Ben, great to see you pivot and get the long runs done earlier to prioritize family. Thanks for sharing the race updates and the why behind your changes, not many runners talk about the cost of races and travel. My condolences on your loss.
Cheers Reto! I fully understand why the race prices are the way they are especially with the Centurion races. They really are the best in the business in the UK but unfortunately I just can't meet those prices right now. As for travel thats been going up for a while now and in terms of flights it's the luggage allowances that really hit the pocket. Thanks for the sympathies buddy I will miss him. 😎🤘

Another solid week, especially considering the sad news, sorry to hear that mate. These race’s definitely don’t come cheap, you definitely made the right decision. Watching your Saturday long run, you pretty much ran past my house (I live on the road just behind the wotton hatch pub). Also must have just missed you as I went for a 10k run up to the tower on Saturday morning too 👍
Cheers James! Yeah I think it made more sense really. Plus we can have some time down in Eastbourne to enjoy the coast a bit too. Yeah I did think that as I was running past Wotton Hatch. I thought I might bump into you out there. No excuse not to do the Shere 42k in September because it runs right past your house 🤣👍
Very sorry to hear of your grandfather’s passing. Good choice to enter a more local race. Not all everyday runners can afford the six star lifestyle or new shoes err about 3 times a week. I hope though you have a 2nd pair of your favourite trail shoes for the race. Must be a high mud on heels risk right now.

Good to check in with you! Travel up to Scotland is expensive, chris and I were looking at going up their to do some miles but we were going to make a decent holiday of it to make it worth it!
