    Mr Joe.
    That splitfire is one amazing machine. I love this thing.
    That log lift to me is worth is weight in gold.
    That has to be one of the best additions to log splitters in years.
    Congratulations on that machine.
    I am glad to see it save on your body. Thats one of the hardest things about firewood. Especially Hand splitting like you have done for along time.
    Awhile back you posted a video about hand splitting sycamore and tried several different ways of splitting it.
    That wood almost whipped you. I think you highly have the upper hand against any future Sycamore.
    I think its redemption time. BRING IT ON.
    I go ahead and cut one down.
    Give me 5 min.
    Thank you for taking the time to show us all the features on this machine.

      That Sycamore whipped me for sure Mike! After that pile of wood came through my woodyard, I told me wife, I have got to get a splitter. She was astonished watching me through the windows of the home. I used about 4 tanks of fuel through my ECHO 620 after spending a couple hours splitting 2 rounds! hahahaah. I did hear however that if you let the wood sit a year, it gets much better!
      Here is the link for anyone curious! I love the video but it changed me as a man! ua-cam.com/video/0T0RBKnF-Yc/v-deo.html

    Very impressive unit ! I like a lot of things about it especially the four-way option is really cool and the fact that a lot of the hydraulic lines are hard piped but what really set the tone is that long lift is next level 😂. Really happy for you buddy. Congrats on the deal. Can’t wait to see how many hours you put on this thing you’re gunna put it to the test for sure 💪🏼

      Well, after seeing the build quality on this, I wouldn't hesitate on anything else. I think I saw in a video that they powder coat the Chippers. Those look incredible as well. How excellent! The tonnage seems to be quite much less of an issue when the machine is built with quality components. So far, my machine had easily handled everything I have thrown at it. I haven't even been running it full throttle yet! The unit u have looks also to be excellent as I have seen videos about them. Congratulations on your splitter as well! How long have you had it?

    Something that would be very handy around the property is a used garden or lawn tractor- they are cheap. Get a receiver mounted to it and you will be surprised how handy it is. Tow your trailer around, splitter and those little carts. Very handy if you don’t have a loader.

    Hey Oakie, nice choice in wood splitter - very good quality. I rented one to test drive it but it didn't have the log lift option so I didn't find it any more efficient than a single acting splitter for a 1 man operation. But I can see that having wood stacked on the log lift table would slightly increase its efficiency. Good on you for stepping up to a hydraulic splitter - they are def game changers 👍👍

    • @oakiewoodsman
      @oakiewoodsman  5 місяців тому

      Thanks for watching @902hand7! I have seen them operated with the lack of the log table and wings and with that you simply end up with pieces falling down all over the place. I think it is safer to operate with more working room and far more efficient. Thank you for the feedback friend

    I don't own one, but I really like the concept of a two-way splitter. You've done your research, because the Split-Fire is surely one of the best. I have looked at their options, & I would have upgraded to the Honda engine, too. My 20 year old log splitter has a smaller Honda Engine, & I have had zero issues with it. I seldom run mine more than 3/4 throttle (less noise). I also don't own large equipment, but I wouldn't cut & burn firewood without owning my log splitter. You're gonna love it! Even those Sycamore trees are in trouble now!

      DH, I believe you were the first person to mention this brand and brought awareness to me. For that, I am extremely grateful! Yes, the Honda engine on this caliber of machine is an absolute must and matches well with the rest of the machine quality and capability. I just wanna run it some more sir! Up in your neck of the woods, have you seen on in person before? Used one?

    • @driftlesshunter9200

      @@oakiewoodsman I've never seen a Split-Fire in person, but I saw someone using a two-way log splitter once on UA-cam. My immediate reaction was - "that's smart"! Knowing me, I immediately started researching two-way log splitters. I soon discovered Split-Fire, & I was instantly impressed with what I saw. The lift, two-way splitting, & build quality seem 2nd to none. I have no doubt that I mentioned one to you, & now that you bring it up I remember doing so! How funny! If you are going to cut, sell, & burn firewood, you will never regret owning a quality log splitter. A machine like that one will last you a lifetime.

    What an incredible piece of equipment! Lots of R&D from the looks of it. While I can't really speak on the splitter itself, I'm a believer in a couple early oil changes in non filtered, splash lubed engines. Usually ill do a 15-30 minute change and a 1 hour change on a brand new engine. Some call it a waste of time and oil, I call it cheap insurance🤓
    Seems capable of very high production for it's size👍🏻

      That is a very good tip AP! With an engine like this, wouldn't hurt getting that fresh a couple of times! I know the first time I changed the oils on my Briggs Sawmill engine, you could see very fine metalic shimmer in the oil from the break in process. After that, it was clean as clean could be! Thank you for watching and I appreciate you Sharing. I am excited to run this splitter more

    This is awesome. I am so happy for you. That machine will serve you and your family well for many years. Can’t beat a Honda engine. I recently purchased a splitter from a buddy at work. It was a box store splitter but it has a Honda engine not the cheap no name engines they are putting on them now. I don’t mind splitting with a maul and I enjoy it, however, having a splitter sure makes splitting those knotty pieces so much easier! 😂

      Thank you for watching! I am taking a break right this moment from using it! As I am splitting, I am not held back by waiting on the machine. By myself, I am the weak link. All my wood stays right in front of me and if I position quickly and throw wood right away the slide can essentially never stop moving. I just simply am not that fast. I believe this machine could easily keep 3 people working hard and fast and can produce a tone of wood. Thank you again for watching and if you are interested interested, keep watching cause much more is to come. I am about to hit 4 hrs on it right now. The first fuel tanks split a time of wood and lasted nearly 3 hrs and 15 minutes. I cannot believe how much can be split in that time! If I wasn’t filming, it would be even more!

      Lets hope they do not bring those regulations over here. I find that life has hazards and wearing the proverbial "tether" at all times is not exactly the way I want to live. What is interesting is this. Recently in Tulsa OK, they built a beautiful multi million dollar park. All the designers and play equipment was imported from Germany if I recall correctly. In some of the earliest articles it talked about how how they were after a "tactile" experience where kids were free to be kids and there was some risk essentially. Well, that was some of the most dangerous play equipment I have ever see and it came from Europe. Interesting perspectives. Thank you for watching

    I don't own one, but you may be interested in an adjustable trailer dolly. Home Depot, Tractor Supply, Harbor Freight, and places like Amazon sell them. It's a small investment that may save your back. I tug my log splitter short distances around the yard, but there are times when I wish I had a trailer dolly myself. Nice splitter! I was wondering about the "high flow kit", now that you have it was it worth the extra money to you? I really want the 8 inch lift to help with my back and I am considering the "high flow kit". Thanks for your reply and videos.

    • @oakiewoodsman
      @oakiewoodsman  5 місяців тому +1

      That is very difficult to answer because I have not run one without it. When I consulted with Split Fire, I believe my understanding is that the high flow simply moves the knife faster but not with more force. I certainly would love for someone to chime in on this. IMO if you are splitting by yourself, speed is not an issue of the knife. It produces so many splits the table is tough for a one man operation to keep clear and keep moving the knife. The design is so efficient, the speed of the knife is less of a factor on this type of machine from my perception. I just hit 5.5 hours on it today and it is incredible how much it has split! I am building piles VERY quickly and love running this machine. I also really like the 4 way. You have to ask yourself, what do you typically do and in what wood. If you reach out to them and mention the machine I have, they know exactly the specs of what I ordered. I am 5’8” and love the working height! If you have more questions, just let me know! More content coming for sure!

      @@oakiewoodsman Thanks for your reply. I'm 6'2" so I am considering the 8" lift. At this point I am not sure about the "high flow kit" as I work alone and as you mention it splits pretty fast. I believe you are correct about the "force". My understanding was that the 3455 was rated at 20 ton and the 3465 with the Honda engine was rated around 22 tone but the high speed kit didn't affect the tonnage ratings so I believe you are correct as it increased the knife speed. I enjoy your videos, keep'em coming :)
