❣ ***THERE ARE LITERALLY NO WORDS IN MY ENGLISH VOCABULARY, THAT CAN DESCRIBE THIS GROUP!!!*** ❣ I have also come to the conclusion, that Mitch is an Alien, from the planet of *WTF* 😊
Kirsten really shines in " Can You Feel the Love Tonight " You won't be dissapointed
Yeah... Kirstin shines.... and Mitch goes into orbit👽
She also shines in say something
100%
And how about her performance in Seasons of Love???
The best Kirstin shine is in Amazing grace. The way the light hits her and the way her voice hits your soul is just divine.
This song amazes me, because it sounds like there's actual instruments, not just voices. Like, some songs are a Cappella, and you know, but this sounds like a gd orchestra backing them.
You-10 seconds in: “I’m not ready for this.”
Me-Out loud to no one: No. No you are most definitely not.
Try Amazing Grace next…Kirstie will crack your soul with her solo. Always makes me emotional.
Scott's lower register... that SMOOTH baritone... is SERIOUSLY under utilized by this group.
Holy Cow….I’m not familiar with this group, but the voice that opens this song…..full alto range…..reminds me of Adam Lambert…also in his phrasing…..beautiful…..I don’t know the official name for a male with that range, but Steve Perry of Journey also was in that category. Absolutely gorgeous. I’ll be listening to more from this group.
Mitch Grassi is a counter tenor and is the highest of male ranges. They all have a very wide range vocally however.
The amazing world of Pentatonix. Welcome to the ride.
I will never minimize the vocals of this group, I am wholeheartedly a Pentaholic. But, the other art forms of their videos gets lost....set design, costumes, makeup, cinematography, and audiomixing. Everyone that does anything with this group should be applauded.
This song had it all. Love the reaction. Mitch slapping/Scott slapping/Mitch belting/Kirstie belting/Pentatonix wall of sound when they all got belting! Amazing Grace, Seasons of Love and The Wizard of Ahhhs are not to be missed either.
I always love watching you when you get "Mitch-slapped" by the incomparable counter-tenor of Mitch Grassi. And he does it in EVERY song.
A great song by the best of the best. Loved it.
I love watching reaction reviews of Pentatonix. It's the men who react that are so takin a back of their talent. Brings you to tears. And you proudly give credit where credit is due
“Amazing Grace “ is an eargasm from them . Great reaction, and enjoy the journey through PTX.🎶🎶💕💕🦋
"She had a thing". Do you mean when she goes into full belt mode, something she does in pretty much anything that this group does? Is that "the thing" to which you refer? She is one of the best belters I have ever heard, and my wife and I go to the theater frequently and adore musical theater.
This is a beautiful version! They all killed it and Mitch sounded like an Angel!
PopSpring 2016 is my recommendation for 3 originals and the evolution of Michael Jackson. Everyone gets to shine!
First few times I heard this I had chills…I have no problem saying that I think it’s better than the previous recordings of it. It’s unbelievably beautiful ☺️
I told you man! Great reaction! Might I suggest Amazing Grace, and also, Can you feel the love tonight, from The Lion King. In Can you feel, let’s just say Mitch has a moment that will blow your hair back!
During the pandemic. Mitch climbed up on his roof and recorded his version of Billie Elishes. Your Power. It’s insanely beautiful and heartfelt
He said if Billie was brave enough to write it. he wanted to honor her. Well he did. It’s chilling and beautiful. It’s on you tube
Don't worry. Everyone is blown away by them. Just go to their page and check them out.
Please consider reacting to their covers of "Say Something", "Havana", and "Mary Did You Know" Enjoying your channel!
Even after Christmas, you must check out Carol of the Bells from Christmas Under the Stars to witness Mitch outing himself as an alien from a planet with no oxygen. Also O Come All Ye Faithful to see what they do with an old grammer school classic. That way you will be ready for next December!
This really deserves a Grammy. No question.
Please do AMAZING GRACE by Pentatonix you will be blown away
Grammy Worthy? I think so! Thanks for this reaction. You had the same reaction many have had. Leaves you speechless. Mitch is angelic! They all reached a new high with this one.💕💕
I consider this one of the most beautiful recordings I have heard. I cried tears of just joy and serenity that comes from hearing this. Excellent reaction!
"What the heck did I just watch?" Perfection, darlin, pure perfection is what you watched. Amazing reaction, thank you! 💚
Celine loved this cover. I'd suggest "Sing" or "Happy Now" if you want some of their original work.
Just an idea, you could do a couple weeks worth of Christmas songs around Easter...Pentaholics LOVE their Xmas stuff so u won't get any complaints 😉
For starters:
Carol of the Bells
Mary Did U Know
O Come All Ye Faithful
God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
4 epic songs with completely different vibes. One important thing to know about PTX and Xmas...never expect the song to sound like you've always heard it. It may start out that way, but won't last for long. They are known for reinventing Xmas music which makes it so much fun for us to see y'all's expression when they switch it up lol 😆
A review or a reaction any time works
All EXCELLENT suggestions!!!
@@heidi_d lol...what isn't?
@@derrickcox7761 TRUE!
Add Silent Night to that!
This makes me tear up
Every time from the sheer beauty
Of this. They are so amazing
Thank you
PTX pulled out their classical training for this one! And the way the duet switches from Scott & Mitch to Mitch & Kirstin & back again was beautiful. Mitch’s chromatic walk up at the end: gorgeous! Pentaholics listen to their Christmas music all year round.
That wasn’t a Mitch slap. That was a Mitch beat down. Scott was crazy good and Kirstin’s vocals in the bridge were fantastic. The foundation laid by Matt and Kevin was impeccable as usual.
You should go ahead and check out their original Christmas song, Thank You, as the underlying message applies any time of year.
I LOVE "Thank You"! I whole heartedly second this!
God, no kidding! Mitch doesn't just slap you in this one, he slaps you, grabs you by the hair, throws you on the ground and stomps the crap out of you, just with his voice! Chills. Every time.
All of us Pentaholics hope this will be their next Grammy winner
Being from the Northeast, my first thought the first time I saw it was "They would all freeze to death" LOL Then Mitch started singing and then Scott threw in Italian and I forgot how cold they were. I love the two of them singing together, but dang Kirstie. Kevin and Matt keeping it all together. Matts baseline so subtle through most until the end. I love this. Great reaction You just got PTX slapped LOL 😎
"The Prayer" was filmed indoors on a sound stage. There is a "making of" video available: ua-cam.com/video/jvVW0DtlAsg/v-deo.html
@@loucatozzi7656 yes I've seen it, but just the imagery of them dressed that way in the snow and of course at first I thought it real. They have quite the design team for their sets don't they? thx .
Matt's bass line can be felt more than heard and I love it.
Pentatonix Christmas songs are welcome any time of the year. I love your reactions.
This is my favorite arrangement and vocals they have ever done. So good.
I feel like this is a masterwork in the old fashioned sense, where a journeyman would create something only a master could create to prove they were now a master themselves. I suppose in this case they were already masters, but this thing is crafted from beginning to end with as near to perfection as is humanly possible. Is there something beyond master? Superheroes, maybe? Celestial beings? Aliens? Whatever, it was a great pleasure seeing you respond to viewing it for the first time.
Aliens. I'm going with Aliens.
Unicorns. I think they're unicorns.
So I'm going with "Flock of Dragons" since Angelina Jordan is already the Alien Unicorn.
PTX’s cover of The Prayer is a masterwork. Their growth since Sing Off is incredible.
Omg! You're face when Scott started singing his Italian baritone was priceless! And even if you don't react to it,I really suggest watching their short documentary showing them recording Evergreen, the album this song is on! It's so fantastic to see how they create these masterpieces together!
Great performance. They used a little more backing tracks than they usually do (most of their official videos have a certain level of backing), but it works for this song and gives it more power. Plus any backing they use is always their voices.
Pure Pentatonix Perfection. A Capella at its very best - and now re-defined by Pentatonix. Mitch sang with such clarity and conviction, those golden tones with runs and vibratos, ethereal and pure. Scott on that operatic Italian. Kirstie sharp and piercing. Matt so deep and warm underneath. Kevin the master beat boxer driving the rhythm with drums and clashing cymbals. The harmonies, the solos, the duets, the rising crescendo and the PTX wall of sound. All topped off with excellent imagery and videography. This deserves a Grammy or two for Duo/Group; Arrangement; Instrumental/A Capella; and Spiritual/Religious.
The Prayer IS on their 6th Christmas album, Evergreen. Their best work to date IMHO. Certainly Grammy worthy, but they missed the deadline for the last Grammys. Also, I think Pentaholics would agree that PTX Christmas is doable any time of year! 😅 😅
@Grace Ito...I agree with you 💯%. The Prayer shows us Pentatonix at their best vocally... they have grown and matured before our eyes and with so much class and grace with such dignity. Almost in tears here now because when I (along with THOUSANDS of others) first saw them...it was about 11 years ago and I basically fell in love with the group and claimed them as my own children (in my heart).
Agree Grace!!!
I think the song that Kirstin most recently impressed me the most with was Seasons of Love
*Kirstin. :)
The version they performed live on PBS is a must.
@@j.6133 I thought so but then I doubted myself when i saw it spelled with an 'e' in a different comment. I should have trusted myself.
@@df5199 yeah that is precisely the performance I was thinking of.
@@thontor ❤
This song is my go to when I’m really going through it.
Their arrangements are the best-and many, like this one, include the Wall of Sound!
I love Carol of the bells. It really shows Mitches vocal control!
Don't worry at ALL about reacting to their Christmas music in March or April or July or whenever. It does NOT matter.
I'm an Uber Driver and a full-bore Pentaholic and I have something like 80 of their songs on my USB in my car. Last Summer, there was one month when I was encouraged to play PTX Christmas songs nearly every single night. Every other month it was just the typical every other day.
You can react to PTX Christmas music ANY freaking time. Do it now. Little Drummer Boy.
Several people have told you to watch The evergreen studio sessions short film! The five of them were listening to The Prayer in the studio together. Kirsten had not heard the mix of it all, and during the part that you played again where she sings "above" with her hand out Mitch said "SING" because it was so good and during the part when Mitch sang "child" the part you played again Matt said " THATS THE SONG RIGHT THERE! THATS THE SONG!!" It was awesome.
You have to listen to them sing Hallelujah
You might want to react to "Seasons of Love". Kristin is the lead vocalist here and she ends it with some Maria Carey whistle notes.
Kirstin
That chord at 5:08….holy….fuck….me….that was the most beautiful combination of voices I’ve heard
Bohemian Raphady , daft punk, Mary did you know, Hallelujah
If they decide to it….they’ll only do it 10000000%!!
Glad you did this one, great reaction .......LOVE LOVE this version
The Perfection that is Pentatonix! Masters of their craft!
This is what happens when you get hammered with perfect pitch power out of the whole group. Phenomenal.
Amazing Grace, My Heart With You, Carol Of The Bells, please 🙏
Scott!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
This was an absolutely fantastic reaction. Here's a little information that not many people realize, the first half of the song when Scott and Mitch were doing their duet and Scott was in Italian, that was a beautiful rendition of the Celine Dion and Andrea bocelli version. However the last half was a phenomenal rendition of Yolanda Adams and Donnie McClurkin gospel cover of the prayer. PTX are amazing mashup artists and they put these two songs together and I think ultimately changed the world 😁. They are geniuses they are beyond talented and thank you for your visceral reaction, amazing as always. 🙏🏾❤️
I love how every video you say, "I'm not ready for this" as soon as you start it 😂
Great reaction!
Recommend their original songs 'Sing!', 'Coffee In Bed', 'Water' (Kirstie-led), 'You're Out' (the official audio is on their channel), 'Be My Eyes' (GORGEOUS music video and one of the best songs of 2020), Happy Now (SO GOOD!!).
In terms of showcasing how beautiful they sound singing full voice, this is the best song I've heard so far to do that.
You could watchTHE SING OFF and their venture to the top. It is awesome how much they have grown.
🎶😁🎼
If you wanna check out more of what Kristen can do she really kills it in “Say Something” Kevin also cello boxes, he’s incredible. It’s a cover for Christina Aguilera and A great big world.
I like how you stopped to rewind when you got yourself into a Hoying after being repeatedly Mitch Slapped. Thanks for posting. I like their dark Christmas videos: Dance of the sugar Plumb fairies, Making Christmas, and My favorite things. Just to name a few. OMG this one: Pentatonix - Mary Did You Know? (Live from The Evergreen Experience) if you like high pitched singers you'll be KO'd.
This a master piece with Micth at his finest and the prove of Scott could do, Kirstin belting in the bridge, and in the first part given background to Mitch and Scott, and the impeccable percussion section of Kevin and Matt.
Ptx Perfection!
“Mary, did you know?” Next please
Great reactions ❤️❤️
Please check out a song on this same album.. OVER THE RIVER ft Lindsey Stirling.. really outstanding..(you get to hear Kevin playing cello as well!) I saw them do this live and Lindsey wasn't there but it was just as incredible..
Grammy...simple...gotta push through to next year.annnnnd Mitch Slapped over and over..That is one of the best things I have ever heard. 5 voices...that is 5 voices taking place of 2 of the greatest singers ...and..and an entire orchestra!! On tour they were stunning!!! Loved it Man!!!
Oh my, Pentaholics just LOVE watching a reactor new to PTX songs not be able to control their responses/noises/facial expressions, etc! It is so much fun for us! You totally met our expectations with your reaction to them! Thank you for your appreciation of them, again! :)
I've watched a bunch of reactions to this song and that moment where Scott starts singing Italian always melts brains.
Mitch's fluttery runs breaks people too.
Beautiful ☀️
Beautifully done as always. Mitch just tickles the senses and Scott!!! Love his lower register! Kirstin’s voice just keeps getting better and better. ❤️❤️❤️
Well this Nana is in tears 🥲😭 How gorgeous this is ✨✨
Thank you for having a clean station, it's nice to get to watch a whole video.
Its like the best punch in the gut, every single time they sing.
You have to hear them sing Amazing Grace it's beautiful.
it's a right time to have this song sang buy any singer!! it's certainly needed!!🙏
This song makes me choke up. Every. Single. Time.
They deserve a Grammy for this
My Heart with You...same Evergreen album...pure voice, pure harmony. Check it out.
Love Again. From their Daft Punk era, but an original of theirs. And Mad World is an amazing cover.
I love their original-"run to you".
They truly know how to draw out our emotions. I love them so much
I still get CHILLS when I hear this version. My chills get chills.
When Scott comes in at 2:45 your expression is one of astonishment. Me too. By now you realize that Pentatonix doesn't do covers. They do upgrades.
In my opinion, they are the best at what they do.
Mandatory listens: Amazing Grace, Love Again (an original), Can You Feel the Love Tonight?, Mad World, Somebody That I Used to Know (their first youtube hit I think)…and a couple hundred others 😊
I believe you would appreciate their rendition of Amazing Grace. They each get a chance to shine.
Aren't they the best!
So glad you liked it. I've been hearing some Grammy buzz about it. You might want to start from their very first public performance when they competed on the competition show "The Sing Off" in 2011 when they won. They sang over 10 songs on this show.
The most amazing thing about this group is how absolutely effortlessly their collective voices hit perfection. They blow me away every single time! Great reaction!
They sing a song called "Be My Eyes" that is one of their originals written by Kirstie. She sings the lead most of the way through the song.
I never noticed this before as I always listen to them singing ‘The Prayer’ through my devices’ speakers. However, this time I’m using my headphones (Koss Porta Pro Wireless).
During Mitch’s first solo, the harmony sounds like (Angelic) bell or chime tones. Simply beautiful.
- BG
Please react to "Can You Feel The Love Tonight" and "My Favourite Things". Kirstin does an amazing job leading those songs!
Please react to their origional song "love again" its really good. It really showcases the bass and drums
"The Prayer" is not a typical Christmas song. The original version, written for the animated film Quest for Camelot (1998), was sung entirely by Celine Dion and did not have the bridge section. An Italian language version sung by Andrea Bocelli was included on the original soundtrack album, even though he wasn't a part of the voice cast. In this version, Bocelli sang both the Italian lyrics as well as the English lyrics that would later be sung by Celine in their duet rendition. The dramatic bridge was also added to this version, the music re-purposed from "Looking Through Your Eyes", another song on the soundtrack, with different lyrics. The now iconic Dion/Bocelli duet wasn't recorded till after the film came out but was included on both of their solo albums. Celine's album, These Are Special Times, was her first English language Christmas album and thus established "The Prayer" as a Christmas song. It was also released as a single in 1999. In re-issues of the soundtrack album, it replaced the original solo Bocelli track.
Pentatonix are themselves noted for taking non-Christmas songs and covering them on their Christmas albums. They've done it with Hallelujah, Coldest Winter, Sweater Weather, When You Believe, Amazing Grace, My Favorite Things, When You Wish Upon A Star, Once Upon A December, Seasons Of Love, God Only Knows, I Just Called To Say I Love You, and My Heart With You.
God in Heaven!! So beautiful!
They are GREAT!! Mitch Mitch Mitch 😃
Yeah, this is magnificent!💖💖💖💖💖
