Excellent story!! Beautiful place! However St John, Virgin Islands is part of the USA still. So technically speaking they are not "Ex-Pats" of the USA. However good on them as most people never will attempt to fulfill their dreams. A++++
Great show guys. Thanks for putting up the full episode. Love the Mango Ale. I find that in the Total Wine and more here in south Florida. Little piece of the islands on the mainland. Cheers!
Are you truly an Ex-Pat, if you are living in a US territory......I think not......but they are enjoying their lives and that is what's important......goo for them.....
Brings back alot of memories! I lived In StThomas back in the early 80's with my family. We used to go over to Hans Lolick and hang out. Used to have Hermit crabs and donkeys!!
you guys are my heros. i spent my fair share of money in the tap room and cant wait to come back. i only wish i could get your stuff in louisiana namely the pumpkin smash
Great show! I like the fact the host asks the real meat and potatoes questions about how to get funding and about how difficult the startup phase is. I was half expecting a lot of the hard stuff to be glossed over, but I'm really surprised by the balance of the show.
I read a lot of travelogues, and have discussed with my wife leaving the US as it transitions into an economically collapsed socialistic police state. I've noticed most expats head for hot tropical locales, but we're dreaming of a snowbound log cabin in Northern British Columbia, or maybe a bungalow in some cool rainy spot in Tasmania or south New Zealand.
The definition of "expatriate" is "a person who lives outside their native country". So even if it is a US territory, it is not the physical USA, so they are considered expats
Just back from visiting family (Shout out to Skytop, Fish bay!) and the new space is amazing. I am from Philly so we have quite a few micro and nanos. These guys on Love City put out a very solid product.
...how in inspiring well done...there is always a way to Stay where You Love when You Have Desire and the right System...Where would You Like To Live??
The first $95.1k you earn overseas, you do not pay US taxes. Look up foreign income exclusion and then click on the link to the IRS page. Sorry, but I don't believe I can include a link here even to the IRS web site.
If you were willing to risk it all, live on a boat, do menial work and come up with entrepreneurial ideas. Then work your ass off to make those ideas come to life, you can.
Its funny, my family home town in Goa is kinda like this. Big house on the beach, surrounded by hills nearby. So many people are jealous of it, but I can't stand to live there for extended periods of time. I like my modern conveniences like plumbing, hot showers, fast internet, etc.
take what you love and turn it into profit. i'm a rapper/beatmaker/writer/director & actor. and i love rum so i might start my own rum company and move down there, where i can still record my music, make films, etc.. :)
+Zen Starwalker I made beats back in the day I wanted to be J Dilla but the game is all messed up these days, unless you make the same 808 down south crap that's on the radio. Good luck with everything I hope you make it.
i feel you on that, i actively oppose the industry or i'da been famous already, so im doing it all on my own now. but boom bap is making a come back so you never know :)
I need to find a different profession so I can relocate! My sports flooring business does not work on an island! I want the island life so bad I am willing to spend a few years learning a new skill that will actually work anywhere? Any suggestions? IT maybe?
I also want to leave the U.S. but won't their be the paying taxes to U.S. problem. I think only the U.S. has it citizens pay taxes on a out of country income. How do people ever make it paying two income taxes.
Hi guys! I just want to say that I loved seeing you guys swimming underwater! I also loved seeing the waterline showing when going all the way underwater and coming all the way out of the water at the same time because of the wave! And I also loved the part where the waterline was showing when going all the way underwater with you guys and one of you was waving underwater for real and seeing people swim underwater and seeing the part where the waterline was showing when coming all the way out of the water with you guys! You guys looked pretty nice and beautiful! Especially you Savannah in your bikini swimsuit swimming underwater!👙🐳💕🌊❤️🐋💦💧👍🦈🐬😍🐟🥰😊
One of the first stories I've seen on Reserve Expats where the guys didn't date/marry a local woman!??? What's up with that? They broke the trend. I notice that the show does try to highlight "romance" with a local as one of the benefits of being an expat. Hmmm....
Your ignoring cost can food when i was last there. IN ABOUT 2001 A can corn was 4dollars usa. Green beans 5 dollars. No food can be sent thru mail because cant afford postage . You wouldnt know that unless went there looked. Of course gona bragg it it up. It is beautiful. Big BUT???
Only it ain't the socialism of Canada and present-day Europe. It's a new mutant socialism where the benefits of socialism are rewarded only to the rich and the large corporations. Everybody else has to pay the costs, and both the USA major political parties are bought and complicit.
Good god, another Island beer and schlock store, shoulda stayed in the cubicle. Cheech, really, Cheech? The Tap Room, very original.............. Poor little rich boys............. What drudgery, working a cherry job in your 30's, and we wonder why the rest of the world hates us. Yuck!
No idiot they don't have a different government. You're an idiot. The government is like that of the states. I swear some people are idiots. And expat has nothing to do with governments jackass. Fact of the matter is they are still in America
+C.S.A .Independence™ you really are an idiot. They don't pay federal taxes that's why they have their own irs. And yes they can't vote for president but they can vote in the presidential primaries. Historically territories were excluded from voting for president for numerous of reasons. They are subject to the statues congress makes hence why the VI doesn't have its own constitution like Other states and Puerto Rico. They don't have a different government. You're talking to a guy who studies Political and government.
why would you wanna live in the carribean? It fucking blows id rather live in LA or New York where theres lots of culture and intellectual ideas are flowing freely, lovely women, etc
20:21 BEST part of this video

Peace comes from within, not without. Find a lake near your house and watch a sunset. Close enough and you can still be around your family hopefully.
Very nice story, well made video. Enjoyed watching this, thank you

They were already rich, this doesn't motivate anyone! Their story makes me wanna throw up! I'm low key jealous, lol

They said the boat name was Shoes With No Socks. I think they should create a beer called Brews With No Socks.
Kevin sounds and looks like Edward Norton.

Is living in the USVI really considered being an Ex-Pat?
What would you prefer as a future ex-pat: To live closer to the states in the Caribbean or further abroad in a totally different country from the US?
They are a nice couple

You are a bummer
it's the US Territory yes but they have a different government therefore they are Ex-Pats.
