Fun fact, The 1981 Baltimore Colts still own The all time record in defensive points allowed for a season with 533.

As a native Texan, I remember Colt's RB, Curtis Dickey, when he was a star running back @ Texas A&M, but his track accomplishments were even more significant. At 6'1, 205lbs, he was a 3-time NCAA indoor 60 yd dash champion and finished second in the 1979 NCAA 100-meter finals. He was the Colts' no. 1 pick, 5th overall, in the 1980 draft. As talented as he was, he was just as injury prone which hampered his career.

Amazing to see this old broadcast from '81. Particularly so much foreshadowing from Theismann. Definitely saw plays/actions which brought back memories of Kim Bokamper (SB XVII) and Jack Squirek (SB XVIII).

The beginning of the redskins under Gibbs being a perennial super bowl contender year in and year out I'm 57 a Washington fan for 50 years art monk was the skins #1 draft pick out of Syracuse the beginning of greatness great great memories

The Gibbs era Redskins were a true dynasty 1982-1991 in my book.
      Spanning 4 QBs
      -Theisman
      -Schroeder
      -Williams
      -Rypien
Art Monk was a top 3 1980s receiver along with Rice and Largent.
Monk seemed to consistently pull in balls along the sideline with only 2-3 inches to spare as well as being fearless over the middle.
The Hogs🐽, the Smurfs, the Fun Bunch... Diesel Riggins, Dexter Manley...
The Redskins were not only winners, but they had more character than any other team.

Hard to believe this game would be final time the Baltimore Colts would travel to Washington before moving to Indy. 14 years later, albeit in the "RalJon" section of Landover in the Maryland suburbs, the Ravens played down here for the first time.

@@johnliberty3647 I'm 72 and watched the game live that night. If I'm not mistaken he ran a kick back for a TD, on an option play threw a TD pass and ran one in for a TD. There may be more, not sure. Living in the Baltimore suburbs I was a Colt fan and JW was very popular.

When the Redskins were winning strong after the 81 season, you knew deep down that they were going to be a good team in 82 and even after the strike the Redskins would be a good team and knew how to win close games.

16:40. Refs instantly rule down by contact. These days it would be 5 minutes of replays and they would've called it incomplete.

This is one of the rare games that was performed at Boom-Boom Stadium in The Pallasaides. The Skins would play at Boom-Boom if RFK wasn't available. In this case, there had been a Rolling Stones concert at RFK the night before. The concert was expected to last two hours, but it stretched out to almost ten. People were defecating and vomiting all over the place and several seats were stolen. The stadium officials were shocked to find the field a total mudhole in spite of there not having been any rain for several weeks. It turned out not to be mud. The game was hastily moved. Boom-Boom Stadium was stolen in 1982 and was never recovered. There is a State Farm regional office building and a Harmony Hamburger restaurant there now.

Getting to watch these games from the 70's, 80's, 90's and other years is the BEST REASON TO WATCH YOU TUBE! Football now? I'm sorry but it's nauseating to watch. EVERY PLAY someone is celebrating for something? Whether it's a sack, maybe an interception, or JUST A NORMAL TACKLE! Someone is dancing, acting like a fool over ONE PLAY? WHY? I've seen players who have been BURNED for multiple plays, long passes for touchdowns, even missed tackles. THEN they get either a tipped pass, or they actually do their JOBS and they start celebrating? WITH for? Here's an idea, SPEND SOME TIME LEARNING HOW TO PLAY THE GAME AND LESS ON HOW TO CELEBRATE AND DANCE! Again I'm sorry but it's getting sickening to watch nowadays. I remember when the NFL would penalize players for excessive celebrations. They were called the No-Fun-League...NFL. But back then celebrating was not done. For a touchdown yes. Or a interception, mayb? But for a normal tackle or a blocked or tipped pass? Seriously? Football in the 70's and 80's was the best era for all sports actually. The NFL, MLB, NHL, and NBA all were fun to watch! Plus the Broadcasts were by far 1,000% better! Monday Night🌙 🏈🏉Football🏉🏈 was the absolute BEST in the 70's and early 80's. The Half-Time Highlights were the BEST PART of the show for me anyways. I never got to see many different games. With just 2 networks, and blackout rules we'd sometimes get just one game if the other network was playing alongside of your home team's game. That's ANOTHER REASON why these videos are some great to have. AND the memories they bring back! Growing up in the 70's and early 80's was as I said the best time for sports, AND the best time for kids too! The announce team of Howard Cosell, Dandy Don Meredith, Frank Gifford, and various others, like Sir Francis Tarkenton(as Howie called him!), Alex Karras, and more. They were epic. On Sundays we had the NFL Today with Brent Musberger, Irv Cross, Jimmy the Greek, and OMG Jayne Kennedy!😳😯😲😍🤪😲👌😲 😲👌👏😍👍🥰☺ Also Pat Summerall was also amazing, and later teaming with John Madden became one of the greatest broadcasting duos EVER! These were absolutely incredible and amazing times for sports fans! Now? It's a wonderful chance to relive some of the most iconic and exciting games you'll EVER SEE! THANK YOU.
