- We grew some heirloom carrots called Purple Dragon. They were pretty purple looking, and they tasted good too. They also produced really well.
I garden in zone 6b. We have some pretty challenging weather sometimes. I don't claim to be an expert, so you will see my successes and my failures. I really appreciate feedback, so please say hi so I'll know you've dropped by.

Thanks.
Such an INCREDIBLE purple carrot harvest :-) and I LOVED watching all the different stages of them over the weeks, I bet they were DELICIOUS :-) thanks so much for sharing Jim and sending heaps of love and happy growing from Ireland for a BRILLIANT Friday XXXXX
Thanks for the great comment, Lyn. Much appreciated.
beautiful carrots
Thanks.
These progression videos from seed to harvest are cool. :-)
Thanks. I thought they might be helpful to some people. They are a bit of a pain to put together, but it shows more of the big picture.
Oh, these look so good! This color will make any kid eat them :) They look like grape popsicles :)
I never though of that, but they do look like that a little.

I love the taste, too. I buy California grown from the store. I try to grow them a couple of times but they came out too small. Yours look great!
Amazing thank you
You're welcome Ebony!
Makes sense the way you thin the carrots, always good to have back up plants. By the way I have found a supplier for the black cherry tomatoes so I will be growing them next year after watching your vid!!
Great news on the black cherries. Hope you like them as much as we do. They produce an amazing number of tomatoes.
Those are some pretty looking carrots. How do they taste? I had a couple of my carrots flower this year too. I should have let it so I could save seeds from it but I pulled it. Still have a few more carrots in the ground. Maybe I'll let one or two go to seed. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks. I would say they have just and average carrot taste, but that is find with my. They might have tasted better in the fall. I'm letting one go to seed, and will save seeds from that one. It has about 6 flower heads on it. I accidently broke the main one.
Jim carrots just don't look right unless they are orange. I think I'll grow some. :-D .I guess they taste the same? Best wishes Bob.
To me, they taste pretty much the same, but they are kind of cool to look at, and it is something to show friends and family when they come over.
They look amazing. Do you have a favorite way to incorporate your purple carrots into a healthy dish? I bet they would be great in salads.
They do have great eye appeal. The skin is purple, but the inside is orange, with a lighter orange core. We ate some cooked too.....mixed with some of our rainbow carrots.
how was the flavor. planted carrots for fall 10 days ago, noticed they are -1in.. planted the colorful beets seeds of change 3 days ago, turnips again soon you plant a 2nd crop of root crops? oh yeah planting cabbage by seed and kolorabi too will use tow covers. thanks for a nice nice video
Thanks for watching. I would call the flavor, average. I think they would be better in the fall. Yes, I planted a few carrots, and a few beets, but they don't seem to be coming up very well. Don't know if those will be a wash out or not. Sounds like you have a nice fall crop started.
+Midwest Gardener beets and carrots in summer i plant on soil add sand water and cover with a 6 in board a couple days keeping it moist. carrots and beets germ hard sometimes slow too.

I like the board idea......thanks.
+Midwest Gardener old hungarian man 50 yrs ago taught me that.
im growing theese
Cool. They did pretty well for us.
They look good Jim, did they taste okay?
They tasted like an average carrot, but that is good enough for me.
Are they sweeter than orange carrots?
I would say close to the same, or maybe a little less. Any carrot is sweeter when harvested after a frost or two.
