched since. Rest Lolla Palloza shows were poser. Jane’s Addition was fire as were all the bands. True punk . Not the shit lineups nowadays due to Jane’s addiction not running it anymore. Clearly Perry has a drinking problem. Give the man a break. You’re young sir. Don’t k know what you’re talking about and haven’t seen the original band like I did.
@@kariropel5684What did he say wrong? Dan said he didn’t know and “if anyone does comment below…” - Geez dude… he’s just reporting that it happened
Eric Avery had held back for decades. Bet that felt good.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
😂😂😂
100% the first thing i thought. 30 years of angst in three punches.
PF has absolutely been the worst part of JA since they reformed. The eternal addict whose lost his voice to the years.
He finally got his chance😂
As a bass player who punched one of his singers for acting like a four year old(I warned him), it's gratifying shutting them the fk up & knocking that ego to the ground. Get some Eric...
I bought my son and I tickets for tonight's concert in Bridgeport Connecticut for his twenty first birthday gift. And now they canceled it.
Thanks Perry...
You're a class act pal
I was going to that myself. The Amp. Sad😢
Kinda glad tho bc they sound awful
I have been around Perry and he is strange. Never really wanted to get to know him or his wife even though they are friends of my friends. I knew I was right in my gut. Sheesh
He seemed like your average street lunatic here in southern CA. Their all over the streets
Probanlvoted biden.😅
Good work Danny. Great video footage of the show and captioning. Your video is the best coverage of this incident on the web, much better than the major media outlets.
One of the best bands ever!!! Sad to see this
Perry Farrell looks like he has some inner demons to deal with
Perry Farrell-Peripheral
He’s lucky that Dave didn’t punch his lights out…Dave handled it pretty well actually..Perry obviously needs help.
Shame.
They turned him down cause he was singing like shite
Right! Way to go at being an enabler. Not surprised, my husband and I have been around them personally. He is using. He needs help.
Perry can't sing the way he used to... He's an older guy now... He's been complaining that he's had to strain his voice to sing over the band but they didn't do anything to help him. He got drunk and lost his shit.
if that's true, get with the sound engineers/mixers, that's not his bandmates' job
No thanks.
Perry's Addiction
Right?! 😬
Good one
I love Jane's and love them both. Thanks for keeping us caught up!
Drugs are a hell of a drug man
Somehow I don't believe this kid actually knows the reason.
I don't think anyone does, maybe not even Perry.
Not very professional to go onstage drunk , The dude has a problem.
Never ruined my memory of the 1990 tour with reunions
Sorry it’s more than alcohol, unfortunately I was told by a very reliable source, he is back on heroin, and basically has been on a bad bender since the AC show on sept 7th, that is why Tuesday the 10th NYC show was sooo bad. I was at the Tuesday show and left 45 minutes in. It was so sad and dark and you could see the frustration on the rest of the band members :(
Hi wife is enabling again. My husband and I have been around these people many times and I have never been impressed at all. Perry get some help now!
Dude was blitzed out of his mind. Sad for the band.
There was no fight … Perry was drunk and acted up. Navarro kept his cool to Perry’s luck.
Dave 100% professional. If Perry did that to Keith Richards, he'd be having the guitar surgically removed still.
Whatever that dude's taking, he needs to reduce the dosage 🤣
anyone considered the effect of Botox on the brain?
“Farrell” Perry
Bahaha 😂
Feral
Wow great report ! If I had not heard it from you I would have thought that was just acting if I saw just the video of the scene ! Thank you 🙏
Happened on Friday the 13th
its like the roadies knew that this was eventually going to happen
You know he has this tendency as the way the security came in it looked like they were expecting this or have seen it before.
Agro and immature as hell. Pathetic. I have spent time around him and he could be mellow but always very strange.
@@LAwoman1956 bad childhood
Allegedly Perry's wife said he was having vocal issues & couldn't hear himself. The band turned up to drown Perry out making things worse for him. Not making excuses, violence is never the answer
Under the influence isn't either.
Thank you for that super insightful report.
Perry does not have what it takes to be ink master
Dave Navarro is the man, kept the peace and composure and tried to save the show...Perry needs rehab
Hey psssst...
It's Fair-uhhl...not Fair-El..Perry Fair- Uhl.
Just fyi😅😊❤
He could now form "Perry's Addiction Exprience"... wow that sounds almost too right.
Cash in now, Honey ,
Cash in now...
I love that Perkins had his childhood friend’s back.
Yes, I was there and he definitely said "fuck him, fuck him" pointing to Eric and Dave
Aren't we all,, Screaming as trying to be heard,,,
There is TOXICITY in and amongst , not only individually, but within that group's dynamics...
This is sad. he's got tinnitus and thinks the players are playing too loudly, he should go to the techs!
That wasn’t a fight.
… that was the singer assaulting the guitarist.
Saw them in Houston, and they were on point. Perfect show really. It’s time for a Deconstruction tour now Eric and Dave.
Let Perry be Perry. He spends more on wine than you do on rent. Those two have been fighting since the late 80's.
THIS IS SO SAD THE END IS NEAR OF COURSE HE TOTALLY LOST IT MAN HE NEED HELP FOR SURE
Perry Farrell... Never liked him, and never will.
I have been around him a few times and never cared to get to know him, my gut is right. Just has big issues. Bad vibes is all I got.
he is not well
My high school senior quote was from a Jane’s Addiction song…”If you want a friend, feed any animal”…Juanes
Rumor is that Eric Avery backstage had to put Perry Farrell in the headlock after this footage.
It was Friday the 13th😞
Yeah I was saying that to myself also Friday the 13th
Kudos to the guitar player for not engaging him.
The guitar didn't block the swing. That would have hurt Perry's hand quite a bit. He would have aimed at his face if he was actually attempting to hurt Navarro physically. He's obviously going through tough times. I wish him well. Mental health is important.
Perry needs to go surfing.
🌊🏄🏻♂️
Dude is 65 yrs old!!! He's blessed to still be alive with his battles with serious drug and alcohol abuse for decades! I'm sure it's all taking a toll on Perry.
Yep I know all about that. Perry is friends with my friends (I have been around him) and many of us have been down that rocky road. I have been sober 30 plus years. He is fortunate to still be here, many of our friends (in common) are no longer here because of addictions, including my husband who just passed.
@@LAwoman1956 Stay strong, and prioritize health and family! Glad you're well! ☺️
Sorry to see this happen.
time for them to stick to bingo night at the old folks home
you got some great views on this... keep it up dude, you have a great personality
Dude, you didn't exist when JA mattered.
And WTF does that matter? Dumbest comment ever! Frustrated boomer ...
like he doesn't know that
I first saw Jane's Addiction a little before Nothing;s Shocking came out. In a club in Athens, GA. The band hasn't sounded as good as that for a long time. Then Eric comes back and the band's never sounded better. But Perry is strung out and drunk and fallen victim to his own hubris.
They should change the band name to "Perry's Addiction"
My first thoughts after hearing of this yesterday is the feeling of being heartbroken...methinks alcohol is a factor. I saw them almost 2 years ago in DC and they utterly slayed. I never knew there might be 'issues'...
Aw, such a shame. I think they're such a cool band, and Porno For Pyros too... I hope he gets back on the right track
Crank up that mic, bro.
Yet Another video on this explaining ? what we already know. Thanks
He is an OG punk/alternative rock star. Mayhem, drugs, booze, and aggression are not new to the scene.
Pathetic, I grew up with many people who grew up in this scene (that know Perry and I have been around him) and are famous. I will never agree with this. He is just a few years younger than me, I would never think of acting like that. No excuses.
Sign of the times when guys in there 60s are having to act like a dysfunctional rock n roll band and not young 20 somethings
Dave Navarro just turn 57 years old. Not in his 60s yet
@@abelmontalvo4052 I stand corrected...
Thanks for the commentary.. stating the obvious. And as for the 'deep dive', we don't need it, thanks :)
Honestly, Nothing's Shocking about this.
Yeah but he a senior now. Time to give it up or it will give him up. My husband passed from his long time addictions recently. Perry and I have friends in common who we've lost to addictions.
may all beings be free of suffering
Aw that's so right, it's so sad to see someone hurting so much
Life is suffering
