Phil Lynott with Wild Horses - Are You Ready/Rosalie Medley

- After Brian Robertson left Thin Lizzy and Jimmy Bain left Rainbow in the late 80's they joined forces and formed Wild Horses. Phil helped them a lot but they didn't make it and after 2 LP's the quit. Here he joins them for a TV appearance and plays Are You Ready and a unique version of Rosalie. This goes for all the Thin Lizzy and Phil Lynott fans, enjoy.
I was at this show, but I have no recollection of Lynott playing with Wild Horses. I do recall him introducing the band as they played Reservation though. The other bands on the bill were Rockpile (who I remember) and Carlene Carter who I'd forgotten about until today. Great memories, thanks for putting this up.
Great Post, thank you for sharing, R.I.P Phil Lynott and Jimmy Bain.
Phil and Robbo... A lot of thanks for the best music forever..
Please upload those 2 0r 3 originals they played on this show. :))
If you have it that is. :D
Thank you for this, rock on!
Viv
Nice!!!
Then this should be the greatest memory of all lol!
Hey Sabfan, thanks for informing me, I don't have this clip but I will try to track it down through the Lizzy community
It's so cool to get to listen to Wild Horses here on YT (I've looked before with no success until now...) and to get to converse with you...I own both albums on vinyl and I'm a Pat Travers fan as well (are you on Putting it Straight...I have it on vinyl with no liner notes and I've heard that it was you but then I heard it was Nico...(?) I'm also a big fan of UFO, Thin Lizzy, Rainbow...too many others to list, but everybody in WH... I'll be checking out WireHead... and your "channel".
I love your way of thinking myself :)
Still a great clip...said it months ago and I'll say it again. I have audio of Lynott doing the intro for the TV show, followed by Wild Horses playing the song "Reservation". I'm assuming there's video of that portion of the TV show as well...any chance you have that. If so, you should put it up.
That was Robbo who sang that... can tell that a mile away!
@taekwongr Wild Horses in this concert demonstrated that it does not take to sound like Thin Lizzy Thin Lizzy ... Wild horses only
You are welcome friend
that bass has some serious growl going on
@UliJones Thanks man ;-)
Sounds like the boys are playing Cowboy Song, but Lynott continues to sing Rosalie.
Still, a very nice clip.
I think that you are talking about this one, just type in "PHIL LYNOTT & WILD HORSES - Alright Now"
Neil Carter is on the stage somewhere.
No idea on any WH re-issues, they wouldn't tell me anyway or they would have to pay me! remember, the band are the last people to get anything. I have just posted a couple of homebrew vids of my new band WireHead.
@taekwongr Who among them is Jimmy Bain?
This is with Neil on gtr... he left WH to join UFO... scar face came later
Motorhead and Robbo worked great on the album they did, Lemmy does have an ear for melody and that album brought it out, don't underestimate Motorhead. As for Gary Moore flailing away on guitar, well I saw him a few months ago and it was mainly melodic blues stuff not shred, so i'd hardly call it flailing, I still like Robbo better.
I agree this version of "Are You Ready" sucks compared to about the 10 or so other performances of it that I've heard, but I've always liked this song...a really simple riff with a sick groove...it goes to show you don't need to play 1000 mph or have 2000 notes/chords in a riff for it to be good.
Dooo youuu seeee.2:03
Who the hell sang that? Was that Robertson?
@rallyivan1234 I think you got a point there lol
Wild horses drummer Clive Edwards is now in BRONZ check out

Who is Jimmy Bain?
Sorry, everyone called Gary M 'scar face', John was a great lad. Im still making loads of noise at the back!!!
what are you saying? that Robbo can't deliever on guitar without Scott? Well Motorhead's Another Perfect Day proves that wrong. just as Bad reputation shows how scott works well on his own.
Which is a more than you do
I think it was Jimmy bain
Its Jimmy's Bass not Phil's
no that other guy said flailing in a bad way saying that robbo couldn't play. Garys blues stuff is great, its just robbo is my favourite and these days gary is a better player, but still for me its all about Robbos playing on Live and Dangerous and APD, not to take away anything from Garys phenomenal skills.
Well can't say that you are wrong with that and looks that Robbo without having Scott by his side can't deliver much of Lizzy's guitar fame.
Yeah, but Gary Moore could still "flail" if he wanted to, while I doubt Robbo could. Just because Gary prefers to play blues now doesn't make him any less of a player. I do agree with the Robbo/Scott working relationship though, back in the day they could work on their own and succeed at what they wanted to do.
we will never know ...but a reformation with robbo after just one more LP with sykes would have been great - say around 87 - 88 ...still think brian should be in the current lizzy ...
- this is how i see it - gorham -robertson , downey and wharton , and ? on bass and vocals .
AND seeing as how ALL those people wrote for lizzy - they could lend a real air of authenticity to a reunion LP of NEW material . Just sayin.
