- In this video, I wanted to show, for beginners, how to operate NoLimits 2; the single-best roller coaster builder for the general public.
While the program may be complicated and certainly not for everyone, it has endless opportunities for building incredible and realistic roller coasters.

So happy to see a newer tutorial. When I was learning the program I always struggled to find a good tutorial, and this video will hopefully make it easier for some people :)
Because of this tutorial, I was able to get NL2 quickly within a week or so and make coasters that aren’t complete garbage.

I think the banking part I was having an issue with tonight and got me frustrated as I was trying to make a fury like element on a hyper coaster for the turnaround. This video really helped me. Yea, a Fury turnaround is quite difficult, since it's shaped in a unique way. It's always good to work your way up to the more difficult tasks.

planco is more theme park management, this is more roller coaster centered. operating, maintaining, sometimes even managing a theme park in some cases
@@FrappeInsider I just want to make a roller coaster with no limits, with real enough graphics so I can ride them in VR.
I like to use this really long straight track I have saved with a vertex at every 10 m (by default, you can just change the size of it when you add it) and then rotate it from each vertex, it makes it very smooth
The sound effects have my cracking up. haha. I used this software YEARS ago and it has come a long way,
Havent played since NoLimits 1, but bought 2 years ago and just never played because I had forgotten how... this is so helpful!

For the straight sections, you can go into top view, select the parts you want straight and then hit 'Straight (Top View)' in Track :)

Very good tutorial, man. I’m not sure if you’ve figured it out by now, but the radius comb is help too how your elements and transitions are. You would line for them to be gradual changes in the radius for smoother elements. For a turn around, such as a turn out of the station, you would want the radius to be consistent. You would do the same with entrance and exits of a lift hill.
Unless you want airtime and certain negative g things like an rmc. Lol.

I had fun watching even though I don't play the game!
I randomly remembered this game after buying it when I was about 10 years old 10 years ago and being absolute lost clueless and deleting the game after opening it once. Now I want to download it again because even though it has a very intimidating feel it doesn’t look too hard
one thing i would have added to this is to talk about the pre fab elements (element tab, add element (i think lol))
just makes a good loop a lot easier to make since you don’t have to do anything

I just got this on Steam. It's great fun in VR. I kind of want to make the dumbest possible roller coaster, with all lateral forces and headward g-forces on inversions.

I just bought this on Steam on a sale, and I like the thought of being able to design my own coasters in a realistic way, but what I'll want to stick to is smaller, family type roller coasters which are more gentle, because I like gentle rides more than thrilling ones.
Coasters that have gentle drops and turns, small hills, and slow speeds. No crazy stuff, just simple layouts with some subtle and gentle thrills. Something for the whole family to ride which doesn't look scary for people who are new to coasters, like I am 🙂
I like making rides that kill the rider. Lol. Just kidding. To me it'd let's see how many inversions we can pump in there legally.

4:00 This is purely for aethetic purposes. It allowes you to create a transfer track with a stationary train that's "removed from track."
4:09 Scripts are for when you want to create custom ride elements such as switchtracks. They're a bit hard to use.

I went into this game thinking it was gonna be like making a coaster in the game "Thrillville Off The Rails" or "Planet Coaster" with simple building mechanics but much more flexible and improved. Holly hell, when I opened the program, I wasn't expecting it to look and feel so... Windows 7ish and "professional"... I felt incredibly lost and intimidated by the program and felt buyers regret. I just wanted a game that lets me make roller coaster's in unlimited sizes for VR fun and that looks real enough but is also user friendly.
I definitely understand your concern. NoLimits is much more of a software than a game, similar to Adobe programs. And like those, it's really straight forward once you get the hang of it. But it definitely has a learning curve
Can you make a Tutorial on the advanced elements in NoLimits like Transfer tracks, Tilt Tracks and Turntables.

Hello! Thanks for the tutorial! Do you know why none of my downloaded coaster are showing up in the “downloaded” section? I’m not sure what happened but I can’t play any of my downloaded parks.
Hmm I'm not sure. I believe downloaded parks are in a Workshop folder somewhere
@@NorthernRidesYaBoi hey! I got it to work, so no problem! I uninstalled it from steam, then redownloaded it. Apparently, my laptop disabled the app to use my files, so when I redownloaded, I had to enable it.

Yes, it should be in Setup somewhere. But if it isn't there, go into the Editor and then under File, Preferences.

I have questions?
1) can you delete track or scenery after it is placed for a while. I founds you could do control z and delete some things, but things I placed Earlier won’t delete. Is there another way I could delete this
2) how do I make queues and paths
You can delete whatever you like by using the "Delete" key on the keyboard after selection the thing you wish you delete :) If you delete the wrong thing, hit Ctrl+Z to get it back.
Unfortunately, I don't quite know how to work with queues and paths. I only work with coasters and basic scenery. I hope you find what you're looking for :)

You just press E while you're in 'Play' until you get the Fly-By-View (look down in the corner). Then use the WASD keys to freely move the camera down to the track
When I move my cursor for the track I can’t get the white line to stop following it whenever I move it so how do I get the white line removed from my cursor

Is it possible to test a coaster before it is finished? (connected to either end of station)
Yup. Just make the final park a 'block brake' and you can test it until that part of the ride

I use the game's in-game recorder :)
In settings, you can see which key activates it. But in this video, I use my normal screen recorder

I don't think you can save in the demo, as it states that your saving options are limited in the demo. So I doubt you could keep that coaster, unfortunately

If there is no block break later on in the layout and the layout isn't finished, that's why.
Add a block brake at the end of the track

Head into File, then Preferences, then View Layout and choose Quad View :)

In the 'Trains' section of Coaster Properties, you can choose textures such as images to put on.
Otherwise, you would need mods
I'm playing the Demo and I can't seem to get the snap to work at all. Snap is checkmarked on in every view (next to the grid button). But the track still won't snap. Does someone know what I should do?
Edit: you didn't seem to specify how to go into track view. Can someone help me that aswell? :)
Maybe the snap is just set to a very small limit in the settings, but otherwise I'm not sure.

How do you manage to work this?
When I was playing the demo, it was fudging my inputs, like 75% of the time.
What do you mean exactly?
I mean when I placed a vertex, it would place it in a seemingly random spot until made a few of them, and that would end up messing with my track. I dunno if this is a problem with the demo or with the full game.

That's because it's the last block section. To make it go further, you need to place a block brake further ahead in the layout.
If you haven't finished the layout, I suggest placing a block brake at the end of the track

@@honkhonk4057 Ah, if the second train sits on the block brake, then the first one can't go forwards. Try to remove a train and check :)

I’m still confused on how to make inversions I tried it and when I try to invert the track 360 degrees, it just stays at 0
That's because you need it at 180°.
360° is a full rotation, but inversion happens at around 180°

After you've made a track, you can find it the same place as Perspective, Top View, etc. :)

If you hit the F7 key, then you can turn off the rider shake camera effect. Try that :)

Click on the window and then move with the WASD keys and the mouse 🙂

@@jayrockhammer Hmm that's tricky. In that case, try to check out your control settings in the game and see if anything is preventing you from using the mousepad. I'm afraid I'm not too experienced with this issue

Hit the check where it says 'Snap' in all windows you want to use it.
Then you can change how big the snap should be under 'Prefences'.
If it doesn't work, try making the snap distance higher
Tried to make a Schwarzkopf catapult, looked like shit. The thing pulled 14gs and the loop was 10 ft tall

The worst thing of the de.o or the downside of it it only allows you to have 10 vertices on a park or coaster
Fun fact when i played the first time:
When I loaded the editor, I thought it was blocked because of the demo ver, but no, it was because I didn't created a park 🤣

wait. zero gs is floater?
The closer to zero G's, the more perfect the floater. Ejector is typically closer to -1g, give or take

Click on the "Select/Modify" button with the cursor to the left :)

my train wont leave the station even after i hit reset
Have you made sure to have a block brake further ahead?
The coaster needs to have a block at the very end of the track to run if the layout isn't finished
why does my track twist when i try to go up?
Perhaps the roll-point of the end is on another axis. Select the roll point at the end of the track and uncheck the Axis button
I click on the arrow but I see no axis option?
@@Graham2007 You will need to already have the roll-point panel open. You can open it by double-clicking on a roll point somewhere on the track
