Awesome vids! It's nice that you can show people what offset and backspacing mean cause a lot of people don't know. And it's cool you guys are from Wisconsin. What tires are on those wheels?
Okay I heard from local 4x4 shop mechanic that the more negative offset produces more strain on steering and lug studs. Positive offset reduces it. What do you think about that?
That is true for the most part. With the more negative offset essentially you are putting more weight further outside the stock width that the vehicle was designed too support.
Hey Shawn, cool explanation. But, i dont think you said if the wheel you used as an example will stick out. Reason i ask is due to the people who i purchased the wheels told me they can offer me a fuel contra 20 x 9s with offset of 0 running on amp mud attacks 33 12.50 r 20s and it will stick out. But, as im understanding from you, the tire will remain dead center and inside the fender? I am looking for the wheel to stick out at least 2 inches. Thank again!
Pablo, we're saying the lower or more negative offset a wheel is, the further it sticks out! Check our gallery out for fitment help to get your wheels to stick out right where you want them! bit.ly/2bPV7YK
Good Video. I put aftermarket wheels on my car . The only difference is the offset on the aftermarket is 45mm vs 55mm stock. I've noticed more road noise since the change. Any chance the offset could be the main contributor? Thanks
so on my 2016 gmc 1500 ... i just did a 2 inch level... i have been checking out your gallery section.. it seems that my best thing to get in wheels is like a neg 12 or more to help prevent having to cut anything.. is that sounding right..??
Thanks for all the info, I have a 2013 f150 screw i was wanting to do a leveling kit and 33x12.50 on 18x9 or 18x10 with maybe a -24 my question is will this set up cause problems to the suspensio. I want a more aggressive stance with the wheels sticking past the fenders around 2 inches or so. Would this be the safest option to achieve this look without causing problems with the suspension.
I have 2008 Dodge RAM 1500 I lift it 7" and i get 20 inch rims 9 -12min they tell me a have to get a 0 offset tires what will be the right sizes by the way was a great video
I have a stock 2011 Tahoe LTZ with factory 20x8.5 with 31 offset. I'm looking st 22x9 GM split 7 rims with 24 offset. Do you think they will fit? Thanks for replying.
I just got a new 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sharia i'm planning on lifting it 3 1/2 to 4 inches I like to put 20 inch wheels. With 35's do you have any suggestions (flat black )or should I stay with 18s with 35

I want her on black rim w a white lip or Vice versa? But I would like your opinion too. Keep up the good work n the break down of the MT world for dummy's.....lol
Hi! I am new to this so please excuse any ignorance on my part. I currently have wheels that have +50.8mm offset. If I were to change to a wheel with -6mm offset that of course is a total difference of 56.8mm in offset. 56.8mm = 2 15/64". If I use the same tire, will my wheels/tires simply "stick out" an additional 2 15/64"/56.8mm? Thank you!
Hey man! Would there be a ton of difference between a -18 and -24 offset? I’m looking at the moto Metal 985. I was really wanting a -24 but this one only comes in -18 and -44. My wife says I spend too much time on your channel lol.
So I drive a 2001 lexus ls430. The front calipers are pretty big. I wanna get sum work emitz wheels, 20x9. I want an almost flush look, say about a 1/2 inch lip only. What offset would u reccomend that'll be?

Thank you so much for this video. Helped me understand a lot about offset. I recently bought 2018 VW GTI autobann with 18*7.5 rims on 225/40R/18 summer tires with 49mm offset. I have a set of old 2014 Jetta winters tires sitting around which are 17*7 on 225/45R/17 with offset of 54mm... not sure if these will fit without rubbing any suspension/brakes etc? Any help will be appreciated :)

hello, great video! I have a 2013 f150 4x4 and am putting a 6" lift on with 35" tires and 20x10 wheels. My question is: What negative offset would you recommend for a 20x10 wheel size that would give me a good 2.5 inch sticking out past the fenders after everything is mounted up? Thanks
Jonesy Jones it is what a group of people do like a tradition. Africans dance around a fire in hopes of rain. That is a custom. Also this dude is lying about what offset means. If you remove the wheel from the hub it is offset because it is not set to the hub anymore. Custom offsets means the tradition of un-setting things.
finally someone can break this down super easy .. Great video
Thank you so much for this simplified no BS info, good stuff.
not a truck guy, but this explained it nicely.
It works for any way for any wheels car and truck
You dont have to be a truck guy to understand it
Video was explained beautifully. Many thanks, it's literally EXACTLY what I needed!!!
best backspace explication video on UA-cam.
brief, direct, concise, and helpful! Thx from the PH!

Very informative, great video
Does negative offset make the bearings wear down faster? Does it effect the truck in any bad way.
would a 20.9-8-165.1 negative -18 work well with leveling kit 97 -99 ram 2500 4x4 ? And would a 305 tire rub on this truck ?

In a way yes. Like it's hard on your front end (ball joints, tie rods etc) but as pain is to beauty... Repairs are to Custom Stance
ok, so I wanna know if you think a ford ranger with a 2 inch lift, 31's, and 2.5 inch backspacing would look good?

They should fit, but they might rub and you may need to do minor trimming.

The width of the wheel play a factor too, but for the most part yes.

Just wondering what wheels those are...
Matthew Livingstone those are black rims. The round kind that roll your truck down the road when attached properly.
I thought off set was when the back rims are bigger like 20 in the front and 22 in the back
Nope! That'd be staggered !
