Thanks for joining me aboard another episode of Yak’n Matt! I hope I can help or guide anyone how to perform modifications to your kayak or to learn a new fishing technique or just sit back and let a dedicated kayak fishing playlist play in the back ground. 👌🏻
Wow Matt that's a great mod for the handle! I made a pulley system similar to that a few years ago for a rubber but couldn't think of a way to do the handle. So I'll definitely be take some ideas from you thanks!
Hello I just have a question. I’m planning on doing the same mount and control idea as you did but I am wondering how would you remove the motor from the rear would you have to detach much or is it easily removable?
Hi mate, the motor attached to the back using the stock bracket the usual transom mount came with. I’ve used a method of steering different to the usual steering triangle. I can detach the motor in under 20 seconds. If you watch this video ua-cam.com/video/KWv1FttP_MM/v-deo.htmlsi=xp5_-eVvPsa_ZBB3 and while I’d love you to watch the whole thing, the first five minutes I cover off the design and function of the rope attachment. Ask as many questions mate, here to help.
Let me know when you’ve watched the video and I’ll explain a bit more if you need me to. The steering cords are tensioned using rope jammers positioned in a specific orientation once they have wrapped around the back pulley.
Guess what? I literally bought a complete bow mount with the usual circuit board issue yesterday for under $100 in really good condition, so I’ve got a 55lb, shaft, base, tilt, steer, just need to figure out the wiring, buy a second ESC maybe 10amp, then connect it to my receiver, program the remote, hey presto!
Ha ha all good mate, I have to constantly remember to speak in inches wherever possible, majority of my viewers are from the eastern side of the Pacific Ocean. 3/4” is about 19mm, that is really robust stuff. I used 15mm and that is 37/64” ha ha
@Yaknmattkayakfishing lol it's all good! When I'm watching i just have to remember to write it down and go back later to look it up 😂. It's really amazing to talk to people from across the world! Thanks!
@Bamaoutdoors likewise and you might have heard me towards the end of that handle video, I’m blown away by the fact someone in another country has been interested in my content. Hopefully my Aussie accent doesn’t turn people off watching!

Very ingenious
Thanks for your feedback 👌🏻 it worked superbly!
Looks good 👍
Thanks Tony, love your channel mate 👍🏻
That’s certainly some pretty serious engineering! You could have got the system 3D printed and sold them. Not everyone likes going wireless 😉
@@localsights1 how bloody good is it having a single handed control though!

you can buy a powerdrive steering motor set up and turn it with an esc, i did this using a wireless controller

What thickness is that HDPE you used? I was thinking about using 3/4" I don't know what that is In MM lol

Hi mate, any chance you’d gather materials and make one for me? I’m in Tassie

@@LAMEBOY88 hey mate I’m sort of toying with making another one but 3D printed. Message me on my FB page Yak’n Matt.
