I have watched many videos of kayak modifications and you are the first that thinks like I do! Make it simple and think outside the box of buying everything that's made for the yak. Great job!
Just starting my trolling motor build on my Hobie PA12, thank you for sharing all these smart tips! Going to build mine the same way you did. God Bless!
I picked up a fishing kayak a couple of years ago, but haven't had too many chances to do anything to it other than paddle it out a few times. I'm looking for some ideas to power it up so I can fish from it without worrying about trying to control my line while using my hands to paddle ... and I like your simple little steering box a lot. I'm looking to keep things as simple as I can too. I have my eye on some small lakes stocked with brook trout, but also some larger lakes for walleye. Life is short, may as well spend it fishing!
That dual wing sleeve clamped to your motor shaft, I need to get one. Where did you buy that? (I'm in the midst of tearing apart a MINN KOTA. I will likely go foot steer but I enjoyed your pulley invention.
Some good ideas with your steering. The bushings I found does not allow for a half inch pipe to pass all the way through like that did you modify your bushing to get the pipe to go all the way out the bottom?
Robust and simple! Great design!
Great job! Thanks for the bright idea. Watching from UAE.

I appreciate that! I love doing things that are outside of the norm. I have lots of videos doing this exact type of thing.

Awesome setup! The only thing I don’t like about it is the paracord for the steering cable. I know me and I’d stay hooked on that.
that was my fear but it’s never happened in two years
Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
This just what i was looking for, the keep it simple and low cost idea.
I love to share what I have learned over the years and it's always a good day for DIY!
Great stuff🎉!
Appreciate the video 😃
Man I LOVED this video. I hope to incorporate this in my Bonafide SS107.
Thank you I appreciate the reply
Great video brother I'm definitely gonna need your help with this!
Wow, that was awesome. I just actually designed my own using your ideas. Thank you
Looking to do something similar with my 12ft Jon boat. You gave me lots of ideas. I think ill take your design and mount it where the ore locks go.

Yes I drilled the shoulder off of the bottom so pipe slides through
