It is indeed but I found out later that's the dry off, and you have to open the pedal Everytime you want to sound like that to switch it on and off, or you're stuck without the dry signal on every other mode. I got it anyway it's awesome, but to me it had to be a switch on the front, like the short/long toggle.
Mine will be here tomorrow... I was buying this because I heard Guthrie Govan using it (original Hall of Fame)on Steven Wilson's tour. This is the demo that sold me on Hall of Fame 2 though ua-cam.com/video/YdoVPpkm1k8/v-deo.html and now I am just watching as many demos as I can before it arrives in the mail. This is a great practical demo btw.
Not sure if you are referring to me or the op but I am loving it. The Mash on Shimmer is a little hard for me to control but right now I am using the Hall setting with the Level between 10 and 11 o'clock, the Decay at 11 o'clock and the Tone at 1 o'clock. I started with them all at 12 o'clock and adjusted from there. I'll definitely get around to trying other settings but for now this setting is working perfect for my taste. Thanks again for the demo!
What I like most is just the fact that it has stereo out puts and in puts. Where the other units like this do not. But on the other hand this unit has no reverse reverbs like Electro-Harmonix Oceans 11 Digital Reverb Effects Pedal. I will most likely go with the EH pedal.
The pedal in this video sounds so much better than you "Hof 2 vs Rv-6" video. I was gonna get the Boss pedal but now I can't decide again :( Main use will be ambient metal and post rock stuff.
Just picked one of these up. Any one else’s level and Decay knobs not start working until around the 10oclock mark? Seems like a rather large dead zone. I returned my first one and got a replacement and it’s the same. Anyone else?
I just uploaded a video comparing the two :) check it out @ ua-cam.com/video/i44HFOLzhUw/v-deo.html I don't really prefer one or the other.. but I like the versatility of the TC more so than the Boss.. toneprint stuff is really impressive :)
hi ryan! having a real hard time picking between the hof2 and immerse. which one do you prefer? money isn't really an issue here i just want the one that sounds better XD
i remember the original seemed so quite and murmur-like: i knew it'd get buried in the mix. others have said the same thing. do you get that feeling about this version ??
hey GREAT review! I really have a pretty desperate question btw. So for super ambient and spacious sounds should I buy this or the RV 6? I have a gig this saturday so THANKS!
Hey I know it’s a old vid just wanted your opinion I got the digitech polara and I like the trail feature does this do the same also if I’ve had both pedals which one has a better mod setting to it,? Would I be able to do a tomeprite to get the halo setting the polara one has I really like that setting . Any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks for your time and content
Hi Ryan! Have you checked out the valeton coral verb and coral delay? I think they have like 11 modes each I just saw them on Amazon and I was thinking of buying one ...can you do a review of those?? :´v they seem pretty interesting for the price
I like your sound. Seems like 99.9% of pedal reviewers across all of UA-cam either play blues licks, hard rock or maybe ambient. But you play more my style. As an acoustic guy for 15 years I'm now finally exploring electric. I finally found a channel that throws down some pure rhythm tracks on pedals I'm considering buying. For me it's between HOF2 or the Immerse in all my research the last month. Not sure yet what I'm going with. Let me ask how you get that rich clean sound at the start of the video. What amp are you using? Thanks for posting.
you have to take off the backplate and flip some switches :) ua-cam.com/video/QDs2x2LHhkQ/v-deo.html here is a video I made showing how to do it step by step, hope it helps!
Nah it seems pretty lacking compared to the Oceans 11 to my ears. And the EHX is more customizable in most modes with a whole dial for pre delay settings too
@@metal571 I also prefer the spring sound on the Oceans 11 but budgets are a thing so I had to decide whether or not to sell my HOF 2 and replace it with the Oceans, or keep it and buy the Oceans. I love every other setting on the HOF and I love the stereo function (pairs extremely well with Flashback 2) so I can’t let it go. I’ll just have to save up for the Oceans 11 I guess.
when i turn my tone and level knobs all the way up on the shimmer setting i get this run away shimmer effect that keeps building up louder and louder until it is unbearable and i have to shut the pedal of to make it stop. i'm running the pedal in my fx loop. any ideas what could cause something like this
@@crottedepingouin I did a bunch of test and found that it would only do the runaway feedback thing when I had my MXR 10 band EQ pedal turned on. So I messed around with the settings on the EQ pedal and now everything is fine. I can turn the level and tone knobs on the HOF2 all the way up and it works great.
it depends. I imagine that it is same to the original Hall of Fame in the fact that it has an internal dipswitch to turn on trails or not, so you can decide wether it kills the reverb when you turn it off or the reverb keeps going.
Yeah you have to take off the back plate and there are two switches.. when you read the manual youll see the configurations for "Kill Dry" and switching between True and Buffered Bypass.
Ryan Lutton how hard would it have been to make the kill dry switch be on the outside? I mean really, that's a pretty integral feature for ambient sounds and needs easy access.
rblyle382 & alexb618 I agree the ease of access for more ambient players is a shame.. I don't think they were approaching the pedal in the same way as Neunaber did with the Immerse.. kind of like how the MXR M300 Reverb has a switch inside selecting between "Stereo and Mono" the reason for that is because its something you set to your preference and then leave.. the same is usually the case for people choosing between True and Buffered bypass they'd want to set it and leave it.. I think TC approached Kill Dry from the point of view of people wanting to use it in an effects loop, something those players wouldn't necessarily change very often :)
I'm pretty sure all the algorithms are the same.. other than shimmer which is new.. and the HOF 2 has less presets and more toneprints which i think is a plus so I'd say I prefer 2 :)
no the immerse has longer reverb decay :) the only pedal I've had that comes close is the bigsky on cloud mode.. I thought maybe the HOF could have longer reverb when using tone print but i can't seem to see that ability on the editor
That church part at 25:19 is breath taking. It sold me..

should be stored as a "robin guthrie preset".
Gosh you know how to test a reverb. Thanks for the tails with varying tones.
This is the best demo of this pedal online. I have it and can't wait to use it soon!
Thanks Jason! Hope you enjoy the pedal!

Excellent demo, thanks
you are the man ryan!!!
Son muy sutiles los cambios entre uno y otro tipo de Reverb. Son todos parecidos.
Would you still prefer the rv-6 over this one? Thanks a lot for your videos btw, made some decisions already thanks to them!
The best review!!
which do you think is best big sky or this hall of fame 2 ? trying to decide which to buy.

It doesn't click cause of the MASH control.. Its a pressure sensitive bypass switch :)

When you press bypass while the effect is ringing, does it cut the reverb immediately or does it leave the last trail until it dies?

Ryan Lutton do you think they might upload a tone print for a longer decay?? Seems like they dropped the ball to compete with the big sky.
Tc vs boss vs zoom ms70cdr
Ms70cdr got good dripping spring reverb
7:05 makes no sense. Small reverb setting turned all the way down, mash button to make it sound like you turned the level knob from 0 to like 3 or 4
