    I spent only 3 days at Shaolin and I didn't want to record every single moment. I tried my best to create a somewhat coherent & interesting video with the footage I had. Hopefully this gave you some small insights into what life/nature is like there.

    Beautiful. I've spent about 5 years periodically doing training under the guidance of Shi Yan Fan, who happens to be one of the incredibly rare westerners who complete the entire process and become ordained shaolin warrior monks (he also was one of the first in a LONG time to receive the Jieba, which is also impressive), and the experience I've had is NOTHING compared to what you have gone through. I feel that one of these days I will go to the temple and train there eventually, but until then, I will just have to keep working hard to reach that point. Huge props to you for going through with it.

    As a shaolin kung fu practitioner myself, I have to ask... why did you leave at all? I know the western way of life is hard to let go, but was there a reason in particular? I'm currently stuck in my country, but I have considered many times to just let go of everything and dedicate my life whole-fully to kung fu.

    • @RealRanton
      @RealRanton  6 років тому +10

      Monks usually wear a grey-ish robes. Masters tend to wear brown occasionally. But its become very loosey-goosey. For some special ceremonies and kung fu performances the color/outfit is changed.

    Hi I am new here. I saw your channel and was intrigued by it. When I saw your video of when you became a shaolin monk to this video of revisiting that place. It gave me some or at least a little understanding of how life is hard but as you reach the top or understand from the bottom as long as you find peace within yourself or in others through hardship you may find some incite who you really are. Just let you know I am a amateur compare to those who had the guts to venture out to "different" territory just to find themselves or to know what is their purpose is, " to clear ones mind," so to speak. I thank you for sharing this. This give me some hope fore humanity knowing some people care to understand about "life or life in general."

    Very interesting, thank you. Have enjoyed all your videos concerning Shaolin. In another video (concerning a computer game and your mimicry of the poses/moves etc)) you say you don't know where the two fingered mudra comes from - the one that's looks like a heavy metal hand gesture - well isn't that it at 4:44 on this video - on the hill, in the temple area?
