    Once on the way back from high school in my pickup I was driving down the road back home and i seen something laying in a driveway i saw it move its head but not get up. So i pulled over and got out of the pickup and seen it was a black kitten that got hit by a car but somehow still alive. I picked her up and brought her to the vet to get all cleaned up and check her leg. a few weeks later she was just now starting to play. She is still with me to this day on my lap while i type this comment.

    • @jaegerbutt
      @jaegerbutt 8 років тому +50

      More like humans have no business in a wild animals domain. Even if it was an introduced species in the area it is still the humans' fault for having put the animal there. The fox is just trying to survive.

      I'd have a hard time letting her go, too. I'd be visiting that wildlife centre every few days to see her. It would just be TOO hard to give her up forever. I almost cried when she started howling when the can was on her head. Poor baby!!! She could never live on her own because she didn't have a mom to teach her how to live in the forest. She is SOOOOOOOO adorable!! I didn't realize that foxes kind of barked like dogs. It was so cute!

    • @saramyshihtzuloveyou1496
      @saramyshihtzuloveyou1496 7 років тому +11

      I couldn't either but if they live in an area like I do with farms the fox could get loose and onto a farmer's property then get shot, thats how it is here,
      where I live I passed a farmer's yard with ducks and chickens, and a sign that said "Any dogs come on my property I shoot to kill" so that is clear to me. foxes included. so its not doing it a favour keeping it like a dog confined or tied up,

      I had a beautiful, loyal friend as a child, his name was REX, he was half german shepherd, and half wolf. He always protected me when I would walk in the woods, ( we lived on a farm ) our neighbor who lived about 3-5 miles away poisoned my REX because HE thought my REX was eating his chickens, but REX never even went close to OUR chickens and they always roamed free! I know by know that man is dead and good riddance!

      @@nrs4866 - She was either abandoned or her momma got killed! They just put these orphans in with other babies so they learn how to be foxes and then let them go back where I guess they belong!?! I would have kept and domesticated her! She was so comfortable with her humans that rescued her... I guess I want to keep all baby animals and animals I find. I used to manage feral cat colonies and I had a rough time rehoming the kittens after socializing them! I loved them all so much and the momma cats too... I am too sickly now and had to move out of state and I do not have the energy or strength to help like I used to... I miss my babies....

      @symonsheppard5519 8 років тому

      TYRES1987 .....yeah, let's go vegan, we really must stop eating foxes, especially fox Cubs, hardly any flavour anyway, but not too bad in a braised curry, the meat just falls off the bone.
      No I don't eat foxes that would be as realistic as being a vegan.

    • @TYRES1987
      @TYRES1987 8 років тому +3

      Symon Donna Well it might not be realistic to you, but i've been vegan for many years and i have never felt better, I even got stronger on a vegan diet. And it's not just about foxes, it's about ALL animals who get used, abused and tortured for human greed. It makes the holocaust look not so bad.

      That's where the catch with this sort of stuff lies.
      It tends to be less about the animal's health and well being, as in captivity they tend to be happier and healthier anyway, and more about... Well, people being stupid and overreacting.
      If you live in a rural or open suburban area you have options, assuming you can get a permit. But in populated areas dumb people will shoot a fox that tries to approach them and be friendly. So essentially taming a domesticated or semi-domesticated fox and acclimating it to humans can get it killed.
      People also keep vicious dog breeds, and dogs with hunter ancestry, which wouldn't think twice about ripping apart a house cat that didn't know to run, let alone a fox.
      It's a real shame, because that fox shows all the behaviors the Russian domestication project selected for. She probably would have made a decent pet.

    For all those keyboard warriors who’s critical of these couple for letting it go...
    have minute to rationalize that it’s a wild animal, not a domesticated dog. They did the right thing by giving the care it initially needed and letting the professionals take care of the final phase of preparing it for the wild, where it will live as intended.
    It had to be hard for them to let it go, trust me, it’s harder for them as it was for the fox.
    Amazing couple with amazing hearts. Having to courage not to give into their selfish emotional attachment

      The fact is, it would have had a happy, safe, healthy and long life of ease and being loved, forcing it back into the wild ensured a hard, short and dangerous life . Just a fact, any way you want to look at it. Do some research into lifespan of so called wild animals kept in captivity as pets.

    • @pookiemonkey1474

      Mitch, you’re right. We should all adopt “wild” animals and domesticate them. It’s the most humane thing to do...
      That was tongue and cheek. For those who don’t get sarcasm.
      Have you ever thought that maybe they never wanted to have a fox as a pet? Or maybe your personal justification don’t care enough about the good samaritans situation. Or maybe you just want to force your self righteous merits on others.
      You’re woke

      Coyote, eagle and hawk food in the wild. If they come around homes, dogs attack and kill them. Life is hard in the wild. If they were born and raised in the wild, you would not know and care, but to raise them in captivity and then let them go I think is wrong, and cruel. I would love to find a fox pup or racoon cub.

Presumably the people at the sanctuary will know if she's too socialised to humans to be wild again. If she IS too tame, I hope these people get her back.
