To add to the concept of pre-aiming: It is especially important to make space between your reticle and the wall when aiming in D2, as the bullet magnetism (present both on mnk and controller) will bend your bullet right into a wall. If your aim is "good enough" for D2 to give you the headshot, it will bend the bullet to travel in a straight line to the center of the head of the opponent, but the game will not check if their entire head's hitbox is visible before doing that.
Something I NEVER see talked about but is super important: Different weapons have different ADS sensitivities; for example, ADS hand cannons are more sensitive than ADS pulse rifle. This leads to inconsistent muscle memory training and has always bothered me in D2 and some other games. I literally adjust the in-game ADS Sensitivity option (not the Look Sensitivity) depending on which weapon type I use to maintain the same consistency when Aiming-Down-Sights. Just some information to consider!
Some additional things to add If you're on MnK, choose a sens that allows you to flick your mouse left or right at a full 90 degree angle. So in the middle of a fight, you can slide to cover if you need to bail out quickly. On top of that, pick a mouse with well placed thumb buttons and where can change your dpi in the software. Tinker around and find a dpi, hipfire, and ads sens you feel confident on and stick to it. When I get paid I'll give your pad a go
This is not necessarily true. You can change your sensitivity regularly and even use mouse acceleration programs like RawAccel. Muscle memory is not as important in raw mechanical aim and your ability to adapt will cover for it. Almost all top Kovaaks players change their sensitivities multiple times a day and depending on what scenario they are playing.
Man I REALLY miss making PvP focused content. It's the whole reason I started making videos in the first place. The game has just changed so much in interest (less people caring about improving) and also just a less fun PvP experience for me overall that I shifted towards making general D2 info content. But my heart is still in PvP improvement and although this video was kind of a pain to make, I really enjoyed talking about these concepts!

I remember seeing these videos on YT regarding Trials maps and where to go and where to aim for best results and that's the other thing that helped me improve a lot. It's not just Pre-aiming, it's knowing where to actually pre-aim for every specific spot on every map. What do you think about doing map-specific tips and whatnot?
Omg i love these types of videos. It feels like all the pvp youtubers who made videos like this kinda just stopped like 2 years ago. Nomad does lists now. Shadow became a mythbuster. Its nice to get a pvp tips video again after so long.

I also think its important to slow down a bit. Coming from a game like Team Fortress 2, pre-aiming can be difficult due to a technique on sniper known as "hiding your dot" where you aim at a wall in front of a corner or lane you're peeking so the enemy doesn't see the dot on the wall behind them, im so used to hiding my dot that im glued to a wall next to an angle instead of the angle itself
All your videos feel super high-quality and this one's no different. That said, I'm personally not a big fan of aimtrainers. I feel like while they do train your brain for fps games, if you're trying to get better at one in particular you're better off actually playing the game. Queue up some control with hc/shotgun or smg/sniper and practice aiming, tracking, flicking, etc. This also allows you to learn how to move better with methods like jiggle peaking. In addition, practicing in the game you're learning lets you learn general game knowledge; this includes so many things like maps, round timings (when people enter sniper lanes at the beginning of a round), where to pre-aim, counterplay for certain abilities, sound queues, etc. Once again, just my opinion. Aimtrainers don't do it for me, I'd rather actually play the game I'm trying to get better at. Other than that, I think most of the other stuff you talked about is super awesome and stuff that I learned through thousands of hours in this game. Super awesome video, I'm always impressed at the amount of effort that goes into everything you do.
Thanks for the comment! To me a lot of people think about aim trainers in slightly the wrong way. It's the equivalent of practicing free throws in basketball or spending time on the practice putting green in golf. You're developing specific skills in a hyper concentrated way that you usually won't have much time to practice in real games. It's definitely NOT a replacement for practicing your game of choice, but they can accelerate mechanical skill development for scenarios you might only have a chance to practice a few minutes per hour in real games.
@@PattycakesGaming You're completely right. My experience getting into pvp in this game was probably very different from other people's; I think just playing pve so much as well as coming from games like r6 siege and titanfall, I already had lots of mechanical skills like aim. I'm of the belief that aimtrainers are best suited for people just getting into competitive gaming, and for the most part their maximum effect is diminished the higher the level you play at. This is all just my take on things. If it works for you, then that's great, but they always feel like too much of a time committment that I could be spending in game.
@@isteinbachs6 years of pve and zero pvp... Jumped into trials this week with skills and game knowledge and I was finally able to have a fighting chance.
So the issue I have with Aim Triners is the same I have with grip trainers for bodybuilding: they only train your aim (grip) in a kind of academic way rather than a practical way. For instance, in bodybuilding and powerlifting if you train farmer's carries or rack shrugs you'll gain way more of a functional grip rather than just getting a higher grip on a trainer. A similar thing happened when I tried Kovak's in that my aim "got better" until I started doing comp where communication and position was foremost, secondary to aim, which you aim doesn't mean crud if you're getting teamed by handcannons with a sub .6 second ttk. I know the video is about aim, don't get me wrong there's a lot of great stuff in here, but just remember it's one part of combat.
I play it like i used to play pro halo.. I just take it slow position is key and usually just walk around so i get first shot and stay near cover always and have an out. Staying alive is more important than a kill and your teamates will switch with you. I make sure i get one kill then ill get crazy that way you stay positive and dont lose.
I used to live by Nomad's range infographic, but that was made before the ranges were normalized. Some of the information is still accurate, but other information has changed since then
i have a weird matra i repeat when i notice my aim is going on a down hill trend as i play eyes to head head to hands, meaning confirm my eye is on the reticle at all times while i play and then put that dead center on there head with my mouse hand then pull, since starting this its really helped my sniper gameplay that and slowing down just a touch
I normally avoid videos like this because I've always been happy with my skill level and want to improve on my own, but lately, it feels like my skills have been going down more and more, and I feel like I'm letting down my one friend that keeps gradually getting better having to carry me harder and harder through Trials. The only thing I usually have a hard time with is getting that last bullet to kill someone, I'll hit all headshots, except the one that matters, even if a body shot'll kill them, I'll miss it(or they'll walk into cover and I CAN'T finish them, but that's not aim related), so far the only thing I've tried is the windows mouse settings, I had the precision on, turned it off, and while I need to get used to this feeling, my sniping has already improved within 5 mins in PvE (I complain about my sniper skills in PvE & PvP alike so honestly it feels huge), I think while my overall sensitivity is wonky atm, my ADS sensitivity is way better, specifically the smaller but fast movements.
Absolutely fantastic video from being easy to understand and very in depth….. but I need to know what that shader is that is making the ammit look so damn good❤
Bro I've been playing in old gen with a controller that has aome drift on the aiming thumbstick and a tv with ghosting, but ive never felt so outmatched in my life
haha it's a life long journey! I've been working on aim training in a focused way for 3-4 years now and have noticed big improvements with focused effort. But I've really been working on it for 20+ years, and it's a thing you never truly master
Didn't see it mentioned in the video but TURN OFF AIM SMOOTHING AND MAKE SURE ITS OFF IN THE CVAR FILE! For some reason turning it off doesn't always actually turn it off so the CVAR file needs to be edited. There are guides on how to do this.
@@baileyharrison8277 there is also mouse acceleration - faster mouse movement increases your sens for a moment, then it goes down for slow movements, also not quite fun to have that on in fps
I don’t care how in depth this video is- seeing the gameplay put any thoughts of me ever attempting trials to sleep. 😂 Edit: great video all the same lol
I was initially just watching to try and get better at d2 pvp, but it turns out I've had enhanced pointer precision on for years now. Turned it off and now I'm better in terms of aim in almost every game. Not sure what I'd do without ya, pattycakes
great content, i have my controller setup in such a way that i can only go for flicks, i decided to mess with sensitivity curve, now my controller registers every input as twice the speed, fun, but rough, when aiming long distance or having to track, i really struggle, guess im a masochist lol
I'd love to buy an Emberedge mouse pad and support you but sadly I live in Denmark (Europe) and I can see the shipping alone doubles the price and then I'd still have to deal with VAT/import etc. Kinda hard to justify paying $112-135 for a mouse pad. Great content though, your videos have REALLY improved my aim
@@PattycakesGaming awesome dude I was hoping for something like this! And I just wanna say I highly enjoy all your PvP and aim improvement videos. Huge help for ignorant people like me who originally played at what now seems like an absurd eDPI of 32000. Aimlabs routine is great too!
While I was watching the video I had a realization. Unlike all other shooter games that I play, my issue isnt aim in destiny, its my gamesense. My gamesense in other games that I play is typically pretty good, while my aim... not so much. I need to work on my gamesense... badly. If I could get that down, sure I would be better at the game, but i'd be less angry, and thats worth more than being good in my opinion, at least for me. Overall my best weapons are 120 and 140 Hand Cannons, Precison Scouts, and 600 Autos, and also Mida Multi-Tool. Yeah I have better aim with things that dont require a ton of setup, as Im too impatient for snipers and fusions. Maybe its because I have my eyes glued to the Radar and head toward the yellow color no matter what. I also realized that if I play OSU! before i get on, my (already decent) aim noticeably better, which while kinda weird, kinda makes sense. OSU! is a game of prediction and timing, which is the kind of aim that, while uncomfortable for me, is required if I want to use any kind of sniper that day.
Definitely a good summary of a lot of things in various other videos I watched over the past two years when trying to get better in pvp (and arguably pve too, imo). If anyone knows, what's his Ammit roll and what's the hand cannon at 9:25? I'm curious.
For his ammit it’s dynamic sway and tap the trigger both enhanced with ricochet round, I think his barrel is corkscrew or hammer forged not sure though. His HC at 9:25 is either austringer or rose, it’s barrel looks too short to be rose I’m leaning more towards austringer
Ammit is crafted with enh TTT, enh DSR, ricochet, hammer forged, range mw, counterbalance. Not sure if it's the best roll but it's just what I had on my character at the time. Kinda cool how TTT and DSR hand the benefits from one to another so it's always juiced up
@@PattycakesGaming I actually have this exact roll except for Smallbore instead of Hammer-Forged (I've been considering on switching it out for Hammer-Forged for the past week or two). I noticed at some point, I was already at 100 stability during TTT but I think I had been trying to convince myself to keep Smallbore for after it wears off. Still on the fence about it currently.
@@thetealphoenix5485 I went back to look at it again and I think you're right about it being Austringer. I use Prized Ivory almost always and forgot there was a second ornament for it (Broken Bird, to Be Healed). lol
FINALLY cuz everytime I shoot ppl I hold the red dot on their heads IT ALWAYS SHOWS body shots when I continue the fire and I’m like tf is wrong with my aim when the red DOT is on the head why is it registered as body shots and not headshots like I’m decent at trials I’ve solo flawlesss 78 times and others with clan mates and took myself ascendant and have gotten myself not forgotten and redrix claymore getting lucky 3 taps off sometimes but my shots are neevr consistent and I neevr understood how I could shoot someone first and still loose

I swear he says turn ON vsync and I almost spit out my beer. Plus max frames is nice in pvp, but in pve certain things will hit you A LOT harder as the damage is still tied to frames.
I'm definitely that guy who can't hit my shit even if my target is a stationary object. Reason why I liked ticcu when it came out Oh can't forget about hipfire skyburners too lol
New pc player here recently switched from console, how do I access the monitor settings application shown at 0:50? Yes I know this is a stupid question
Honestly as someone who used controllers for 7 years but switched to mnk 7 months ago i can safely say you that my aim is 1000x better than on controller I mean some exceptions might be smg (noticeable difference) sidearms (enormous difference) and sulgs (small difference) But I mainly use hc which practically aims for you on mnk and hip fire slug which is impossible on controller because of how reliant most controller players are on ads modifier One also key difference is that I won’t die just because someone shoot me in the back
for me and 99% of pc players is the opposite , as a player who played mnk all life switching to controller is just a blessing, playing easy mode on near all games is fun even if is unfair when i match mnk players @@Telesto_Timelost
Im on Xbox one S with an Elite Controller currently till i upgrade and i normally have been keeping my sensitivity like around 3 or 4 so i can hit my shots better with hand cannons, but my efficiency goes down in most matches because i die alot more when use them, do i gradually increase my sensitivity?
Play at 1 higher than your comfortable with in PvE until you get comfortable, then make the change in PvP. PvE is lower stakes to me and the enemies are alot more predictable so training your sensitivity in low pressure scenarios is helpful. Another big thing is please use the ADS modifer. Dont just leave it at 1. Most console players arent used to the setting because until a few years ago, it wasnt even an option and only very recently is it becoming industry standard. I play on 10-11 sens depending on my gun, but 0.5 ADS. This means that im essentially at 10 for flicking, turning around, etc, but 5ish sens for ADS. Alot easier to track
I used to be 1 score short of master in the old system. I just started working on the BMs again, I'm getting close to jade again and hope to hit master soon after! What about you?
Heres the real secret to getting god like aim. Get dma cheats like every streamer, if you arent on pc, get a cronus zen. Bungo doesnt care about either one, aparently
My buddy used to get so upset with me for doing that. Shooting random stuff on the map practicing my aim. Hed say you can practice shooting at the enemy and im like this is why im always in first. This way ill hit my first shot and you wont. I hate when ppl try to tell me how to play or what i should do or play as in a game i stopped playing with that dude after like 15 years lol idk i stopped playing for a while then came back and it hit me instantly that this dude was a textbook narcissist and if you dont do as he says he has a fucking meltdown like a child.
Most of this stuff doesn't matter when you got stick drift 😢. Cant belive i spent 200 bucks on a pro controller and it got stick drift in less than a year
11:24 bro why am I so bad 😭 276 was the lowest I got and that was my third try. Google says 250 is the average. I thought I was fast as fuck boi.. now I know I’m just average as joe yo.
@PattycakesGaming I do play on console currently, so I did the test on my phone. But I’m sure there’s some kind of a difference between the two if I was able to time it on controller. I’m averaging around 280ms on my phone.
By biggest problem with destinys aim system is that the settings fucking suck, there’s no vertical sense slider, the number system they use sucks it needs more control like battlefield for example it goes to 100 but you can set the sensitivity to like 51.7 so there’s way more control you have when it comes to tweaking sensitivity (they also have a vertical sensitivity slider 🙄) I think for me personally it jumps too much between each number I want to have more control over my aiming especially having to play against other pc players who are still using mouse and keyboard. I prefer controller for destiny and it’s one of the few games that has done this shit. With all the damn money they make you’d think they would have a more in depth settings system.

I used to live by Nomad's range infographic, but that was made before the ranges were normalized. Some of the information is still accurate, but other information has changed since then
Yeah it's a bit outdated these days but the general idea is still valid, you just have to tweak some of the individual entries
i have a weird matra i repeat when i notice my aim is going on a down hill trend as i play eyes to head head to hands, meaning confirm my eye is on the reticle at all times while i play and then put that dead center on there head with my mouse hand then pull, since starting this its really helped my sniper gameplay that and slowing down just a touch
Wow .. very informative .
Thanks a lot for that mate 😊
Absolutely fantastic video from being easy to understand and very in depth….. but I need to know what that shader is that is making the ammit look so damn good❤
Thanks! That would be iridescent coral
Thank you Patty, this is great!!
Great job with this guide patty!
Thanks Sini!
This is an amazing aim advice video. Thanks Pattycakes!!!
Glad it was helpful!
This helped my aim thanks
Bro I've been playing in old gen with a controller that has aome drift on the aiming thumbstick and a tv with ghosting, but ive never felt so outmatched in my life
This is sooooo goood!!! Thanks!
fun fact - bumper jumper is so much more effective than the default layout for controllers that Bungie almost made it the default layout in Halo 3
63k views, it's a relief knowing I'm not the only one struggling with aiming.
haha it's a life long journey! I've been working on aim training in a focused way for 3-4 years now and have noticed big improvements with focused effort. But I've really been working on it for 20+ years, and it's a thing you never truly master
18:30 Oh hey, I recognize those target dummies! 😂
haha they were very helpful!
Quick question what is aim smoothing?
@@baileyharrison8277 Mouse smoothing gives your mouse movement inertia
@@LeadCodpiece ty for the help
@@baileyharrison8277 there is also mouse acceleration - faster mouse movement increases your sens for a moment, then it goes down for slow movements, also not quite fun to have that on in fps
I don’t care how in depth this video is- seeing the gameplay put any thoughts of me ever attempting trials to sleep. 😂
Edit: great video all the same lol
I was initially just watching to try and get better at d2 pvp, but it turns out I've had enhanced pointer precision on for years now. Turned it off and now I'm better in terms of aim in almost every game. Not sure what I'd do without ya, pattycakes
Glad I could help!
great content, i have my controller setup in such a way that i can only go for flicks, i decided to mess with sensitivity curve, now my controller registers every input as twice the speed, fun, but rough, when aiming long distance or having to track, i really struggle, guess im a masochist lol
my aim is actually atrocious so this helped me a loooooot
The best thing you can do for your Crucible performance is have Bungie get players to actually come back (impossible)
We're actually moving to a new shipping provider right now that should help reduce the international shipping fees. Glad you enjoyed the video! :)
PLEASE MAKE A VID ON THORN
My next one will have a thorn segment
Killer content!
Can you review the ps5 dualsense edge controller settings 😅
Game sense is incredibly important! And plays heavily into your ability to effectively pre-aim too
Understanding the range of your gun (if you don’t already) would be my advice for you
And 60/40 rule
that is something I struggle with@@Telesto_Timelost
This is the first comment I have ever made... Thank you!! Very helpful!
Sincerely, ashley-thirteen
I use Prized Ivory almost always and forgot there was a second ornament for it (Broken Bird, to Be Healed). lol
Just so I know, why do you say to turn off Vsync in game? What does it affect?
Anyone else here already have good/amazing aim and still watching?
Hi. Thanks a lot for the routine. Please tell me if i need to change the aim down sights settings in the aimlab or I can leave everything as default?
I use default for ADS sens (1.0 in Destiny, and whatever default is in aimlabs)
>spec into aim assist
>throw on targeting and unflinching mods
>profit
The 800dpi 5 sense in game is exactly what I use lol
My fav sens :)
I see a lot of UA-camrs using Slug Shotguns…. Are they better than Matador now?
Can’t hit stuff in d2 titanfall def d2 not a chance
20:13 bro how u get that pic of kitchen setup? 🤔
chuckle. I play on a laptop with a max 60.1 Hz. No wonder I'm playing a second behind everyone else ;)
No matter what sense high or low I can’t snap to a target I allways over or under shoot no matter what. What can I do
Whats that mause u use on the vids and do u have a main mause ?
Lately been using the finalmouse ULC medium and EmberEdge kx100 pad
lets not act like this game dont have magic bullest that are net based lmao
What handcannon is that?
Any changes/updates 3 months later?
FINALLY cuz everytime I shoot ppl I hold the red dot on their heads IT ALWAYS SHOWS body shots when I continue the fire and I’m like tf is wrong with my aim when the red DOT is on the head why is it registered as body shots and not headshots like I’m decent at trials I’ve solo flawlesss 78 times and others with clan mates and took myself ascendant and have gotten myself not forgotten and redrix claymore getting lucky 3 taps off sometimes but my shots are neevr consistent and I neevr understood how I could shoot someone first and still loose
I can't even follow the first tip lmao. My monitor is 64hrz and square. I also found it in a trashcan.
Bro why do you have a square monitor?💀
@@Telesto_Timelost i have no idea. It isn't completely square but its much more than anything I've seen. 1600x1200 I think. Id have to check. You can really tell if I'm attempting to stream a game because UA-cam stretches it to a standardized resolution.
@@xosui5673 you can change the resolution of your screen by going into the pc settings if I’m not mistaken
@@Telesto_Timelost but then I'm not using the whole monitor. And I lose the ability to see any good distance. It's definitely going to be my next upgrade though for sure.
i have a question can you explan how i put my in game sens into aim labs because i have a in game sens of 7 but if i put that into aimlabs i cant aim
You missed the best tip for improving your aim - just use the Jotunn! Nothing like a dose of pure skill for the low low price of your dignity!
I know this is a little old but quick question...do you mess with your ADS sensitivity modifier on mouse and keybaord? I see a lot of oeolle recommending it but it feels so weird to me when it slows down and im used to my normal 800 dpi/6 sens movement.
I use 800 dpi, 5 sens, 1.0 ads
@@PattycakesGaming Sweet! Thanks for the quick reply...love your content. Sorry for the double question...I asked this on a newer video after posting this question since this one was older and I wasnt sure if you would see it.
I swear he says turn ON vsync and I almost spit out my beer. Plus max frames is nice in pvp, but in pve certain things will hit you A LOT harder as the damage is still tied to frames.
Yeah I think the audio glitched a bit in the recording, it’s kinda muffled. It’s supposed to say turn it OFF! Haha
I’m of the opinion of not using targeting mods because they don’t actually make you better in skill.
aim labs link not working for me?
I came from the console, what sensitivity do you recommend? I just like moving my wrist, I can't find one that I like
Start with something like 800dpi, 4-5 sens and adjust from there. It's right around the middle of where you will find most of the best players
@@PattycakesGaming thanks for responding
I'm definitely that guy who can't hit my shit even if my target is a stationary object. Reason why I liked ticcu when it came out
Oh can't forget about hipfire skyburners too lol
And the smart pistol
Do these settings work for PS5?
Yeah you should be fine with this stuff on ps5
New pc player here recently switched from console, how do I access the monitor settings application shown at 0:50? Yes I know this is a stupid question
Figured it out 👌
on pc is simple, on mnk play a lot use aim trainers etc etc, or you can just use controller
Honestly as someone who used controllers for 7 years but switched to mnk 7 months ago i can safely say you that my aim is 1000x better than on controller
I mean some exceptions might be smg (noticeable difference) sidearms (enormous difference) and sulgs (small difference)
But I mainly use hc which practically aims for you on mnk and hip fire slug which is impossible on controller because of how reliant most controller players are on ads modifier
One also key difference is that I won’t die just because someone shoot me in the back
for me and 99% of pc players is the opposite , as a player who played mnk all life switching to controller is just a blessing, playing easy mode on near all games is fun even if is unfair when i match mnk players @@Telesto_Timelost
What shader is on your Ammit
Iridescent Coral
Im on Xbox one S with an Elite Controller currently till i upgrade and i normally have been keeping my sensitivity like around 3 or 4 so i can hit my shots better with hand cannons, but my efficiency goes down in most matches because i die alot more when use them, do i gradually increase my sensitivity?
3 or 4? Jeez thats slow
As an ex-Valorant player, hearing Cross-hair placement gave me PTSD
whats ur voltaic rank ?
I used to be 1 score short of master in the old system. I just started working on the BMs again, I'm getting close to jade again and hope to hit master soon after! What about you?
@@PattycakesGaming masters in dynamic clicking and reactive tracking and plat in everything else lol. great vid tho you've got really smooth aim.
I don't need to train my aim, I am the best at outlining guardians at the walls
You forget about most important skill! Perk... To have THE BEST Ping on server ;P BB, GG, HF.
Is destiny2s aim assist dual zone, linear or exponential?
Exponential probably
i miss unnerfed desperado. that shit mows down eveyrone
Most of this stuff doesn't matter when you got stick drift 😢. Cant belive i spent 200 bucks on a pro controller and it got stick drift in less than a year
Try to fix it with some random yt tutorial.
Good luck
WTF... I'm like "this guy is seriously telling me to check my monitor refresh rate?" yeah it was set to 60hz instead of 144hz.
Nothing shows up
11:24 bro why am I so bad 😭 276 was the lowest I got and that was my third try. Google says 250 is the average. I thought I was fast as fuck boi.. now I know I’m just average as joe yo.
Honestly a lot of it is peripherals/system lag. The faster your peripherals, the faster score you get.
@PattycakesGaming I do play on console currently, so I did the test on my phone. But I’m sure there’s some kind of a difference between the two if I was able to time it on controller. I’m averaging around 280ms on my phone.
The link for console doesn't work..
Do you mean for Aimlabs? Those are for PC only unfortunately
Ok
Ah yes. I am the 666th like.
As was fortold.
Or something like that.
