i appreciate this video! i've had my doubts about this iem but for some reason have felt really drawn to trying it out. But now i think i will try it out, and i appreciate your honesty!
returned my Mirai's, I miss them sometimes, but ultimately, there's better out there that i ended up going with. couldn't get them to fit comfortably for more than an hour of use which really dampened my experience with them. great little iem though. sounds amazing
Yeah I much prefer the semi-custom shape the SA6 line have vs the Mirai. And now it looks like the new Gizaudio x Dunu collab is going to have the same shell shape.
A comfortable fit is very important, it doesn't matter how good the IEM is if you can't enjoy wearing it, you won't use it, so a wise move on your side.
@@JUICEe36the fatfreq maestro/scarlet minis are awesome, fit really well. I also honestly usually go for smaller profile IEM's, such as the sennheiser ie200 and like kiwi ears cadenza. Haven't tried Singolo yet but I assume I'll probably like the fit of that as well.
This price point, man. For me, a price like this ofc demands top notch sound, but it also demands top notch aesthetics and comfort. This amount of money is honestly absurd for most people, and tho I'm cool with investing in an amazing product for the long term, it just seems like the Mirai is a 4-4.5 star product. And I'd have a hard time settling for anything less than 5 stars all around for that much money. Thx for the review!
damn bro i just bought the moondrop blessing 3 and now u recommending another iem... how does it compare vs the moondrop blessing 3 is it worth the upgrade
Nice review. I’d definitely consider the Tw4 if I didn’t already have AirPods Pro 2 (brilliant all rounders which I use with android and now with iOS as well). The battery in the AirPods Pro 2 is replaceable which is handy. (I have Shure mmcx earbuds which means I can use them on a 3.5mm cable, lightning cable, usb c cable and Bluetooth wireless ear hooks. The ear buds are nearly 10 years old and have been a brilliant listening experience over that time). I also have some Status Between ANC triple driver Bluetooth earbuds- 12hrs battery life, high ipx (including case) and a unique design rather than just another stem IEM or anonymous looking earbud.
Thanks for the review. I have a question that only a tech loving professional can answer, and you seem to fit the bill. I have soundcore Q30 and Q35 headphones and would like to upgrade to a higher quality closed back, due to environmental noise, but I'm planning a new pc build and can;t afford the headphone upgrade right now. My question is would a portable headphone amp improve the sound quality of the Soundcores. Thanks for your time. ernie
Bought the linsoul ZS 10 PRO because someone said the multitude of driver made them sound fantastic. Think my Moondroop Aria 2 sound so much better. I didn't know how people spend over $100 on IEMs, on headphones i completely understand....but IEMs nah. Will say years ago i had a Coolermaster sirua 5.1 that had physical 5.1 surround sound per ear and it was great for FPS games.
the headphones community is one of the biggest coping group I have ever seen. There is no way I pay more than 300 Dollars for headphones/IEM's or a DAC/AMP. I use the HD600 and sometimes the Truthear Hexa's with a cheap AMP/DAC combo and I will say it won't get any better than this.
I think you have a point here, but maybe a little higher you can go in regard of IEMs. In the meantime taking something around 200-300 bucks will be significantly better than the Hexas (which are not bad at any means).
Lulz … just came from a 90 min savage geese video on tbe nsx. This is gonna be such a long video I’ll time stamp it. Lulz I look down and it’s 17 min long.

This is my review of the Dunu Mirai. I per-ordered this the day it came up, and was looking forward to getting it in. $1100.00 so I thought it would be world class build and sound, When I first opened it I was not happy. The cable looks and feels like a cheap plastic toy, and the IEMs are very light and feel like they spent $5 for the shells. I am running this on a Schiit Midgard, Lokius, and Modius, not off a phone. As for the sound, it not bad, clean clear but very little in the bass. If you want to feel the hit in the lows, forget it. You can hear the drums but not feel a thing, the mids are nice and clean, so female vocals are nice. The highs are good but not great, and in no way worth the 1+k . What I truly think is that somebody is making a lot of money on a very mid level set. If they spent more then $75 building this I would be shocked. Look for something else to drop a thousand bucks on, this set at that price is a joke!
"MIRAI AT IT'S CURRENT SALE PRICE IS FINAL SALE AND NOT ELIGIBLE FOR RETURNS", per the website. Very skeptical of this "review." Don't fall for this, people.
Not true, at least as of 4/19/24. Regular stock and return policy. I have one and love it. Very comfortable. I agree with the review. I prefer it to my U12t and Nio. I find that I prefer 2 or 3 good IEM. They are all different, and the good ones are like changing good lenses on an SLR. A different high res view. Cheaper IEM just are not there. But, to each his own!
I also don't mind the long video, but I'll tell you what I do for these: I check the link in the description for the price of the item you're reviewing. The more expensive it is, the less I watch. In this case, at over $1000, I watched 8 seconds. Sorry. My headphone gear in its entirety is worth $1000, and my home theater gear is also worth $1000, but I'm not spending that on one tiny set of plastic bits that I can accidentally step on or roll over in my chair. This is silly.
There are some iem's that are worth that price, if listening to music is extremely important to us. That being said; high price doesn't necessarily make a good IEM, and there are a lot of them that push unusual sound signatures because, well, a lot of the people they are catering to are likely older people who have lost some aspect of their hearing and want to experience music as a much younger person. That's my theory anyway. In any case; blind buying any expensive iem isn't recommeded, as getting a good fit with an IEM, IMO is far more important then many technical aspects. I struggled with getting a proper seal with the MMK2 in my right ear for example.
@@Smitty_WerbenjagermanjensonStill much less comfortable than over ear headphones. I tried many but I like the comfort of full sized headphones, I get that IEM's are the perfect closed back but comfort is not there
Bring on the longer videos, sometimes it's worth saying something in many words. For me, at my level I feel like when you reach the $1000 level, you got to move to headphones and when you climb up to $3000, then you move to speakers. There's just a point where I think what I'm buying has to be substantial as I pay more and more, this is not a negative against anyone buying what they like, it's just my pov. Thanks for the review Josh.
Can't you find it in your heart to appreciate things you maybe can't afford? You never know, you might pick up a, secund hand pair for two hundred bucks in a few years.
I completely agree, it was a very pleasing listen with its own unique flavor but it doesn't really have a wow factor that compels you to pay $1k+ for it imo. It's something I'd very well consider getting if budget wasn't an issue as a personal endgame (I personally prefer having something more balanced focused with great detail) but for $1k+ I'm sticking with my arya stealths
Great review! The B-roll is awesome and appreciate you being upfront about your sponsorship. Unfortunately I agree that they're ugly so prob gonna skip these for now.
Love the channel Josh … but for sure you have to realize half your audience is going to walk away at 1K iems. I get that your excited, but for most, it’s just too rich for their blood. I think most people tap out at around a Blessing 2 price point.

so many IEM brands on the market now it makes my head spin. lol… currently my favorite is the IE900 and Westone MACH 60.

Hmm with all due to respect, this is one of the first positive reviews I’ve seen of the Mirai. I guess this is just a very polarizing IEM.
I believe zeos and mark at super reviews also gave it positive reviews?
