This SWD100 was my first 100 miler finish (I had DNF in the muddy TP100 5 weeks before). At Houghton Farm I was ready to retire. I also was sunbaked by the sun and had thrown up 4 times already. I also was already quite worried about the cut-off times. However, 2 factors gave me enormous strength and were essential and pivotal to have continued and reached the finish line. First, it was a chat with one of the volunteers, mainly motivating me to at least try to reach Washington, that I still had time to have a rest and still get there. Second it was when I saw you and Victoria arriving at Houghton Farm. At that moment I felt, ok, it’s still not too late to continue. I was pretty sure both of you would finish it, so it gave me a huge hope and strength to carry on. Thank you very much 😊 Surprisingly, soon after leaving Houghton Farm, I started to feel much better, physically and mentally. Had a great run from there to the end, I loved the night section, all the CPs and the interactions with the staff and volunteers. What a great journey it was. By the way, it’s me at minute 15:00 running next to you on that big hill after Houghton Farm. Congratulations, huge thanks for the great video. It's very important to show all the sides of ultra running, not only the finish line celebrations. Good luck for tomorrow 👍
Incredible perseverance and tenacity. Huge Congratulations. I ran the Sussex Weald 50K that day and it was brutal and it was less than a 3rd of what you achieved. Great respect!
Congrats to you both; I love the footage of the UK, and it always makes me a little homesick. One of these days, I'll head back to the UK and race. When I do, you'll be the first person I hit up and ask for recommendations. You story tell and make these experiences so relatable.
It looks like there is even less shadow than on the SVP100 (which does not have much, and was a scorcher last year). I seem to recognised some bits of the Beachy Head marathon towards the end, albeit travelled in reverse? Well done for finishing. Nice commentary from Victoria.
Yes there are huge sections with with no cover at all. It was really hot all day! Yes there are bits of the Beachy Head Marathon in there in reverse. Victoria was a bit worried about her commentary so thank you.
Amazing! Huge effort from you both in really tough exposed conditions. When I did the SDW100 in 2021 we had very similar conditions and getting sick was on the agenda for me and lot of others. I've just completed the Lakeland 100 and again was sick through the first night and into the morning. What saved my race this time was crystallised stem ginger cubes. They really helped settle my stomach.
I ran in 2021 as well. It was very hot that year too. Absolutely fantastic effort finishing Lakeland. What a tough 100 miler that is. Vic has used those ginger cubes I think
Yikes Stephen...100 miles. That is way too far to run...at least for me. However, I like watching you and Vitoria doing it. Nice job to the both of you.
Haha thank you Steve. It only seems far before you've done one. Whilst you're doing it, it seems never-ending. Afterwards it feels ridiculously far. Don't do it. It's just not healthy!!

Thank you Clair. SDW was earlier in the month but sounds like you had similar conditions to us. It just drains all your energy doesn’t it?! Well done on completing though.
Unbelievable is an understatement, looked absolutely brutal in them hot conditions, will power and sheer determination got you through, as a husband and wife team your unstoppable, congratulations to you both. Also, we'll done to everyone that entered whether you finished or not. Great watch, top filming.
Yes Jon, it was hard work. Glorious weather in any other situation, but trying to run 100 miles is hard enough without being burned alive in the process!! Well done for finishing! See you at the next one!
Amazing tenacity from both of you. We did this race in 2021 Stephen and it was bloody hot then, so if this year was worse, then that must have been extremely tough. I'm currently dot watching you both at NDW100. 👍

Well done both of you, it was a tough day out in that heat, some of the aid stations looked like field hospitals! Another inspirational video. Great effort both! I’m wondering…..I’m pretty old now….is it actually possible to complete these distances within the cut off times at a “fast” walk instead of running? I’d love to try one 👍🍷
Great to see you both there and cracking effort to slog it out through the sickness. You really deserve a better deal on the weather for the next installment in the slam 😅 Keeping my fingers crossed for some nice conditions for you this weekend!

The thing about ultras and 100s is that sometimes things go against you and sometimes things go for you. Mostly if you plan well, things go in your favour. But sometimes there are things over which you only have limited control, like the weather. Don't dismiss the distance based on what you saw of me on that day!!
@@FilmMyRun I was the marshal at the junction of Star Lane so I never saw your shenanigans, but they may of been mentioned when returned to the chapel, I'm very happy with my choice of the 50. good luck at NDW100.
If it’s any help, last year, SDW50 was my first 50. At that point I knew I never wanted to attempt 100! 😊
That sounds like a tough race, has Victoria changed her mind on the next 100! 🤣
Haha, it was tough simply because of the heat. We will be lining up at the start of the North Downs Way 100 this weekend
Goodness me! You two are so strong. The whole being sick thing puts me off doing ultras. But I’ll run ultras vicariously through you for now. 😂 Great effort both of you 💪💪
For me particularly I’m only usually sick when it’s hot, which is why I run better in the winter.
@@FilmMyRun but you both kept on going!! I think you used the words grit and determination, very apt! Honestly, inspirational stuff.
Well done both of you, it was a tough day out in that heat, some of the aid stations looked like field hospitals! I hiked 90% of it, too hot to run after QECP and then my feet really suffered in the 2nd half. Still, like you, got it done, kept the slam alive. Good luck tomorrow, looks like being a very different day weather wise! ⚡️🌧⛈️☁️
Oh it’s going to be very different tomorrow. I just hope we have the speed again to stay inside those cut offs. Well done for getting it done #KeepTheSlamAlive
Well done for grinding it out!
A massive well done to both of you 🙌 you both kept going in the extreme heat 🥵 Victoria is definitely made of some tough stuff! Her sheer determination got her through that and it was inspiring to see! The next one won’t be so bad 😉 great video as always!
Thanks so much karen! 😊 She may not be quite as fast on her feet as me but she is much more head strong than I am.
you guys are crazy! colossal effort, great film!
Thanks for this. Much appreciated!
Fabulous 🥰
Thanks Tina 🤗
good effort
Thank you so much Stephen😀
Victoria - blink twice if you need us to call the authorities 🤣🤣
Hahahaha. I'll have you know this is entirely her own fault!
🤣
Another inspirational video. Great effort both! I’m wondering…..I’m pretty old now….is it actually possible to complete these distances within the cut off times at a “fast” walk instead of running? I’d love to try one 👍🍷
I think it is Emlyn. I seem to recall someone doing that. If you can walk 3.5 miles an hour you could do it.
Congratulations!!!!!
Thank you. Appreciated
Great to see you both there and cracking effort to slog it out through the sickness. You really deserve a better deal on the weather for the next installment in the slam 😅 Keeping my fingers crossed for some nice conditions for you this weekend!
Cheers Ben. We are going to do our damdest to get to the end of NDW100 at the weekend. Will have to meet up and spend a bit more time together at some point.
@@FilmMyRun Best of luck out there and hope you can enjoy as much of it as possible! That would be great, drop me a line if you're about sometime soon and up for a coffee/run.
