Your son will grow up with the knowledge that anything is possible regarding mechanical contrivances, because you are simply outstanding with discarded and abandoned machines. It bouys my spirit to think that as I get older, those things that I held dear and worked with were still held in regard and still preformed as designed. It is a metaphor for life, and very good viewing on youtube.
You're a man after my own heart, Marty! Everything fixed correctly, none of that 1/2 assed stuff. Neat and tidy makes me feel so good after watching some of the car builders on UA-cam. "Eh, that's good enough" smh You set a good example for your son. He seems a nice young fellow.
That was so satisfying! Clean it out immediately, inspect everything, replace what needs replacing, properly fix electrical issues, including wire loom, grease and lubricate everything. I've seen too many "will it run" videos where all they care about is short-term functioning, not even cleaning things out.
It's like spending time with your best mate as you fix stuff. Since I live in a different country to my mates you fill a void in my life. Thanks. Now pass me a beer and show me that again.
Another sweet resurrection Marty! A rather simple "running when parked" story. The top to bottom Inspection and PM job you did was terrific. That little runabout will good for many years of enjoyment. Maybe Toby's first boat? Naah - You will come across another diamond in the rough and restore it as apprentice and Master when the time comes. ♥
Watching you is always good for learning about a different & better way of fixing the problem. Your children have the best teacher to learn from, I wish I had a Dad like you..
I hope you take a look at the amount of Floatation Foam that has been lost, you can cut a sheet of foam and hold the pieces in place with spray foam. A single 2" x4' x8' sheet cut into pieces gives a quarter ton of positive flotation to the boat. And if you swamp the boat, the boat becomes a lifeboat to save your families' life's. Something that needs to ne looked at. But looking great!!
What a sweet deal! Great video demonstrating how to reuse stuff that would otherwise be junked. And what a great learning video for small boat owners! Brilliant
Beautiful job Marty! I forgot you are starting your winter down there, we are in the midst of high heat and a high-in-the-sky sun here in the US. Thank You
love this guy,, like I say, i know nothing about machinery but I could listen and watch this guy all day long,,, he's so calm about what he does , unbelievably knowledgable and makes his craft so incredibly interesting,,, you have one hell of a lifestyle and so very lucky 👍👍👍👍
Hi Marty, I’m always impressed with you. If you’re not mechanically minded you always explain what you are doing and I think it’s fantastic. Specially when you’ve got your son with you and he’s always learning all the time and you’re teaching the viewers of your UA-cam keep up the good work always appreciate your videos cliff from Queensland Australia. We’re on the big island
Another great Saturday Nights entertainment with NO b.s. Love watching your vids Marty, and yes I do learn a lot from you but love to see some of the things that I was shown by my Dad many years ago as well. Cheers, John.
Nice cleanup/restoration job! Seeing the buildup of mold and moss being pressure washed off is quite enjoyable. Kind of like an eraser for years of weathering.
Bro I literally brought the exact same set up for $1000 in Wellington 2 days ago. The trailer, boat and engine needs some work but watching this gives me hope. This has given me
Another good one, Marty. You have some right friendly hens, but watch that they don't eat your small parts. Nice seeing the kids, especially watching your boy helping out.
Nice little run-a-bout you've got there, Marty. It will be great to use for close to shore fishing trips and taking the boat out to get some fresh air and maybe do a little coastline exploring. I enjoyed the video on the process of getting the boat, motor, and trailer back in shape.
As a man who's all things wheels especially motorcycles, boat 2 strokes are a piece of work and in the past shoehorned in to race bikes with great success
Nice find. I've got a 25 hp Mariner of similar vintage. Mines an 84 model. That 30 hp looks like it pulls over a lot easier than mine, but mine has never given me problems and starts right up every spring after sitting all winter for the last 12 years in a row. I'm just glad it has electric start. All I do is clean the fuel filter, drain the fuel in the winter, and change the impeller, spark plugs, and gear oil every few years. Good motors and yes the trim tab is the anode.
Anutha great vid, nice ta See ya showing and explaining things to ur kids, great education fir them. Always enjoy your vids, plis makes me just a wee bit homesick.
It is always good to see an old boat getting a new life! Alloy boats were never very popular over here in the UK or Ireland. You were spot on with the annode on the motor. Off to the test run now...
As for the tyres if they're not too badly cracked I'd drop the pressure to 10-15psi and run them for a mile or 2 and then pump them up to 50+psi preferably with the weight off and let them cool, works a trick for cars that have been lying up.
It's an awesome Wednesday morning when I find a new MartyT episode in my feed. He always comes up with a new bit of something or another to fix up. This one was a really good find. It's amazing how fast his boy is growing up as we follow Marty's adventures fixing up others castor's. Won't be long till he's Dad's number one right hand man wrenching right beside Marty. Finding his own gems in need of fixin'.
Best boats you can own. Inexpensive, easy to maintain, tow, store and the v can handle a lot of water for its size. I have a old 14ft Monarch v with a 1998 15 hp outboard. Holds 4 ppl and is more fun / less worry and expense per $ than any other boat I have owned. I built a frame that holds a cover over the boat and have a dolly that lets me keep the outboard in the garage.
Hey Marty, I use inox on my JetSki and it keeps the corrosion away pretty good. Also spray it on my rods and tackle after it’s all been rinsed with fresh water. Love the videos bro
First time I've seen anyone test a thermostat on YT prior to installing it. Always a CYA procedure we were taught to guarantee integrity... That motor runs sweet...
Score. The kids are going to love this thing. I doubt they get as much excitement with all your old tractor and crawler scores. For that screen, I'd be cutting a big section out and supporting the curved corners with alloy T section and have a removable or folding flat-ish new front screen (alloy extrusion framed). Be nice to have the option of nice breeze/wind on summer days, and be able to climb and sit on the front when fishing.
put a small long hose on your spray gun...with an undercoating mist nozzle on the end of the hose...then use it to spray a mist of lanolin based rust proofing inside the steel tubing.....thats how we rustproof car rockers/pillars and truck frames up here in canadaland
Appreciate the thoroughness in your restoration. Hoping one day you might have a sandblaster for dealing with cleaning parts. Would love to see a video of having the windscreen polished with a before and after of visibility. :)
While you are under the engine cowling you can also lightly pull/tug on the fuel injection tubes as they have been known to break off at the spigot/connection locations. Fuel tubes can be visually inspected for cracking. Just a suggestion. Good job.
It’s great to see you back mate I hope you and your family are doing well and staying safe and healthy and your friends to mate thanks again for sharing your knowledge it’s amazing how you can do what you do love it.
i love how unimpressed your son was when you got it running well lol, he was like yep I expect nothing less from you dad, lets get this in the water hahahah.
Marty - An old trick I heard about cleaning insides of truck frame box sections... grab a long piece of threaded rod, two washers, two nuts, and a couple 8-12" pieces of chain. Sandwich the chain to the end of the rod, mount the other end in a drill, and send it down the tube. The chain will rub the rust off at least most of it, and if you go slow it'll whip itself into the square corners a bit too with the slack slamming into the edges.
Your First Mate is doing a great job. A strip of aluminum glued along the base of the windshield. To add strength. Your skill of repairing is only match to skill of finding equipment. Be it has tires, tracks or floats.👍🏻🥝

you son wants some attention lol
Great video for Father's Day.
@@Melicoy weird way of tellin us ur gay.
@@Cilado Somebody always has to be a smart A donkey and poison the water for us all.....
Perhaps. My dad was just like Marty...and I can hardly find the motivation or patience to change the oil in my vehicle. 😅 I'd rather pay a mechanic
Watching you and your lad working together is so stinkin WHOLESOME!!!!!! Love your videos Marty!
You're a man after my own heart, Marty! Everything fixed correctly, none of that 1/2 assed stuff. Neat and tidy makes me

Marty you have the most well mannered children. Eager to learn and very attentive. Well done.
That was so satisfying! Clean it out immediately, inspect everything, replace what needs replacing, properly fix electrical issues, including wire loom, grease and lubricate everything. I've seen too many "will it run" videos where all they care about is short-term functioning, not even cleaning things out.
Nothing better than giving old equipment a good cleaning and get it running again. Thanks for the post!
Marty keep being real, so rare on youtube.
Yes very refreshing!
A true pioner allround.. and skilled..!🤗
Says more about you than everybody else....
lol
He's a Mainlander, from the south island. What do you expect.
I like your son always agreeing "yep", "mm-hmm", etc like that is exactly what he was about to say
We think alike 😂
We had some hens like that on the farm in the sixties, Rhode Island red, crossed with a light Sussex if I’m not mistaken.very good all rounders .
I can't thank you enough for taking the time to tell these wonderful stories. Blessings from Lookout Mountain near Chattanooga Tennessee USA.
Thank you very much for publishing the longer format video. Eagerly awaiting the next edition. Thanks again.
Nice work as always Marty
you are an expert at resurrecting the abandoned. Thanks Marty.

Yep the floatation is intact under all the seats
Fyran were always great little boats - the basics done very well
What a sweet deal! Great video demonstrating how to reuse stuff that would otherwise be junked. And what a great learning video for small boat owners! Brilliant
You've done a proper job on the entire boat and trailer. Excellent!
Beautiful job Marty! I forgot you are starting your winter down there, we are in the midst of high heat and a high-in-the-sky sun here in the US. Thank You
My old man is an engineer and now I'm a marine engineer and love my job. I'd love to see his progress as the videos continue.

Marty is such a nice guy. Not only will he buy your boat for $400, but he will give your tree a prune on his way out.
But I didn't want my tree pruned; it was perfect just the way it was! 😭
7:10 that timber board was very happy to see you!
That's a bloody good buy

Thumbs up signal - priceless and memorable. That picture is a keeper.

the problem with the oilers is that you only find out they arent working when your engine locks up... always premix your fuel.
Yeah that's not a bad idea, Im always dubious of old self oilers
I'm not into boats but I just like watching you do stuff.
Good on you Marty. Looking forward to seeing the maiden voyage!
Water pumps always fail this old...its a given great video and always love the 2 stroke motors way more efficient!
Not true at all. Not in the day and age of modern 4 strokes.
2 strokes may be smaller and lighter, but burn more fuel for same power.
Just like a lot of boats Marty, many are just "yard ornaments", sit on a trailer and go nowhere. You'll use it, so another good score.
Love the t shirt !! Gives me hope for nz
Starting the day off with Marty. Hello from Kentucky.
Excellent outboard service video, great job on the boat
Wish I was this smart! I would LOVE to be able to know these things and fix stuff like this. These videos are AMAZING!

Marty,
Nice work on the old buggy, great job with the second mate, beautiful kids.

The longer videos are always the best.
What I would find as junk, you turn it into treasure! Well done, Marty. From the California, USA
Hey Marty, I use inox on my JetSki and it keeps the corrosion away pretty good. Also spray it on my rods and tackle after it’s all been rinsed with fresh water. Love the videos bro
Nice, yeah I wash and Inox my outboards a few times a year, keeps the corrosion at bay
Those older oil injection motors are bloody awesome...👍
Very nice restoration! You got lucky on the engine. Congratulations
First time I've seen anyone test a thermostat on YT prior to installing it. Always a CYA procedure we were taught to guarantee integrity... That motor runs sweet...
Awesome salvaging a run about and making it great again.
Brilliant video as always. Very informative just like RCR. A great reality check. Thanks again
Brilliant solution to getting the boat off and on the trailer by yourself.
the old whitebait net takes me back a few decades, Wairau river as a kid in Marlborough
Thanks for making this into 2 separate vids.
You need a proper 20m long zinc/galvanzing bath station to your site. Then you can dip those trailers like they do it at factory.
Score. The kids are going to love this thing. I doubt they get as much excitement with all your old tractor and crawler scores.

I enjoy all of you're video's especially the one's whenever you involve you're children .
Nice little boat. Double check for any lead sinkers or hooks inside it as they like to galvanic corrode the hull from the inside out.
Yeah I gave it a good clean out
Want to sell it?
The dog is here to help. Good dog.
Those merc/mariner 25-40 2 strokes are GOLD!
Yamaha made them....
Great work and knowledge of the marine environment, that combo should serve you well for a good few years

I love watching this guy breathe new life into things.
An amazing job , and the work into that trailer, WOW 😮
Man. nice I would have ordered some new sparkplugs when you got the water pump !
It’s great to see you back mate I hope you and your family are doing well and staying safe and healthy and your friends to mate thanks again for sharing your knowledge it’s amazing how you can do what you do love it.
Awesome Marty great barn find handy light weight boat mate cheers , shaneo, Nelson, 🍺👍
Thorough job! You are such a hard worker.
i love how unimpressed your son was when you got it running well lol, he was like yep I expect nothing less from you dad, lets get this in the water hahahah.
Great Father's Day video.
Really enjoy your videos. Always happy to see the notice.
I love hearing your chickens "talk" as they hang about.
Mariners are a good donk. I use to have a 75hp tiller on 17ft quintrex tinny with stainless prop and electric tiller use to go like the clappers .
Looks like you you've scored well with this one, good job with the cleaning up, really enjoy this video's of yours. thank you.

That is a good tip thanks
Would love to see a Q&A vid for 500k subs answering some common questions and showing all the machines you've got. Great video as always!

a joy watching you doing it right.
