Played the original back in 1997 when I was 5. Beat it when I was 8. Rebirth and the remake trilogy is one of the best experiences in the gaming industry. Rebirth’s quality is INSANE. I loved the ending. I can’t wait for the third one.

Not spoiling here but to help someone digest the ending better and not just the ending but everything that happens after the Temple collapsed into the crater and the weirdness that ensues, you have to switch your perspective to Cloud which is the players perspective, and then outside of Cloud for the other scenes, and back to Cloud again, basically Cloud or the player character is seeing things from a different perspective from everyone else.

FF7R characters are so well done. I love it. Welcome to the club. I'm 37 and played the original in the '90s, though honestly I forgot a lot of the story and I don't want to remember. It's like experiencing it all over again. As to Aerith in the original, she straight-up dies, it's not ambiguous. I'd love her to survive in remake personally.

After part three comes out, definitely watch Advent Children. I know many people would disagree with me, but let me tell you it was my entrance into this universe, and I love the film.

The thing is 90% of the side quests are quality and just add to the overall experience. Doing everything, for me at least, was so rewarding.

I watched this video while lazing on a Sunday afternoon and found it very thought provoking. I don’t remember having anticipation and excitement for specific albums, but I certainly did have it for specific groups, and anything new they would release, I wanted it…for groups whose entire portfolios I had listened to and thought they were that good. But there were limits. Queen for example released album after album with each one being nothing short of outstanding, but when Hot Space came out it was too far from where they had come from and too far down a path I thought they hadn’t wanted to go down, and at that point I lost my enthusiasm for anything forthcoming from them. Back then we only had records, and playing both sides all the way through was just what you did, and as a result you heard everything from that group. Everything. Yes Danny you are young but you are absolutely right on when you say to listen to a group’s entire discography in order to get a complete picture of their music. It’s important. I certainly believe I shared the same excitement as you, just for a slightly different reason. Thank you for sharing, and thank you for another great video Danny!

2nd Night at Wembley 2000. I already loved that song, had removed myself from the melee and crush at the front. Liam was so incomprehensible centre stage. And then Gas Panic hits mid set. That was the song where I looked out over the crowd, the cool breeze started to come in, the skies finally went dark with the summer sun receding and it all made sense. It was quite a moment.

Speaking as a 1997 player - I LOVE everything they are doing with the remakes. Like many, I simply wanted a 1:1 remaster but am now glad the devs chose to meander a bit and subvert expectations. Part 3 can't come soon enough

Here's something from another musician & youtuber axebro! I hope you play FFXIV. My favorite story of gaming. I'm someone who grew up on OG FFVII and it was my favorite game of all time for years. I love Remake and Rebirth especially. So if you like that, 14 will absolutely blow your mind. It's an MMO but focues primarily on story. Once you get to the 1st expansion Heavensward, it's become great and 3rd and 4th expansions Shadowbringers & Endwalker are legit the best story that I ever experienced! Genuinely changed my life. If you like Rebirth that might, I HIGHLY encourage you. Even though it's a completely different game.

The ultimania confirms that she did die in Rebirth. Cloud is in denial. It’s why we can’t hear what he said directly after, because he wasn’t even hearing himself. They’re gearing up to make Clouds coming to his senses that much more powerful than the original. Not only will he find out and accept what happened 5 years ago, but he will also have to accept Aerith being gone. Also I hope you do play the original. It’s a top tier game.

Being an old fan, I can say both Remake and Rebirth are amazing, but there is this nagging feeling that… they could have been more, if they added less. They nail the hardest stuff (gameplay, characterization, the enviroments…), even recriate and expand the story beautifully… but then add some multidminesional bullshit that clashes horribly with the tone of the original story. IMO at least.

The ending isn't even "that" confusing if you take a moment and think about what happened. (Excluding the stuff that is intentional vague for part 3 of course) People nowadays just want everything explained to them, down to the smallest detail, so they don't have to think themselves. Very simplified, for me, it's pretty clear that Aerith died and Cloud is just completely messed up in his head. Even more than before. Either he actively denies Aeriths death in his head and just imagines her, or he can still see her, because he is somehow desynched from the timeline. He seems to be not on the same plain as the rest of the crew anymore. (That's atleast my take on why he sees the crack in the sky) Like they got desynched when Cloud stepped through the wall of whispers or sth, because unlike the first time in Remake, this time he was the only one who stepped through that portal made of whispers. - But we will find out more about that in part 3 I guess. There is another possibility, that the Aerith we see after her death is not Aerith at all, and instead a "ghost" or "hallucination" that Sephiroth created to further destroy Clouds mind. You can also hear in the Jenova bossfight how the Jenova theme slowly takes over Aeriths theme. Like it's trying to imitate it or absorb it. And most of the Zack stuff with multiple timelines doesn't really matter. The fact they show us SO many different timelines means that it really doesn't matter, because that is exactly what Sephiroths goal is too - to merge every single world/timeline.
