Derek just found your channel, new sub here. Thanks for sharing your experience with the new Splitfire 1165V. I can’t believe the speed!!!! Looking forward to more videos. 👍TCT
Hi Derek - it's Big Rodders in Ireland. A very impressive machine with great knife speed. However, I would prefer a longer knife to more effectively split the larger rounds even if the that resukted in reduced speed.
Great little machine. I’m shocked how fast it is. Like other commenters, I think a foot pedal would be safer- you can free up both hands to keep the block where it’s supposed to be. I like it! Jeff
Subscribed!! Very interested in this machine!! Thanks for sharing! How tall is the working table? I deal with a lot of really big tree service wood. I wonder how it would do with a really big round! (40" red oak). Probably would have to remove that guard on the front.
@@FirewoodInTheField Thanks! The table is 32" high. They also have the option for a side shelf (to the right) If I ever got a 40" round, I'd just bust it down with my skid loader mounted splitter (home made)
Nice little machine, didn’t know split fire made a vertical splitter. I agree with the other comments about a foot pedal being safer, seeing your thumb wrapped around the piece to hold it up had me nervous 😂

Thanks Tony! Love your videos. I don't have many videos, but more to come!
Very cool, just ordered one myself a few weeks ago. Can't wait!
@@upinsmokefirewood Awesome!
Great machine as soon as they incorporate a foot control I will order one!
@charger7022 It's coming. I'm going to fabricate/develop one. More videos to follow
@@dereksstuff8395 they told me directly it’s in the works from the factory. Seems like they should have had the option out of the gate.
@@charger7022I would’ve bought it the first night I saw the 1165v if it had the foot control. Still waiting. Soon they say.
@@sunnydazefirewood me to!
Check out Tony's Cool Tools channel review of this splitter. Machine is equipped with an knee control actuator. Seems better than a foot one.
Congratulations,, That’s a nice looking splitter. Vertical is the way to go .
I’m looking forward to seeing more videos on it
Thanks
Thanks much! I will make several more videos. I already have a couple of modifications I'd like to make to it.

@rodneysweetnam8653 Hey! Rodder! The size and price point are what makes her attractive. I'll get and post some pics of the dimensions.
I don’t see any oil on dip stick ??
Might better double check it again 😢 this is about the size I need 😊
@@philliphall5198 Thanks! It's def full. Great little engine
Great machine with a good price- Split-Fire will sell a lot of these!
@@MicahHughes-zv5zx Very decent machine for the money

Thanks Jeff. I will be fabricating a foot control for this machine. It shouldn't be much of a job.

@dereksstuff8395 thanks! Any chance you could tell me how deep the table is?
I don't have a skid steer, but if I did I'd do the same!
@@FirewoodInTheField It is 18" deep. I just published another video explaining
New Sub! Looking into getting the electric version this fall. How do you like the hand operated control? Would it be better with a foot pedal?
@@AroundTheYard-MN Thanks! I thought I'd hate the hand control, but it's alright. I am going to fabricate a foot control for this machine.
Looks like it's working good! Does it look like a foot pedal could be fabricated for it? I know Splitfire says it's a safety issue but...
It definitely could. I will fabricate one and make a video of it in action. Thanks!
Great machine! They should get moving on the foot pedal. Looks more dangerous with the hand lever and only one hand on the wood.
Pretty sure they are going with a "knee" operates lever instead of a foot pedal. Inside info from someone getting one for review and testing purposes.
@thefirewooddoctor I think that's true. A foot pedal is what I will be making. Should be pretty simple. All mechanical
Nice little machine, didn’t know split fire made a vertical splitter. I agree with the other comments about a foot pedal being safer, seeing your thumb wrapped around the piece to hold it up had me nervous 😂
Dangerous design. Gas hard to fill, no foot lever...... really needs to be re-designed. But I must admit.....it is really fast and compact.
@Glen-j2f Thanks Glen! Check out my other videos, I have since made some great modifications to this machine. Not redesigned.... just made it my own.

Wow it's a speedster, where is this machine manufactured it would be easy enough to put in a foot pedal.
It's made in Ontario, Canada. I will develop a foot pedal control..... more videos to come.
Rule #1 of splitting: Split where you stack. You now have to handle your wood twice. Why you got that machine with wheels! Use them
@@w8stral thanks
Doesn't look like it has enough power to lift or process anything over 12- 15 in.
@@jameschandler2776Hickory is quite heavy. I'll put a bigger piece of hickory on there tonight and make a quick video of it lifting. Thanks!
@@dereksstuff8395be careful with lifting larger rounds. That splitter only weighs 450 lbs.
Don't put you hand on top of the round that is being split you could lose your hand or some fingers for sure.
@@brucebaker4462 thanks!
Get some ear protection , muffs are comfortable with Music ... FYI..
@@murrayandru7527 Thanks!. I use foam ear plugs every time I run. You probably can't see them, but they're in.
