- While the overwhelming consensus is that planet Earth is round, someone might ask that you provide proof other than the pictures astronauts took of Earth. In which case, you might want to know some cool ways to prove that our planet is a sphere and not a flat disc. The stick and shadow, sinking ship effect, different time zones, and gravity are introduced in this video. While there are many more ways to prove the spherical nature of planet Earth, these hopefully are enough.

There are those who claim Earth is a flat disc with the arctic in the center and Antarctica, with its great wall of ice, around the rim. Some say the Government guard this ice wall to hide our flatness. Others say, it’s not the shape but rather the truth about the space program, that in reality it was all a sham and that no one actually went into space to take a look at our planet. If everyone is lying, how do we know Earth isn’t flat? First the classics, the stick and shadow. Back in the day, Eratosthenes noticed that if you stick a rod into the ground at two different locations sufficiently far apart, the length of the shadow they cast are different. And since the Sun is so far away its rays are almost parallel to each other, he concluded that Earth must be round. If you live near a coast, go find and watch a large ship sail off into the distance. The taller the better. If Earth were flat, the ship would just get smaller and smaller as it sails away, until it becomes impossible to see with the naked eye. However in reality, you’ll notice that it gets smaller and smaller until the bottom of the ship starts to disappear into the ocean, as if it’s sinking. But no worries, all it’s doing is hiding behind the curvature of our beloved planet. This should be proof enough that our world is round, and many would agree. However what if this is the result of some kind of unknown optical illusion. What do we do now? Hopefully method number 3, the existence of time zones, is more convincing. If we all lived on a flat disc, the sun would either be up or down for everyone. This can be easily verified. Just call up a few friends who live abroad, and check to see if they all see the sun or not. I’ll bet some of your friends will report the sun is just rising, while others report it’s high in the sky or that the moon took its place. This can only happen if we live on a spinning sphere and the sun shines on one side while the other side hides from it. This should convince even the most skeptical, but let’s say for example that the sun has the capability of directing it’s rays only on specific regions of the disc while rotating above it. Like how stage spotlights can illuminate just the stage while the audience watch in the dark. If we can accept that light from a rotating Sun can somehow selectively shine only on certain areas below it, and unlike an audience of a play noticing the spotlights and their effects, that this phenomenon cannot be observed elsewhere, wouldn’t that allow our Flat Earth to have regular time zones as well? I think it’s time to bring out the big guns. The fourth method, gravity. Gravity is the force that pull stuff towards each other. To be specific, toward the center of mass. So simply by have gravity, a flat earth is not possible. Gravity will pull on the outer parts until things are nice and round. This is why celestial objects we see in the sky are spherical. But for the sake of argument, let’s assume a flat earth with gravity is possible. Unlike a round Earth, where the center of mass is always below you wherever you stand, on a flat Earth, gravity pulls you down only at the center of the disc. And as you move away from the center, gravity will pull at you from an angle. The more you move away, the steeper the angle. As a consequence, water will flow towards the center, trees will grow away from it in order to stay upright and walking towards the edge will feel like an uphill hike even though the ground is flat. Is this what you observe around you? Probably not. Unless you’re in the center of the disc, which would be the Arctic according to the Flat Earth map, a quick glance of your surroundings and a brisk walk around the neighborhood should tell you, you live on a round planet not a flat one. But what if gravity itself is an illusion and our flat Earth is actually accelerating upward at 9.81 meters per second per second. Wouldn’t this also explain what we observe whenever we drop an object and let it fall to the ground? Except if earth continues to accelerate upward so we can drop stuff downward at some point it will have to go faster than the speed of light. Which can't happen. - Наука та технологія

@@thomasgrabham5220 In all honesty, I subscribe to a few pretty plausible conspiracies, like: "Covid wasn't an accident and there is probably a cabal of wealthy folk who are polarizing countries to usher in a Great Reset." but where I draw the line is claiming we live on a disk, and there's some sort of mirror on the moon and nobody can leave the atmosphere, it's all just a play. That to me sounds like loony shit, especially since there's no evidence to support that theory. Most of you guys pointing at grainy "CGI" footage and plant seeds like "Why did this frame flash white when the camera was facing north-west.." It's baseless, we don't live in The Truman Show. As soon as the Clouds start to glitch and the sun starts to flicker, then maybe I'll give your theory a shot, but until then, I'll stick to the thousands of years of documentation.

I thought that the Earth is circle or egg-shaped and etc, but not flat. Nearly all scentists say this but it is still a debate. As a result of it i have doubts that is the Earth really flat?
Its easy to debunk flat earth when you consider the day night cycle model can't explain season in the same model. The average person knows that a giant flashlight in the sky is the dumbest idea ever but even so the flat earth model can't explain everything in one model as the heliocentric model can.

There are those who claim they know the physics of water and deny the effects of centrifugal force of water on a ball. Then they claim it's gravity holding the water, but again don't know the theory of gravity.
@@Semper_Fish At 1 revolution per day the centrifugal force is negligible, but it's enough that things weigh a wee bit less at the equator, and it's enough that the earth is slightly chubbier around the equator too. And the tides correspond with the position of the moon and sun.
Your point at 4:55 is not true. If you were to maintain a constant net force per unit mass through deep space to simulate a 1-g environment, it is possible to do this indefinitely. Practical, not at all practical, but put that aside. F = m*a is oversimplified, and doesn't apply when relativistic effects come in to play. F = dp/dt is what applies instead, and p is no longer equal to m*v as it is when v is much less than the speed of light.
For relativistic acceleration through space with net force per unit mass equal to the constant g, the velocity as a function of time is the following:
v=c*g*t/sqrt(c^2 + (g*t)^2)
v will grow asymptotically to meet c, as t gets large. But it will never get to c itself.
@@acidastor9693 With several other parts of Einstein's theory of relativity, you can certainly prove that this is an absurd scenario. An upward accelerating Earth at 9.8 m/s^2 would beg the question of what energy source is causing this acceleration, and it would be an unreasonable amount that you can show with the relativistic kinetic energy formula.
What Einstein's theory of general relativity really says, is that the 1-g environment you are currently within, is equivalent to being in an environment that is accelerating upward at 1 g. Given uniform gravity, no experiment would enable you to tell the difference, without an outside reference point for comparison. If you had sensitive enough measurements, you could detect converging plumb lines as a proof that you are in a gravitational field instead on the actual Earth of accelerating in the conventional sense. This would also require that there be no local geological features that create gravitational anomalies.
Einstein's theory of general relativity indicates that falling is simply the shortest path between now and the future through the space time continuum nearby mass that distorts space-time, and that the normal force is making you follow a different path through space-time. Free fall simply is the equivalent of the inertial geodesic through space-time, equivalent to being in an inertial reference frame that is in deep space away from all gravitational fields.

If the Earth was flat, and the sun was making any part of the earth complete daylight, the whole world would be daylight at the same time how you going to hide the light on something flat? Another thing is why does the moon sometime in a crescent it's because the sun's on the other side of the earth and that's the shadow of the curvature of the planet.

Eratosthenes proved that the light from the sun is diveregent. His two sticks standing straight up werent at two different relative angles because of a curved surface they were both straight relative to eachother and the suns rays which are divergent cast shadows at two different angles. That was your first "globe proof" you were wrong about the interpretation of it. Because you assume a heliocentric model which is a house of cards of assumptions. Earth is stationary and flat.

Who says gravity is pulling us east? The earth is spinning and that causes the Coriolis effect but it doesn't pull us at all. Relative motion disagrees.

im not a flat earther but your statement at 5:00 is incorrect. an accelerating object will never exceed the speed of light, even at a constant acceleration and for long periods of time. there does not exist a moment in time where a constantly accelerating object exceeds the speed of light.

There is know photo just a photo of earth all images The ISS flys around the earth and always show the curve impossible they are always in the center of earth

The one question that stumps the real scientists and engineers is "how can their be a pressurized system next to a vacuum without a solid barrier?" The earths systems all absorb the suns energy and retain much of it through the night. If the nights were much longer, there would be more time for the heat to dissipate and the nights would be much colder.
