My budgies love music. My husband play the acoustic guitar and sings to them. They get excited and start chirping. I also sing to them while I clean their cage. I'm still hoping to earn their trust.
Hey David, you're an excellent trainer! I have a question, i have tamed my male budgie enough to trust me with my hand, pet it, step up, stay on my hand (even sleep, and preen on my hand) BUT I can't take my budgie away from its comfort area of the room (i.e. the cage, window, and perches where they fly around). It may be because of the female budgie? (shes semi-tamed) but what do you suggest i should try to let him trust me more that I could move him around on my hand slightly farther than the typical 1m x 2m territory of their own. Sorry for the long question 😅 thank you so much for your videos! They're very helpful and motivating!
Hello! No problem I'm happy to help. It really just takes practice. Giving your bird the option to come out and fly around everyday will really help. Of course don't force her too. But just opening the cage door and allowing your bird to get curious. You can also try training her on the top of the cage so she gets used to being out. You can also keep her on your finger and take one step at a time in the opposite direction of the cage. If she doesn't fly away, give her a treat. Keep doing this until she is comfortable in many areas in your room. One thing that is so, so important is having something that she can look forward to outside of the cage. For my birds its their massive playstand in which I put there food on. They are always super eager to come out and play on the stand and eat. Hope this helps I can do a video on it soon. If you have anymore questions please let me know. Id love to help.
Ok, so you are going to need to transition your bird over to a healthy diet. This can take time and commitment. First you need to know what a healthy diet is. I have two videos on my channel about this. Then you can go over to BirdTricks youtube channel and figure out how to convert it and make healthy food.
