Absolutely amazing how the themes of the two shades wanting nothing more than complete themselves to be with the ones they love could work so well together...you know what forget if this could be the "Louise VS Shadowlord" theme. This feels like the "Louise and Shadowlord joining forces against Nier" theme and if that actually happened, Nier wouldn't have stood a chance!

Holy cow I adore your take in this mashup. You allow both themes to establish themselves into the song by changing between them with different blends and parts. It actually does follow the structure of a song with proper themes, pre-chorus, chorus and bridge, with both songs interchangeably taking the roles during different parts of the song. Magnificently done!

With all due respect to gestalt Yonah and the Postman, Louise was the perfect, Shade little sister Shadowlord could've asked for and Shadowlord would've been the perfect man to learn from in terms of wanting to be whole and gain family; Louise was the Yin and Shadowlord Yang since they harmonize well with one another.
PS. If they had worked together, no one had any power to stop their want to be whole and have a family on their own, not even either Weiss or Noir.
I LOVE the idea of them being a family together. Very sad we'll never see it happen.

Ehh I feel like Shadowlord would be dead-set on his Yonah being brought back to him either way. Both versions of Nier were completely obsessed with her- and Shadowlord had been waiting over a thousand years to see his sibling without illness and in the flesh once more.
Wonderful. Immaculate. The blending of sounds makes for such an impactful cacophony, a beautiful mix of noble and barbaric feelings. Beating drums draw out the tension in this theme. The organ and its echoes are so divine, like the misunderstood shades in this story. The piece at the end where the music box and the piano play against each other if even for a moment really reinforce the distinction between these two people.
I hope that for all your skill proven in this remix alone that you only keep going strong. Videos like this, and ones where you cover the intricacies of other songs, are some of the best kinds of content on this platform, and it's hard to find others that do it like you.

This has got to be one of the best things ive heard in my life. The similarities and differences between two songs entertwining, exactly depicting how Louise and the Shadowlord might be 2 different entities, having different wants and circumstances yet they are both shades of enourmous power and shared the same fate; death in the hands of the same replicant.
I wasn't really expecting for you to come through with the mash-up but I guess everyone wanted it the moment you pointed it out in the Fleeting Words video. Thank you so much for sharing this and I'm going to treat this as a very special advance birthday present 🥰

I can't believe I'm seven months behind of this. And the others as well. I'm not an expert on music theory but somehow every single explanation started to make sense when it's being demonstrated with the notes. I play advanced level violin but that's about it.
And i can't believe I couldn't notice such striking resemblance to the overall structure of both! They literally made a masterpiece on the soundtracks. Every single one of them. And you made this mashup applying all the discussions you had on the Nier Music videos!
All this time I've played the Nier Series, from the PS3 up to the remake and Automata on PC and it always sounds as glorious as the first time I heard them.
Now you had to give me twice the mental trauma for this but damn it's all worth it! Love your content bro!
You play advanced violin and that's it??? Give yourself more credit, that is incredibly impressive! Especially since you already play an instrument that can produce multiple notes at once, I bet you could learn the rest of music theory pretty smoothly if you ever had the itch.

I know we've done enough NieR for now. But I would absolutely love a deeper dive on Rays of Light and Shade from Automata someday. I've been obsessed with those two songs and how each reflects the current point of the players emotional journey at the times you first hear them / their varied versions.
We will ABSOLUTELY be talking about City Ruins in the future. Don't yet know when... but yeah. This is one of the top 10 most requested NieR tracks, and it's also one I love.

This was beyond what i could've hoped for, having both melodies have an epic yet beautiful collide with one another was so good for the ears. I am a huge fan of the NieR franchise and that goes for the soundtrack as well. Here I am thinking that no one can just mix great songs together without ruining their specific feeling to it but you actually proved me wrong and it's absolutely INCREDIBLE! You managed to keep the NieR Vibe going so it doesn't feel off for one bit, respect

I'm still in awe of the way you explored these pieces, exposed their bones for us all to see, then rebuilt them in greater glory, united in their strife and, in that process, laying our own souls bare. You touched on this point briefly in the video on "Fleeting Words", but theres absolutely no way that this is coincidence how they work.
While is theme is still so unique to each character and portrays them each perfectly, these are the themes of the two shades who were almost human. Who wanted nothing more than to be human. I think that much like the different versions of "Song of the Ancients" can vastly differ yet carry one underlying narrative theme, these two songs represent a second underlying narrative theme to the game. Again, one of those things that so few people playing the game would ever notice, and that's the beauty of the games.
Absolutely immaculate inclusion of counterpoint here. It was hard to imagine Shadowlord feeling any more powerful, but here we are. I fully believe you've arranged something remarkable.

Both Nier titles were an experience that just stuck with me. Both in themes and soundtrack there was something that made me always think about these stories and now, listening to the mix of two soundtracks that i never saw so much conjoined, i feel like the first time i played Nier replicant. It is a nice feeling, thank you for this music!

You didn't force passages together that didn't fit just to mix them. You knew exactly when to seperate the tracks when needed while not making the transitions feel sudden or out of place.

Thank you! The part at 1:20 is from around 2:20 in the album version, which you can find on SoundCloud. I got the instrumental version directly from the game rips (even though I'm pretty sure that part never plays in game) which I believe can be found at archive.org, although someone emailed them to me directly.

I'll have to say for the replicant remaster though louise made quite an impression in her route A. gave you no clue it was a scripted loss, just let you struggle against a life bar that refuses to move for 5 minutes, go on run out of all your helpful items and feel hopeless

This is the theme for that theoretical scenario that Devola and Popola spoke about. If Nier failed, Louis was their backup to eliminate the shadowlord.

It really is so rewarding! I tried many methods of mixing the simultaneous vocals before landing on stereo panning, (it's still muddy on mono speakers...) but it really does feel like solving a puzzle! And you know you're welcome anytime :)

It took me many listenings to really appreciate the new things that were merged here. But now that i'm more familiar with your style, i think the two resolutions that hits at 1:53 and 4:22 are one of the best there is. It feels very powerul, and the voices over the crashing instruments are just so intense that it gives me chills. Amazing work !
