    That's way better than my tactic of pulling the wheel straight when I park it. Out of sight, out of mind, my #1 safety rule. I also live up north, which is why I replace whole tie rods instead of tie rod ends. I did the torch trick once, and I think I'd rather it be tax season every month instead of doing it ever again. I dipped this tie rod in farm implement enamel and soaked the bare thread in 5w20. We'll see what happens.

    My question is how do you know what position the pitman arm is supposed to be in? Wheels straight position?

    • @colinpelletier1883
      @colinpelletier1883 Рік тому

      Asking the same thing. His wheel is probably still not straight because the pitman arm should be facing back and forth, not off to one side

    This looks like one of the steps done in a wheel alignment. I just had the alignment done for my 2004 WJ Laredo V8, and the steering wheel is tilted about 5 degrees off level when the wheels are dead straight. The alignment tech told me that the steering wheel would have to be removed to correct that tilted steering wheel, but looking at this video, the fix for this issue is to adjust the length of that steering linkage rod, without removing the steering wheel and airbag in order to reposition the wheel dead straight.

    Yeah I recently changed my clock spring and accidentally moved the wheel when tightening the steering wheel bolt now it crooked , do I need to find this pitman arm or will adjusting the tie rod do the trick as well ?

    I’m no mechanic but In my opinion to have a wheel that far off you have replace just one side suspension components where you should always replace both or you have played with the toe your self and have no idea what your doing then done some research found out what you did wrong then made another video…?

      An adjustable track bar which is what many people replace their stock track bar with can make your steering off.. I purposely made my steering wheel crooked for the sake of the video..

      @bradhoff5035 2 роки тому +2

      No! That adjustment has nothing to do with actual tire/front end alignment. Below where the drag link bolts to the passenger side of JEEP, you'll see another actual tie rod end on the spindle ... connected to a (tie rod) bar that connects to the driver side tie rod end on the driver side spindle. This is how you adjust your toe.
