I learnt an amazing hack I learnt from my grand mother when tempature gages weren’t thought of or made back then, I’d love to share with you how to test readiness of oil by using a wooden tooth pick dipping into the oil as the heating processes has started soon as little bubbles release around the tooth pick it shows the readiness of your oil, what they call a medium rolling boil is perfect so each time you dip the tooth pick if not alota bubbles it’s not quite to frying temp but if rapid bubbles are forming turn down your element, meaning to high and you will burn your food by it cooking to rapidly and if bubbles are nicely bubbling it’s the perfect temperature to begin your frying, Hope this takes the guessing game out of oil temp readiness with out using a thermometer. Love the video this will be my first time making these thankyou love from 🇨🇦
Over the last 5 years , you've taught me how to make the most wonderful rice and so many dinners that made my kids and friends so happy and I'm so grateful to you.🤗 Thank you 🤗
Oh, my gosh! I just made these with some pulled pork my hubby did on the smoker yesterday. AMAZING! He said these are the best taquitos he has ever had. Thank you so much! I can't wait to do more. I made 10, cooked 4 right away to try, saved 6 for dinner, and have 20 in the freezer. Thank you so much! I will be skimming your videos for more great recipes.
I have always done it the way you show here. I recently tried using a large cookie sheet and brushing oil on both sides of the tortillas and overlapping them a bit on the sheet and putting them in a 400 degree over for 10 - 15 mins It works
Today I made a variety of you Taquitos! I just wanted to send out a big thank you!! My family is costing me a chunk at the grocery store buying store bought frozen taquitos~ Delicious!
Just made a batch of a dozen for dinner tonight, thanks! Edit: In five days of practice, I'm getting compliments from my partner about how good these are. Worth it, definitely on the house menu now.
I bumped onto your channel not too long ago and love how detail you are and why you do what you do, very educational. I've done floutas as per friends with the toothpick, this seems a lot easier and really no waste, I've had my corn tortillas crack on me but heating them up in a coat of oil of some sort, softens them. Thanks so much!
I have made more than 6 of your recipes and my husband calls me "cooking mama" lol. I have your cookbook and several recipes written down. I recently made your stove top fried pork carmitas with coke and evaporated milk... it was amazing 👏 😍 so I had about a pd of meat left over so I made pork carnitas taquitis and flautas!! With your green salsa and avocado 🥑 😋 wow!! Then I made pork chops with salsa Verde sauce with yellow rice! I mean girl.. I Love your food!! Thank you for sharing your gufts!gifts!! And your voice calms me down.
Just made taquitos today and my tortillas kept unrolling in the shallow fry even though I put them seam side down - thank you for the slurry tip!! My taquitos will be perfect next time. Thank you!!
Angelica! I LOVE the tips in this video! I've always used toothpicks when making flautas but I think using the flour/water paste will make cooking flautas so much easier! I also really appreciate you showing us how to freeze them. Great info amiga! Gracias!
I love these but never really knew how to make them to where they'd stay together. Now I think I'm ready to give it a try 🙂 Thank you so much for your instruction and tips😊
as usual I can't wait to try. I live in metro Detroit but have visited Texas many times and love the san Antonio area ( sry can't spell). I wish I could find a market like the ones you shop lol. ie learned so much from you an I want to thank you!!!You are beautiful and kind and have a lovely family. I love the video where you visit your grand parents
I do love the simplicity of your video! Thank you so much. This was not what I was looking for (apparently I forgot the name), but yay now so know that flautas and taquitos are literally the same thing! Hilarious.
This the first video about taquitos that actually is correct with how to roll and stick together, thanks. I have usually used egg wash but will try the flour method next time. By the way the other videos claiming taquitos are really burritos
We always called flautas using the flour tortillas and taquitos for using corn tortillas 😆. I just put the tortillas in microwave for 1 minute and they roll up nicely and stay closed when frying 😉
Looks and sounds great! I've also found that for those of us who do not like to fry, for whatever reason, there is a baked option. Fixed and treated just the same (except we always add cheeses and peppers to the filling), then on an oiled sheet pan into a well preheated 425 oven for 15-20 minutes. Are they as good as fried? Nope. But they are still really, really good. And if you are lucky enough to have a Mexican Market nearby, fresh corn tortillas make an incredible improvement. Cheers all! And thank you M
I want to thank you for your tutorial. Years ago I tried to make rolled tacos and I didn't do it right, they fell apart. I was a bit sceptical of trying again, until I watched your video. I gave it a shot, lo and behold it worked. My boyfriend raved about them. They're delicious topped with melted cheese, guacamole, sour cream and salsa. Again thank you.
Thanks simply mama, my taquitos always unravel, ill definitely do the pre-oil soaking thing also. I slowcooked a whole t-bone steak and it's gonna be great for some tacos and fresh charro beans.
Great idea for the flour! I’ve been wanting to try something different than tooth picks or spaghetti noodles when out of picks lol. I just feel like they get in the way of turning them over! I love how you freeze them too! Nice prepping!
Thank you for making this video. It’s nice to get your recipes. You always give us the tips that keep us from making big mistakes. Sure missed your videos.
Oh my goodness that looks delicious my sister used to make the best taquitos Floutes ever her homemade salsa 😋 to die for ❤ and her beans and rice, the more you eat the more you toot toot if my words mean worth anything. To your soul I really do miss you little sister 😊❤😢 happy holidays 💖
Loved the way you used the flour water paste to seal the tortilla. What I did not see you do was date your bag of frozen tacquitos before putting them in the freezer. Just use a sharpie works great 😊
Wow some good tips on sealing with the paste! I always hated using toothpicks but no other good way to seal. And freezing then refereeing so they don’t stick together. And, lightly toasting first the tortilla first is more work but perfection!❤️
This video is awesome. I absolutely HATE watching videos and I watched this one 2x even. So extremely helpful too. Ima go fry up some flautas now. Thanks so much!
I have used the sealing method for chimichangas too, but for the taquitos I dip the ends with a slightly thicker paste to seal the ends against the fat. Also, I use masa harina mixed with flour half and half. Good job.
Thank you so much for your time in making this video. I can't wait to try this without the toothpick hack. Gosh, at 8:12 you gave me the cravings to go out and get this done! 😆
So helpful! Your process is so clean. I make a crazy mess when I make flautas, but I’ll use your flour paste technique next time and it should keep things cleaner. 😘
I've made flautas many times and I always warm my tortillas up in the microwave it's faster. I don't need a seal I roll my flautas and lay them on the seam in the hot oil and they seal themselves. Easy.
I like the flour paste to close them instead of the toothpicks. I'm going to do this next time I make them. Thank you for the tip. I just love your videos so easy to follow.
I add chicken with cheese in my tacitos. So yummy! And then my dipping sauce is contadina tomato sauce, I add garlic powder, crushed red pepper and salt. All to taste and heat level.
Thank you for sharing all your recipes. I’m a new sub here and I’m gluten and dairy free but I can alter your recipes for my allergies. This recipe is basically GF/DF minus the flour for sticking. Thank you again. Take care and God Bless🙏🥰✌️

You can also do it with a wooden chopstick!
Over the last 5 years , you've taught me how to make the most wonderful rice and so many dinners that made my kids and friends so happy and I'm so grateful to you.🤗 Thank you 🤗

Sounds so convenient to freeze them for a quick serving later.
Thanks for sharing that tip.
I like how you say, “tortilla!” ❤😉👏
I learned 2 things from you today, using oil spray on the tortillas and the flour paste. OMGosh, thank you! (Why didn't I think of that? Lol)
I learned the same things too. Now to give it a try!
I learn so much from this Channel!
I have always done it the way you show here. I recently tried using a large cookie sheet and brushing oil on both sides of the tortillas and overlapping them a bit on the sheet and putting them in a 400 degree over for 10 - 15 mins
It works
Thanks! I’ll try that!
What kind of tortillas did you use? Because I warmed mine up for like 10 seconds and they ripped in the oven. I used soft white corn tortillas.
Probably just the straight corn ones.
Try again. With a test group of 2.
what kind of oil do u use? i got vegetable oil
Great tips! I love your calm manner, I get real nervous when I try new recipes. Thank you for sharing your recipes.
Today I made a variety of you Taquitos! I just wanted to send out a big thank you!! My family is costing me a chunk at the grocery store buying store bought frozen taquitos~ Delicious!
I spent most of the '90's in San Diego and I love comida Mexicano authentico! Gracias maestro!
That one channel where you're like totally stuffed and then like "Ohhh but THIS!!" That's this one.. YUM, YUM, YUM!!
Just made a batch of a dozen for dinner tonight, thanks!
Edit: In five days of practice, I'm getting compliments from my partner about how good these are. Worth it, definitely on the house menu now.
I also agree on the tortilla method. I just can't bring myself to microwave them because the still tend to tear
I agree, use the stove or griddle method.
That is the best idea on how to freeze the flautas!!!! Thank you for this!!!!
I've learned so much from you.
Could you do a video on different things you can do with tamale corn flour mix besides tamales?
Oooooooo. That looks so delicious. I can’t wait to try this quick and easy meal. Thanks for sharing your recipe with us. Stay safe.
Great ideas for rolling and freezing.
Really cool recipe and the way you freeze them before you store them in the zippy! Super Clever!!😎👍🏼🙏🏼

You are a great teacher. You make everything look easy. I love your videos.
I live the idea about freezing them.
minced onion, shredded jack and dipping salsa would have brought them to five stars😋
These look so delicious and I love the idea of being able to free some of them! Thank you for another wonderful recipe
Now I see what I did wrong last time! What else can we put in besides chicken? Anybody wanna say:
@@Sanity_Faire shredded beef, canned roast beef, green chile with beef, etc.
@@deliabravo3671 Oooo, yeah!
The possibilities are endless! Do you thaw them before frying or just go for it straight from the freezer?
@@annamartinez7031 I would think you need to defrost them first. You don't want ice crystals in hot oil which will lead to oil splattering.
Love how you teach all with love and believe that we can prepare these ourselves TY
Love your videos! I made your birria queso tacos with consomme for the first time. So good. They were a family hit
The freezing them before putting them in a container, is genius. I learnt something new today! Thank youuuuu
Great tips !! I will try it without the toothpick next time. The freezer method you use makes so more much sense.
I have made more than 6 of your recipes and my husband calls me "cooking mama" lol. I have your cookbook and several recipes written down. the flour water paste is BRILLIANT!! i never thought about that for taquitos
I love these but never really knew how to make them to where they'd stay together.
Now I think I'm ready to give it a try 🙂
Thank you so much for your instruction and tips😊
Thank you for this amazing recipe I am south Asian and my mom always makes this paste it’s magical!!
as usual I can't wait to try. I live in metro Detroit but have visited Texas many times and love the san Antonio area ( sry can't spell). The freezer point was golden. Thanks a bunch.
Omg! The crunch! I’m prepping breakfast sandwiches today, tomorrow I will be making these for the freezer, so yummy. Thanks for sharing
I do love the simplicity of your video! Thank you so much. This was not what I was looking for (apparently I forgot the name), but yay now so know that flautas and taquitos are literally the same thing! Hilarious.
Texas makes flautas with corn tortillas and flour tortillas is used on the West Coast.
Anyone else's mouth watering???!!! Simply Mama it looks sooooo YUM.
I always cook mine that way too for enchiladas. I like soft cooked tacos too. I think it brings out the good corn flavor
Love your recipes! Love the way you prepare & cook. Im making these today for superbowl and now NO TOOTHPICKS!! YAY
Love this ! your a very good cook ! Thank you for sharing with us

Oh my God I love taquitos so much! Thank you so much for this recipe!
Thank you 🙏 I learned a few things. I like how you used the water & flower mixture to seal your taquito’s 👍
Freezing them in a layer first so they don’t rip
You’re a genius !!! Love your videos
me encanto. gracias, estaba buscando cual era la mejor manera de congelar los taquitos y salio tu video. lo voy a intentar, gracias.
Thank You for sharing looks delicious. Gonna try the flour paste to seal the tacos instead of toothpicks. Have a Blessed evening.
We always called flautas using the flour tortillas and taquitos for using corn tortillas 😆. I just put the tortillas in microwave for 1 minute and they roll up nicely and stay closed when frying 😉
I used corn masa as glue and IT WORKS! ❤ Makes them certainly gluten free.
Those are one of my favorite things, thanks for showing us how to freeze them. Have a great day 🌸
Seriously, one of my favorites meals. They look perfect!
Just subscribed. I'm so happy I finally got to do flautas without them breaking and tearing up apart. Thank you !!!! 😊 they were delicious!!!

You’re so smaaaaart! Toothpick method almost makes it like “is it even worth it?” Thanks Mamá. I’m gonna be so fat! ☺️
Thank you for this recipe!! When you freeze the taquitos, do you fry them frozen or let them thaw before frying?
I'd fry them frozen, like frozen egg rolls or french fries.
You saved the day! They came out perfectly! Thank you so much!!
