The Best Destiny 2 Keybinds For Mouse and Keyboard (PC)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 29 лют 2020
- Setting up your keybinds is one of the most important steps when moving to Mouse and Keyboard on Destiny 2 PC. Choosing the right keybinds early can shave off a significant amount of difficulty when learning how to play on PC. These are the keybinds I've found to be most helpful after a few years of playing Destiny 2.

this is my first day on m&k after playing with a paddle for 15 years. i feel like such a noob on destiny 🥲 i know what i want to be doing but
1: muscle memory isn’t there
2: my aim on this thing is REAL bad
3: everyone here is uber sweaty 🥵
felt
use an aim trainer for aim. Practice daily to gain the muscle memory. Like all things practice makes perfect. Don't get to bent out of shape when something doesn't work the way to want it to. You'll learn to adapt and overcome
I’d be keen to see a revised binding, since the implementation of the charged and uncharged melee option
agreed!
What even is that?
Yes. This.
I'm fairly new to Destiny, so I didn't realize this was a new feature and was wondering why he didn't mention it. I found separating the 2 to be necessary for consistent gameplay of certain builds such as the Titan sun-hammer.
I personally put the charged melee on mouse wheel click, though I don't know if that's ideal.
seconded, especially 2 years later now that we have even more custom binding options. I wanna know what people bind emote to for GG runs to get max points in the nightfall. It's a pain taking my hand off my mouse to hit an arrow key, and very difficult to do with my left hand glued to WASD. Maybe 4, 5, 6, 7?
Actually, I guess I only need to make a secondary bind for one emote in this case...
I just made the switch to pc from ps4 a month ago and I'm still struggling to adapt to the keyboard so I looked up best keybinds for D2 and this is the first thing that popped up. I'm gonna try it tonight and see how it goes!
I've just been 1 hour into D2 after 4 years on PS4. Man this is going to be struggle
@Aiden Phoenix it is much better now. I'm glad I stuck on to m&k. I in fact went back to controller for half a game but it just seemed so weird with the aim, that I immediately switched back to m&k. I'm doing better now. Aiming is on point. However I wish I switch weapons and move around more Agile but I think that'll also come with time. I play warlock and crucible mostly
@Aiden Phoenix the problem with scroll wheel is that you could scroll too much right?
This is what I do and it works really well for me. Map switch weapons to scroll up. Switch weapons only swaps between your primary and secondary. Then, map your heavy to scroll down. I use the press scroll for my class ability because I play hunter and like to have all fingers on WASD for my dodge. But that's up to you. If you don't play hunter then do what he says in the video and map primary to scroll up, secondary to scroll down, and heavy to press scroll.

Being a Destiny 1/2 Veteran (on console) I have recently made the switch to PC. I found your videos really informative and they have really helped me optimise my settings/key binds and I can already see a massive difference in my gameplay. Subscribed!
it's been 4 years, how's the progress?
That clip in the beginning is that match we played together lol
Does anyone know how to shoot multiple shadow shots?
@@ilovemen671 its the bottom tree tether on the super menu, the top tree only gives you 1 shot where as the bottom tree gives you 6 shots.
@@FiSH_the ohhhhh ok thx. Also I have a question, in most tier list videos the bottom tree is always lower than the top tree. I thought six shots were better than one
@@ilovemen671 while this is true, the one that has only 1 shot has wayyy better range to connect to enemies and can connect more, also when you kill enemies while they are tethered it increases the duration and also the top tree tether makes way more orbs of power
@@FiSH_the ok thx I started this game two days ago
I personally have a weak pinky finger and for sprinting I do use toggle sprint with shift so I don't have to hold on to it and for crouch I have it toggle on ctrl and hold on c in most games (generally use toggle to sneak and hold to slide, but ofc these possibilities vary between different games)
Pattycakes: Maybe we Hunters and Titans will get an In air move someday.
Everyone Now: Why...
Imma going to trying this tonight my first time doing mouse and keyboard so I pray I can get it down I do love my controller but I wanna try something new so thank u so much for this
Not a super new player, but a player that has just came back in time for Final Shape. I agree with your methodology of keeping it across multiple games. Also, I did like how you changed some things so I did this and I'm excited to see my die alot till I retrain my fingers! Thanks for the help!
Glad it helped!
I've been playing Destiny since House of Wolves, and mouse and keyboard since D2 launched on PC. I'm an experienced player, but I mostly avoided more competitive pvp modes. I've always been ok in crucible, often in the top 3 on the scoreboard, but when it comes to survival and trials I just get thrashed more often than not. I've been going through your videos recently and trying to put the advice into practice, and I think it's actually helping. I just remapped my keys today and although it was a rough transition I did notice an immediate improvement.....As long as I can remember my dawnblade super controls....
Anyway, just wanted to say I really appreciate all the work you've put in to help players like me 😊
Hey that’s awesome! Love hearing things like this :)
useful tip that I've changed recently. I find that using alt as a crouch button works the best for me. it may sound weird at first, but it's due to your thumb being right next to it at home base on the space bar. I usually assign control as my prone, walk or autorun just because it makes sense to keep walking movements all in my pinky range and anything extremely tactiful on my thumb button. BUT, if you have any key more important than crouch in a game, such as dash or roll in star wars battlefront 2, keep that as your alt keybind as you'll want to use the alt keybind just as much as you will use your jump, if not more.
Even though this video is a year old, just getting back into destiny I had no idea how limiting the default binds actually are, cool stuff. I actually like your binds a lot.
I've been playing Destiny on console since beta. Recently my brother let me use his old MSI laptop and using a keyboard and mouse is a whole new world to me. I feel like I'm going to be changing keybinds for a while until I get it right. After watching this video, I'm going to change my grenade and interact keys.
Most people forgot that there's 1 key that really easy for the pinkie and never utilize on games.
The caps lock key.
I use caps lock and E for for action
Alt for dodge (I'm relatively new and only using hunter so far)
Scroll up kinetic, scroll down energy
And some Logitech mouse combination for melee and finisher (forgot what's it called)
Use mouse 4 for melee before but I got killed in Siege because it cancel my shooting so I learned my lesson.
Love this video BTW ♥️
Thanks!
You're awesome Pattycakes, always doing what you can to help out the players. I appreciate what you do my man!
As a new light player that only started about 3 months ago I can say this information is something I will definitely take, tbh I didn't pay that much attention to my keybinds and just played as it was, which did lead to me scrolling past my intended weapon on some occasions causing a death for example, but everything said sounds like gold and I was about to try using another class so it'll be a perfect time to reinvent how I've been playing.
Glad it’s helpful for you :)
Thanks for the video!:3 I’m a left handed player but I mostly played on PS4 so transferring to mouse and keyboard is difficult. However, your suggestions for the bindings are super useful and I will definitely make use of them!thank you!😃
Got a gaming laptop today and have never played any games on pc. I knew my key binds were trash but I didn't know what would be better. Thanks patty
I didn't know that you could use the forward mouse button as a bind in Destiny 2, thank you so much!
Subscribed! As a PS4 player converted to PC, I find your videos to be super helpful.
thanks man, switched over a week ago and have been feeling weird with the keybindings as im used to more simple fps games with less abilities that you need to have accessible
3 thumb buttons on your mouse helps if you have a stiff left pinkie 😁. Slide with 3rd mouse button.
Razer Basilisk or Logitech 502 for example.
Ive been having trouble looking for a comfortable MnK setup to play Destiny 2, you my friend scored it. thanks 10/10
I recommend binding the class ability to a mouse button or alt for hunters. This lets you sprint, crouch, dodge and strafe completely independently of each other.
That's a good bind, I really liked having it on scroll up actually but my old mouse would occasionally register a mouse scroll when I didn't even touch it, so I had to switch off of it and the rest of my mouse buttons are accounted for already. I may try it again in the future
@@PattycakesGaming I personally use alt for hold crouch, Lctrl for toggle crouch and mouse 5 for dodge. I'm a really big fan of the mouse up for air dodge since it lets you scroll down then up to dash as warlock instantly.
I have the same melee and get nade binds and it’s so nice
I love having them on the mouse
I have been trying to learn how to play m and k but it feels like I'm trying how to learn to walk and talk again. Great video
this was an excellent video and i especially enjoyed the portions where you mention that we are all different in our gameplay so that determines how we bind our keys. thats amazing
Was just seeing how close my binds where to yours I just switched to pc yesterday and I used the cross save feature. Did most of my training with the cod mw ability to use mnk. As I’m the opposite to you and been using a controllers for 20+ years and I haven’t been a person to even use a computer for much just basic tasks back in school.
Patty cakes deserves a metal for the most helpful UA-camr
I use c for melee, v for grenade, back side mouse button for class AB, front side mouse button is my change weapon. Jump on scroll down and spacebar, scroll up for icarus dash thing. I use hold crouch
I've been playing destiny 2 on my PS4 for like two years now and finally building my first PC. can't wait to get destiny going on it. this video helped a ton man thank you!
Awesome!
First of all: I really appreciate your time and effort to show us a better way to use those keys. Thank you.
The other thing i bind my grenade for Q and melee for E and i see those players that uses middle tree nightstalker hunter that throws those 2 nades ultra faster. How can they do that? I mean my frames are 110 fps and no luck.
You need to throw smoke first then nade next and you can do it very quickly
Thanks bruh this video helped out a lot. I just built a pc this year and I've been struggling lol I've been on controller for so long
Just subscribed! Thanks for this great video. I am tired of the controller bugging out on me so I am going to switch to keyboard.
Thanks!
I've been playing these games as long as they have made them. The first video games were nintendo games and break out, then the war craft games and wing commander. almost 45 years of gaming. All the bethesda games and all kinds of shooters. Still playing at age 65.
Awesome!
Fantastic upload Patty. Really great stuff dude.
Thanks bud!!
This video really helped me as I just swtiched to a gaming computer and started playing destiny again. I was really struggling with keybinds and had no clue how to optimize. I used what you recommended and will practice and switch up if needed on any of them after a while. Just subscribed!
Glad it was helpful!
I recently switched to PC after being console only since 1984 and your videos have made my transition way smoother than expected. Thank! You!
From the boomer!

Awesome! Happy to hear that :)
I’ve never watched anyone’s keybind vid and play Destiny on MnK for over a year now. Along the way of learning swapping binds around untill everything was perfect. Funny enough our binds are near identical. Great vid!
Haha thats funny!
Hey brotha love what you do, love the keybinds, it was funny when you said "for a very long time" LOL, ive been playing since the beginning and doom, rise of the triad, quake etc. and honestly. when the younger crowd started shifting to WASD (which took quite a few years to happen) i was like what? Us FPS old schoolers in the past actually learned typing in our schools, so our hands are designed to fit on ESDF with the bump on the F key allowing you to find the key faster. also it gave all access to more keys to the left of your hand and was designed for your fingers to reach 1, 2, 3 ergonomically corect! Just purchased a new G15 laptop and noticed the bump has now been added to the key for gamers wow... anyway love your vids, and as a typer and as one of the first to play FPS my hands are still on the correct positions. Of course every game i buy now has WASD as default... just imagine... move your hand over one key where its supposed to be and presto you open up even more options to the left of your hand!!! Great vid and thx!
So helpful thanks a ton! About to start new character with my friend, she’s totally new to Destiny and I’m new to m&k so this is a lifesaver. Love the channel!
I discovered you through UA-cam algorithm since I primarily only watch Datto and a tiny bit of Aztecross, But I appreciate your how-to guides and personality. I've been adjusting my mouse sensitivity since I saw your video the other and it's takes some getting used to. I've normally been bad/mediocre at PvP and tend to way overmove/overaim everything and nearly always miss shotgun shots (!) and get a crazy adrenaline rush when I activate my super. In any case, I haven't done any major PvP besides Gambit, but I do feel smoother overall as I adjust to mouse movement.
Okay.
Starting right now.
Lifetime controller players.
Tired of getting bagged.
Switching to M/KB
I will crawl to the bottom to rise to the top.
Teach me!
You got this! :)
I tried but it started dropping my kd , so I use a controller on pc , I know the skillcaps are different but as an extremely good (if I do say so myself) controller player , I can keep up with casual-semi try hard easily in trials and other sweaty modes on controller on pc , however I won’t be able to get any better most likely , I still uphold a 1.5Kd on pc with controller and have gone flawless as well as my spare rations gameplay , even on controller , being immaculate , personally , I don’t think the change is necessary if your willing to put in the time on controller or you are already an extremely competent controller player , I ranked top 10% for a few seasons I played before the switch so I guess you could confirm I am good
@@PattycakesGaming I don't got this, I have been trying for months.
@@Svabby What issues do you have with it?
@@PattycakesGaming thanks for the reply! I seem to always miss my shotgun shots even though they look like they should have hit and have trouble with aim/targeting the enemy. I really wanna get better at pc because 60fps feels so much better than 30fps and I can't go back lol.
I moved from Xbox to gaming laptop. Mouse and Keyboard was killing me. I wasn't ever great, but still. I saw your video regarding mouse and keyboard settings, and you really helped me a lot. Thank you! Subbed since. I want to become a somewhat decent player, and trying to become good again... if I every was...
Awesome! Glad you found it helpful
Awesome video man! I'm trying to get back in to Destiny and for the 1st time on PC so there's a lot of new hurdles. This was very helpful to watch thanks.
This was very helpful! I ended up setting these binds as my own binds and it became for helpful from going to Xbox to pc
Appreciate this. Just started playing on pc FPS and it’s a whole new thing lol
Like you I grew up playing counterstrike on all the standard keybinds. So, Q for weapon swap, if I’m not mistaken E was also a weapon swap default. Ctrl for crouch, and obviously if you didn’t know how to bunnyhop with mouse wheel things weren’t much fun for you lol
seeing you talk about that and refer to CS brought back memories for me.
Problem is, I haven’t touched pc gaming since my childhood. I wanna say last I ever did that was 14 years old, thats 14 years ago.
And back then the mice didn’t look as tanky as they are now with loaded buttons all around. So mouse 5 and whatnot makes me scratch my head in confusion. But I wanna get into M&KB so I’m searching for the ideal beginner setup to get back into it.
I just use a standard mouse with 5 buttons (incl scroll wheel click). Good luck getting back into it :)
CAPSLOCK for dodge is great, you can hover your pinky over it at all times when not sprinting. Keep ur thumb over ALT for crouching. Much easier than the traditional CTRL. Also fixes the dodging right problem
Watching this video definitely helped me eased into the Mouse and Keyboard after using a controller since I started gaming. One thing that I am not so good at is muscle memory it's like I keep forgetting the bindings sometimes but this set up is definitely the most comfortable to use. I highly recommend it. Thanks dude :)
I put crouch/slide on the bottom mouse thumb button and that works for me quite well
Ideally most people would use their pinky for shift and pressing shift again, and holding down shift for a longer period can introduce strain and add unecessary focus on the lower left hand side of your left hand, so toggle sprint for that one tap then hold crouch on c solves this issue + toggle one you can do a dirty quick draw if you slam down 2(next weapon)+sprint together while you're sprinting you're going to always get a instant quickdraw.
I’ve never had strain issues in my pinky unless I’m holding it for extreme amounts of time
New player to mouse and keyboard here and just from watching this I can tell they are very well thought out and I can’t wait to try them out. I feel like I will be a lot faster with these and as A wow player CDEW would say these are keybinds that “make sense” thanks for the help
Came back to say they helped a ton, cheers!
Your videos have been popping up in all the right time!! thank you!! Cheers!!
Awesome!
5:11. Yeah you could say shatter dive is neat
Thanks so much just switched to pc works so great appreciate you!
nice one. been looking for a guide like this for a while as im not sure which works better for me so i've been trying to get ideas from others
Good tips! I'm desperately trying to get good with MnK atm. I am one of those guys with switching weapons bound to the scroll wheel lol. I just don't currently have the dexterity to use 1,2 & 3 for this function yet.
I think playing console at the same time is slowing my progress, but friends.
Haha there’s a lot of people using that bind. I would definitely suggest trying mwheel up for kinetic, down for energy and some other button for heavy if you really want to stick with the mouse wheel
@@PattycakesGaming For sure, that's how I currently have it set up! Some interesting binds in this vid none the less, I will try some changes out.
There was a fair amount of things you said that I liked, and a few that I didn't much care for. However, switching weapons for kinetic to scroll up and energy to scroll down is genius. I will probably do that and make heavy weapons on 2 since it is the closest to WASD and rarely used. Also, I make Q melee for every game, not sure why. Subbed
Thanks!
I used to have a mouse that has 2 buttons on the side, but I switched to a mouse that has 12 buttons on the side and it helps out so much
Perfect. Thanks very much for your videos. I started 4 days ago and i absolutely love this game. Pvp being the favourite part.
Awesome! Be sure to join the discord if you haven't yet, lots of cool people who can help you get started on the right foot :)
its so hard to unlearn keybinds but so worth it. One thing i like now that its possible is binding uncharged melee to C but charged melee to V, so if i want to uncharged melee but the enemy moves/dies, i dont waste my charged melee. especially helpful for one-two-punch
Great video! thanks for being detailed & taking you're time during the vid. It was much appreciated coming from a controller player who plays on PC! (no judging please! LOL)
Thank you Pattycakes I just Subscribed. I started playing on PC last week from Xbox1so this was extremely helpful! I have been lost with binding 😬 & this feels much better. Cheers 🥞🤘
Glad you found it helpful!
Thank man I just started to play destiny 2 on mouse and keyboard and is hard but I know I get it. Got tired of using controls
this was so helpful man thanks.
Great keybinds I started using them today and it just makes things so much better
thanks a lot for really helpful guides.
i play d2 1.5 year maybe. and pvp is my main activity. all of your videos i watched gives me something new or smthng to think about.
just 1 thing: i'm Ukrainian and my Eng is not bed but not perfect. So sometimes i use subtitles to have better understanding. but in few your videos i can't do this( don't know why.
"Advanced Hunter Movement Guide (Destiny 2)" for example
P.S. d2 - first game where i rebind jump from space button. bind jump to mouse 4 and use space to class ability for hunter.
f1ki 9 hmm thanks for the heads up on that one, maybe I need to set the language option on it to English. It’s possible that it’s too new and the transcription wasn’t processed yet too
I'm a hunter who loves movement so I use my mouse 4 and 5 for class ability and crouch for the dodge and slide. The grenade at q works fine for me
Thank you for this! I liked and subscribed.
This is awesome I want to start gaming on pc but it’ll be a while and this was so helpful
Just exactly how my setting is! I put my super on C and finisher on V but maybe I'll change it to Z later... Always accidentally cast my super while trying to do finisher on champions, smh...
My melee is on Mouse Button 4, since I'm someone who always melees after taking one shotgun shot. Really easy to use.
I’m personally could never get used to using control in any game, so I always use left alt for crouch in games. Just a quick move of thumb away from the space bar.
Wooo new video
The shotgun range at 1:08 is too crazy
Thanks for this, I always wondered what good player use
First Day On m/k and not as hard as I thought sure my aim is off a bit but my game skill helped a lot even though my aim isn’t the best highest kills on m/k is 35 can’t wait to get past my controller kill record
Just stick with it and you'll get good fast :) I recommend an aim trainer and joining the #aim-challenge channel in our discord (linked in description)
Totally will join the discord and try out an aim trainer I just discovered your channel last night and you’ve helped so much already 😁
For me, i have aprint on toggle (shift) and crouch on hold (alt). This makes things like crouch sliding and crouch spamming super easy
Coming from controller, I was so used to my left hand being the "ADS" hand that I had to adapt, I use CTRL to run and Shift to ADS... Probably the only one that does that but I really like it, I've got grenade on right click, melee on farthest mouse side button, interact on the closest one.
I'm curious to see if anyone here uses something similar :)
That’s interesting, I have never heard of a setup like that
That's wild do you still use the same key binds😂
Vz Outlook Yeah sure
I know this video isn't recent, so hopefully you still catch these comments.
Not sure whether you've already covered this, but I'd like to see your take on transitioning from analog stick movement to WASD movement when switching from console to PC. That's where I struggle the most when trying to use MnK. My aim is good/great, but my movement is terrible, so my overall gameplay suffers.
Jason Blackwell honestly it just takes time and practice to build your muscle memory. I would start with low stakes training like clearing PvE zones and bounties, and progress into PvP when you’re ready to step it up
@@PattycakesGaming That's what I figured, but I wanted to ask for your input since you have considerable time and experience. It's just a very different movement pattern that my brain is still sorting out (linear vs. 360 degree), lol. Thanks for the response!
@@jasonblackwell9504 Yeah totally makes sense, I was lucky to grow up playing both KBM (CS) and controller (Halo / goldeneye / perfect dark) so for me they both feel fairly natural but I understand it's difficult switching to a totally new input style
Awesome vid, helped a ton! Only just started this year playing D2 on Xbox and the other day download it from steam. Love the PC aim and the game feels much faster and smoother on PC but going from controller to M&C has been difficult especially with the default. Going to play around with the keybinds and this has given me some great ideas thanks 👍
Awesome thanks! Make sure you check out the aim video as well, it will help with your mouse movement :)
Just wanted to note that you can actually double bind keys by editing the config file on PC. E.g. You can only use your class ability on the ground so you could also bind airmove to F. While in the air you are dashing and while on the ground you use the class ability.
how to double bind? where do i edit config file
@@Jay4_747 (Windows Only) First you have to switch from "Account" Keybinds to "Computer" Keybinds in the in-game options. Then you go to "%appdata%\Bungie\DestinyPC\prefs" you can copy and paste this string as is into your file explorer without the ". In this folder there should be a file called "cvars" its a XML file. if you edit the cvars file on your local computer, you can bind TWO actions to a single key. I have Air move and class ability bound to the same key (mouse button) . It allows me to dodge in any direction on either hunter or warlock icarus.. and since you can't do class abilities while moving (or in the air) you can be stationary on the ground, strike the key, and you'll do class ability (titan shield or warlock rift). It's been a game changer for me.
That's cool! I always wished I could do that in the UI. I'll have to try it sometime

thx man I was using the controller for the longest I just switch to pc thx man
So helpful. Thanks man
I love me some McWifi. Great vid as always!
Thank you I just switched to pc
Awesome video. Thanks
I see so many people using 1 2 and 3 for weapon switching but how can you possibly move and switch weapons at the same time?
Great video as per usual. I need to tune in on the twitch stream. I appreciate the info you put out and the level of detail. Thanks!
Thank you! And yeah I'd love to see you in chat sometime :)
Idk how much of these I'll use but going from console to pc is hard. The binds bungie has aren't bad but some of them are but it just comes down to muscle memory
My fingers can rest at ease-ish, thank you kind sir 🙏
This is overwhelming lol
Could you do a setup build like on a hunter , warlock and titan and fully explain it like a my favorite build on each character. Also maybe one for trials fully explaining the builds not like your other build video
Yeah I have a few hunter builds on this channel already and will be doing a bunch more next season. I'm also going to try to do a few warlock and titan ones
Pattycakes Gaming Okay thank you really like your vids keep it up 👍🏼👍🏼
Do you have a mouse recommendation? Mine is 10$ 2 button one with a scroll button
Man i'm new at keyboard i find so hard to use S A S during fights.. My hands are so big for that
