I love seeing how calm and tame all the other budgies are, and then there's my budgie, Scout, hyperactive, running around his cage ever since the second day, flipping 180 while hanging. I love this.
hi, i just got a budgie too! i got him saturday morning and named him Cerulean. he's very timid and quiet. wish you luck with your bird, i already love mine
When I got my budgies, I kept their cage near us (by us I mean my family of 4) the first week. The second week they were already eating millet that I gave them and standing in my hand to eat seed. I have gently offered them to come out of the cage, but they run back to it again. Edit: Still, I'm really happy to have them.
BIRD TRICKS is a UA-cam channel that differs greatly with this idea of leaving them alone inside a cage even for a day when you first get him. . If you do that, they will always go to the cage for comfort and not you.
I’ve tamed a few budgies in the past and what’s worked really well for me is just putting enough seeds in your hand to lessen sight of your hand and hold out your hand to offer the seeds but move slow and never chase them with it and as time goes on within 2 days you’ll have them eating out of your hands and starting to step onto your hand for better reach
I give love and everything I can offer but my litte girl attacks me after one grab and since day one have been agresive, time to gift it to some one xD and get a new one
I got a beautiful little budgie on Sept 9th and named her Dolly. She is incredibly sweet and adorable. I have taught her that I have a soft voice and gentle hands. She has taught me that she has enough love and personality to fill the whole house. How can a tiny bird bring such joy? She is a treasure. ❤️🐦😊
7 years ago we started taming our now passed away male and female budgie. The male was 2 years old when we started taming him. It was a lot harder to tame him because of his age, but after 2 years he was fully tamed. The male passed away 2 years ago unfortunatly. His sister is still alive, happy and very healthy. She's almost 11 years old now. She looks great for such an old "grandma". She lives with 4 budgies (3 males and 1 female). The oldest male budgie is her partner now. They do everything together. It's great to see her so happy! Hopefully she lives another 11 years.

Well, I've tried almost everything, after 4 months my birds are still freaking out of my hands even when I'm changing their food and water! 😞 Gaining a bird's trust is much more difficult than cats or dogs it seems 🙃
It's probably because of movements in the room like running around , yelling , quick movements , it's the small stuff that can make him scared try to stay as calm as u can with him give it some extra time don't pull away when u put ur hand in its cage let them calm down and when they are relaxed take it out slowly
it's not your fault, if they just don't bond with you after repeated effort of you, it's theirs. i have my female and male budgie, the older male sadly passed away, so i got her a younger male. ever since, she has been training him to not be near me, even though he was very close to me in the very few weeks. she trained him by starting to deny him food, pick on him or neglect love, whenever she has seen him getting too close to me. so he stopped interacting with me entirely. ever since then, i dont really care about my birds anymore, ive tried many many times, been gentle always, and they already fly around the cage when i just change water. the budgies i had before all were tamed very easily. i treated every budgie with the same respect and calmness, but this female i have is just shit. i just change their foods and water nowadays, sometimes speak to them, but dont care about any relation to them. Many times it's the their fault for not bonding, not yours.

I use to whistle when I came in the house and mine use to fly downstairs straight onto my hand and he loved being thumb wrestled. Also could never keep him in his cage and use to wake up with him on me sleeping
Love the channel. Monthly, remove everything from my 24 inch by 36 inch aviary. I wheel it into the bathtub and sanitize everything. All the toys and perches are similarly cleaned and most replaced. After 10 months of this routine, it takes a whole day until my four budgies return to the habitat. Any suggestions to cutting down on return time would be appreciated.
Using vinegar+water+lemon juice can make this process a little easier, as you won't have to wait at all to put the budgies back in. Just gotta find a mixture you like the best!
I love to tame budgie but when you can't spend time with them then it will be frustrated for budgies, So that if you have enough time to spend time with them then you may permit to tame budgies, otherwise never tame budgie.
In the past we owned several budgies bought from a pet shop. We were able to tame all of them except one which just cowered in the cage and nothing we tried worked.
Yes my budgies are tame and they do various tricks. I've had them from all ages, some with disabilities. My budgie family all talk. Please consider freeranging your budgies, if you have several. Check for preditors first, do you have birds of prey locally? Our late queen had 2 averies of free-range budgies for 90 years.

During the two-week period that you let your budgie get to know the area, can you still try to train it, or do you just leave it alone?
you should leave it alone
My friend got her first bird one and a half months ago and all she did was grab it out and show her around the house put it back and let it go on her hand and the bird got tamed the first day
But not all budgies are the same btw
My budgies are very stubborn. Even if I try to tame them for alot time, they dont bother:(
Mine too... Everybody says people who keep their budgies in a cage is cruel but they don't ever want to leave it... I'm finally developing, and I hope the same for you!
@@Dandelions479 cage or not, i leave mine freely in the entire appartment, they still dont trust me and just do their own shit. ive spent entire weeks taming them, i was extremely careful, slow, talked to them every day, never grabbed them, nothing.
0 progress, they start to fly away once i exchange their food.
I couldn’t be arsed with waiting so I just started picking him up and hand feeding him and now he loves being picked up after 2 days 🤣
But doesn't budgies get scared of getting picked up though? You also might be mistaking its emotion?
I just bought a pair and according to store assistants they said they are 3 months old. How long do they take to get used to their new environment
A week to a month.
I miss cookie so much 😢😞😫😭😩😪😢😞😫 I can see him on the video here he is fine 4 days later he died fly high!

thanks for the help, I lost 3 of my budgies today because they escaped. and now I only have one bird it was really hard :( edit: today I’m getting a new bird or 2 I’m gonna get a cockatiel and probably another budgie to keep my budgie in compony incase the cockatiel and the budgie don’t go well
easier to first tame the first budgie before getting another
@@louisedemarillac777 oh okay thanks alott
I use to whistle when I came in the house and mine use to fly downstairs straight onto my hand and he loved being thumb wrestled. Also could never keep him in his cage and use to wake up with him on me sleeping
0:53 aww i have a baby budgie looking just like this one
The birds beautiful you video is beautiful
Love the channel.
Monthly, remove everything from my 24 inch by 36 inch aviary. I wheel it into the bathtub and sanitize everything. All the toys and perches are similarly cleaned and most replaced. After 10 months of this routine, it takes a whole day until my four budgies return to the habitat. Any suggestions to cutting down on return time would be appreciated.
Using vinegar+water+lemon juice can make this process a little easier, as you won't have to wait at all to put the budgies back in. Just gotta find a mixture you like the best!
@@lizziehn5928 Thanks. I always let the flock come back in when they want to.
Perfect timing since my budgies have babies
Rest in peace little cookie. I hope your doing alr.
1:35 he starts the tips
I love to tame budgie but when you can't spend time with them then it will be frustrated for budgies, So that if you have enough time to spend time with them then you may permit to tame budgies, otherwise never tame budgie.
Where are you from? 😌

In the past we owned several budgies bought from a pet shop. We were able to tame all of them except one which just cowered in the cage and nothing we tried worked.
My budgies are having such a hard time settling in, idk what I am doing wrong. Hopefully they’ll settle in soon.
How are they now???
Yes my budgies are tame and they do various tricks. I've had them from all ages, some with disabilities. My budgie family all talk. Please consider freeranging your budgies, if you have several. Check for preditors first, do you have birds of prey locally? Our late queen had 2 averies of free-range budgies for 90 years.
Hello!! Thanks for the video, came in the perfect time.
Can you make a video on how to take your bird back to his cage? I have one scared bird and we’re in the tame process, but he doesn’t let me touch him yet, so it’s difficult to put him back in to sleep. Thanks for your videos
Him : It is simple to tame budgie
my budgie : Are you sure about that bruvv?
I made an edit for you and your birds ☺️
You are a kind person I hope you will look at that 😊 it's my dream to get a comment from your channel luv your vids! 😃
Please 🥺 look at that 😃
Rip Cookie 😭 welp i have a budgie named Cookie too but this was the real Cookie
