What are the benefits. That’s my question, what does sitting with a complete clear mind for x amount of time do? Seriously asking. Honestly, I think meditation is way more complex and paradoxical than people make it out to be. I've been struggling a lot with it recently. I've been frustrated because I feel like my meditation practice has not been a very fruitful or worthwhile venture, but people keep telling me that you must detach yourself from the practical outcomes of meditation. The problem is that those practical outcomes are the only reason I meditate in the first place. It's very confusing and paradoxical. It really isn't as simple as some people say.

As someone whos meditated for a long time, I find it more optimal to meditate without an alarm. When your alarm rings you can subconsciously associate that ringing to mean you are permanently done meditating, which can result in you compartmentalizing meditation only to the instant when you practice. You are also shocked out of the session. Meditation should be something that you try and do all the time. I think it would be better to simply have a clock in front of you without the alarm. This way you are not shocked out of meditation, you peacefully transition out of it and you realize that you can meditate whenever you want without having to rely on an alarm.

What happened when I simply said that I meditate was that I was laughed at and mocked. They don't even know what meditation is and yet they still laugh at me like I'm some kind of fool. Seems like some among us have lost the uninhibited curiosity we all inherited as children...
My first experience meditating for 5 minutes: I have never mediated before. I am usually a deep thinker and am constantly thinking or stimulating my brain by reading, working, watching videos, playing games, practicing music, learning new skills, etc. I cannot really sit still for very long unless I am trying to fall asleep. For 5 minutes I did nothing but focus on my breath. When a thought popped in, I inhaled a deep breath to isolate the thought, and exhaled to push it out of my mind (I imagined my inhale was capturing the thought in a bubble and exhale was blowing it away out of my headspace). Near the end, I started to be overcome by intense euphoria like some sort of runner's high... it actually made it really difficult to focus on my breathing. It was so intense I almost had to stop, but my alarm went off and the 5min was up. It was weird... I never would have guessed it would be so hard to focus on nothing! I am looking forward to trying it again tomorrow. Hopefully it won't be so intense.
First time I meditated, I felt like I was getting pulled and stretched from the wall, like something was pulling every piece of skin on me to the wall. It felt pretty wild.
I am blazing it this year! It could be meditation, cold showers or NoFap or all combined but I'm just so energetic! I'm 15 and I meditate 20 minutes a day. Done it for 7 months.
After almost a year of meditating one hour everyday, I've learned: *Meditation is the best way to stop an addiction. Personally it's mindlessly browsing UA-cam and watching Porn. I've learned that it's just random thoughts in different shape controlling you, trying to convince you. If you meditate long enough you'll notice that urges come and go. And the longer you sit through this hell of thoughts, the less the urge becomes. Which brings me to the next point on productivity: *You can't focus if you think about your addictions all the time. Obviously. You won't be affected by them if you don't give in for a few days. That's why I meditate everytime I feel the urge creep up, so I can process it. So boost your focus by doing nothing for long periods of time, instead of feeding your mind with impulses. I'll visit a Vipassana retreat in August. I'll try to sit through the full 10 days, and share my insights. I'm on my way to a more productive life, by removing the nonsense with meditation as a tool. I highly encourage you to do the same.
Nupeee- you gotta sit cross legged :O but at that point of legs falling asleep-- that's already crossing into buddtist meditation, Yes I agree with what the person in the video has said but the most recommended (my mother side are all monks, and my mother has said that everything around u are distractions, including your body heat) so before meditation, ♡ wear light loose clothing, have your hair tied and nothing should be touching you ♡ **your entire body should be relaxed, yes u can slouch but not to a point where u should be feeling pain- nope** ▪︎ put a folded t shirt on your lap and put your hands on it, make sure your hands dont touch each other and fingers too ▪︎ make sure you arent meditating on your bed but on a mattress or a comfortable place, not a floor because it's hard-- remember, my mother (also becoming monk) foresaw all the issues and distractions ppl might have so she highly suggests for everyone to breathe easily in a meditation position first, no phones, no nothing, just you and your breath... then once a few mins have passed and you are more relaxed and ready for meditation. Start it ♡♡♡ Start breathing in and out of your nose abit forcefully in a pattern, not too slow, not too fast, but a little fast ♡ loudly so u can hear your breathing- focus your mind and focus on your nostrils- like they are the gate or door to a house, (know when the cold air comes in- do ur best to not miss it! Every breath coming in, only IN because only when you have practiced meditation to a point where you dont miss any INs, then start knowing when air goes out of your nose as well ♡♡♡ REMEMBER dont follow the air going into your lungs, there shouldn't be enough time for that, and only your stomach should be moving- your whole body should be still and relaxed and down ♡♡ your face, shoulders, body, legs, fingers, toes- no tension should be present ♡♡♡ Eyes must be closed because people get distracted easily- yes know when your thoughts come into your mind, then refocus back onto your nose ♡♡♡ ignore anything that is around you, nothing exist except for your breath ♡♡♡ your house, your room, your family, friends, phone, your body, the floor nothing exist at the moment except for your breathing ♡♡♡ Hope this helped!
@@davidpapovich4607 Oh yeah. Many, maybe most people come to meditation because of deep suffering and want to learn a way out. And this is exactly the path of meditation. I have a channel where I post tips about mindfulness meditation. I am a certified teacher btw.
This was very helpful, I just did this for 6 minutes and at the end it felt like I was slipping into deep meditation and the alarm startled me but my mind was blank the entire time just focusing on my breathing it felt so relaxing and peaceful
You basically experienced what monks call "blissfulness". The relaxed calm, when you have no need to replenish your focus or your energy and can't fall asleep, yet you still clear your mind to find your "happy place".
When i was having anxiety problems i got help and had a few months with sessions with a Psychologist, most important thing i learned and will never forget is to FEEL YOUR EMOTIONS AND DONT RUN AWAY FROM THEM. Running led me to a deep place so medidate so that u can actually feel what isnt going right with u and feel that emotion ( which will leed you to feeling great and confident trust me)
be aware and feel all anxiety symptoms physically and mentally to habituate to what you fear. habituate and building tolerance against that fear is the best way. dont run away. FACE YOUR FEAR AND BE AWARE THAT ALL YOUR SYMPTOMS ARE JUST BECAUSE OF ANXIETY DISORDER AND NOTHING ELSE.
Do u do just this breathing mindfulness meditation or are there others you recommend trying? I’m new to this and struggle with dealing w anxiety and emotions
Mine was face itchy 😂😂😂😂 im n my 3rd day now! when my eyes close i see moving shadows sort of then i after how many minutes i waa able to just breathe and nothin else!! It was surprising lol
Thanks to this video, I just meditated for the first time. Those 5 minutes went pretty quick. The hardest part was keeping focus. My mind kept bringing up the worst parts of my life and I had to keep shifting back to my breathing.
SALAMAT SA VIDEO NATO DAHIL MAY MATUTUNAN NA NAMAN AKO! LALO NA NGAYON MARAMING TAO ANG NAKARARANAS NG DEPRESSION. SO ITS PERFECT NA MAG MEDITATE TAYO.
Just had my first 5 minute session, it’s very relaxing and also hard to keep the focus on my breath, but everytime my focus starting to stray I did my best to revert back to my breath. Just in the one session did I feel very relaxed and peaceful. I recommend meditation to anyone and I am definitely going to do this daily from now on. Thanks for the video man. :)
Woah, 1 month? Idk if its weird but started noticing the benefits in a week or less so I always look forward to meditating each day (I noticed positive mood, improved concentration and Im able to control my temper a bit more, which is a huge thing for me I have terrible temper) I guess it does differ depending on the person
No One I have a horrible temper... OK GONNA MEDITATE IN THE MORNING it’s 3 AM and I’m 12 and I’m awake O-o I can’t sleep so I thought maybe I can learn how to meditate... ALSO I learn better at night so I thought it’s the best way
I tried it today, right after I found this video. And I'm pleasantly surprised, how quickly the 5 minutes went by. It wasn't as bad or boring as I expected. Definitely will do this daily. :D
I am depressed af right now, just broke up with my girlfriend, but still, the memories we had... I think meditation is the only option I've left before I have a mental breakdown... wish me luck people :/
I found that in addition to meditating, it is important to constantly (or at least consistently) monitor your thoughts while you are thinking, and choose positive and neutral thoughts, while eliminating negative ones.
Use headphones and listen to background noises of a campfire, waves in the ocean you get the point with high volume so you dont here people shouting or whatever it is or just listen to a meditation video
I just did it for 5 minutes, first time, right? I completely lost myself, focused on just my breathing. I was so surprised when my timer went off, it felt like such a short time! I enjoy this :)
Currently thought about meditating because I’m drowning in school work and honestly about to give up. I’ve never been so overwhelmed with school work on top of regular work and I’m just recently 21. Right now I feel like just trying to meditate to clear my head or simply just float in a pool alone and relax
I feel like im too late, to post a comment here but i hope somebody will see it and it will help them if they are considering meditation, i just had my first session (Not sure how long, lost time, i think like 5-10minutes), and its so calming, it refreshed me immediately, the guy said that you feel the benefits in a month or it depends, but to me it was immediate, before i was filled with thoughts constantly, stress and worries constantly, i was in such a angry mood today, when meditating i felt veins in my forehead (thats how stressed i was, just alot) but after meditating i feel new, i feel much calmer and with 0 Worries, and all it took waa just focusing on my breath, it sounds so stupid or just weird before i did it, but i had to do something to get myself out of the position i was pushing myself into and meditation saved me, it cleaned my angriness, my sadness, my stress, and not magically, i did it, when meditating i realized that certain thoughts had emotions (negative) behind them, and as meditating i just let go of them, doesnt matter what will happen or happened, lets live in this moment, and just relax, meditation is seriously a amazing thing, because its so simple and all you have to do is just try, just for 5Minutes, thats nothing compared to how much time we waste watching useless videos. Seriously, i highly recommend it for everyone, it gave my mind peace.
Thanks, I just meditated for the first time ever. And it was felt amazing I did what you said to do. Near the 10 min mark right as the alarm went off to tell me the time was up. I felt something crazy almost an outta body experience. Thanks so much again I’m gonna do this everyday. Glad I did 10 minutes on my first try. Can’t wait to see the results I get in a month 🧘♂️
I just meditated for the first time today. I meditated for 5 minutes. At firsts I was struggling to keep my eyes closed and to focus on my breathing. But after awhile I felt a wave of euphoria wash over me, I was truly in bliss. My only thoughts were those little breaks in between your breaths...before I knew it my timer went off. It almost felt like I was sitting there for only a minute or two. I haven’t felt this euphoric since my first hit of cannabis 4 years ago. I am going to continue to do this everyday until I reach 30 minutes.
Been meditating for almost two years now and its definitely become one of the best habits i've implemented. I'm WAAAY more calmer then i've ever been along with the benefits of increased self-motivation and discipline too!
Beginners I started normal crossed legs hand in two ok’s then breathe through ur nose then think about one color for example white think about snow or clouds or a white shirt and stick with the color it helps relax
This video helped me out a lot. I just did 5 minutes. Tried to do 10 but i stopped because it felt like someone was creeping up on me. Setting a timer definitely helped and it seemed like time flew by. Thank you soooo much!
okay...woah. i watched this video like eh wont work on me. but!!! i tried it. i sidetracked a few times but tried to focus on my breathing. for a second i was thinking about the time and then i was like no focus on breathing and then the alarm went off and the time flew by but instantly i feel sooo much better....it’s weird but i think i just found a new habit THANK YOU 🙏❤️
Thank you so much for uploading this ❤️ I've been depressed and has regular anxiety attack since last year. Also, I never had the consistency and focus to things I want to achieve. Even as simple as losing weight and exercising. I am very unhappy. And always alone since I live independently.
@Toqhaz video games is a distraction. You could either be playing video games for hours or instead be meditating, focusing on yourself, going outside in nature etc.
do y’all every have this thing when u feel intense anxiety and stress after u wake up, it’ll even wake u up hella early, and if it’s bad enough you’ll vomit . but as the day goes on it’ll pass ?
Your description of focusing on the breath to develop 'mindful awareness' is one of the best I've heard. The 'bridge' you talk about - that little pause between inhaling and exhaling - is such a subtle but profound aspect of our breathing. I think focusing on this could be a game-changer for me. It feels like looking at an old, well-known painting from a new angle and noticing details you'd never seen before.
I’ve been trying the mindfulness based meditation the past week. I’ve been doing it in bed with the light on at night and having my feet out in front of me because it’s more comfortable than sitting cross cross applesauce. I haven’t had any bad thoughts to witness without judgment yet and have mainly just focused on my breathing how it was said in this video. It’s definitely calming because I’m also belly breathing when I remember to. I’ll have to try it earlier in the day when I actually worry
That’s interesting, I came up with a very similar technique to help me quiet my mind and fall asleep. Even though I’ve done this before it’s still difficult to shut out certain thoughts, I catch my mind wandering and I have to stop myself
Meditation is one of my New Year decisions. Many told me about the benefits, so I have nothing to lose trying it. Thanks for the concise and simple explanation! Happy 2019 to everyone!
@@KiraLeslie-f3w I’m still on it. But I got a tell you that it really helps me with the stressful life I have. I hope you do or will do it. Happy 2022! 🙏
I just tried my first meditation and I do feel a bit better. I meditated for 20 minutes with only a couple of interruptions. I did it laying downs as that’s my most comfortable position.
Can't wait to try this. I've only kinda meditated when I'm high and it is the best shit ever, but I can't get high all the time lol. I need to be able to get to that state without any drugs just my own mind :)
there is a state of mind where it gets so highly focused called jhana, where people who have experienced it saying that the experience is so much better than an orgasm, or getting high. when the mind gets so attuned to the object of meditation (eg. in and out breathing), all the pain on the body disappear, people start experiencing an overwhelming sensation of happiness and joy in that state. some meditators lose track of time and do much longer period of meditation from they normally do. just saying.
The first time I tried meditating, I felt improvements soon after. My thoughts were under control and I could control my feelings :). But then at the same time, I meditated for a whole hour, so it might be different for u guys
i literally have the worst health anxiety. i know i’ll die from stress eventually & i’m running out of hope. my heart beats fast all day & i feel it in my chest & neck. when i feel fine i can’t help but to feel my pulse which triggers it all over again. if it kills me i hope it’ll do it soon, i can’t live like this

Do not set an alarm at all. It'll make you think you have a deadline of some sort. You can mediatate anywhere, anytime. Don't stress yourself over time, it's on our side, it's never our enemy.
It’s amazing how uncomfortable the first couple of minutes of mediation are. It’s so hard to do nothing, and so tempting to look how long is left on the timer and avoid being alone with your thoughts.
Chronic physical pain can make meditation challenging though. They say you're supposed to sit still, buuut that's one of my problems. 😩 Any tips would be much appreciated. Edit: It's amazing what can change in a month. I've been meditating a lot since I posted this comment. It definitely calms the mind and body.
I wasnt gonna watch at 1st because I saw 5 mins. But, (thanks to my recent journey with meditation) I decided to be patient and I'm glad I watched. You were to the point and practical. I will remember these suggestions
lovely baddie i try to just do a mini excercise before so i atttempt to waste that excess energy. Jumping jacks help me alot cause my full body moves, or marching in place.
For anyone who has been meditating for a long period of time; What benefits have you noticed in your time of meditation? How long do you go for a day? When did you start noticing these benefits? (And if you have ADHD) have you noticed yourself being more focused and getting less distracted? I just started today and it felt great!
As someone who supposedly has ADHD, but not yet diagnosed, it has greatly helped me to focus and I've only just had my first 5-minute meditation session. It's such an amazing feeling!
I began meditating in 1996. Only remnants of my adhd remain; it comes up, you notice it, and can move beyond it fairly easily through mindfulness, or walking meditation. Over time certain awareness occur that seem scary at first, but it’s just the ego being filtered out. Be peaceful and continue. It’s a practice that leads to a more natural understanding of existence.
Important points to note. 1) focus between the points between your . 2)Take deep and slow breaths. Don't take very fast breaths. 3) ideal time for any yoga practice is at the time of sunrise ,sunset and at middle of night 12am. 4) keep your spine properly erected. 5) don't set alarms do it till the moment you want to do it. Instead start a stop watch to record your progress.
The fact that the sound of our own breath makes us feel calm is a gift from nature.
Beautifully said.

I feel the same
@@thevoid6674 yeah! It does that! :D

How is your meditation now?
First time I meditated, I felt like I was getting pulled and stretched from the wall, like something was pulling every piece of skin on me to the wall. It felt pretty wild.
I am blazing it this year! It could be meditation, cold showers or NoFap or all combined but I'm just so energetic! I'm 15 and I meditate 20 minutes a day. Done it for 7 months.
Great man! , im trying all of it too
do you think a nofap cheatday is okay? :D
cheatdays don't work :)
that combination is the best you could apply in your life. put exercise/working out in that mix and you're ready to success.
Nofap cheatday ahahahahaahah
After almost a year of meditating one hour everyday, I've learned:
*Meditation is the best way to stop an addiction. Which brings me to the next point on productivity:
*You can't focus if you think about your addictions all the time.
How did the retreat go?
Typical "I'll do something and then share the experience" UA-cam comment. They NEVER finish it...
ORGANIC PIANO powerful words. Thank you for that.
How did the retreat go sir?
maybe still at the retreat?!
I’m proud of the people improving their lives. Keep it up! 💙
Thank you

1. I feel my leg broken
2. I felt peaceful
You meditate for atleast 13 hours a day, the type of meditation is called thinking, contemplating.
Sry,for your leg lol
@@gopeshnaicker8575 woah, that’s cool to think about
I can see you are screaming
Perks of usually sitting on the chair
I meditate lying down in bed after waking up. Sitting cross-legged makes MY LEGS fall asleep lol
Lol if i laid still in bed for longer than 30 seconds after waking up, I fall right back asleep
i reccomend sitting down on a chair or sitting down in an elevated position on the floor
I sit up in my bed, I can’t on the floor
😂😂🤣🤣🤣lol
Nupeee- you gotta sit cross legged :O but at that point of legs falling asleep-- that's already crossing into buddtist meditation,
Yes I agree with what the person in the video has said but the most recommended (my mother side are all monks, and my mother has said that everything around u are distractions, including your body heat) so before meditation, ♡ wear light loose clothing, have your hair tied and nothing should be touching you ♡
**your entire body should be relaxed, yes u can slouch but not to a point where u should be feeling pain- nope**
▪︎ put a folded t shirt on your lap and put your hands on it, make sure your hands dont touch each other and fingers too
▪︎ make sure you arent meditating on your bed but on a mattress or a comfortable place, not a floor because it's hard-- remember, my mother (also becoming monk) foresaw all the issues and distractions ppl might have so she highly suggests for everyone to breathe easily in a meditation position first, no phones, no nothing, just you and your breath... then once a few mins have passed and you are more relaxed and ready for meditation. Start it ♡♡♡
Start breathing in and out of your nose abit forcefully in a pattern, not too slow, not too fast, but a little fast ♡ loudly so u can hear your breathing- focus your mind and focus on your nostrils- like they are the gate or door to a house, (know when the cold air comes in- do ur best to not miss it! Every breath coming in, only IN because only when you have practiced meditation to a point where you dont miss any INs, then start knowing when air goes out of your nose as well ♡♡♡ REMEMBER dont follow the air going into your lungs, there shouldn't be enough time for that, and only your stomach should be moving- your whole body should be still and relaxed and down ♡♡ your face, shoulders, body, legs, fingers, toes- no tension should be present ♡♡♡
Eyes must be closed because people get distracted easily- yes know when your thoughts come into your mind, then refocus back onto your nose ♡♡♡ ignore anything that is around you, nothing exist except for your breath ♡♡♡ your house, your room, your family, friends, phone, your body, the floor nothing exist at the moment except for your breathing ♡♡♡
Hope this helped!

Running led me to a deep place so medidate so that u can actually feel what isnt going right with u and feel that emotion ( which will leed you to feeling great and confident trust me)
Wonderful advise Manuel
be aware and feel all anxiety symptoms physically and mentally to habituate to what you fear. habituate and building tolerance against that fear is the best way. dont run away.
What if you have too much emotions and maybe you wana put some away? Would meditation help?

Your description of focusing on the breath to develop 'mindful awareness' is one of the best I've heard. The 'bridge' you talk about - that little pause between inhaling and exhaling - is such a subtle but profound aspect of our breathing. I think focusing on this could be a game-changer for me. there is a state of mind where it gets so highly focused called jhana, where people who have experienced it saying that the experience is so much better than an orgasm, or getting high. when the mind gets so attuned to the object of meditation (eg. in and out breathing), all the pain on the body disappear, people start experiencing an overwhelming sensation of happiness and joy in that state. some meditators lose track of time and do much longer period of meditation from they normally do. just saying.

For anyone who has been meditating for a long period of time;
What benefits have you noticed in your time of meditation?
