  • How to make different sized beanie hats on the Addi knitting machine. I've been asked so many times if we can make different sized hats on the Addi, and the answer is, yes we can, and in this video I show you how
For these beanies, I did 70 rounds with the pink yarn and 70 rounds of the silver yarn
These beanies are made on the Addi Express King Size knitting machine... I've had mine for nearly 7 years, and made thousands of hats and scarves on it for charity... and it's still going strong!
    **********************************************************
They do sell out of these machines very quickly, especially around Christmas time, so there might be a bit of a wait for them to come back in stock.
    **********************************************************
This is my affiliate link where I bought mine from Amazon - amzn.to/3RuDMnu

I find the Stylecraft Special DK works really well in the Addi Knitting machine, I get mine from here - www.lovecrafts...

I hope you enjoy experimenting with the tension in the hats you make on your own knitting machines, I have given just a few examples of some different size hats that I made to show you how it can be done.
Please do share which yarns work best for you on the Addi Knitting machine. 🧶🌹

I've had the lg Addi for years BUT had to come back to say thank you so much. Never knew about the tension I was just taught to NOT hold any tension at all. Now after watching you video, I am now making the perfect babies /toddlers' hats. Myself and my grandbabies thank you so very much.

THIS was one of the most helpful videos I've watched! Just got a Sentro, and my first hat had DOZENS of tucked stitches!! I was using minimal tension, and a slow speed. I didn't want to break the machine. I just made a 140 row reversible hat in about an hour (had to take some breaks to rest my arm!) and it came out PERFECT! I used snug tension, like your 2nd hat, and only had ONE tucked stitch!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

I am so pleased to have found your video. It has been difficult to get a demonstrator on the internet from the UK. I have learned a lot from the American demonstrators, but it all falls apart when they tell you what yarns works well in the machines because it's a lot more expensive to buy here. That's no meant to be a criticism of them, it is just a fact. I hand knit and crochet too and really love Stylecraft yarns, especially the Special DK. It comes in every colour you could imagine and I have lots of ball ends and will be trying them out now I have heard you recommend them. Until a couple of years ago I was also machine knitting on the Japanese flat bed machines but my arthritis has stopped that. I decided to try a circular machine because I had heard a local appeal for hats for the homeless and would love to be able to make them as quickly as I used to on the flat beds. I bought the Sentro machine just a few days before Christmas, when I saw it at a well reduced price, and didn't get time to play with it until now. It's very different to any craft I have tried before and that pleases me as I do like to learn new things all the time. My mission tomorrow is to set myself up with your video and make my first hat. Many thanks Tilly.

Gracias, yo por lo general las hago 8Para adultos) en la tención mas suelta para que no marque el tejido la piel de la frente cuando te quitas la gorra. Gracias por tu demostración, me sirvió mucho.

Hi there. Thank you for your tutorial on this. I'm struggling to make a beanie for myself with a head circumference of 56 cm or 22 inches. How many rows should I knit my beanie?

Tilly said in this video that the second hat fits her head and hers is 22in or 56cm, and each beanie is a total of 140 rows

Since 2020 I have been having problems with dropped stitches and snagged stitches. I have had my machine for over 7 years and although I had a break for a year due to not being able to get yarn , I have had yarn from all over the world. I know how to tension and hold my yarn. I can only surmise that the quality of manufacture has gone down whilst the price has significantly altered.

I love the colours you chose. I have mariner dk ply and find that one very often snags stitches . I had a beautiful French yarn and that just double stiches despite tension and weight. In the end I crocheted a hat to the size required. With broken thumbs I find Hand Knitting hard to do. I also use a very cheep Majestic yarn and have had more success with a ball of yarn costing £1.29 as against some that have been up to £5.00. If I go for a wool yarn I sometimes go over that price but usually for Alpaca.

Can you make the hats with one hand? And can you put it on the spinner on the left side? I have to figure out how I’m going to do the tension because I have one arm.

I love my Addi Express. However, the machine has a lot of personality. Medium 4 weight does not work at all. Mandala cakes work well, Bravo from Schachenmayer and Royal from Zeeman. 240 to 260 meters per 100 gramms of acrylic yarn works the best. Thank you for your tutorial. It will help many beginners.

What I really need to know, because I would be buying the machine to make hats for my local shelter, does it make hats that fit Mens heads? Without being too tight or stretched too much?

Thank you for explaining! I just got my machine and I couldn’t figure out why my medium yarn is so hole-y when all I see is tight weaved projects of similar yarn. I guess I just wasn’t holding my yarn tension correctly.

I've had my Addi for one year. I've made hundreds of beanies and a couple of toys. I have the most success with Big Twist Value yarn from JoAnn, Lion. Brands Mandala yarn (3 weight) and Red Heart Soft. I have a question though. My stitches are beginning to look sloppy. I've adjusted my tension and the Addi is properly affixed to my table. Their not normal dropped stitches. I mean I'll have a row here and a row there that loose. Does anyone have any questions?

It's more changing the hole sizes you making in the hats, If I would make some propper sizes, I would have to buy probably the smaller machines. 🤔
It's a shame that's not a multi Maschine 4hst could make Frome smaller sizes to bigger.
