Hey I own this subwoofer and I absolutely love it the best sounding subwoofer I have ever heard in my life I has subwoofers for as much as $4000 but this is my favourite one thing was wondering I noticed the light on the back never turns off which means I think the subwoofer never goes on sleep when it's not in use does it mean I have to turn it on and off every time or can it be left like that please help me with this thank you.

I have a pair of REL 528se subs, getting old now but once tuned in properly to your main speakers it makes a huge difference, especially to the midrange! Subs do very little work (55hz to about 20hz in mine) in a music system but I wouldn't be without them!

barely have to integrate a sub that's too weak to excite first modes. REL uses bullshit like "in room frequency response" which is literally a meaningless number.
REL is 90% marketing, 10% speaker design, and all of it is outdated design.

Hi its the first video i have seen from you. Because i am on the market for a subwoofer for my 2 channel system i was searching for Rel subs on youtube. I really had my doubts if a tx5 subwoofer would be enough for my audiovector floorstanders. But after seeing your video you convinced me its enough and its a really nice subwoofer and big enough for my mid sized room. So thank you for your video keep up the good work. I subbed and liked ofcourse. Greetings from the Netherlands. 👍🏻

Great review. I like the short comments by Tujan on T7x vs T5i, I've never own a REL so it's good to know that a higher model could offer more grunt, yes and Jay mentioned tasteful grant. That adds a lot of context to what a good subwoofer could do than merely 30% increase in price and wonder if I should go for T5i or T5x or T7x...Also I find it useful to know if I'm a home theater guy, why should i pay more for a good music subwoofer. To know the quality of good bass extension that adds more bass details, fuller midrange and smoother high frequencies...and I didn't know the HPF adds delay which REL makes it short enough, compare to competitors, so that it becomes easier to integrate with main speakers. Good to know. I'm proud to be a patreon and to support the on going work to provide more useful information to the audio community and help improve tuning my system. :)

I built a pair of the CSS Criton 1TDXs based on your review of the base model Criton. I have a Denafrips Ares 2 connected to a Rogue Sphinx V3. I listen to a lot of fast paced music such as Japanese hardcore and D-Beat. The Critons definately keep up with the speed of the bass. In my room the bass is pretty good but just missing that very bottom end. I need a subwoofer that can keep up the speed and fill out the bottom end. It would be awesome to have a T5 X to compliment the Critons. Tightening my belt and eating ramen saving for one. If I happen to win, my stomach will thank you. Thank you for all the advice on gear over the years. The Ares 2 and CSS Critons have changed my life

I currently have a pair of ELAC Uni-FI UB5's (the original Uni-fi's) and although I think they have decent bass I think adding a sub would give me a fuller and more dynamic sound. I've always heard that REL's are the Creme de La Creme of Sub's and are so musical. Adding a T/5X which I've had my eye on would definitely make my music listening that much more enjoyable.

Jay I think the connections are called XLR they are balanced inputs that carries two positive inputs opposed to one from RCA. Positive is that it cancles out distortion for a cleaner sound. Can can only imagine how beautiful it sounds. Proper Bass extensions raises the quality of your music who says otherwise is missing out on something.

These subs look like they will be amazing. I've been interested in rel subs for a few years now but I haven't had the opportunity to get or even listen to one in my area. I've been building my system for the last few years and the last piece of the system is a sub. I still don't have one yet but it's my goal. I was planning on trying to find a used one last spring with some money I had saved up but then work got slow and other priorities happened. Hopefully I'll find a way to get one in the future. I will have it paired with a pair of focal 1038 speakers. I borrowed a friend's jbl ht sub and I was amazed at how much more full the bottom end was and also the midrange. It was like I had a totally different speaker. It made me feel like I wanted to get a rel from all the good things that I have read about them. Someone is going to get a great sub to make their system improve immensely. Good luck everyone.

Also in an 7.2 AV receiver ( Marantz ), how do you wil conect the same two subs to te AV receiver for listening in 2 channel stereo mode but with the subs playing the low frequencies.

Jay, enjoyed your video. I hope you can help clear some myth in my mind about subs.. the T7x is front firing with a passive below whereas the T5x is just down firing... is there a discernible sonic difference between the two in an average room(sort of like your setup) at the same volume level specially if I only want to augment a GR research XLS encore stand mount speakers for two channel listening only. My ultimate setup would be two subs , but initially I'll start with one sub.. just want to know if its worth stretching my initial budget to go from the T5x to a T7x?

Love your vids Jay. The REL would be a beautiful match with my Lumina IIIs. I have a neighbour who likes making noise very early in the mornings. I need some thunder to get some pay back.

Nice review! I understand how hard it is to gush about a product you like without coming across like a shill. I'm hoping to pair this with my Vanatoo T0s for nearfield listening.

I just recently found your channel and like that you are not just reviewing speakers, but also teaching your audience. My audio setup for my PC is lacking (Bose Companion 2 Series III) and I'm torn if I should buy quality headphones or speakers and a sub. If I were to win this sub, then I would buy speakers for sure - which kind, not sure; perhaps a recommendation from one of your videos.

After seeing your review, I decided that I wanted to buy Magnepan LRS. I think that REL subwoofer will be the perfect complement.

I'm planning on getting a sub. I've seen a few YTs on the different manufacturers. Still narrowing it down to which one would be the better fit for me.

Hi from Latvia, love your videos, a lot of knowledge about Hi Fi Gear I Learned from here. My first setup is Klipsch RP-600M Bookshelfs, I love mids and highs in those speakers, but its lacking base. So I would Love to pair them with REL. Keep up with great content.

Nice informative Video Jay. I personally would pair this REL with my Dynaudio Evoke 20’s in piano gloss. The REL has the same finish. But more importantly I believe the two would be a match made in heaven. Also I’m using the Hegel H90 amp.

Hi Jay, I just purchased the HECO Aurora 700 tower speakers. Looking at adding a REL Subwoofer by next month. Is the T5X or T7X a better fit for a mid-sized space?

Thank Jay for the great review. I also like the fit and finish of the Rel subs and they look so premium in the room. I have Spotify on Volumio on a raspberry pi going into the Topping D70s then into the Musical Paradise MP-301 then into the Elac Debut Reference. The Rel T5/x is the sub I’ve had my eyes and would LOVE to have it complete the system. Thanks!

Right now I'm breaking in a pair of dynaudio evoke 20 speakers. I'm get better bass than I had before, but I don't quite get the bottom-end punch I'd like. (I listen to classical music and jazz. That includes pipe organ music (Bach, mostly), but honestly I don't think you need to hear down to 16 hz to appreciate organ music.) I've been thinking about getting a subwoofer. I've heard that a subwoofer can help you to hear the space where the music was recorded. Thanks for the review.

Would you recommend these REL subs over a SVS 3000micro for a 2.1 music setup or for light use in a living room 5.1 surround system?

    • @seano218
      @seano218 2 роки тому

Tx7 for music, HT1205 for movies and music. Look up GR Research and see the quality (or lack) of the components used in SVS which explains why they are muddy compared to a REL. But, if you want bass that rattles your home, go SVS... if you want quality, REL.

Hi Jay, I have a Hegel H120 and paired with Vienna Acoutics Hayden standmount speakers. The speakers are front ported and the bass does not go deep enough for my preference. I am planning to add a sub in my system or buy another pair of speakers with deeper punchy bass like Dynaudio. This REL T/5X will certainly blend in with my system.

Grasshoppers, I have B&W 802D2 with pair of REL Strata 3 (original owner and still working great). I love the Stratas as it’s acoustic design and is fast. If I were to replace the Startas will the new T9x be better than the Stratas or do I have to go up to S/510 or S/812? I am mostly 2 channel guy with occasional film.

    I love my 2 Rel’s,
Old school I must say but they are the beautiful Rel Stadium 2
They dig deep n fill the mids nicely and boy you feel them even at low volumes
I also love my other old school Rel’s
The Q 100 , which are looking ugly but are running fine
    Beautiful sonic beasts
All I can say , get you a pair , you will never ever regret it , bigger the better as totally tuneable to your system

Love the channel. Was already a subscriber. I need this sub! I’ve obsessively built copies of a rare Western Electric speaker (757a) and while they have a sublime midrange, they don’t have a lot of bass so a sub is needed. The REL T5X seems to have the fast and agile bass would pair well with these speakers.

I am looking for a subwoofer for my Falcon LS3/5a Gold Badge. Due to the notorious mid-bass hump of the LS3/5a, integration is rather difficult. I am listening nearfield (1-1.2m) and at low-mid sound levels. My room is around 15sqm. The subs I have in mind are either one T5x or two Tzero. Or alternatively one SVS 3000 micro, because it has that flexible app, that may offer an easier integration than the REL. I am all in about quality, not quantity of the bass. Thoughts about what I should choose?
