@@Joiner113 Yes, sadly it is. Some runners splice their runs, taking individual clips and splicing them together into one. That way, they can just repeat sections over and over until they feel like they did well enough. Another somewhat common way to cheat is to create a TAS that seems human-like. So you play, rewind, play, rewind, etc. until you did everything without mistakes, or until you get perfect RNG. I'll definitely be checking out his channel. With a name like "Cheese", how could I not?
Hope you did, he just managed another legendary run, which is why I am revisiting some old favorites.
Having done competitions sick/sleep deprived, I can say it is 100% instinct that kicks in.
Cheese spent years cultivating great instincts, so even though he was exhausted, those motor skills took over and he managed to crush it.
Well done!
What sort of East Coast Aussie uploads at 1am?
One that's an absolute legend
4:21
"F-Bomb, who was the one that actually created the bounty and said that he would give,
hum- the four thousand dollars
-hum.... *hE SaAaAiiiiiid* "
Can we get one of the Break the Record events for Perfect Dark - Attack Ship - Agent? That 2:06 has stood for WAY too long!
You’re always so good at bringing the real feeling of suspense in these videos, just like when you are actually watching an actual live attempt.
I would love when events like this will get much more known so there are big events all over the world for a variety of games.
Also this video was great, keep up the great work.
Waiting for the updated version
I’ve been hyped to see Karl talk about this new record for a while. Glad it’s finally here
Time to be hyped about the video that is bound to come about Runway 21 or the boring 4 in general? :o
You know, I appreciate a whole lot how the entire video was summarized quickly in the first two minutes, answering the slightly clickbaity title with some instant gratification of what exactly happened and letting me decide if I'm interested to see more.
My man cheese clutched a wr run while suffering from stomach flu and sleep deprivation. Truly an absolute legend
You could tell when he let Bowser fly that last time he knew. Yes what a clutch run that was. Thanks for giving my boy cheese his props
Caught this early, and I'm very glad about that; your content's always top-notch, Karl.
MAN!!!! My palms and feet were sweating rivers at the end there! Great editing and narration, and of course, epic run!
Damn man. I know next to nothing about Mario speed running records, but the look on his face when he hit the 1:38... I felt that. Like when you finally broke the Dam record. The only time I've felt something half as close is when I finally found The Grizzly in Diablo 1 after more than 20 years of playing. Love your content mate. Good to see that just before 2020 you were at 100k subscribers and now you've launched up to 162k. Keep it up :-)
Amazing job w these videos brother
I teared up when he was trying his best. It's something about a human doing their best no matter what it is.... and against all odds. Just wonderful. Inspirational! thank you.
Love Cheese. Good stuff. Shout outs to the other attending/competing speedrunners as well. Everyone worked together to make the push & motivation for someone to achieve this.
"Speedrunning needs to be taken out of bedrooms"
Coronavirus: *happens*
I can't stop wanting to know more about speedrunning, since I started to follow Summoning Salt this world has been more and more interesting. Thank you for bringing us these fantastic videos about this incredible world!
Cheese talks himself down too when he is just inexplicably good
That look on his face when he saw that the last throw was good.
Dude my heart was beating out of my just chest watching it, already knowing the outcome. Can’t imagine the pressure.
My favorite part of that event was that Cheese nearly got another 1:38 on the third day, although his run fell apart upstairs.
12:43 his reaction is priceless, tear jerking :,)
You da man Cheese!!!
i get hyped when i clutch an unranked match in valorant, i cant imagine this, he’s a legend
Great job Karl, I'm not into the speed running scene at all, but you provided enough background and context to make me invested in the outcome. It was a thrilling video to watch.
but i thought I was an absolute legend :(
Hey. Hey. You're still an absolute legend in your own way.
You're still a legend in my eyes
Everybody is a legend one way or another
This comment section is so wholesome :D
It's okay to be a relative legend too!
This channel is legendary. I’m so glad it exists! I can’t believe how far speed running has come. I use to speed run Goldeneye back in the day. Facility 00 Agent was a favourite.
This video made me want to watch more speedruns.
@noo dles Thanks for taking the time to reply. I will check the channel out too.
This made me question if either of these two events have ever happened. One someone breaks a world record speedrun only for another player to finish a better run that started while the first player was on the world record run, as well as the opposite where someone beat what was the world record time only to learn that someone had lowered the world record while they were on their world record run.
This amazing moment just happened!
Me 9 months later: 😐
Same lmao
Dude you've come a long way in doing these videos. I'm so glad you started doing these yourself and really breaking down the appreciation for the pressure and history of the weight
Not really into speed running, but that was awesome. Good job Cheese!
This came on my feed just days after cheese got WR for 120 stars again breaking 1:37, a real legend
Heart rate monitors would be a nice addition to the event.
I don't need to see that, my anxiety is high enough with these runs as is x)
Why? I've seen them in other runs but is it really necessary? Who cares about their heart rate? Is it a requirement for a legitimate run?
@@MezzoForte4 Maybe they could break the record for fastest heart beat.
@@beachfitness9521 Heart attack any% no cardio run
Theyve done that for poker. It would be very interesting I'd imagine.
Very clear, informative and interesting video. Well done, thanks for taking the time to make this.
And a year later, he got the world record again
As a sports guy, no other Super Bowl/Stanley cup/world championship win has ever evoked such emotion in me as when speedrunners best these insane world records. There is something special in speedrunning, and I hope the mainstream sees it eventually. Thanks for another great video
Not a HUGE speedrun fan, but I sometimes watch your vids, they're pretty chill.
I love how you play clips in their entirety for important moments, you have an amazing feel for making these videos! Gets me emotional everytime
I love the "in 15 January 2020, Sedler achives this run" moment...this channel rules, Karl...greetings from Brazil!
these videos are amazing man
These guys will never beat my record of getting 120 stars within 1996 though
Ok
I'm my god, cheese looks so happy when he broke the record; it's so wholesome
Somebody: Damn, tomorrow we’re gonna have a maths exam! Should get ready for it!
Karl Jobst new vid: No, I don’t think so...
I feel personally attacked.
Nah, Studying for exams is basically cheating - If you study for it it wont show your true level... Thats how I made it through school.
B- All good :-)
Cheese is the best speed runner of all time. I’ve seen him break his own world record on stream multiple times. He’s a class act.
*Didn’t You Know?* It’s obvious that the record breaker won because he cut enough corners to _cheese_ it and get the WR, he’s really _gouda_ at the game to say the least ;)
I agree, he's _emmential_ player but not too _nutty_ .. And now with that cash prize, he's a bit more _rich_ , too. I look forward to seeing how his record _matures_ :P
Duude stfu
I really enjoy your channel, I work as game dev and I learning a lot from your channel! thank you and please don't stop!
I’m at work. I cannot wait to get home, put my feet up and stick this video on the big screen. Karl Jobst for president
Not sure why this video induced the amount of anxiety it did, considering I’ve played virtually no SM64, but my GOD... Congrats to Cheese. Karl, your videos are absolutely Master Class in quality. Keep it up!
He is a spanish idol! A legend every spaniard can look up to! Good Job cheese! Eres un crack y un puto amo, Viva españa!
He is not from spaon, he lives there now because his parents moved there but he is from hawai.
Viva Sweden!
You're such a hypeman, love your stuff ❣️
