    I can completely relate to this situation as for the past 16 months I have been lucky enough to have this system in place with a pair of Amphion Argon 2 main speakers and a 6 stack of S-510 Rel Subs in a relatively large room. To say the change is subtle is an understatement, I started off with a stereo pair and added the other 4 subs a couple of months later after a 6 stack demo. 12+ months on the system never ceases to amaze with little adjustments and upgrades along the way as the subs now sit on custom bases that made even greater bottom end clarity with the system overall. I have found that over the time these have been in my system that very small adjustments in sub settings make large differences, I am skeptical by nature but this is a very big step forward and the Blueline cables (I bought the complete set) also make a marked difference. I listen a lot and this upgrade has given me the most listening pleasure of any recent system upgrade and playing my X45 Pro streamer with HD files on ROON just confirms that in my system No Snake Oil here just a great deal of listening pleasure.

    That was a GREAT interview! Very insightful questions which John recognized immediately. The longer I listen to John, the deeper my respect for his understanding and articulation of the benefits of adding natural full-range bass. As a lifelong hi-fi enthusiast, physicist and high-tech engineering project manager, John made total sense to me. Now I need to see part 2! I'm considering a pair of S/510s.

    I can see why this setup works. It's more about the soundstage than having 6 subs blowing your brains out. I'm about to play around with this setup.

    One year later, you got to hear the REL 3D that John Hunter mentioned in this video. Nice thread of continuity

    When it comes to the Subwoofer Argument/Choice, whether you are for or against them (each person hears music differently, different taste, opinions, etc) - *HOWEVER, ANY TRUE AUDIOPHILE Should/Will Recognize JOHN HUNTER as an ABSOLUTE LOUDSPEAKER GENIUS❕ John has Changed & Revolutionized the Loudspeaker and Subwoofer Component Industry for decades to come. Bottom Line, Hunter is a Genius and Pioneer when it comes to REL Subwoofers. He may have not built the world's first subwoofer, but the as long as he heads up engineering at REL Acoustics I don't think I would want to be in the Subwoofer building Relem! His work will be studied for decades and centuries to come. 🔊Please hear it before you judge it! Nobody will build a Subwoofer at the unbelievable $500 price point! He and his team has spent more than 50 Hrs creating the Logo Plate on it (❗VALUE❗)

    I'm mostly been using Velodyne DD18+, 1812 and svs sb16. I use them for 2 channel music only. Besides all the talk what do you think make Rel so special?? I have been tempted but I've not had the chance to demo Rel subs, my local dealers are shite and they never seem to have anything in stock.

      Hi William, maybe check with REL when they are touring doing demos and get down to one of the dealers for this type of demo, you will likely find part 2 of this series useful if you trust in the video quality for its audio quality and watch it using a good playback system ;)

      @@PursuitPerfectSystem My problem is finding the right subs for my room and system. I was only able to listen to a single s/510 , I can only find single subs on demo in the all of the hifi dealers here in Sweden. Have to say just that single S/510 got my attention like no other sub.

    "everything you experience in real life is full range"

    • @PursuitPerfectSystem
      @PursuitPerfectSystem  4 роки тому

      It is when you think about it as the sound is not being made by a speaker which has a frequency limit it can create

    • @rsa008
      @rsa008 4 роки тому

      @@PursuitPerfectSystem I completely agree. However, even though real life is full range, some people experience hearing loss in the higher frequency. I recently talked to a guy with a hearing aid because of frequency-loss at about 11 khz. He tried a lot of different speakers, and landed on the KEF R3 because of it's strong performance in higher frequencies.

    • @PursuitPerfectSystem
      @PursuitPerfectSystem  4 роки тому

      @@rsa008 what's crazy about that is KEF roll off the treble compared to most other speaker manufacturers when you measure them. They prefer an ultra smooth frequency response that rolls off in the treble so that is not what the chap is likely hearing as his preference he is hearing how smooth they deliver their sound :)

    • @rsa008
      @rsa008 4 роки тому

      @@PursuitPerfectSystem Ah, ok! I didn't know. I thought the KEFs were more forward sounding because they had more treble, but life's not that simple. He used to have the Buchardt S400, and he had to turn them up so loud that his neighbors would complain to get the sound he wanted.

    • @PursuitPerfectSystem
      @PursuitPerfectSystem  4 роки тому +1

      why is that bullshit - there was air conditioning unit running in the room - its behind the right speaker and sub stack - there is a tall banner in front of it but if you look to the left of the banner on the floor you should be able to see it in some of the shots. I have recorded the sound in hundreds of rooms at hifi shows - why would this one be bullshit?

    • @PursuitPerfectSystem
      @PursuitPerfectSystem  4 роки тому

      Hahaha I have just checked and you can even see the banner blowing from the air from the air con unit in the first few seconds of the video - dont take this the wrong way but OPEN your EYES before you start making unfounded accusations against a man who works his ass off to bring you videos like this with really high quality video and sound. Thank you
