Hey Buckin iv just built myself a nice 385xp. Love watching your vids. Would also love to get one of your axes. What’s the best way to contact you. Cheers Davo
Best way to start your day by watching Billy Ray... my wife shakes already her head and thinks I'm going mad hearing the sound of a powersaw in the background of my phone. Thanks for sharing your passion. Greetings from Ireland
Always makes me feel good to see you Billy. Makes my day a little better. It's good to see a professional doing his job. I know I loved doing concrete when I was young enough to do it. Had guys call me the concrete God. No way could I do what I used to do. Young mans work.
Greetings from New Zealand. I live on a small block of land and grow my own firewood. I appreciate both the community and the sharing of skills. Thank you Buckin', Ganges, Wendy and even the dog, Chester, I think. You enjoy your summer as we head into winter. Love to everyone from New Zealand Teacherhaggis
thank you for refreshing your forum, it's very pleasurable to have a balance of work and talk and you've hit a sweet spot! All the best tree brother, I really appreciate you taking the time to share all this content. Thank you so much!
EXCELLENT EXCELLENT EXCELLENT !! We love that ol Buckin , built a structure today using my little 201 Stihl with help from a friend and we did lotta talkin about ol buckin and what a cool dude he is and how much we’ve learned and love watching the channel . Keep at it folks stay safe be strong
A great explanation of saw tuning. Anyone trying to tune a saw should watch this video - a big cc saw with a long bar has a huge demand for fuel when it's in the cut. Fatten 'em up.
I tell you what. I really appreciate your attitude. If more people had an attitude similar to yours the world would be a happy place. I admit mine could be better also. Just being honest. Being honest truly is the best way to live. Love your videos always put me in a better mood. Keep them coming. Thank you for brightening my day.
Both awesome saws. I was taught by an "old hand" tree lopper in 1980 to tune your high speed screw slightly rich ie centre the screw and then back it out slightly till it just starts to "gurgle". Always worked for me. Love your videos Billy.
Nice work guys. Always love the tuning tips. And the tips in the trees. Looking forward to seeing the gopro footage of you and Ganges side by side in the tops. Love it Buckin. 🌲❤🌲✊
My god that “94” is what I like to listen to when I relax. Better than anything else I could watch. Thanks for the passed down experience, I can hear . It’s great that you repeat things. It takes me 4-5 times before I really get the whole picture 😀
I always like to have my saw a little rich. Once you start cutting it’s begging for more fuel. If it’s set a little rich it’ll smooth right out under load and that’s where mine seems to work the best. I agree with the way Buckin does it. Set it for how it runs best while it’s cutting I agree. Nice job explaining it all Buckin.
Or mix ur gas 2 gallon to one bottle of oil with 110 octane fuel you wouldn't believe the difference I have cut timber for years it will help hp. That's red racing fuel.
Hogan is becoming very proficient in the trees. It's wonderful to watch a young man developing his skills. It is also evident he has a good teacher. Thanks for the videos, Love your channel. Til next time , from Kentucky...
Catching up, just wanted to thank you again for the overall outlook you have to uplift, inform, congratulate, and respect the world around u. There's not much of that anymore.
I've got a 1987 dolmar 120si that I still use every year and always have it rich on fuel and also 30:1 instead of 40:1 which was the original guide. I think 2 stroke oils have come a long way but I also love lubrication.a few dollars on an extra spark plug or 2 is cheaper than a barrel and piston kit for old saws Top video my brother 👍
I work for stihl as a technician. You are spot on. I like to do a base tune with the big of a bog in full unloaded revs then do a load test and ensure the saw performs under load to make sure under load it wont lean out nor get boggy and will perform with its tune. Here in New Zealand.
Thanks for the tutorial on setting the hi speed jet, I cut deadfall lodgepole pine for firewood here in Princeton BC. I have a 2013 Stihl ms261, with the 3 air screws. That 394 sure cuts good.
So I don’t know if anyone has mentioned this, but the “gurgling” Buckin’ mentioned is the saw “4 stroking” you want it like that so it’s giving it enough fuel when it’s under load when it’s in the wood.
Buckin does play well with others😉 I don’t believe you have ever me a saw you didn’t like! Both of the saws I had built were fattened up just like you said and they both run like champs! Love to you and the family❤️
I never thought I'd see BR running an 066. I remember that 261 or whatever video was but this one snuck up on me. Thanks Buckin for filling us Stihl guys void😁 Be kind ☮️🧡☮️🧡
Hi, you are professional cutting machine cut trees. Like you if you cut the tree is always right. Like you video admired you doing it. Have good day. From Saipan CMNI 670 near Guam. Thank you for sharing.
It’s Mac. You will love it. Simple workhorse. Been Mac 12 years now and I’m just a simpleton car technician. Trust me Makes the life more easy. You’ll love it.. give it time my friend.
Great content, Husqvarna and Stihl. I like them both. My favorite is Husqvarna and I really like Echo too. Just something special about Husky chainsaws and their line of lawn equipment.
Hello Friends. Work tune VS race tune right there. As heat builds the more fuel the engine will need. Most don't realize the incoming charge does a great deal of cooling, especially air cooled engines. One thing to check if the saw keep going much too lean in the cut is the tank vent. Some hot woods ported saws need vent and carb work to supply the engine with enough fuel. This often occurs as ones porting skills advance. Looks like you and your boy are hitting it hard, looking good!!
love ya too buddy, i love the 394, you have me looking at the 390 range now, if i can swing it i think a 390 xp will be my next saw, not that i need it !!! lol but hey its not always about need
I have repaired saws for a while now this was good to learn. All so I have all ways put my customers on 40 to 1 ratio oil keeps the engine lubed better it will last longer especially if you run them lean as Billy Ray said. The worst thing that could happen with extra oil is you need to change the spark plug more often or clean the spark arester. 40 to 1 = 3.2 oz per 128 oz = gallon.
Very nice and something I learned as well along with that Buckin is you cant make power out of air only fuel finding that prime condition thanks for the good times
I really wish you were local to me. I would pay soo good to be tought how to hand file square ground. I have destroyed $200 worth of chain trying to teach my self just in the last week. I have watched so many of your vids about it but still cant seem to figure it out. You are a awesome guy! God bless!
Wait to be fair were both saws ground the same? The 394 looked to be square grind not sure about the 066. I had a 009 sthil that I hand filed no not telling what else I did to the chain but it cut circles around an echo 550. Little stock saw shocked the socks off the big saw guys lol.
Just purchased a 394xp dieing to put it into some good size wood. So far has been a fun saw. Awesome video buckin love the content.. love and happiness
I once ran a 066 for an outfit and on big stuff it was the saw. But we wasn't cutting alot of big stuff so I had them get me a husky 262xp man that saw was sweet. Just ran a 16 inch bar was plenty for what we was cutting. It was fast powerful and most of all light to carry. We was cutting alot of black oak and Virginia Pine that averaged 22 to 24 inches on stump. I am sorta new to your channel but your obviously a real pro on saws and cutting wood. One of the odd saws I ever had and ran was a 757series Shindawa. It was a brute of a saw I only used it when I had trees in excess of 36 inches. It wasn't the fastest on rpm but it made up with raw power it would absolutely hog wood. It was just awkward to handle because it had this ridiculous air filter that stuck up on top of the saw. But on big wood it did a good job.
I’ve been watching you for a while now love it . I’ve got a Stihl ms362 24 inc bar & a gowgin chain it bounces but hell does it cut living in UK 🇬🇧 Anglesey north wales 🏴🏴🇬🇧👍🇺🇸🆒🕷
A little rich is always better for a fresh build, keeping it cooler during break in, I keep mine a little richer, I like the note they make when getting a big bite in heavy wood vs the high pitched scream of a lean running saw!

Need to see Buckin with a 044/440 or 064!! Come on Buckin! Make it happen!! 😀
darrenpalms I bet if ironhorse works his magic on a 064 it would probably give buckins 394 a run for its money
Rich Herman I bet it would. Buckin better set that up to prove the 394 still has some grunt! 😀
darrenpalms I bet mr. Hotsaw101 could whip up a mean 064 too
No he likes old, put a 056mag2 in his hands :) be kind friends

Nice to see you run a stihll in your videos because they are amongst the best alongside husky Mac and pioneer
A little rich is always better for a fresh build, keeping it cooler during break in, I keep mine a little richer, I like the note they make when getting a big bite in heavy wood vs the high pitched scream of a lean running saw!
Glad you're using the GoPros again.
