@@pdraggy Not even close. Game's good but it's more ANNO if anything. And it's nowhere near as addictive as Civ games are. Good game, don't get me wrong but come on...
Your farms would be a lot more efficient if you add granaries or wells in your farming tiles. You would also get additional city benefits like health and you can produce grain which increases city growth pretty substantially 😊
The grain storage is a must for the amenity, but once you have that, i think i did the calculation and for a 4 zone region, you actaully get more total food with 4 farms buffing each other (especially once they get irrigated) than 3 + 1 grain storage. A common misconception is "oh +100% region food production, that means i get +2 food per turn if its a 2 food yield region". Nope, its +2 "production", out of a needed 10 production total needed to produce each 1 food per turn, or whatever the numbers are. Took me 20 hours before i realized that.
ok you may not like this but hear me out mathematically speaking, getting city health up is more efficient than farms in max difficulty at base 30 health (since no bonuses) you have 25% reduced growth cause of health. now if you have +5 health (apothecary) you will be put in 35 which puts you to 10% reduced growth. 15% increase (10 = 25 - 15) you basically get the work of 5 farms for 1 building. you will get penalties from city tier 5 and every 5th tier after. but thats not a concern when trying to not die in act 1 AND you can just build more apothecaries.
Man I already feel like I’ve had my fill of this game now. The late game, specifically when at war, is just an absolute ballache. The crafting of materials to produce units is just painful. Anyway I’m just venting my experience. Lol Good video mate!
I hated it too, until i stopped playing it like Civ and started playing it like Shadow Empire or other wargames. Set up workshops ONLY infinitely producing stuff you need for your army. One workshop for iron, one for wheels etc. Then you never have to worry about it, except if you run out, which is an interesting consquence of poor long term planning or war of attritions that other games dont model at all. Because yeah, MANUALLY fiddling with every resource "i need 4 wheels and 2 iron" is a disaster. Dont do that to yourself.
oh this was amazing! really looking forward to more. maybe turn down the number of civs to like 24 until you get out of act 1? like, i'd watch hours of you figuring out and ramping up to full thunderdome.
I really like the game and have been playing it on high difficulty too but, at the moment, i am putting it on hold, waiting for the developpers to correct the big problems regarding the army management. When we will be able to upgrade units and reintegrate them in reserves i will be back. They are working on it, i believe. Till then, i am satified watching yur videos. :)
One of the things with AI difficulty in this game is that the AI gets free prestige per turn and free growth, making it quite a challenge until you get the enlightenment synergies online.
Wow! I'm playing one wrung up from normal working my way up, but the most difficult tier is INSANE. well, you do have a million civs on the map but still that's o.0
You are not ready for max difficulty my dude, but I appreciate your enthusiasm. Keep at it. I'd advise you to not focus this much on the 1 production items when you have major QoL issues. In the second age prioritize the new government. Don't keep your army separated, you can declare war, capture a city and the war ends without allowing your enemy to react even if they have 10 times as much army, exploit that. There's no point in settling cities if you don't have free land as in the setup you are doing. It's better to blitz an AI city. Build shit you need right now, spamming dwellings and logging camps was pointless. You are on the money about growth being key, which is why you should go for grain stores.
Very entertaining premise - it definitely got me to click and watch. Also love your attitude towards failure. Maybe tone down the number of cities. Having 2 enemy capitals within a few tiles of your starting point is kind of farcical. Why not just work on a more "normal" max diff run, with around 12 civs?
This game is very flawed, this is the most fun i'll ever have with ARA. I dunno, I really think ARA will be dead as soon as CIV 7 hits, maybe even sooner.
I feel this game is overrated. I just can't get into heavy micromanaging and the leaders just don't connect overall. Everything feels worse as the game progresses. 😢
Would love to see you play this more!
A bit (ok VERY) complicated... but I feel like it's the Civ 7 we all wanted!

Also, stoves are really good later on as an amenity, giving all reigons of the city +1 food fertility. It's really good if you need extra food.

Love the content Potato. Your pronunciation of Oaxaca was, well, interesting. Keep up the good work mang!
Just in case it’s Wah-hah-Kah. Totally understandable for someone who didn’t grow up there
This was very entertaining, please do more. :)
I really like Ara's culling system, combined with the flexible scoring.
Potato i love you, but hearing you say "Leyasu" instead of "Ieyasu" made me take like 15 psychic damage
That first game was your only chance at actually surviving. haha
Been enjoying the ARA vids :) keep them coming
"Let's fight this lion, seems like a reasonable thing to do."
Great quote!
Been playing this freaking game every night. Civ with crafting tickles the pickle in the best way lol
It requires an excessive amount of micro management though
0:46 The way you said "Oaxaca" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 *chefs kiss* perfect potato made my day.

also negative QoL stats is weird.
cause they have a weird requirements (21 then 31 then 41)
unlike positive QoL thresholds (60 then 70 then 80)
Bro, I can't believe my mom is bringing you tea...just like that.
Love this ARA vids! keep it up Potato, as always greetins from Chile m8
The High Dif is total RNG - and it's RNG on RNG - i haven't been able to crack the top dif but i'm getting close.

Do more please. Oh and i myself love the longplay episodes with less edits
As I've gotten older, I employ (and enjoy) the warfare side of 4X games less and less, but your videos are making me reconsider...
yes would love to see you go hard on this game
this was exciting. Thunderdome EP2 when?
oh this was amazing! really looking forward to more. maybe turn down the number of civs to like 24 until you get out of act 1? like, i'd watch hours of you figuring out and ramping up to full thunderdome.
A skirmish war really shouldn't allow you to raze cities, perhaps not even occupy them.
Epic love to see how you learn to play this game 😊
Was really excited for this in Civ VI, not overly interested in this game, but that's just me. Love the content as always
5:07 Thunderdome became Tundradome
Would love to see a bit more of Ara, maybe a playthrough on lower difficulty for some strategies and then more thunderdome!
I love every Thunderdome video
Sappho is a playable leader in this game? *Sappho is a playable leader in this game???*

To click on another unit in a tile you hover over and can click inside the tooltip on specific formations
Hey Potato i am going to see Fontaines DC this weekend. Anything i need know?
12 nations and picking a strong war civ will help. War is the only way to beat the AI at this difficulty because you can't outproduce the AI.
keep full nations i want more of this!!!

Does Aztec ability activate with fighting tribes?
more please. i lke watching you suffer heavy micromanagement. also, i think growth is not as important when your neighbor is taking your cities.
Do you think you're one of the best Civ players in the world? Would you play Zuckerberg?

This game feels disconnected to me. I could never really get into a flow that seemed to engage me to pursue anything.
you did found the tribe huh?

Maybe help yourself a bit and play as Xerxes as well?
Oh hey, a traditional part of a playthrough. I missed these as they are much easier viewing for me, as opposed to having to set aside 2 hours.
