I live in Wilkes County NC dealing with lots of instability with my Spectrum internet. Techs keep coming saying the signal is good leave and the problems continue when they are gone. What you recommend I do to fix my problem for good. Missing out on my online training zoom calls. Thanks!
Wow, so it’s not only the customers who hate spectrum. Pre covid I used to be in LA a lot for work and have Spectrum in my house because it’s pretty much the only option. Cuts out like crazy, ping spikes regularly, ‘up to’ speeds of 200 Mbps but I was lucky to get a little over 1/3rd of that. 70 Mbps is obviously not bad, but it fluctuates like crazy and don’t advertise with speeds 3 times higher then lol? Then a technician once told me it’s not uncommon to have more than 1000 customers on one node in the area?? I was shocked, a cable technician back at home in Europe told me they try to have max. 300-400 customers on a single node, and I was always able to get at least 860-ish Mbps on a gigabit plan, even slightly more after getting a new modem with a few more channels. I now have DSL at home and it’s way cheaper, super stable and I get 100 down, 40 up with 5 ms ping, instead of Spectrums usual 60. Can’t get DSL in LA because AT&T’s infrastructure has been rotting away forever, it’s spectrum or nothing really. I live in the middle of nowhere in Europe (so no fiber yet) and aside from wireless options, I can still choose out of 5 major providers on either DSL or cable. I can’t believe a huge, vibrant city like LA is terrorized by Spectrum’s monopoly and on top of that they reward u by giving u the worst service starting at 80 bucks a month lmao. And a year a later they double the price for no reason lol, and that’s legal. I swear how are these people even satisfied with themselves? AT&T needs to come through with that fiber.... Spectrum treats their customers AND apparently their technicians like shit, ew... can’t imagine how they treat the rest of their employees.
Lol. You should’ve known better than to record. Spectrum is crazy about safety. I’m in sales so I’m lucky but you guys can’t sneak anything by. Glad you found a new job though
The sad part is now techs have to do that for way less pay because of self install kits so techs dont care about your service because they dont get paid enough best thing is to say no to self install and pay the tech fees so they can feel good about doing there job and giving you better service but still there are good techs and bad techs but now its even worse
If you need an in-home Spectrum technician ask for Roy Holden Jr. He is famous for having no complaints and can be easily found on the internet for his heroic service.
My ex wife is a QC inspector for one of the major companies that installs all the aerial and underground in GA and Alabama. Basically she drives all over the place everyday checking behind all the crews making sure they did the job correctly and that they did the work they charged for. She goes out of her way covering the crews ass most of the time. She will fix problems that she can to save the crew from making a long trip to repair something they've already gotten paid for. Its nothing for her to put on her climbing spikes and go up a pole to fix something that wasn't done right. She cleans up the wreck out that their lazy ass leaves behind including loading up by herself partial spools of wire (yes the big wooden ones). She'll use her chainsaw and cut up the poles they change out load them on her truck and unload them at their shop. She catches a lot of them charging for work they didn't do or its left incomplete. Can't believe some crews will charge for hundreds of feet of cable they never installed. Her bosses stay on her ass for fixing the crews problems they leave. She doesn't get paid for doing it because she is on salary. One thing I will say is that she can out work or keep up with most any of the guys. She started out as a grunt (ground hand) and she loved the physical work. I swear the woman is not right lol. I've did construction work all my life but dude I'll tell you now you can have that shit. It's not the heat or the cold I can deal with that, it's all of the other bull crap you guys go through. When you make money you make good money but people don't understand you might get called out to do something that doesn't hardly pay anything or you may have to wait for several hours for the power company to get to finished and move out of the way. People don't realize just because you're on the job doesn't mean your getting paid for sitting.. If you're near the mid west GA area and need a job hit me up they're always needing people. You wouldn't be working for spectrum, charter, Xfinity or no one like that. This company is the ones that install and maintain all the lines for the little cable companies like I listed. They don't do residential service.
Honestly, like every one of my jobs would be a failed QC. I dont feel bad about it though. The only way to make good money is to constantly cut corners where you can. If techs were to do every job by the book, they would make less than minimum wage. I almost never put ground blocks, house boxes, change all fittings, etc. You would not imagine how absurd the expectations are of a technician ( For example at my company lets say I get a trouble call to replace a customers remote. Just to replace that trouble call, I am supposed to: Climb the pole then check the signal at the top of the pole and replace all fittings and put a house number tag, then go to the house and measure the signal and replace all fittings and put a new house box, put a new ground block, put a sticker to the ground block, then walk around with a howler and check for any leakages, then measure the signal each device and put a new fitting on the cable on each device, and replace all splitters. Note, that I am supposed to do all this, when all the customer wants is a new remote) And despite me not trying for QC, I still manage to have one of the lowest rework and repeat rates (both generally below 6%) One big problem I see is there is absolutely no incentive to be a good technician. When I first started out, I wanted to be the best. I wanted to make my supervisors happy. To give them good metrics, etc. But the problem is, the only one benefitting from your good work is your company and the sups. You get paid the same regardless. Therefore, you should always just do enough quality to not get fired, and simply focus on quantity so you get paid more, and hope you dont get qc'd (as far as I know, only 2 of my 4000+ jobs were qc'd) in any case, thanks to your ex wife. It really strikes me that a person would go out so far out of her way to help a person she doesnt know, when she also actually gets paid to catch these people. I've always imagined people who QC really hate techs

You're so good to your customers and such a skilled technician. If you ever are looking for a position reach out to me, I'm in the industry. Thank you for a first hand experience!
Spectrum sucks! Several years ago got service, had problems from the start! Called for a tech to come out, before he left he asked my wife out to dinner! I filed a complaint, they gave us the full package for pennis! 6 months in experienced a fire ,I called and asked for service to be put on hold till I rebuilt ,I called back after remodeling and was told they had no record of the deal they gave me! Then a month later I got a letter in the mail that I owed 3800.00 for fire damage done to outside box, I called and had a field adjuster come out and showed him that they put their box on my neighbors property he wanted to know who gave them permission! I never heard back again!
People depend on being able to watch 55 minutes of commercials every hour! Spectrum is very serious about their commercial delivery service.... only the best will do
Spectrum deserves to go bankrupt and disappear forever. So sick of their godawful services that are absurdly overpriced. They're way worse than EA, Activision, and Atari COMBINED.
They always go on maintenance, i understand that but why the fuck are you still charging 70 dollars for some dogshit wifi that cuts out every 2 days for maintenance?
I worked for a company called Wave broadband here in the Bay Area. Paid decent, mainly did it for the experience. What I liked the most about that job was meeting satisfied customers, fixing their issues, meeting nice people and just pole climbing. The absolute best was climbing in SF and getting some amazing views.
My sup told me to go to Walgreens to get a covid test and turn around and go home.i tried coming in anyway to work..I told him I didn't have covid.i already took a test.so later that day he called and said why did you use the company truck on your day off.i said huh you told me to and I was scheduled but was sick.so he took the van,and I had to get to work on my own.so fast forward 4 months later my heart problems had me out a week.so my sup the manager and the h.r was on the phone saying your employment is terminated due to you using the company vehicle when you wasn't supposed to.i couldn't believe it.why wait so long to fire me don't make sense
i agree they are sight. we have a damaged mainline its been damaged before they even took over. and every time a tech comes out he sees orders to have the line replaced calls in and tells them and they do nothing. when things get bad they just keep upping the internet speed and add a stronger booster.
As a fiber install tech who just recently got laid off due to my company's lack of management, I can we never climbed poles like this. Our taps were always usually within 16 feet of the ground
I have centurylink and it sucks. I dont even get the full 10mbps download, and dont even get 1mbps upload. Spectrum just put lines down in my area, should I switch or keep suffering with centurylink?
I worked there when it was Time Warner. Sounds as if they rolled their ridiculous concepts right on through to the new branding! AT&T is no better! Maybe even worse if that's possible!
You did have your left glove off but that shouldn't matter dude just from what I see from this you're the best I've seen cause nobody will even climb a pole any more they'd rather have 15 ppl come out than to just fix the goddamn problem
how do you not get electrocuted ? or is that all low voltage? im wanting to be a cell/cable lineman but cant find out how to get training out here in colorado. and are you still a lineman? my comment is 4 years late lol but if you see this any info would be great. thanks
Yep. I'm a tech for another company and I see some of the work spectrum puts out and I can tell that the company is garbage. Sure the text leave the mess that I can see but they were trained to leave it that way. I hate Spectrum, my neighbor hates spectrum, as a matter of fact everybody I know hates Spectrum. They will be gone with the fiber era coming up!
My last day was today and i had to file an eeoc claim because i was getting hit by co workers and managers while they would walk by my desk. When i asked to be moved because i started having back pain they initially declined. Second degree felony assault at the workplace is a new experience for me. On the whole the most corrupt group of people ever. I cant tell you how many times i saw customers with unapproved lines on their account. " sir did you request the home phone on your account?" No! Salespeople would routinely add lines of business to an account hoping customer wouldnt see it. They are in a dying business

Former spectrum tech here too, they are shitty, pay like crap and management above your direct supervisor treat the techs like expendable garbage.
Comcast tech here. What does Spectrum pay for 1099?
You're so good to your customers and such a skilled technician. If you ever are looking for a position reach out to me, I'm in the industry. Thank you for a first hand experience!
Thank you what area are you from
I have a virtual interview with Spectrum tomorrow. I have no prior experience thanks for the video. I know what expect.
I was a field tech 2 after a year and a half and got laid off because of “ poor performance “ yet i was tier 4 & 5 every month 😂 its a joke man
So that was the reason because you had to be tier 1 or min tier 2.
@@moym1905 tier 4 & 5 are really good. Not sure how the one and two are better. At least in Florida the higher the tier the better.
It sucks to use them too, Spectrum is terrible for everyone.
Well. In that case I'll just ghost the interview I have tomorrow. I need to finish school anyway.
I insist u switch jobs to company that has good wifi
Cable guy is not worth the effort. I was at att getting 16 a hour. It was the worst job ever.
People depend on being able to watch 55 minutes of commercials every hour!
Spectrum is very serious about their commercial delivery service.... only the best will do
Sorry to hear about your job. But love your videos I'm from Grundy so I can relate to your hunting and fishing videos keep posting awesome videos
Thanks and I will be posting some hunting and more fishing this year
They started to charge us more and now I can't find anything to watch since my mom took the channels I used to watch away to save money 😞
Cancelling Spectrum due to this video. Sorry for their bullshit brother!
I never seen a buck squeeze like that
yup soectrum are garbage
Spectrum is a horrible unprofessional place to work. Please look elsewhere when seeking employment.
Oh wow. I could not do this job! You all are amazing.
It's soo bad that it disconnects every 7 seconds for 4 times I promise I'm not exaggerating
So if they call me for an interview should I not take it? This seems pretty crappy what they did to you.
ironic this video is buffering while using spectrum wifi :)
NORTH CAROLINA FRIENDS LIKING AND SUBSCRIBING
Yeah i was talking about the hr department stalking me lmao
Maybe even worse if that's possible!
no union?
Worst internet ever
Find a good port at the two
Spectrum is the worst, head my words, Don't Get IT.
Could it just be your division? I live in indiana and was looking at this possibly
You did have your left glove off but that shouldn't matter dude just from what I see from this you're the best I've seen cause nobody will even climb a pole any more they'd rather have 15 ppl come out than to just fix the goddamn problem
I work for them 7yrs I know the pain and frustration them your sup is talking shit
i don’t get mad over dying in my games on xbox i get mad over wifi
Someone was after you and wanted you gone, I hope you sued
damn they make you gaff poles with those lines running down the pole?
What kind of gloves do you use? Well you used to.
companies don't like being recorded too.
how do you not get electrocuted ? or is that all low voltage? im wanting to be a cell/cable lineman but cant find out how to get training out here in colorado. and are you still a lineman? my comment is 4 years late lol but if you see this any info would be great. thanks
All low voltage but you have to test with a voltage detector before touching the pole
I do not miss working for this shit company
That looks fkn scary
Pole looks shady needs to be replaced!
Stupid high for no reason!
I miss TWC.
Spectrum should be called Rectum they are so terrible. Tech installed my modem and router 150 feet from my suite. Couldn’t use the service.
🎥🧜🛸🤓
1425 meter
I use to have at&t and its better
Hell yey🤬🤬🤬🤬
No a SDSU
Spectrum is the worst cable company on Earth how do they even keep going nobody likes spectrum nobody likes the constant commercials that they have to watch having spectrum cable and nobody likes their service it is the worst cable company on earth
