I have to agree with you on this one, even though I am considered an old school Yamaha fan there line just isn't as strong especially in the snare drums department, miss the signature snares.
Chy-na - just can’t get over it. The divorce with the people in the little plant in Japan that made all that stuff for so many years. It’s like all the soul went out of it. That’s what corporations do though. Employees are an expense and just numbers on a spreadsheet. 😢
Hey mate, I put the feelers out online and someone responded. If you watched the video I was able to locate two but one was sold damaged, all you can do is search all the usual places and maybe put some wanted ads on forums.
@@IAMDRUMMER Yeah, there's something really pleasing in the midrange. I think I'm going to have to check out some copper drums.... I like how you show the drums warts and all and there's no wonky overtones in this one. It's overall probably one of my faves.
@@IAMDRUMMER It can sound good in the context of certain songs I guess but they're usually songs I don't want to listen to. To me it's as obnoxious sounding as a snare tuned way too high. The drum is clearly struggling to speak imo.
You and me both, when I got the Haynes, then the Nouveau and a long search for the Bordin I was hooked on copper. All that time I was searching for the Kozo copper but I am really still waiting for the DW copper to arrive.....so much copper.
I just learned recently that some people with stiff walled snare drums (thick steel, copper, etc) get more mileage out of the drum with a thinner snare side head -Diplomat 2 mil vs 3 mill standard. I dunno... Bought a Diplomat hazy the other day. I'm gonna give it a shot...
Probably the best sounding snare I've heard on your channel, thanks for all the videos btw. I could be wrong, but I think it sounds to me like you mic and mix your audio a bit differently here, ie. less snare side presence in the mix. This possibly also contributed to my ears liking this snare sound more. I used to have the Roy Haynes sig, but I could never tune it to sound the way I wanted too. This one sounds like I could do that.
Since getting new monitors I am experimenting a little and yes the bottom mic is a little lower in the mix and as much as I would love to spend hours and hours on just the audio I try and get in and out pretty quickly.
It’s a shame what Yamaha has become compared to what they used to be.

Hey Drummer, where can i get one. Been looking for 2 years. Big Fan of Senri Kawaguchi, she plays that snare

Very nice sounding snare.
Unfortunately, he passed away in November 2021, but
there is no doubt that he was a world-class super drummer from Japan.
What a great sounding drum.
Fat, focused, lots of crack.... I really like it.
There is something about copper that just has that nice "BARK" to it.

Does everyone else skip past the cross stick
Oh come on it’s not that boring.
Ok, it is 😂
I skip the low tuning part too. No offence to you super low tuned snare drum weirdos but you guys are weird.
I am not a low guy either, prefer a nice crack so to speak.

I first thought it was a modified Roy Haynes Snare 😅 Sounds great!
I might have to A and B the two.
NOICE... 🎶🎵🎼😎✌👍💯✔ SWEET....
I can’t argue how nice it sounds and plays, sad they discontinued such a brilliant model.
@@IAMDRUMMER Yeah i agree, if that was 2.0 or 2.5 mm would be Perfect.. But much more $$$ , Mr Berocca LOL
I needed that B B Bounce and yep the thick shell would have sent the price skywards.
Nice drum. Better without the EQ pods imo. And low tuning sounds 🤘
It's a nuts drum and really heavy as well.
Without a doubt an incredible drum!! Congrats!!
Thanks brother, one of my favourites for sure.
I have never been more interested to the copper drums like these two years

Keen to hear how you go with it, keep me posted.
@@IAMDRUMMER Will do!
Yes please let us know how it goes, I’m curious as well.
