Lmao idk why but when the cord broke and you just looked at the camera saying oh no no no no no I laughed so hard I almost cried lol not very mature of me beings I'm 38 years old but the look on your face was priceless lol love the vids keep them coming
Okay to me it seems stupid to check the spark plug to see if it is good, when the thing is brand new! But I guess people will do anything just to make a video! 👎👎👎👎
You are a humbling young man and I salute you. I fished for over 70years and find right now I would give anything to just putt putt out there in your rig and enjoy a day. No need for the high price toys of yesteryear. They produced no more fish than can be had in this little rig. Enjoy life, God bless
Sir, I identify 100% with your take. I'm a 75 year old Florida native who has enjoyed my best life experiences on the water with a rod or speargun. Sir, Keep on keeping on. If you can still cast, you are living the dream. I salute you. 🤙👍👏
Thanks for the video !!! Back when I was sixteen (over 50 years ago now) I got a lightweight, air-cooled outboard called a "Cruise-N-Carry." I mounted it on an inflatable boat and fished the crap out of it. Caught lots of trout, even a few trophy-size ones. I never expected it to last as long as it did but it just kept on running.
I just bought one of these motors for my Intex Excursion 4. I just unboxed it, put it on a saw horse and fired it up. The motor is 180 degrees from the one you have videoed. It popped on the first pull and started on the second. It's about the same noise level as a weed-eater. I am very impressed with the design and quality. I can't wait until spring to have it in the water.
I was fishing out of a ski boat one day. A guy comes by and says, “That’s not a fishing boat.” I said, “Today it is.” On that day, I caught the biggest Crappie I’ve ever caught. Fish don’t know or care what you’re fishing out of.
I spent $175 on a $300 crossbow and I'm nailing bullseyes standing at more than 50 yards, with pretty deep penetration too. It really gets under the skin of a guy who bought a Ravin and can't hit a bullseye at 20 yards.
It's awesome but loud. A friend of mine made his really quiet for no money extra. we found a piece of thin steel pipe, made a 180 degree bend with it, drilled a hole in the outer shaft housing and welded it to the shaft housing and muffler outlet. Then we drilled some holes below the water line so the exhaust goes underwater. Made it very quiet and you can still rotate it 360 degrees for reverse.
Looks like you got some good ideas and a little crap from some. You did the video telling everyone it was new to you and I think you did great. You had fun doing it and learned a lot. The people that give you crap usually are the ones that don't do anything. Just ignore them. We need more people to help each other. GOOD JOB !
when I've seen him fixing the engine with the pull start handle on the exterior of the boat ...I said maybe he will check the picture again...and he will fix the problem ..luckily he can turn the engine 😉
Thanks for this. I came across it by accident... Had no idea you could pick up an outboard so cheap. Need a new one for my sail boat tender after the wife dropped my $ 4000 torqeedo overboard. Now I'm trauling eBay and Amazon and can't believe the options... Remarkable I'll keep you posted... Iffin you're interested. Thanks so much for making this clip. Awesome... love your style BTW.
I have to agree with Kenny, you need to remove the four bolts and reposition the motor and the prop 180 degrees to what they are as well as the tiller handle. that way you can pull the rope from inside the boat with out turning the motor around. You might check with a boat shop about how far below the hull the propeller should be, to low or to high each causes a lose of propulsion.
You should use the filler screw hole to fill the foot. If you put a small tube on the bottle, you will avoid air bubbles. Fill with the engine vertical and add foot oil until it runs out the filler hole….no need to remove the shaft cover.
I love the way you are motivated and the pride you take in doing your thing. I bet you are more relaxed than many of us around today. Nuff love from Jamaica!!
I saw someone out in Boca had a similar set up as this lil motor on their boat but they made theirs from scratch from a predator motor! Their whole boat was made from scratch as well. It wasn’t pretty but I commend them for making it happen so they can get on the water and fish! 🎣 🛶
I got the exact same CHYneez motor on my weedeater and pole-chainsaw. I wonder if I can buy just the lower unit? It looks like all I need is the transom mount, the prop shaft and the tiller. that way I can go fishing , weedeat the campground, cut fire wood with the pole saw and then convert it to go fishing! This motor is okay, I don't have a lot of hours on mine. The air cleaner housing is pretty fragile, I figger ya get what ya pay for.
I was thinking the same thing. I have a 63cc post hole auger. That would be good, auger, pole saw, weed whacker and outboard motor. I bet that thing would make my kayak scoot right along. I think I might die of smoke inhalation by the time I get to the spot for fishing though.
Remount the engine so the exhaust is straight out the back. This will put your pull chord towards your throttle. This will put your tank to the side but the fill hole towards the boat for an easy fill👍
That engine looks really similar to the 2 stroke 30cc engines that come in 1/5th scale rc cars. They make expansion pipes that will wake that 2 stroke up.
I have the 4 stroke version of that. Sounds like yours is tuned better than mine. Best 2 pieces of advice o have it turn the power head 180° so you can use the tiller handle while starting. Also when your doing the pull the clutch spring out and put them in a vice. Heat springs with a torch and stretch them out a bit so the clutch engages at a lot lower rpm. Makes it easier to troll too
A friend of mine gave me a motor exactly like that one. He found that it made less noise and pushed his boat faster if he removed the spark plug and just repeatedly pulled on the starter rope, but his arm got tired. My wife's currently using it as a mixer.
Similar motor to a hole borer I bought! Mine also spits oil.. If you remount the motor to the shaft with the exhaust facing backwards you’ll get less smoke in you face and it will be easier to start without spinning the motor around 👍
Dude! Bro, great content, extraordinary narration and you held my attention riveted to see what the hell you would try next. KUDOS! BRAVO! Raise the bar and keep on goin' on! I signed up and will follow! Don't change anything with your delivery! 😂😅😊 Perhaps show more of your georgious wife. Let her be your fishing pro guide!!! Keep the momentum!!!
Was a kid with one of them weed whacking his way across the lake i live on last year... it was SO irritating to listen to that for an hour that if he came back i probably would have bought him an old 9.9 Johnson off FB just so i didn't listen to weeeeeeeeeeeee all flipping day.
Nice video chap!! It’s great to see a normal human being being a human being!! 👍👍 nice job! That engine is super tunable, and you could get about 7-8ph out of that one! Dilute your mixture to 40-1 and lean out a touch! Amazing difference!👍😎
Congrats on maiden voyage!!! Maybe remount engine so exhaust points backwards so doesn’t spit on transom? And extra sheer pins as they’ll snap if prop hits something as they’re “sacrificial parts”.
I did notice in the video there is a drain and filler hole with a alen head screw in it. You did not have to pull the prop and the gear cover off. And also when you have the prop leg down it also will be the oil level indercator so you fill till the oil starts to run out. Thats the way it is on most out board motors.
For the throttle cable part you’ll want to use the nut it gives you on the top side of that throttle cable, to ensure it doesn’t back out with the vibrations, though it is unlikely it would do to the nature of how the throttle cable works, but that is what that but is for if you feel it necessary
Nice. That little engine would work well on kayak I believe. I had a similar engine (not the lower unit) I used on a motorized bike I made about 12 years ago. That bike hit 35 mph gps and that little engine really ran well for a long time.
The gas tank goes in the back. That way the pull card will be facing you while your in the boat. Then you can hold the throttle bar while pull stating the engine without having to turn the engine around every time.
I was being funny but we have literally caught Fed-Ex throw our packages out the open door while passing about 20 mph. Another time, found the stereo system I ordered for my truck in the driveway in a rain storm. They delivered in the rain & I guess they didn’t want to get wet to walk it to the front porch!
Cool I put a 4 hp on my 14 ft semi V haul only went 2 mph lol but like you learned about boat motors then went and upgraded to a Yamaha 15 hp 4stroke gets me up to about 20mph love it keep fishing my friend
It seems to me you should take the head and lower apart then remount the head on it but rotate the head 90 degrees. That way the pull cord is aimed towards the boat and the exhaust would be aimed away from you. It would make starting easier and it wouldn't be as loud. Also you could weed whack the yard if you keep it off the boat. Lol
I've got the 4 stroke model of these motors. The clutch cone bearings seized up due to corrosion. $25 to replace the cone unit, but you may want to open this up and oil occasionally. Thanks!
7:25 Seems to me the most important thing pointing into the boat would be the pull cord handle to start the engine, not the gas tank. You don't want to have to get in the water to start the thing. 30:15 I can't believe he hasn't figured out by now that the engine is on backwards. You need to be able to start the thing from inside the boat. Also point the exhaust to the stern.
Always tie your mount screws together. They tend to vibrate loose and you can loose your engine. I put a long shank bike lock on mine thru the holes, also a theft deterrent. They sell Kevlar cord at most mower shops.
Love it. Iv always had expensive outboards honda yamaha mariner merck eveinrude EXT... and its good to see you can have a cheap weedeater engine outboard does just as good to an extent.
@@jlbf0786 still have one for my little gokart. Was limited to only 9500 rpm due to a restricted ignition. Popped on an rc ignition and see 13k now with power kicking in around 8k with gobs of torque
Would definitely recommend getting an electric trolling motor and getting a mount for the bow of the jon boat cause it’ll allow you to move around a spot without spooking the fish and also having to crank up the engine just to navigate tight mangroves.
Hey good job, I have 2.5 hp cruise&carry, that I bought off a buddy of mine because he couldn't get it started, he got if off his cousin, for the same reason. I got it running , just a throttle cable issue, That was 25 years ago, I still have it and its still running, those little 2 strokes hold up,,,,you don't need a 30,000 dollar boat to catch fish,,,enjoyed the video,,,, 'FISH ON'
I’d use new hardware and some loctite for sure. Wouldn’t you want to pull start it from inside the boat? Not sure if you can flip the motor to the lower unit. Awesome video man!
I had a 98 lr discovery & places would have same issues trying to problem solve it, it just did not like aftermarket parts, the pc would never read them right & not work, so had to get oem parts everytime, spent a lot to figure that out so thought I'd share that w u lol. Awesome boat!!! Fins up brother!!!
You can see that it has spiral bevel gears, that run more quietly than straight-cut bevel gears. Not that you would notice the difference with the rather loud exhaust.
Take the engine back off and turn it around so you can start it and have access to the spark plug without spinning it around every time. Thats what i would do anyway
The boat turned out good. That engine is just a knock off stihl motor. Just a weed wacker kombi motor. I've built/worked on a lot of these including the Chinese ones. I knew that cord was going to snap lol. These things are hit and miss. Quality is def super low but some last a while some never ever work without lots of repairs. Imo in a boat in the big water I wouldn't trust it. A pond sure. BTW the break in stuff is something I never follow just run it wide to seat the rings it'll have better performance that way. One other thing, you want to run that thing wide open at all times in the water or you'll break those clutch springs. It's meant to be run full throttle.
Motofarm mx Sorry mate , as a long time Stihl dealer and 40 yr small engine tech, they have nothing in common with a Stihl engine. They actually are roughly based on a old Kawasaki brush cutter engine, but have been changed and enlarged over time.
@@SouthFloridaFishingChannel Hi bud, yea this is the first, even if it does turn, it still looks unsafe a little. But that's ok, didn't think of that...So glad that every thing is starting to look up for you and you got both of your boats going.. thanks.
@@SouthFloridaFishingChannel Look at the ebay ad that you have on here, it shows pull cord to the front and gas tank on the side. Also your oil fill is the hex screw on the side of the lower unit. Take the screw out, add oil that it is jus to the middle of the screw hole. And fill it like it is on the boat so you dont over fill it. Other then that i enjoy your vids. I always look forward to yours and Capt. Dan's vids.
Dude you got it made! Love those shorts!!! Isn't it great how the most simple things can make us fishing persons so happy?! Great vid and I'm subscribed!
Great video you made me laugh for real. You installed the motor backward, overfilled the lube (way overfilled) flooded the carb(way flooded), suggested that you don't need to run it in water because of cooling but the reason to run it in water is to do with engine loads not cooling, you stuck a vinyl decal on a gas tank on a 2 stroke no less and you over-revved a brand new motor and suggested that oil spatter on a 2 stroke is not normal! Oooi vei man, seems mechanics, installations and decals aren't your thing but one thing you did right in this video was to buy a pretty decent outboard for under $200, so well done. Also Range Rover issues are as normal as oil spatter on a 2s. I really love how proud of yourself you are for leaning the motor back to fix it lol
I watched the video in disbelief, as a 16 year having grown up working on outboard motors this video made my realization come true. Not everyone should work or buy mechanical equipment.
I got one of these in nz for 150 nz cheap but pulled me out of the shit enabled me to get to my yacht thats all that mattered it still goes hard years later great thing is you will find a weed wacker motor nearly every where you sail so can be powered with a great variety of gas motors and even a 12 volt starter motor with adapter will run the lower unit so versatile and handy
@@Eluderatnight The saying goes: it's more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow. My guy was wide open the whole time. I'm reckon to bet he had more fun getting lost in the weeds than we had making fun of him! Holy smokes. And here go the jalopy craft to prove us wrong 🤷
Loose the clamp to slide the shaft and propeller up just under the bottom of the boat the shallows and landing on the beach will get the propeller if you aren't careful.👍 Hope its great first day. Even a better tomorrow. Catch the big one 😁
Thankyou for the information you shared. You probably know this but fyi, use non ethanol fuel always. Corn kills carbs! As for the difference in motors, 2hp vs 4 I would bet its nothing more than a restrictor plate behind the carb. You can increase that open diameter a little bigger with a drill and keep it smooth as possible. But be warned, you might do wheelies! Lol.
Complains about the cheap pull rope on literally the cheapest motor he could find 🤣🤣 but for reals love the video I just got my boat rockin this year and the Maiden voyage felt great, keep on fishin
I get 5 MPH, with my Minn Kota 55 trolling motor, on my boat & it is a heck of a lot quieter. I have ran it with a DC29 battery for over 20 miles up river & then back.
Each state is different depending on boat length. I only need to have 1PFD/passenger and at least minimal distress equipment (Orange flag day, whistle/horn at night)for under 14ft here. I recommend collapsible paddles just in case 9.9 won't start and troll motor batt goes kaput, oh yeah and proper operating lights for the night😜 of course.
I just bought an old jon boat and have been on the journey of tracking down motors ect to go on it. I bought a 5hp mercury and realized how expensive they are and i really wasnt happy with the speed. With all that said i wish i could be as happy as you were to just have the cheap $200 motor that does the same job. Guess were always tyring to get places faster and we need to slow down and save the $.
When that handle broke it brought me back 20 years to when I was a landscaper. We had to deal with that problem all the time. If you know how to fix it it's not that bad.
Just ordered this motor but the 4HP one. Watching this the noise would be annoying and now wish I had the bought the 90lb thrust electric with a new marine battery for a few hundred more. But I have a 9,9hp main motor and only wanted this as an auxiliary so for that it will have to do,. But your vid will certainly be a good help in getting it assembled so thanks
So I guess you'll stand in the water to start this engine? As mentioned earlier, the power head is mounted 180 out...Fuel tank in back and pull start tord the stern of the boat...!!!
Nice , my m8 had 1 of these little engines after a full day out he decided the engine is to noisy started giving him a headache so he did sumthing to the muffler and quieted it down alot

That's a weed wacker motor. 😜
Now you just gave me some idea
@@tdgdbs1 There is a company that makes a conversion kit. It's called the waterwacker.

Fun video. $200 + lots of courage. 5 mph is outstanding for that big boat.
Seems like a good kayak engine...For my native Propel 13...
We actually modify this engine in the goped community. Can be modified really well with porting, pipe and a carb.
Heck yeah, these 2 strokes can be hopped up pretty good.. carbs and ported almost double the power
@@jlbf0786 still have one for my little gokart. Was limited to only 9500 rpm due to a restricted ignition. Popped on an rc ignition and see 13k now with power kicking in around 8k with gobs of torque
Would definitely recommend getting an electric trolling motor and getting a mount for the bow of the jon boat cause it’ll allow you to move around a spot without spooking the fish and also having to crank up the engine just to navigate tight mangroves.
yea a front mounting one with foot pedal wood be perfect. they have a 50 or 80lb minn kota at walmart for like 250 i think, no assembly required
@@Reflectivepeen minnkota has gone way down hill
The thing w an outboard motor is you WANT THE PULL CORD FACING THE BOAT! Good luck starting you boat w the pull cord facing to the rear!
You took the prop off and all that when the drain was right there beside it
He doesn't seem to be the brightest..
Hey good job, I have 2.5 hp cruise&carry, that I bought off a buddy of mine because he couldn't get it started, he got if off his cousin, for the same reason. I got it running , just a throttle cable issue, That was 25 years ago, I still have it and its still running, those little 2 strokes hold up,,,,you don't need a 30,000 dollar boat to catch fish,,,enjoyed the video,,,, 'FISH ON'
I’m glad you got another engine bro.. I wasn’t getting the warm and fuzzies about that air cooled engine..
Hear these things double as one of the best nose and beaver trimmers in the world also great at letting the fish know your arriving
It’s gonna be interesting to see how long that lasts. I’m curious to see what they have in that lower unit for gearing and lube.
Probably water now. When he cracked the case he fit it wrong way around, I could see bare metal as he tightened the two screws. Not too clever
You can see that it has spiral bevel gears, that run more quietly than straight-cut bevel gears. Not that you would notice the difference with the rather loud exhaust.
I’ve never in my life seen anyone pull a starter rope like that.
more than likely why it broke on him smh. the torque is supposed to come from the end of the pull
Well its first and last video of his I've seen but he don't seem to qualified for anything
I don't think he's ever seen anyone in his life pull a starter rope... He's not even pulling it, he's jerking it.
@@CristiNeagu explains why he bought a range rover
I've never seen someone fill the cylinder with oil..... then complain about kickback and oil spatter.
Take the engine back off and turn it around so you can start it and have access to the spark plug without spinning it around every time. Thats what i would do anyway
exactly, noticed that when he mounted it
You do want the exhaust facing away from you
@@cargotoolshop5319 its on the side of the engine so it shouldnt matter either way.

😳hey,,😳,,,,,, did you see that !!!!! That was a REAL CAT,, right there on the boat 😝 great job ✌️
Just bought the anbul 3.6hp with electric start off amazon. Get to try it this holiday weekend on my canoe. Should be interesting.
No the Pull Cord is always toward you. if the cord slips or breaks, you fall into the boat not out..
The engine rotates 360 degree's. The manual showed the gas tank facing forward
Dan's vids.
@@SouthFloridaFishingChannel and you even said in your video the manual has a different engine...so...
You should get a 15-20 Hp marine motor for that thing to finish it off. That’s a sweet ride.
Remember 2 strokes Especially the cheapo ones gain power after a few tanks of fuel...soo you should pick up an extra 1-2 mph
so you figure top speed should be pushing...3.5 after a few tanks of fuel? lol
@@customledandfiberopticsinc2756 hahahaha
Dude you got it made! Love those shorts!!! Isn't it great how the most simple things can make us fishing persons so happy?! Great vid and I'm subscribed!
I'd use some loc-tight on the 4 down facing bolts.
When I put mine together I put the exhaust facing straight out the back. A little less noise. The pole rope will face into the boat.
Well, since it’s “shark week”, with that motor I guess we can say “You won’t need a bigger boat!”
Rovers are known to always have problems....good video 👍👍👍
At least you don’t have to worry about “no wake” zones.

I think this would be great on my flat back canoe...
I wonder if he put his shifter cable on backwards too 😂
Hey mate I made one out of a whipper snipper (weed whacker) and give the fuel mixture screws a tune and should stop the vibration good boating man👍🏼
"super good news, the Range Rover is working!"
Please understand that you should be counting your blessings!

That would be a pretty good back up or emergency motor when your out far.
Two or 3 hp is all ya need in a flat bottom boat.
@@timesthree5757 I beg to differ. Some people want enough power to actually move the boat
@@technologyguy101 my boat moves just fine. I'm not trying to win a sprint boat race and waste gas.
@Micheal I average 8-10 mph. how is paddling faster?
I get 5 MPH, with my Minn Kota 55 trolling motor, on my boat & it is a heck of a lot quieter. I have ran it with a DC29 battery for over 20 miles up river & then back.
Do you need a toss float, life jackets, lights, horn/ whistle, and a fire extinguisher like other boats?
