One should note that the M276 non-turbo manufactured before De. 2012 had some issues, corrected after that so the 2013 is the really, solid, reliable engine here. Adding the turbos in the later versions will of course always make a turbo engine more unreliable than a non-turbo engine.
The m112 and m113 are smooth and bulletproof engines. These engines are simple in design since their single overhead can and have no VVT. The dual spark ignition made them incredibly fuel efficient. The V6 got comparable fuel economy to Toyota’s 4cyl and the v8 got fuel efficiency comparable to v6s. More manufacturers should’ve kept the dual ignition systems.
I have c class w204 10 years never let me down I have 500k km original chain no problem still pulling like new and w205 7 years old and for 5 years with me 160k km no problem good cars.
W204 as other german engines are crap. This one have timing chain and tensioners issues injectors water pump sensors problems same as bmw n47..Germans dont know how to make a quality engine.
I love the M276 so much that i cannot believe Mercedes made such an engine. I have the 3.0 bi turbo and the 3.5 liter natural aspirated version. Both engines are rock solid. And, if you change your oil frequently, in sports mode, they are very fuel efficient as well. I cannot get enough of the M276 engine. I am going to wait to see if the M256 (in-line 6) which replaced the M276 (v6) will stand the test of time. If you find one even with 120,000 miles, buy it. I guarantee you will drive it another 30,000 miles with no issues. You can take them to red line all day long with no issues. This engine is rev happy and confidence inspiring. I love the M276.
@@eliedisso1420 I do 3,000 miles oil changes. I use Mercedes 229.5 oil (0W-40) on the C43' It gets 4 oil changes a year. I use Royal Purple (1 quart of 0w-40 and 6 quarts of 5w-30) for the C300. M156 reliable engine? Good joke... Camshaft lobes wearing, headbolts issue, hydraulic valve lifters noise, in early models even timing chain problems. This engine is disastare if you compare it to the M113 engine.
Force Motors in India has been producing engines for Mercedes since 1980's and continues to do so to this day. Additionally, Force Motors also builds engines for BMW and Rolls-Royce.
You don't know much about cars. The m276 engine is an engine produced by Chrysler, which requires significant reduction in engine power and causes many breakdowns.
M276 is refined? Sure, if you only read the marketing materials and don't actually drive a car with one. What about the DI injector clatter and vibrations due to no balance shaft? It does have great performance and seems reliable. It's in my E350.
Hi, the angle between the M272 (90°) ans M276 (60°) permit no vibration... perhaps it antther pieces... i have this engine, it's seems reliable.. but I monitor the distribution chain.. (noise... )
60 degree V6 Is not inherently balanced, its impossible for a V6 to be. It's not bad, and no balance shaft is less moving parts which is always good. But it's definitely not refined compared to an inline 6 or V8.
@@geomtol i agree with your mind, less balance shaft is better, and 6 in line or V8 are more balanced, but if you want a V6 with little space, the 60° V6 is the least bad. 4 cylinder in line are good solution too.. with little space, the 60° V6 is the least bad. . the others are problematic the M276, is quite good.. M276 in my C450 AMG 4Matic. Very strong and takes a beating. Not afraid to put that pedal to the metal. One thing i don't like about Mercedes is TOO MUCH ELECTRONICS. Seems like there are sensors monitoring every damn thing on the car. You got sensors monitoring other sensors. The ECO mode is about a joke too, just to get another mile per gallon.
I thought i was the only one who has experienced this. That M276 in the C450 and C43 AMG is bullet proof. It can take a beating. I will argue that the C450 and C43 AMG are the most reliable cars Mercedes ever made . That eco mode or comfort mode causes carbon build up inside the car in order to gain a few miles per gallon. So, I highly recommend anyone driving any M276 to drive them either in sports mode with eco, at all times or in newer generations, in sports mode or sports+ mode. I love the M276 engine whether in naturally aspirated form or in turbo form.
Dude what about the 55amg engines and the om648 and plenty of other more relevant engines. The v6 you stated at first is a standard and not sooo reliable as you have proven it to be..😅
Bro the 6.2 litre Mercedes is one of the most unreliable problematic engines they've built so far, littered with issues and expensive ones as well, one being the head studs snap and cause catastrophic engine failure amongst many other issues, be lucky to see 100 thousand miles well documented 😅
Look in the short term when they actually run they could well be up there with the best Merc engines, however its a temporary thrill as they won't be running well for very long, and will cost you an arm and a leg to replace when the engine decides to pack it in due to flawed design 😅
Camshaft and lifters had premature wear and the trick is to keep the dipstick oil level at its highest and add a reliable proven oil additive. Also variable cam shaft positioning gear & pin had wear which cause a rattle at start up. The later models came out with these parts upgraded with better materials including the head bolts as mentioned from around 2012 I think.
The V-12 M120 Engine in my '96 CL600 CL sport, is far superior to all the ones that followed. All V-6 Engines are no comparison to an In-Line 6 of proper design. A V-8 that needs Twin Turbos to achieve high horsepower is pathetic. Performance and Longevity reflect the quality of an engine. See how many of these junks will last 200K miles without serious mechanical failures and relative costs.
