You always show up to me when I'm looking for a specific reaction so that's why I'll request this album. It's called Preacher's Daughter, a hauntingly beautiful concept album by Ethel Cain. It's genres are Americana music, Gothic rock, Ethereal wave, Contemporary folk music, Dark ambient, there is also one "cheerful song" until you look at the lyrics. She wrote the concept, the lyrics, produced the whole thing, and sang it beautifully. She's an alto with an alternative gospel vocal style. Grew up Baptist Christian with a family heavily involved in the church, her father was a deacon, her mom was involved with the choir which is probably where she found love for music and singing. You can hear the religious themes and choir in the music. She has struggled with the church and the community growing up as a queer kid who was admitted to religious therapy. She distanced herself from her religious family, grew up and came out as a trans woman at 20. She has then reconciled and forgiven. You can hear the religious trauma in her music, as her writing is inspired from her life. The artist actual name is Hayden Silas Anhedönia, she said that she don't see Ethel Cain as a character or as an alter-ego but more of an aspect of herself that was taking over her, then she cut it and is watching over it. I would recommend a genius on the first listen (after each song) cause you don't want spoilers. She also has a 90 minutes EP titled Perverts with it's own concept coming January 8th. The lead single Punish is already out with a video
Have you ever tried anything by Swans? Definitely not a band I'd recommend to a lot of people, but given the variety of artists on this list, there's a decent chance they'd be up your alley. (If you do check them out, it would probably be a good idea to do some research yourself on which album would be the best starting point, since their discography is so varied.)
@@whoisdonnieboi Yeah, it's 2 hrs, and over a quarter of that is one song 😭But if you can get into it, it's definitely one of the most unique album experiences you can have, almost cinematic. Some of the grandest, heaviest moments in music are on To Be Kind and other Swans albums, and I'd say you should try to hear them at least once.
Hope u guys had a good new years
U2 bro
You should review sidewalks and skeleton's white light album, it's literal heaven
