There have been a few comments, which are amusing, discussing the water sounds in the video. The park file we used was 100% water to simulate cedar point being on a peninsula so what you hear is the the sound of water underneath the scenery. We have added music now! Hopefully, it is an improvement. Let us know which you like better, music or bring back the water!
Damn good job!! Ya fooled me! It looks so real can't tell now a days 🤣🤣🤣
idc about the loss of a crazy launch all that much, being able to go up that high backwards and still get to view the lake from the top hat is and always will be one of the coolest experiences of my life
Nothing beats it’s launch
How these concepts have fallen from absolute insanity to a neutered version of the original.
All it does is make ride capacity suffer.
@charvelgaming2975 capacity sucked on the og dragster anyways so much so I usually just skipped it as it was a one trick pony actually more excited for this then the original ride
You haven’t ridden it yet you don’t know if it sucks.
Capacity on OG dragster was about 1800/hr and on this it’s expected to be only about 1200/hr so yes very accurate
quite the let down tbh
Thank you for getting that out so quick. A little underwhelming but at least TTD will be back.
One of the few people that will miss the old launch. It won’t be the same regardless of how big the back spike is.
Having such a massive spike will be amazing regardless, as well as a huge rollback. The positive g's during the pullout will also be the same. Hopefully, due to such a long launch track, the ride will have plenty of time to fine tune the exact speed that the train goes up the tophat, thus increasing its reliability considerably. It will also be the only switch track multi launch in Ohio, and Cedar Fair's first as well I believe.
It’s not over before you know it. The launches will feel more intense than what the video seems to feel like.
i feel like these launches are gonna be underwhelming
I feel like it's a trade off. No hydraulic launch for 3 launches and two moments of weightlessness...
Remember, Velocicoaster’s second launch doesn’t kick nearly as much, but it feel so much faster. It definitely still could be fun!
No LSM coaster can reach hydraulics punch, so don't expect much anyways
Ive done red force although there is no initall kick the launch is still really good.
Might actually beat Superman Escape from Krypton for weakest LSM launch
What's with the water sounds?! Lol
I hope they add sound effects when it's going by the launch platform to mimmick the old dragster.
Agreed! The small details make a difference.
This was pretty close! Almost exactly correct!👍
So close! Thanks!
Yep, all perfect now!
Spot on! You nailed it!
It almost seems to good to be true that someone actually leaked it.
I feel like if it went backwards first then forwards maybe it would feel a bit more forceful?
It would have to be more forceful to get the train over the top hat in only two accelerations. But there isn't enough space behind the station to start backwards. You also wouldn't go up the spike very far and the ride would be over quicker.
THE EJECTOR AND WHIP ON THE TOP HAT IS CRAZY! 😱
Nice! Especially with the queue line still in an area where a one in a million piece can break off.
I love vertical spikes where you face downwards. ❤
This is totally cool! Can't wait! But, I think we've seen it before.
Cool, so its a family ride now.
Rock on! 🤙
1200 riders per hour is better than I thought tbh. The first launch seems pretty pointless tbh. Would’ve preferred to go up higher faster.
Thank god this didn’t turn out like most insane concepts. This is what I needed in life.
Lol the sounds of the waves
I think they should throw homage to Wicked Twister and the OG Maverick and make the spike a vertical heartline twist.
Wish it launched backwards first. Would’ve been better for capacity and the ride experience
They might in the future
Eh, it gives them time to actually unload and setup dispatch for the returning train. Might as well make the ride experiences longer otherwise they wouldn’t be able to keep up.
The original ride had a part fly off and injure a person. So the park changes the ride so that it goes over people twice as often. I'm sure they'll make other changes to improve safety. But it feels like they used the incident to change the ride because they didn't like maintaining the hydraulic launch.
A huge part of the appeal of the old ride was the intensity. Your sitting there on the ground and about 7 seconds later you're 420ft in the air. This ride will be much less intense feeling in multiple ways. At a bare minimum, they should at least put in an airtime hill on the return. Super easy and would offset some of the other disappointments.
So once it crest the top hat after hitting 120mph, by the top of the top hat momentum slowed it down during the climb, what I want to know is what is the speed created from the drop through the spiral before the break run. 70-80mph from drop to brake run?
Also once the train reaches it peak height on the new spike it obviously slows down before falling down the spike, so really we go from a rolling backwards stop near zero mph and then hit 120mph. It’s not really just a gain of 20 mph. It’s the whole 120.
Honestly would've preferred to have an extra airtime hill or something in between the launch and the top hat, so the launch track would be shorter resulting in a more powerful launch, or even just CP deciding to keep it a single launch coaster. The launch right now looks like its not even intense as Helix at Liseberg, which says alot
This pov makes the cart go much faster over the top. I'm wpndering if they could actually make it more forceful at the top with the longer launch or if that would break stuff
They could do it and it wouldn't add much stress onto things. But it would make the top hat be over and done with much faster.
I hope the launch has an airtime hill!
The new design will definitely help with the TTD's previous long lines. Because guests will be at other rides. This thing sucks.
Does any body know if they are announcing the new ride at the park?, Like they did for Steel Vengence, Or will it be at there website online.
Will they really announce what it will be on Tuesday?. And if so will it be at the park or online?.
Accurate
The pre-launch pause won't be a thing: fast-switch track will mean that, in this POV for example, as soon as that train in circuit clears the top-hat, the next train will be seconds from rolling into the transfer-onto-circuit switch. That's the only way to match/beat past Riders Per Hour and not have it be a miserably slow moving queue.
Yeah, the pre-launch pause is a no limits quark tbh. There has to be a block brake area after the switch to hold the train while the switch moves to make way for the coaster when it rolls back.
@@Escape_Designs you can get around it thru scripting the switch track as manual automated movements. Anyway its not an actual concern; the parks POV even included a brief pause post transfer, so that may be the current expected ride experience and train sequencing after all 😶🌫️
Why are people complaining? You wanted a spike, you got a spike.
If the spike is 420 then how high will the train travel up the spike? How high does the superman ride go up to, cause i think it also launches around 100 mph which is what this does backwards into the spike so that could be a pretty good mark to go off of as far as the height is concerned
2/3rds to 3/4s the way...maybe 350' on a good day
In our concept, the back car makes it up about 400 ft. Wish it was taller / faster too, but 101 mph backwards is still an underrated backwards launch. Likely the fastest in the world.
- Dustin from Escape Designs
First launch will probably be a rolling launch
I tried to tell everyone the 500+ foot twisted spike and airtime hill on the launch track and layout extension was too far-fetched. Now everyone's disappointed. Even though my expectations were low, i though it would at least have a larger rollback than this and maybe an airtime hill at the end like Kingda Ka. I mean i don't think this version is much better than the original, more like a trade off which is pretty disappointing considering all the hype it got. Also, why not just extend the spike and reclaim the height record? Smh i dont know what they are doing with this...
They couldn't extend the spike because then they would need to brake it for the top hat after and the coaster fans usually don't like trim brakes
@njdotson that's no necessarily true. You're removing losses from the equation ie friction and wind
@@njdotson They could just have a weaker or nonexistent third launch. If they had an airtime hill on the launch track it wouldn't be boring straight track either.
There is still no official announcement yet so why are you saying this?
@@zachjones2346 Its not official but it seems to be a pretty legit leak.
They should make an airtime hill on the launch track
This feels like a Project Exodus type announcement where enthusiasts are given what will be an unbelievable ride experience, yet still feel underwhelmed. I am guilty of both cases, this first launch feels like a huge step back in what made dragster so iconic and intense and the lack of an airtime hill mid launch track seems like a missed opportunity, but it is still crazy to think that this is really happening! Just a shame parks don't always seize the opportunity to really go for it with such a perfect opportunity
If the first launch was 100-110 mph this would be so much better
That would be too fast for three launches then. I don't think it's possible given the layout anyway. If they could have done a single launch lsm they would have already done it.
@@bearclaw5115 How is that too fast for 3 launches?
Does that roll back allow it to speed up faster or just to make it look cooler
both, plus it makes the ride longer and more fun
Wonder if this leak was really true or not !!! I can't find it now when I go to look Zamperla up yesterday you could. So I'm beginning to think it wasn't real !
It disappeared from the site after about 5 minutes
I hope the rollback goes a little higher than the depiction.
Very disappointed. Only halfway up the tophat on the first launch. That’s not a rollback. That’s lame
It would be awesome if they added some classic V10 Indycar sounds
I'm sure there will be some sort of theming like that! Looking forward to seeing what they build.
I think the first launch should be more than 74 like what was leaked, that way we could get a more true rollback
First launch will basically feel like the Maverick tunnel launch
Maverick’s launch will probably end up being more intense than a rolling launch on TTD
Every body/ mostly everybody thought the spike will the tallest at five hundred feet or more, and know people are starting to say it is going to be shorter.
They can easily do it in one launch if they wanted to
They really should have went for an airtime hill in the middle of their swing launch imo. Intamin always does this, so why omit it this time?
What park is this beautiful coaster going to be built at?! Hopefully Six Flags St Louis
Bruh
You're joking, right?
@@Coasterdude02149 no? Possibly the coaster going to the new Saudi park?
No
I know y’all thinking this slow but this is animated so the real one will be fast
What's with the water background noise
The park file we used was 100% water to simulate cedar point being on a peninsula so what you hear is the the sound of water underneath the scenery. We have added music now! Hopefully, it is an improvement.
@@Escape_Designs great idea, the water ambiance was making my brain hurt 😂
Should've kept the single launch
Mack rides launch coaster be like
I believe your layout is correct (with the leak), but I think your dispatch interval is incorrect, slightly.
For example, let's say Train A has completed launch 3, and clears the tophat. Similar to your animation, the switch track would enable and the next train (Train B), It's clear to proceed. While Train A is still completing/occupying the main brakes, Train B can still launch (even though the next block is occupied). Train B can complete launch 1 and 2. While Train B is on the back spike, Train A should have cleared main bakes. If train A still occupies main break block, Train B will not proceed through the launch 3 and go into a block stop and slow before having to reset.
This is similar operations to Maverick, where Train A has Enter the horseshoe roll and Train B is dispatched. If Train A has not cleared the block, Train B will stop on the lift hill and roll back.
Thank you for your comment. I actually believe our model does pretty close to what you are saying. The reason for the slight pause between the launch and the switch, is the switch track has to engage with the straight track before the launch can occur. We were pretty quick with the update since the leak. If we update post announcement, I’ll be sure to take your comment into consideration. Thanks again! - Dustin, Escape Designs
I hate to sound like a downer but if the first launch is only 70-75 or something seems kinda lame especially because you barely get a rollback but hopefully the ride will actually perform better than I’m thinking.
1st launch should be 90.
They have made a huge mistake if this is what drags her 2.0 is going to be! Did anybody else almost like full on fall asleep while waiting?
First
fastest and longest strata coaster and tallest spike
how is no one talking about the water sounds!
The sound coming from the LSM’s will increase the intensity factory like it does on velocicoaster and pantheon.
I hope it's not a slow launch like it's shown! Why can't it be like Full Throttle at SFMM. Launch that puppy right out of the get go!!!
Is this really what it is going to be?
This is a prediction. Not official. Thanks for your comment!
@@Escape_Designs Okay then.
Hope the video is not accurate because in Zamperlas leak they talk about everyone wish for a rollback but everyone wants a rollback from the top not 1/3 of the way up.
Everyone wants a roll back because you get to launch again.
They want it to be a taller height.
This seems like a very much waste of time and money they really could have just stay with the original ride instead but I’m here for it
This looks real?? Is it anyone? I can't tell anymore.
Ehhhh. I'm still holding out a little hope for the official announcement. Looks a little underwhelming, and the lack of an air time hill/camel back is pretty disappointing.
"The leak is totally legit but the name is not legit." LOL People are a joke. Nothing is legit until Cedar Point makes an official announcement.
If the 1st launch doesnt involve a full rollback, this is a fail in my opinion
Looking forward to the official announcement! We will see then hopefully.
@@Escape_Designs yup, still hoping for the best here
The back spike will be Epic but experiencing that forward then backwards would be much more note worthy
Weak and gentle; this looks like a kids ride now.
Average thoosie when they learn that budgets exist
@@alexcutionman4569 make all the excuses you want; this ride is getting neutered.
@@frankthecat1660 I’m not making excuses sounds like you have too high of expectations. I went into this knowing it would be less punchy more spiky
Just stating facts, this ride is gonna be a shell of its former self; thank God Kingda-Ka is still the same.
@@frankthecat1660 just saying, thank god the only two strata coasters are different. Don’t bash a ride until you ride it. Ka sucks so bad it’s not even funny.
Yikes I hate to say it but atm this is looking like an L for cedar point could be wrong though.
I really hate how they called it. Top thrill 2 they should’ve called it top thrill overcharge.
I think it should have been called Polaris relating to the poles of a magnet. The new formula for speed would be using magnetic propulsion first up the north side and back the south side.
dang those launches are pretty weak
It's equivalent to transforming a hypercar into a Beetle.😂😂
Looks boring compared to what it once was. Maybe there will not be the sound of water when it operates. Seemed like it was going to be a water ride.
I think Cedar Point would've been well off by tearing down TTD completely. The new ride seems to only disappoint the general public.
Disappointing
Mid
Polaris won't be the name it has nothing to do with the racing theme there teasing and going with
That roll back is LAME!
Mediocre Thrill Dragster
Crap.
Those launches are pretty lame😕
Dragster was better.
Lame.
CP has for sure ruined one of the greatest rides. It’s a huge boondoggle. What a turd project.
I think it's a waste not to go for the height record
Exactly my thoughts. I mean, how hard would it be to go 40ft taller? 😅
