Not to burst your bubble, but even though Pentatonix released "The Prayer" on a Christmas album it's no more a Christmas song than "Hallelujah" is (yet another non-Christmas song that Pentatonix released on a Christmas album). You can play this song year round and no one will ask you why you're listening to a Christmas song in summer time. If they do, ask them what makes it a Christmas song. The only answers they'll be able to give are that it was on a Christmas album and they're in a snowy forest in the video. (The video was shot in the summer and that "snowy forest" is a set with fake snow. It was meant to make a non-Christmas song look like Christmas.)
@@RetroQuinReactsDo you remember how they were dressed in "Hallelujah"? Warm winter clothes; it looks like a freezing day in the desert? The clothes were because the video was for a song on a Christmas album. The location was the Mojave desert, just outside of Barstow. It was mid-summer and the temperature was around 100° Fahrenheit (~37.8° Celsius). They were off-road and afraid that they wouldn't be able to find their way back to the road in the dark, but they wanted to catch Mitch's hat eclipsing the setting sun. Kirstin had an injured foot or ankle and was unable to walk with the others; it was as much as she could manage to stand in one place while the men walked up behind her. In other words, they were all totally miserable, anxious, and rushing to finish the video shoot as quickly as possible. And NONE of that shows. What we see is a cold winter day in the desert, with a very artistic decision to have Kirstin just standing there while the others walk up, as if she's the centerpiece of the video. The effect was enhanced in editing when someone (probably Ben Bram) decided to briefly cut to Kirstin's face when Avi sings "Her beauty in the moonlight overthrew you." Pentatonix isn't joking when they call themselves "The Lucky Ones" (another original song, BTW). Everything about the group flies in the face of normal expectations. How were three such incredibly talented people as Kirstin, Mitch, and Scott all born in the same small town, within a year of each other? Without that, there would be no Pentatonix. How lucky was it that Scott met Ben Bram and heard about _The Sing-Off?_ And that Ben knew exactly the right bass to recommend? And that a guy who had just graduated with a pre-med major was willing to give up his place at Yale Medical School to join three teenagers and a bass on a television talent show? The trio has, somehow, always been able to find just the right person for a job, from Avi to Kevin to Ben Bram (whom they hired when all they had was their winnings from _The Sing-Off_ and hope), to Ed Boyer (their audio editor) to Matt to a whole slew of great set designers - ALWAYS they find the perfect person. Sorry; I'm veering off-topic 🤦♀️. My point was actually the set designers. Didn't they do a marvelous job? Watching the video you'd swear the group really was in a snowy forest at sunrise.

Just added this one to my list so I can check out too
Not to burst your bubble, but even though Pentatonix released "The Prayer" on a Christmas album it's no more a Christmas song than "Hallelujah" is (yet another non-Christmas song that Pentatonix released on a Christmas album).
Thank u for sharing that info with me. That gives me a different perspective on it in a good way
@@RetroQuinReactsDo you remember how they were dressed in "Hallelujah"?
The effect was enhanced in editing when someone (probably Ben Bram) decided to briefly cut to Kirstin's face when Avi sings "Her beauty in the moonlight overthrew you."
Pentatonix isn't joking when they call themselves "The Lucky Ones" (another original song, BTW).
