They just passed a law here in California that if you can order service online, then there has to be a option to cancel it online without calling. This starts on July 1st!

This is WHY these services should be in writing!!! Unless ONE has phone copying (hard to do) there is NO way to prove the "he said/she said". (used to work for lawfirms and why I ask companies to send email as it's legal "tender")
Wow sorry to see you had to go through that. I always make sure to be completely transparent with any customer I'm speaking with. The lady should have told you the price with all taxes and fees not just the service price. She most likely doesn't work there anymore 😕

Yeah it went from $85 to more than $300 because they forgot to mention some fees? And they didn’t know that he was going to receive a 200% increase from where he was? And the rep was fired but he was never contacted with an APOLOGY? 🙄 Every spectrum rep knew exactly what they were doing! And they decided to screw this guy (who kept pretty composed throughout this ordeal by the way) by adding a new account and get the commission for doing so. SHAME ON YOU SPECTRUM!! Shame on you! 😒

Job spooked and transferred him to a tech repair department and that was extremely unprofessional and I hope to god wasn’t intentional. Allot of reps do know what they are doing and how to do their trained job. durning trains we learn certain departments. I myself am retention, they transfer you to me after they find out ur wanting to cancel a line of service such as Tv. It’s horrible we have to try and give u savings or a different package or sell mobile although they are good deals and good savings. She messaged up ur account and didn’t tell anyone and I’m truly sorry that happened to you she had terrible integrity.

It's data capped at 1024 (1TB). They messed up my order and ended up giving me internet basic 1.5. Like wtf. Called back and they said the highest I can get is 25 megabits. When the tech arrived, which was a nice guy luckily. I asked him why can't I get internet 50 around my area? 2 people said I can't on the phone and made me wait for hours. Then the tech said I should be able to, that's strange he says. Then he setup and installed everything for us in 1 day. Working perfectly and got our 50/10
I have internet with these clowns at $49.99 per month. They keep mailing me an “Exclusive Offer”. If I add Spectrun TV, I get each at $44.99, so that should be $90 for both. Sounded too good to be true, and it was. They add all kinds of fees and at the end it was almost $130 per month, basically $40 more than their so called “Exclusive Offer”. This is because they force you to pay for local channels, which right now I get for absolutely free. They also force you to get a cable box, even though you just want to use their app. The worst part is that when you confront them with the fact that they are using false advertisement, the person I spoke to shamelessly admitted it was true, and gave me attitude on top! Thanks for posting this video and exposing them.
Wrong!!! You don’t get local channels for free. It’s a broadcast fee which is 23.30$ to have those channels. All you have to do is call them and they will lower your bill without hassle. Stop crying
They are scumbags. To cancel immediately you have bring all their equipment to one of their stores. Get a cancellation confirmation and receipts for all the equipment
Exactly. I unfortunately had a little issue even with going into the store. They called me back a few months later an told me that I had not returned some equipment. It's a good thing I kept my receipt. I gave him that number over the phone and it was bye-bye.
Just cancel the card they're charging from. Like it sucks for your end, you shouldn't have to do that. But when they can't get your money one way or another anyway, they'll have to suck dick and just cancel anyway. Or you know, just give it to you for free

They've been screwing me for years! I finally cut it off! It was so hard trying to get them to cut it off. My son had to call them,took him 30 minutes for them to agree to cut it off. But they have the business monopolized in most areas, so they could care less. like most companies, their mentality is backwards , they offer their NEW customers better pricing rather then trying to maintain their current customers at comparable prices just like their new customers, These companies offer New customers promotional lower prices, then raise prices, and have the customer Cancel and go to the other company, then repeat the process, instead of as appreciation to their Valuable loyal customers keep them at low rates so that the customers stay loyal and for a long time.
I have been with spectrum before all the name changes and there customer service is shit and their prices for service are too higher then for what offered. I live in nyc and you can only pick between Verizon or Spectrum. Hey his is allowed in one of the biggest metropolitan cities in the country is beyond me

After a dealing with their customer service over the course of the last 3 days and mind you I was signing up for service, nothing but nonsense run arounds then tried to force my hands locking me in. Luckily I got away for only the cost of $5 and that was more than worth not having to deal with this company ever again! Spectrum need shutdown.
My complaint with Spectrum is that the TV would keep going into "buffering" mode. Simply stated, this service does not work very well. We are going to cancel in a few days.

took me 2 customer reps, first rep claimed they cancelled the service and bill got sent back to me higher than it was before. 2nd rep got my internet cancelled within 5 minutes and was great to work with. sorry to hear that you got way unluckier. 😂
Wow. Two hours and counting? When I canceled Spectrum, it took me just over 30 minutes of arguing with the sales guy on the phone. I switched over to AT&T Fiber 300, and I couldn't be happier. The service is great.

Horrible company that abuses the fact that they are a monopoly in some parts. They will throttle you like crazy and have recently enforced new modems that will throttle and scan more even if you have a VPN. It's none of their business as I pay the bill. I wish someone would make them pay back for the times their internet lags or straight out disconnect you.
I got railroaded into this BS myself. I asked for cable & internet because they were 44.95 a month each. They tacked on Voice for a landline, which I don't have. I pay $152.00 a month. I complained about the bill, they took off $10.00 1 time. It's back up to 152. Here's the kicker, because of where I live the apartment doesn't allow ANY dish or other service. So I either get Spectrum or aerial. So I'm SOL. I Had DISH for 11 years then moved into a subsidy housing. So Yeah.
It's fucked up they did that to you. Unfortunately I live in an apartment complex that the only internet you can get is spectrum. So I have to deal with the 👿
You have more patience than me by a longshot. The people you are talking to are commissioned sales people that make money by increasing your bill. & there's obviously no repercussions for bad behavior. In fact, it is encouraged behavior. It really is that simple.
I don’t understand why they don’t make a law, giving the customer the option to cancel online or over the phone without having to talk to someone. It’s ridiculous having to call the company and go through all the BS to cancel their service
This same exact thing has happened to me they are penalizing customers for items not ordered! Foreign business practices and the workers are fully enrolled in their poor business practice politics.
All you have to do to cancel is take your equipment to a spectrum store and turn it in. They will cancel it there. You'll love Verizon data better. I installed Fios.
I cancelled them recently for another provider. One of the techs who came by my house gave me a hard time over equipment I didn't even own whatsoever and they were cable boxes. This occurred during a time when I returned the WifI Router. But the fact they needed cable boxes out of me (which makes no sense because I read that Spectrum is transitioning to streaming) just infuriated me. And besides, I don't even use TV anymore. That and they were still charging me even after cancelling their service. This situation made me permanently drop Spectrum for good and the tech who gave me a rough time was just an ass. Spectrum deserves to lose business in every way they should.
They do this little run around game in hopes that you will get tired of being on the phone and just forget about leaving them.. they never call back... at least in my experience.

They are doing me the same way. Have had spectrum internet and tv essentials bundle for about two years now. At first my bill was around 55$ a month and after the first year it went up to 77$ a month. I thought since the service was decent it would be worth it to pay the difference and keep it. After the second year it’s now almost 100$ a month, so I’ve called them probably 25-30 times now to try and get the cable removed and just keep the internet. Kept transferring me over and over and over again just to give me the run around. Safe to say I’ll be switching providers after this months service is up 😂
Their jacking me around too. I Recently got the mobile service on top of my internet. The phone doesn't work. I spent 2 hours on the phone trying to get a RMA and a shipping label. They say their sending it but I never receive the label or RMA using multiple email accounts, all fail. The rep said emails get lost sometimes you know. I ask to speak to the supervisor and I get disconnected. This has happened twice, almost 4 hours of this game. I just want to return the cell and get a landline. If they would at least try to make it right I would be ok with the BS. However, they want to play games. It's really dumb on their part. I'm a long term customer and their going to no longer get $$ from me. Oh well, lessen learned, I'm going to cancel them and get a new provider. It's their loss. I seriously don't understand why they are doing this to a long term customer who has spent thousands of dollars over the years.

Just wanted to cancel the TV keep my internet and cell service. after 40 minutes on the phone and them trying to sell me something, got pissed off with them told them either cancel TV now or I'm canceling everything. Kept saying cancel now at her as she continued to talk.
Providers are not allowed to add services that you did not agree to. In your case, they did exactly that. I presume you sent this recording to the attorney general's office and did not have to pay that ridiculous bill. I feel sorry for your ordeal. Spectrum took 2.5 hours of your life that you will never get back AND they did you wrong on the services. They owe you money for all of this.

As I work in the sales department. This young lady was from retention. And what she did I can assure you she was fired and this guy's bill fixed. We have a policy where you have to recap full order with taxes and fees and gain affirmative yes answer when processing orders. This is not normal of spectrum I can assure you from working inbound sells taking between 20 and 25 calls per day. 40 hours a week. I have taken thousands of calls with no such issues as this
He’s definitely NOT lying I’m a retention agent. I don’t hound my customers it’s their call. I’m easy going and even though I’m supposed to try saving them when I hear one “NO” I don’t ask any more questions about the service I just make small talk with them to make them ease up since their angry and upset.
My area got the same crap.. 15 households are pissed.. We are going to have a get together with a lawyer to file a lawsuit against them.. It might not get us anyplace but who knows.. This is what we do as retention reps at spectrum, if your ethical you get bullied to quit, I refused to quit, I rather do the right thing and continue to cancel accounts and would rather be fired.
Everyone at Spectrum has a employee id number , if you ask for it you should be able to backtrack your conversation . Write everything down ! These folks are great at delay , until it comes time to submit a bill !
I know this comment is old, but for anyone that may come back and see this: Spectrum employees are not allowed to give their IDs, just their name. Calls and/or chats made with agents are backed up in the system to review if needed, so just the date of the conversation will be adequate.
They are very deceptive, I’ve spent hours trying to get a connection fixed and it’s been a nightmare! They won’t tell you they block your router if it’s not theirs until you finally figure it out and ask.
There Job is not to save you money. This is not a loan your getting they can change there prices at anytime. Me as a customer if i don’t agree with the price just switch.
At least you got people in the United States with other companies, including Comcast and AT&T you don’t and you can’t even understand what they’re telling you on the phone.
I’m so glad I have Xfinity(just the Internet because screw cable). I only use Xfinity for Internet and nothing more and if I want to watch any TV, it would be on UA-cam TV(I have a fire stick) Sorry you got screwed over or in your case “ripped off”. I’ve never heard of spectrum until basically now and I’m glad I didn’t have to go through any of this. I have T-Mobile for my phone(I used to be sprint until my whole family changed over to T-Mobile, my family basically consists of my dad brother and sister-in-law, my mom died in 2012). Anyways, sorry to hear you got ripped off. Edit: when I lived with my parents(before my mom died) we had Comcast but that was a couple decades ago, and my my has the time flown by
I sold a cable bundle to a customer, and he was not allowed to argue with me, since I had all the power, internet speed, wi-fi, router and modem locked into a 5 year contract. He is destined to remain loyal due to his own inadequate and irate behavior. I told him to call 911 for paramedics. He was not happy that I did not adjust his bill, however, if he would try to cancel we would be forced to put him on the Do Not Call List, and he would be on the RED list for all ISP service. We know how to demand the streaming that works.
They have extremely bad customer service! The so called team lead didn't even use any empathy or acknowledgement which is part of their job! He didn't even try to keep him as a customer after he said he wants to have his service cancelled. Nobody cares over there at all! 🙄😒👎🏾
I have a complaint against spectrum cable, I had Direct tv when spring came it start dropping the tv. I was told that they could do anything about it. So when the summer came I decided to get spectrum cable,I had my internet turned back on,they gave me a date when they were coming out to connect the cable.When the tech came out he hooked up the boxes and left leaving me without cable or even internet. I called them the tech said the job was done.When I called spectrum they told me that know one would be out until Thursday,and it’s Tuesday.Left me with no tv.and they were paid in full last week.
we dropped there tv service several months ago and now are using direct tv stream they were charging 50 a month for 4 boxes and about half the time the boxes would just reboot without no warning
I hear everyone has bad experiences calling these cable/internet service providers.. spectrum or At&t....I feel I've gotten lucky with my internet provider which is at&t... every year I call to keep my promotional discount and everything goes smoothly when I call...maybe being a at&t customer for about 15 years helps?
I had the same problem and when I was canceling they kept putting me on hold and than giving me different prices. To be honest I’m glad I’m done with them they had outages like 2 times a week

Wrong!!! You don’t get local channels for free. It’s a broadcast fee which is 23.30$ to have those channels. All you have to do is call them and they will lower your bill without hassle. Stop crying

Exactly. I unfortunately had a little issue even with going into the store. They called me back a few months later an told me that I had not returned some equipment. It's a good thing I kept my receipt. I gave him that number over the phone and it was bye-bye.
Just cancel the card they're charging from. Like it sucks for your end, you shouldn't have to do that. But when they can't get your money one way or another anyway, they'll have to suck dick and just cancel anyway. Or you know, just give it to you for free

I have been with spectrum before all the name changes and there customer service is shit and their prices for service are too higher then for what offered. I live in nyc and you can only pick between Verizon or Spectrum. Hey his is allowed in one of the biggest metropolitan cities in the country is beyond me

The WORST company!! How can we sue this garbage company? They asking me to transfer to spectrum mobile and they lost my number! that’s my work number! I have been calling them for two weeks! Every calls is up to 2-3hours and spoken to more than 50+ ppls and they all have the worst attitude and can’t help me! Also they changed my internet plan with out telling me! I got overcharged double the price, I said give me back my old plan I never said that I need this new plan, and they said sorry we cant get your old plan back because it was already changed, you must have to paid it first then close your account! What I can't stand the most is their bad attitude! It's obviously their fault but they don't care. Every conversation with their customer service is like a quarrel! I’ve had a very bad experience with them than you! Talking to them is a nightmare! I am very regret that I should recording all my conversations and putting them on UA-cam like you did! After a dealing with their customer service over the course of the last 3 days and mind you I was signing up for service, nothing but nonsense run arounds then tried to force my hands locking me in. Luckily I got away for only the cost of $5 and that was more than worth not having to deal with this company ever again! Spectrum need shutdown.
My complaint with Spectrum is that the TV would keep going into "buffering" mode. Simply stated, this service does not work very well. We are going to cancel in a few days.

took me 2 customer reps, first rep claimed they cancelled the service and bill got sent back to me higher than it was before. 2nd rep got my internet cancelled within 5 minutes and was great to work with. sorry to hear that you got way unluckier. 😂

When I canceled Spectrum, it took me just over 30 minutes of arguing with the sales guy on the phone. I switched over to AT&T Fiber 300, and I couldn't be happier. The service is great.

Horrible company that abuses the fact that they are a monopoly in some parts. They will throttle you like crazy and have recently enforced new modems that will throttle and scan more even if you have a VPN. It's none of their business as I pay the bill. I wish someone would make them pay back for the times their internet lags or straight out disconnect you.

I got railroaded into this BS myself. I asked for cable & internet because they were 44.95 a month each. They tacked on Voice for a landline, which I don't have. I pay $152.00 a month. I complained about the bill, they took off $10.00 1 time. It's back up to 152. Here's the kicker, because of where I live the apartment doesn't allow ANY dish or other service. So I either get Spectrum or aerial. So I'm SOL. I Had DISH for 11 years then moved into a subsidy housing. So Yeah.

All you have to do to cancel is take your equipment to a spectrum store and turn it in. They will cancel it there. You'll love Verizon data better. I installed Fios.

I cancelled them recently for another provider. One of the techs who came by my house gave me a hard time over equipment I didn't even own whatsoever and they were cable boxes. This occurred during a time when I returned the WifI Router. But the fact they needed cable boxes out of me (which makes no sense because I read that Spectrum is transitioning to streaming) just infuriated me. And besides, I don't even use TV anymore. That and they were still charging me even after cancelling their service.
This situation made me permanently drop Spectrum for good and the tech who gave me a rough time was just an ass. Spectrum deserves to lose business in every way they should.
They do this little run around game in hopes that you will get tired of being on the phone and just forget about leaving them.. they never call back... at least in my experience.

They are doing me the same way. Have had spectrum internet and tv essentials bundle for about two years now. At first my bill was around 55$ a month and after the first year it went up to 77$ a month. I thought since the service was decent it would be worth it to pay the difference and keep it. After the second year it’s now almost 100$ a month, so I’ve called them probably 25-30 times now to try and get the cable removed and just keep the internet. Kept transferring me over and over and over again just to give me the run around. Safe to say I’ll be switching providers after this months service is up 😂

Their jacking me around too. I Recently got the mobile service on top of my internet. The phone doesn't work. I spent 2 hours on the phone trying to get a RMA and a shipping label. They say their sending it but I never receive the label or RMA using multiple email accounts, all fail. The rep said emails get lost sometimes you know. I ask to speak to the supervisor and I get disconnected. This has happened twice, almost 4 hours of this game. I just want to return the cell and get a landline. If they would at least try to make it right I would be ok with the BS. However, they want to play games. It's really dumb on their part. I'm a long term customer and their going to no longer get $$ from me. Oh well, lessen learned, I'm going to cancel them and get a new provider. It's their loss. I seriously don't understand why they are doing this to a long term customer who has spent thousands of dollars over the years.

Just wanted to cancel the TV keep my internet and cell service. after 40 minutes on the phone and them trying to sell me something, got pissed off with them told them either cancel TV now or I'm canceling everything. Kept saying cancel now at her as she continued to talk.
Providers are not allowed to add services that you did not agree to. In your case, they did exactly that. I presume you sent this recording to the attorney general's office and did not have to pay that ridiculous bill. I feel sorry for your ordeal. Spectrum took 2.5 hours of your life that you will never get back AND they did you wrong on the services. They owe you money for all of this.

As I work in the sales department. This young lady was from retention. And what she did I can assure you she was fired and this guy's bill fixed. We have a policy where you have to recap full order with taxes and fees and gain affirmative yes answer when processing orders. This is not normal of spectrum I can assure you from working inbound sells taking between 20 and 25 calls per day. 40 hours a week. I have taken thousands of calls with no such issues as this

I’m easy going and even though I’m supposed to try saving them when I hear one “NO” I don’t ask any more questions about the service I just make small talk with them to make them ease up since their angry and upset.

This is what we do as retention reps at spectrum, if your ethical you get bullied to quit, I refused to quit, I rather do the right thing and continue to cancel accounts and would rather be fired.
Everyone at Spectrum has a employee id number , if you ask for it you should be able to backtrack your conversation . Write everything down ! These folks are great at delay , until it comes time to submit a bill !
I know this comment is old, but for anyone that may come back and see this: Spectrum employees are not allowed to give their IDs, just their name. Calls and/or chats made with agents are backed up in the system to review if needed, so just the date of the conversation will be adequate.

They are very deceptive, I’ve spent hours trying to get a connection fixed and it’s been a nightmare! They won’t tell you they block your router if it’s not theirs until you finally figure it out and ask.

Sorry you got screwed over or in your case “ripped off”. I’ve never heard of spectrum until basically now and I’m glad I didn’t have to go through any of this. I have T-Mobile for my phone(I used to be sprint until my whole family changed over to T-Mobile, my family basically consists of my dad brother and sister-in-law, my mom died in 2012). Anyways, sorry to hear you got ripped off.

I sold a cable bundle to a customer, and he was not allowed to argue with me, since I had all the power, internet speed, wi-fi, router and modem locked into a 5 year contract. He is destined to remain loyal due to his own inadequate and irate behavior. I told him to call 911 for paramedics. He was not happy that I did not adjust his bill, however, if he would try to cancel we would be forced to put him on the Do Not Call List, and he would be on the RED list for all ISP service. We know how to demand the streaming that works.

I have a complaint against spectrum cable, I had Direct tv when spring came it start dropping the tv. I was told that they could do anything about it. So when the summer came I decided to get spectrum cable,I had my internet turned back on,they gave me a date when they were coming out to connect the cable.When the tech came out he hooked up the boxes and left leaving me without cable or even internet. I called them the tech said the job was done.When I called spectrum they told me that know one would be out until Thursday,and it’s Tuesday.Left me with no tv.and they were paid in full last week.
I will never work for Spectrum. Even a manager that works there said the work environment is toxic. I haven't purchased cable for over 10 years.
we dropped there tv service several months ago and now are using direct tv stream they were charging 50 a month for 4 boxes and about half the time the boxes would just reboot without no warning
I hear everyone has bad experiences calling these cable/internet service providers.. spectrum or At&t....I feel I've gotten lucky with my internet provider which is at&t... every year I call to keep my promotional discount and everything goes smoothly when I call...maybe being a at&t customer for about 15 years helps?
