How many rows to knit for an adult and child size hat on a circular knitting machine? In this video, I'll show you how I make "Mommy and Me" hat sets-although this would work well for "Daddy and Me" or "Grandma and Me" or any other combo!
I used a Sentro knitting machine, but this would work well on an Addi knitting machine, or any other hat sized (around 48 needle) circular knitting machine.
This video is for beginners, and will show you how to knit a beanie on a knitting machine from beginning to end.
    SUPPLIES:
    -Knitting Machines-
My 48 needle Sentro knitting machine (pictured in video):
    amzn.to/3aMmsZi
Jamit 48 needle knitting machine (alternative):

(When will the Addi Express King be available again? I can't wait to try it whenever it's back in stock!)

    -Yarn-
    Loops & Threads "Aran" (Beige)
    amzn.to/3aLHlU9
Loops & Threads "Soft Rose" Yarn 3 pack (pink)*:
    amzn.to/3dD13U7
*I used 1 skein of each color for this project.

    Darning needles:
    amzn.to/3uaW8zs
    -Extras-
    Fingerless gloves*: amzn.to/2ZgHUif
*My fingerless gloves are regular fashion gloves that I wear to help the camera focus-not medical or arthritis gloves. Those gloves do exist, however, and some knitters do wear them while they knit to help with aches and pains. But the gloves linked above are regular gloves.

Looks like I’ve taken up the same hobby my Mom loved - making hats. She did all her hats by hand, which adds that touch of love but I wanted to take it up a notch by getting down quicker 😊 … Recently, lost my job due to health issues so I decided to learn how to crochet & a bell went off in my head to make hats like my Mom used to. Your video was so easy to follow, I can’t wait to make hats & scarves 🥰 - thanks for sharing!

You can achieve a finished look by wet blocking the hats. It’s what I do for all my yarn work. I use the steam from my iron holding it over, but not touching, the work and tapping the stitches even. Then I pin the piece down on a blocking board and with a small fan or hair dryer, begin gently drying it. I let it sit for 24 hours so the fibers will set properly in place. You can also use a small garment steamer for this method. I have a little cheap one I got from Amazon or Walmart that works well. I made a wool cardigan on my Incredible Sweater Machine and blocked it. I then lined it with double-brushed thick fleece but blocked the main piece first then inserted the constructed, sewn fleece inside. It came out so well my friends thought it was store-bought. Please don’t give up on the machine and your ability to make someone happy with a thing you’ve so lovingly made. Just take your time “playing” with it until you get the hang of it. Let your Inner Child take over, maybe, to help you enjoy your creativity? And no, I don’t work for the machine’s manufacturer, nor do I know the young lady of this channel; I’m just another fiber artist who has plenty of experience with hand and machine knitting. God Bless you! 🙏🏽

@@acolon4617 Good tip. Blocking is key. You don't need a special blocking board...straight pins into an ironing board work just as well.

Hello, is it good for having a project? Like doing 300 or plus hats? Or is it going to break? I’m still hesitating if I should buy it or not.
If you have an idea… Thanks in advance 😊

For those with larger heads, like mine, you would want to do the adult hat on the Sentro machine. The Addi machine has less needles and a smaller gauge.... so it makes a smaller hat I can't wear hats that are made on that machine unless it's real soft yarn. Thank you so much for these patterns. I may look into getting your pattern book. I don't see anywhere the weight of the yarn you used. Is it a number 4 or number 3? I believe the Sentro is 48 needles and Addi is 44. The gauges are also different.

Hi! I always use Weight 4 yarn, it's just my preference personally. And definitely go with the Sentro if you want a larger hat. All knitting machine hats fit a little snug, but the Sentro is 2 needles larger so it's a bit bigger than the Addi for hats!

For weaving the inside and outside together are you tying a knot somewhere or no?

I got the big one and used a hole skein of yarn cuz it was fun lol I’m ready to cast off but it’s way to big. Do I have to have another machine to make hats and such? Confused. Your matching hats are beautiful

Just another question - I’ve ordered the addi machine would I be able to still do the same patterns for Mammy and daughter?
