It was a really good story based dlc , but we have to rev 8 our way into the next dlcs, every dlc must include new vehicle official from Bethesda,new parts for ship , outpost, and should add atleast one variety of new poi to the base game , take as much as time you would like to make the next dlc but above all must be included as players expect it from you
I like the story I’m having fun! But bruh gimme the loot!!! Where’s the stuff? And the things?😂 2 new guns and a few cosmetics? Wild. Story is enjoyable so far though
I would love Bethesda to add: 1) Space flight between planets! & space POI’s; 2) Optional Slow-mo 'k*ll cams' & combat / stealth finisher animations; 3) Lots of new full companions / romance options (with evil/ neutral morality).
I’m playing on Xbox S. Not saying that Va’ruun lore isn’t “fascinating”, but I really wish the DLC was a heist quest to take down Benjamin Bayu and his fortune and perhaps some of the dirty security guards with the assistance of the Strikers you aided before. Maybe even take control of Neon as a reward.
I cant believe that " the great serpant is in all of us." Like.. bro i wanted to see a massive celestial being messing with space time... Maybe some answers to the giant tremor worm skeletons... I have a no mods lvl 178, 24 unitys.. and get like 2 named weapons.. no unique sweet azz suit... No new ship parts.. no new ships... Sigh* I would have preffered a mass balancing of the unique loot in the main game .. Took me 6 hrs to do every single thing in the dlc.. Oh well..
Man you saying takes me 6h to do that why i decided not to play dlc. I hated starfield after spending $100 for it. I know the dlc doesn’t have the regenerated maps but still this game needs a brand new cyberpunk 2.0. Idc if they gave you cars or whatever they call it the game just so boring and I feel for anyone who did that many hours of the game with same cave and science building on every planet. This game I think is like how people crazy thinking they playing something new to find out and hey done this the 1000 time, if not crazy then maybe like have Alzheimer when I think I did abis when I was younger? Wanted more unique Va'ruun ships based off those previously illustrated in the game in the Vanguard Oreintation Hall and on the "Inside the Viper's Nest" poster (you'll notice the assault helmet is actually the one from this poster. Was hoping there'd be a way to get on friendly terms with the zealots, similar to how we can choose to be alligned with Crimson Fleet. Not really seeing any major changes/consequences related to the major choices made at the end of the questline. Seemingly lack of interesting "unique" legendary weapons/armor. Dazra is the only city without a weapon vendor who sells some sort or named legendary weapon.
I hated how none of the Va'Ruun vendors had any Va'Ruun stuff. Especially the armory that you had to wait to be approved to buy from, then it ends up being like 95% the same base guns, maybe 1 or 2 new Va'Ruun guns, and no Va'Ruun armors , same with the other 2 vendors. And no new Va'Ruun ships, because we already had like 14 Va'Ruun ships we could steal in the base game, so there's just a couple of them at the ship vendor. Also there's a bunch of bugs in Dazra itself, like the big elevator at the spaceport is broken, the button float in mid air and go into the ground when you call it down. All the groats are outside their cages frozen as well. I also hate how none of the new Va'Ruun armor is still not better than the Mark 1 armor you find in the Constellation basement.
@@jasonstearns1044 go to the spaceport , and go through the gate, and go to the big huge lift before the elevator to go up, the lift will be up already , so you have to press the button to bring it down, don't press it. Instead walk towards where the left will be and the two button on the lift itself will be floating in mid air , you can even click them up and down. The lift itself will have the panel but the button are gone. When you call the lift down, the buttons will descend down as if they're part of the lift and go into the ground and disappear. When you call the lift up the buttons come back up from the ground and float in midair again. Try it out and let me know. I'm on series X btw, no mods. And yea the groat by the meat shop is supposed to be inside the cage outside, but it's by the Jinan statue, same with some groat farms, the groats are all outside stuck when they're supposed to be in the pens. And no Va'Ruun weapons or armor at any of the vendors. Idk man
Did I miss a plot point or was house Va'Ruun actually just on some planet somewhere in the known galaxy. Were they cloaked or obscured somehow? There's no way they would've had supply shipments from unaffiliated merchants and Crimson Fleet on their planet without the word getting out that the Va'Ruun homeworld was found unless those Crimson Fleet we fight just got there and couldn't leave or every merchant they've ever worked with just kept their mouths shut.

@@jasonstearns1044 Yeah, because the setting, faction, and characters weren't interesting. That's why I'm asking for an answer from someone who was more invested. I've read every single book and document in TES 3-5 and Fallout 1-4 because I enjoyed the setting. I did it for half of my Starfield playthrough because the world lost what little lustre it had. I'm interested enough to ask someone for an explanation, but not to find one myself. Can you follow my line of thought or do you need more help?
I've found at least one new companion. If you don't kill aa'sceet'er's son (or whatever that dude's name is) you can recruit the smuggler who helps you find him
****SPOILERS**** My biggest complaint was Andreja’s lack of participation in the main story. She barely has anything to say during the story and literally nothing about making it back to her home world finally or that she can be at peace now. Over all it was good, but a lot of different opportunities were missed that would have made it feel like it mattered to bring Andreja along
Her silence was extremely loud, but I guess it fits along with the rest of the companions. Sarah barely participated in the UC questline and Sam only spoke up as much as he did because we'd be sent directly to meet his old colleagues.
Did you try to have any conversations with the high council, apart from the quest dialog? If you do,it'll be about andreja and the choice made on the starstation with her handler...as well as her fate.
Did you even have her affinity up to the point where she tells you she's house var'run? If not, you can't expect her to tell you that all of a sudden .... She's undercover until then .... She's my wife, and she's already confessed everything to me, and i must say, the copy pasted "criticism" of people saying her not taking part in the story..... It is basically their own faults, cause for me shes very expressive about everything I do in the dlc.... So many people haven't even got her affinity up, and are complaining, ike ignoramuses
I've played a couple hours and I'm just bored, just really bored. I feel like I'm being placed in situations instead of having the initiative to engage and move forward.
Thank you for your honest review of the DLC. Teleporting enemies are annoying, just like the Knights in Halo 4 (I really dislike fighting them, more when/if they can heal). The Beeping quest reminds me of Fallout 4's quest. One from the Brotherhood to find the beacons and the other from the main storyline to find the Courser. Based on what others have shared, this DLC seems average. It's okay but not great, therefore it might be better to wait for a sale to get it. However, I think many people already own it as they bought the premium edition of the game.
100 percent all achievements and the DLC in just about 6 hours, made the more humane choices so no unnecessary loss of npc life when applicable. The main quest was better than base game stuff personally but sooo short. I didn't technically pay since I pre-ordered but yeah as a whole I feel that there was potentially so much that could have been but was neglected. Main DLC story 7.5/10 Other stuff 2.5/10
The case of Bethesda is unique, their 2 main problems are the complete lack of talent, they cannot make something new, they are stuck with a 10-20 year old game design mentality, making the same game over and over, and extreme lazyness, not only they dont polish their games, as their "jank" was expected even when they did decent games, but also theyve been dumbing down their own outadated formula since Fallout 4 Other companies have more common issues in the gaming industry such as anticonsumer stuff or chasing the golden goose of "games as a service"
Yeah .. once I've seen "help 3 families" I rolled my eyes .. zero creativity, generic AF. And that goes beyond the story. The location, the weapons, the enemies .. Didn't have any problems with the tracker though .. went in one direction, the distance lowered a bit, wend into another, it lowered a lot .. continued in that direction. Then I spotted POI in distance with same distance as the tracker .. and guess what .. I like the apparels and armors too .. but you can't get them anywhere, only from enemies, and those are not top quality. And after the main quest is over, you don't even have options for that. The armory in the city does not sell any varuun weapons, nor armors. Same with the shop in the city. Same with apparel. Like WTF.
I didnt use cheats, console commands or god mode, but I did turn the difficulty down. It was the one hit KOs that were KILLING ME. (I had no unvisited star systems at the end of my last game and the DLC wouldnt trigger until I went through the unity, so I did shattered space first, without weapons other than what I could pick up on the way - next play through I will do shattered space last and crush it on extreme. No question. The last part of the citadel was fun. I like how the developers make you solve a puzzle under pressure). I kept shooting the blue guys until they actually died (you have to kill each one three times before they stop respawning - also the magpulse has a noticeable effect on the blue guys). [Im Lvl 120 atm]
I beat it twice with a modded and vanilla characters that are in the 200's and 300's...on extreme. I liked it and agree with you about the citadel. 😆 🤣 😂 At first ,I thought...hmmm these mofos are bullet sponges...especially the speaker.
I enjoyed it. Especially the combat. I’ve never burned through that many Emergency Kits, Trauma Kits or Med Packs in 4 playthroughs of the main game as I did in one pass of this DLC. Love it.
Whether the talent at Bethesda has left or the lazy to greed ratio is at an all time high, I am no longer excited for TES 6 in the slightest. Game releases now consist of shallow copy and paste worlds, buyable cosmetics, paid mods, and performance issues. Throw in DEI staffers along with sweet baby inc and you have the shitshow that is the gaming industry.
You know, I dont mind (even enjoy) games that have long expository sections and downtime for micromanaging, but what I ask in return is that the crossways are interesting and that choices have consequences (not in a cartoony villain way, though). Thats really my gripe with starfield's quests. Im more engaged carrying rocks from my ship to the lodge than I am fake choosing what to do in a particular quest.
Well in this day and age it's difficult to please everybody with I think personal expectations being far above reality. This is just a generalized comment about "gamers". I think you bring up some pretty interesting thoughts here Griff. The one area I certainly agree with is Andreja's dialogue. She's been away from her blessed homeworld for years and it seemed liked she was just on another ho hum planet. However I'm just a couple of hours into play. And the lack of new spaceship parts is somewhat disappointing too. Though I wonder if BGS feels this is best left up to modders? Anyhow I'm going to just take my time working my way through this DLC and just be glad for new content. And I look forward to seeing what your next "500 hours" vid holds for this DLC in the future! :)
WOW harsh review. I thought the main Quest was great and I liked learning about the internal politics of house Varuun. as far as the enemies go all you need to do is pop an amp and run like hell no cheats needed. I recommend the DLC. it’s interesting and the new weapons are great.
This review is half baked. Missed most of the content. Loads of stuff had multiple endings. I didnt even have to break the dam. You can take just 1 mcguffin (1 is enough) and leave. There were 2 new crew mates (so far, I haven't finished) and so far I have 2 very cool new outfits. Is this game just more starfield? Yes.

Yes, the quest marker stuff is not great, especially on the quest you highlighted. I have not finished the dlc yet and I am enjoying it. I actually like the granular npc details. I feel like the Varuun need to be fleshed out as actual people because base game largely paints them so 1 note through the zealots. I will replay this and I have faith that some of the clunkier aspects will be fixed as we go. I have been running it on my 190 level character with mods and some of the fights so far have been intense, but not fatal. We'll see when I replay it on my achievement friendly character that is only NG+1 how it goes. I hosed myself out of some Andreja dialog by not having her affinity higher when I started. I feel like the dlc is a solid B so far.
Tbh if they dont hit elderscrolls 6 out of the park bethesda is dead to me with how low effort starfield feels like it scares me for the future of bethesda just scraping by because microsoft bought them
@@papifrancisco The only content added was a short story on a new world. Compared to most other DLC’s added by Bethesda, they create and implement new game mechanics, I.e. Vampire Lord in Skyrim or Bandit Camp Expansion and take over in Fallout 4: Nuka World

The issue is the lack of density and centuries of the Va'ruun inhabiting this place and only managing to create one city and a smattering of disconnected installations around it. Skyrim and Fallout have roads the demonstrate the fact that people actually live in and travel through these areas. Traveling the countryside in skyrim meant taking roads that other people travel just like the player and the world was designed such that even though you could run somewhere in a straight line, following a road was valid and sensible too. In Starfield, they constantly have you running in a straight line through like-same open terrain.
its really sad to see the level of thought behind world design take such a steep hit in this game when id argue even f76 had a good map. i hope they see this game as the swing-and-miss it is.@@TheNotSoLoneWanderer

DLC is usually cut from the original release to get ppl to pay more.. starfield shows all it has to offer in the first hours you play it.. no surprise to see more of the same predictable content.. i persoanlly enjoy it but its definitely NOT what we all hoped it was gonna be.. lol, they gave us mod options for the players to do all the work..

of the 6 new weapons, 4 of them are literally reskins of base game items. the laser minigun is a remodel of the microgun, but at least that wasnt a reskin. the only fully new gun is that plasma rocket launcher thing.
Search the camp, wasted 20 minutes. 2nd time around 45 seconds. Ran the expansion modded, now doing it for achievements with less frustration given what I’ve learned.
But is it worth the money is the true story, one poi that the developers actually tried to make alike Skyrim for feel and looks. Very few new features or content basically all just reused assets. The quests are way to close together, few new unique items all recolours with like 2 or 3 new weapons/clothing/armour. The lack a feeling of your choices having a impact cluelessly, imo as I finished in 4 hrs on my level 135 character and felt like they didn’t play test this at all, if they did who ever are they getting to do that obviously isn’t a gamer.

Thanks for the review. I was waiting to see a few reviews before even considering buying the DLC, and from what I have seen it is not worth the asking price. I will keep watching reviews and see if that changes, but it does not seem likely. I have, overall , enjoyed the base game, but don't see enough to tempt me to pay more money.
After all the steam reviews, and youtube videos on shattered space. I'm glad I was broke when the DLC came out. I will eventually get it, but I will wait for a Steam sale. No sense paying 30 bucks for what most describe as 5 hours of gameplay.
Size: Same as any other capital city. Voice acting: stiff as cardboard and lifeless. Quest design and gameplay: Skyrim with no markers or Morrowind with wrong directions coupled with "Bethesda Magic" Deserves the 4/10 rating. decent, but requires console commands and or save scumming to get through it.
There are 2 new crewmembers. You clearly haven't played the DLC... two full new crewmembers with skills and as full followers... with quests. Also, you need to read the lore in the quests.
I will say that the mission where you're pinging the tracker was implemented way better than similar missions like Hunter/Hunted in Fallout 4. Also, as for Andreja's lines, some people do have clips of special conversations with her about being back in Dazra. In my own playthrough, I was never able to trigger these. I'm told you need max affinity with Andreja, but I had that and still couldn't trigger the conversations. The combat encounters are busted, though. I kind of hate that I need to lean so heavily on Phased Time to stand a chance against the huge hordes that are thrown at you in some missions, which just makes fights feel like they're constantly swinging between "too hard" and "too easy."
I'm sorry, but it has taken me four hours just to get through the space station and become Chosen. From what I've seen so far, if you got through the quest lines in four hours, it's hardly a surprise you felt lost. My main *expectation* is a lore dump. I could care less about getting a laser sword, though to be honest I've already gotten *several* new weapons and for the first time, I'm actually considering putting a heavy in my slot. I'm also liking the new armors, as well. If you've played Elder Scrolls games, you can't miss the Dunmer vibes. If you have a classical education it's hard to miss the obvious Judeo-Christian connections to ancient Israel and Judaism. If you are well read in classic science fiction there's no escaping the Arakis vibe of Va'ruun'kai. Most Bethesda games depend on what *you* bring in for depth. This game is that and more so. Teleporting enemies is, frankly, a "you" problem. The simple truth is, we're seeing the similar abilities as to what we use thrown back in our faces. So far, I've been doing fine on Extreme settings and have no plans on scaling back as of yet. I have found that I've had to adjust tactics at times. I will close with, if you've played BGS games in the past, you should know better than to ask, "Is this it?"
did you play the campaign at all? the “blue people??” The game explains what these “blue people” are. You don’t need cheats to beat the game. The game is balanced and it’s fine. This only illustrates what’s wrong with the people that are reviewing Starfield. I beat Shattered Space and went into it on my 4th playthrough. It WAS punishing difficulty.. for NG+++, but guess what.. by using my powers.. I was able to get through it without much difficulty. Googling, cheats, etc… if you play right.. it’s not needed. That mission.. is like a detective mission..it’s actually one I enjoyed because it was different. You can also fast travel back to where you need to go. I think 7.5 or 8 out of 10 is fair. I did have custom dialogue with Andreja.. but as Griff said… other times I would talk to her and it was the same canned dialogue choices. During the missions.. she consistently had new things to say.. but I was expecting more..it’s her home world after all. I really enjoyed Shattered Space.. playthrough of the campaign took me around 15 hours with no side missions.. I’ll go back for those.
So far it's like shivering isles dlc from oblivion, and when you were done there was a whole more vanilla world to return to. I always kept a save so I was ready to just replay that dlc tbh as it felt like it was it's own little game same here. But they aren't done yet, so if more of these are added they might take a few extra risks mabey have locations across space, or mix in more space content. I personally found lots of high level space battles ect in the main game, but many players who quit don't even know about that stuff as it's optional.
Was surprised they have Chunks Groat bearing in mind they have been isolated for so long.😃 Looted a nice Va’ruun jade outfit with scarf that I’ve now given to Andreja. Looks very Dune ish.
Odd you were having troubles in the missions, Im lvl 302 now and changed my game to extreme a few weeks back and i still just about insta kill mobs with all the ridiculous weapons I use from some very nice mods. I did the Dam mission this morning and killed the phantoms in a single shot every time, BUT I dont think you can actually kill them, they just respawn. I will say though that DLC was obviously developed before the Rev-8 came into being as the area around Dazra is not Rev-8 friendly. The Va'ruun culture though gives me a mix of, Vulcan, Klingon and Romulan vibes. Being that they have been so isolated, I was hoping for more unique Va'ruun ship designs from the vendor in Dazra, but he has all the same ships we've so in game and even selling settled systems ships.
When i landed on the planet and talked to the guy with the red mullet. I then saved and quit for a break and looked up reviews on UA-cam and most are saying its pretty bad. I dunno if i wanna play it. I really thought it would be better than the base game and have plenty of gear like dragonborn.
@@jibjub7047 Dawnguard had no gear, but atleast it gave you something awesome to become a vampire lord. Why couldn't they given us more powers like those phantoms. Are starborn could of had a buff using the phantom ability. This DLC be a 12 dollars.
@@scarletina5137 and new spells and a new monstrous transformation and new ammunition and new consumables and it changed all the vampiric characters in the base game and new random events and the most detailed companion in the game and dog companion and I think you could have an armored troll companion
Yeah I just didn't have a good feeling about it so am waiting for more expansions, as with expansions comes (potentially) other major changes. Steam apparently already installed it via an update, but I'll wait until the second or third/ final expansion is out. Bethesda games tend to have 2-3 expansions. I launched the game, twice, in the past 3 months, for the first time since I beat it (around this time last year) but each time kind of felt like a chore, as I found i was forcing myself to play. If I had to describe it? It is as though it is the classic "Jack of all trades" and yet? Master of none, in that it doesn't go "spacey" enough for my interest in the setting/ theme of things, but also doesn't go "classic Bethesda" enough and also seeming to lack the NPC schedule system, where shop owners get up, walk to work and open shop, walk over to the fire to turn a stew, eat an apple, etc.
@mickey3448 It would be more dynamic if the other factions like the freestar collective or say the spacers were trying to take advantage of the situation 🤔 the freestar collective trying open a dialogue first to undermine the UC and spacers flooding in to pillage technology for themselves. Escalating into all conflict and having an impact on settled system, the choices you make!
Is it common practice to know the achievements of the dlc before you buy it nowadays ? i only have access to the game pass version on xbox and it clearly list all dlc achievements .
I thought all the dialogs with the different factions just went on and on and on, before you could advance and get a quest. I once stopped the dialog, after nothing had happened and when I started again it went back to the beginning. Making a save when you discover something is a good idea, as some of the actual checkpoints are few and far between. It is frustrating to die and then have to redo almost the whole quest over. I got killed at the campsite and was sent right back to the bar to talk to people all over again and now I have to trek back to the campsite and find everything again.
Yet you keep playing it, and come to UA-cam to watch videos about it. Yeah, right you’re just posting this so that you can get thumbs up you know you play it you play it every day and you love playing it. You can’t wait to get back on it be truthful.

1 year for a mid story and 5 new weapons is not good idk what type of games u play but if u think thats good enough effort when the same company made the far harbor dlc in less time u might need to rethink 😂

I took andreja with me , thinking that it would be the right move . But if I do the same thing again I think I'll just go solo . That way I can explore some of the other options without her getting all pissy with me . I was simply following the directions from one of the people and it ended up making her get all hostile . If she didn't think it was a good idea she should have spoke up at the moment I was given the quest . Judgemental never done a thing wrong in their lives companions is by far the worst thing about this game . Nobody is perfect everybody has made mistakes . And when you join Sara gives you a spiel about how everyone is their own conscience and as long as you don't bring UC security to the lodge . Everything should be cool , what a lie . She can't wait to jump down your throat and treat you like a criminal . If I have to see the lines Sarah didn't like that one more time . I'm not going to bring her along anymore .
Anyone on Xbox start stuttering in cydonia, neon, the well, and neon after the dlc dropped? My dlc runs perfectly fine now but the original cities stuttering every 3 seconds
If you're complaining about the stories, the teleporting enemies and whatnot,then you didn't pay attention to anything being said from the start of it all. It all ties together, and it all ties together with events before shattered space. There's even more Andreja dialog and dialog regarding her and stuff before shattered space. Y'all can't cry about wanting backstories and details and then cry when you get them. 😆 🤣 😂 Give it a rest already.... You're wrong about the dam quest,the scaled citadel and other things. There's multiple choice for every single thing you are tasked with doing in shattered space,from the get-go and every choice you make alters what comes next. I've already beaten twice on extreme difficulty with a level 230+ and a 300+ character...one modded and one vanilla. Personally, I liked it and yes,some of the dialog stuff can be boring,but all of it has to do with past,current and future events....including the dam quest. Anyways,y'all wanted more details,more backstories and well,more everything....now you have it and are still crying about stuff. Smh 😆 😆

I don't understand what people are seeing but the new world looks fucking ugly. I feel like it was heavily inspired by cyberpunk's the phantom liberty but the colours are just not as vibrant as cyberpunk and the colours are washed out. I was expecting a densely populated community like the well in new atlantis
Almost everything in the DLC are reused assets. Very few new weapons or armors. The story is alright but it genuinely boggles my mind that this is a DLC released by a Triple A company.

Gotta admit im fairly disappointed in the dlc, weve had to wait a long time for this and if all they can give us is 2 new weapons (and im being overly fair with saying that) and the rest are re skinned, plus re skinned clothes (okay some are new) but only 2 ive found so far and one new space suit im not very impressed. The Redeemed are tough. Got Vulture sniper rifle with 721 dmg and had to shoot them about twelve times to take them out. Best tactic is just keep your distance as only have melee weapons similiar to a cutlass.

Ok, pretty noticeable that you rushed through the DLC. The kelp village/farm got flooded, a little before choosing you can read on the terminals notes explaining that this could happen. After doing it you can see the difference and population depression. You dont need to remember the names of anybody, just the main villain and the grandfather. The 3 houses are easier to remember their distinct philosophy and only that is important. ---- Oh and why sometimes u can't kill an enemy in the DLC? It's is because isn't meant to, many parts are about fleeing, not fighting. ---- The beep part you don't need to listen the beep. If you look at your own recordings you can see it tells the distance from the target, then after you know the direction, you can just move the amount distance... and it took me 10 seconds to see a dead Blue creature on the ground.
Was kinda hoping there'd be a way to make them friendly like we can with the crimson fleet, especially if siding with House Kadic, but seems that's not the case unless I'm missing something
@mickey3448 It would be more dynamic if the other factions like the freestanding collective or say the spacers were trying to advantage of situation 🤔 the freestar collective trying open a dialogue first to undermine the UC and spacers flooding in to pillage technology for themselves. Escalating into all conflict and having an impact on settled system, the choices you make!
Good review. Most of your criticisms of the DLC are things I felt about the base game. Boring dialog, unfair enemies, dull quests, unclear objectives. I used to be a huge Bethesda fan, and I tried desperately to like Starfield, but it just never rose above a “meh”. I had hoped Shattered Space might redeem the game, but it sounds like exact more of the same. That’s unfortunate.
Wait a minute... First when Starfield drops everyone was like oh the game is too easy and boring.... Now the DLC drop it's way too hard and difficult to play the game now... TF ? It was a really good story based dlc , but we have to rev 8 our way into the next dlcs, every dlc must include new vehicle official from Bethesda,new parts for ship , outpost, and should add atleast one variety of new poi to the base game , take as much as time you would like to make the next dlc but above all must be included as players expect it from you

Not saying that Va’ruun lore isn’t “fascinating”, but I really wish the DLC was a heist quest to take down Benjamin Bayu and his fortune and perhaps some of the dirty security guards with the assistance of the Strikers you aided before. Maybe even take control of Neon as a reward.

Wanted more unique Va'ruun ships based off those previously illustrated in the game in the Vanguard Oreintation Hall and on the "Inside the Viper's Nest" poster (you'll notice the assault helmet is actually the one from this poster.
Was hoping there'd be a way to get on friendly terms with the zealots, similar to how we can choose to be alligned with Crimson Fleet.
Not really seeing any major changes/consequences related to the major choices made at the end of the questline.
Seemingly lack of interesting "unique" legendary weapons/armor. Dazra is the only city without a weapon vendor who sells some sort or named legendary weapon.
I hated how none of the Va'Ruun vendors had any Va'Ruun stuff. Especially the armory that you had to wait to be approved to buy from, then it ends up being like 95% the same base guns, maybe 1 or 2 new Va'Ruun guns, and no Va'Ruun armors , same with the other 2 vendors. And no new Va'Ruun ships, because we already had like 14 Va'Ruun ships we could steal in the base game, so there's just a couple of them at the ship vendor. Also there's a bunch of bugs in Dazra itself, like the big elevator at the spaceport is broken, the button float in mid air and go into the ground when you call it down. All the groats are outside their cages frozen as well. I also hate how none of the new Va'Ruun armor is still not better than the Mark 1 armor you find in the Constellation basement.
But you can have chunks products in this long-isolated culture

@@jasonstearns1044 go to the spaceport , and go through the gate, and go to the big huge lift before the elevator to go up, the lift will be up already , so you have to press the button to bring it down, don't press it. Instead walk towards where the left will be and the two button on the lift itself will be floating in mid air , you can even click them up and down. The lift itself will have the panel but the button are gone. When you call the lift down, the buttons will descend down as if they're part of the lift and go into the ground and disappear. When you call the lift up the buttons come back up from the ground and float in midair again. Try it out and let me know. I'm on series X btw, no mods. And yea the groat by the meat shop is supposed to be inside the cage outside, but it's by the Jinan statue, same with some groat farms, the groats are all outside stuck when they're supposed to be in the pens. And no Va'Ruun weapons or armor at any of the vendors. Idk man
Did I miss a plot point or was house Va'Ruun actually just on some planet somewhere in the known galaxy. Were they cloaked or obscured somehow? There's no way they would've had supply shipments from unaffiliated merchants and Crimson Fleet on their planet without the word getting out that the Va'Ruun homeworld was found unless those Crimson Fleet we fight just got there and couldn't leave or every merchant they've ever worked with just kept their mouths shut.

I've read every single book and document in TES 3-5 and Fallout 1-4 because I enjoyed the setting. I did it for half of my Starfield playthrough because the world lost what little lustre it had. I'm interested enough to ask someone for an explanation, but not to find one myself. Can you follow my line of thought or do you need more help?

My biggest complaint was Andreja’s lack of participation in the main story. She barely has anything to say during the story and literally nothing about making it back to her home world finally or that she can be at peace now.
Over all it was good, but a lot of different opportunities were missed that would have made it feel like it mattered to bring Andreja along
Her silence was extremely loud, but I guess it fits along with the rest of the companions. Sarah barely participated in the UC questline and Sam only spoke up as much as he did because we'd be sent directly to meet his old colleagues.
Did you try to have any conversations with the high council, apart from the quest dialog?
If you do,it'll be about andreja and the choice made on the starstation with her handler...as well as her fate.
Did you even have her affinity up to the point where she tells you she's house var'run? If not, you can't expect her to tell you that all of a sudden .... She's undercover until then .... She's my wife, and she's already confessed everything to me, and i must say, the copy pasted "criticism" of people saying her not taking part in the story..... It is basically their own faults, cause for me shes very expressive about everything I do in the dlc.... So many people haven't even got her affinity up, and are complaining, ike ignoramuses

Teleporting enemies are annoying, just like the Knights in Halo 4 (I really dislike fighting them, more when/if they can heal). The Beeping quest reminds me of Fallout 4's quest. One from the Brotherhood to find the beacons and the other from the main storyline to find the Courser.
Based on what others have shared, this DLC seems average. It's okay but not great, therefore it might be better to wait for a sale to get it. However, I think many people already own it as they bought the premium edition of the game.
100 percent all achievements and the DLC in just about 6 hours, made the more humane choices so no unnecessary loss of npc life when applicable. The main quest was better than base game stuff personally but sooo short.
I didn't technically pay since I pre-ordered but yeah as a whole I feel that there was potentially so much that could have been but was neglected.

Yeah .. once I've seen "help 3 families" I rolled my eyes .. zero creativity, generic AF. And that goes beyond the story. The location, the weapons, the enemies ..
Didn't have any problems with the tracker though .. went in one direction, the distance lowered a bit, wend into another, it lowered a lot .. continued in that direction. Then I spotted POI in distance with same distance as the tracker .. and guess what ..
I like the apparels and armors too .. but you can't get them anywhere, only from enemies, and those are not top quality. And after the main quest is over, you don't even have options for that.
The armory in the city does not sell any varuun weapons, nor armors. Same with the shop in the city. Same with apparel. Like WTF.
I didnt use cheats, console commands or god mode, but I did turn the difficulty down. It was the one hit KOs that were KILLING ME. (I had no unvisited star systems at the end of my last game and the DLC wouldnt trigger until I went through the unity, so I did shattered space first, without weapons other than what I could pick up on the way - next play through I will do shattered space last and crush it on extreme. No question. The last part of the citadel was fun. I like how the developers make you solve a puzzle under pressure).
I kept shooting the blue guys until they actually died (you have to kill each one three times before they stop respawning - also the magpulse has a noticeable effect on the blue guys). [Im Lvl 120 atm]
I beat it twice with a modded and vanilla characters that are in the 200's and 300's...on extreme. I liked it and agree with you about the citadel. 😆 🤣 😂

I enjoyed it. Especially the combat. I’ve never burned through that many Emergency Kits, Trauma Kits or Med Packs in 4 playthroughs of the main game as I did in one pass of this DLC. Love it.
Whether the talent at Bethesda has left or the lazy to greed ratio is at an all time high, I am no longer excited for TES 6 in the slightest. Game releases now consist of shallow copy and paste worlds, buyable cosmetics, paid mods, and performance issues. Throw in DEI staffers along with sweet baby inc and you have the shitshow that is the gaming industry.
The ambush in the cave, i just ran out. You dont have to kill them all.
That said, i used "phase time" a lot it this DLC

You know, I dont mind (even enjoy) games that have long expository sections and downtime for micromanaging, but what I ask in return is that the crossways are interesting and that choices have consequences (not in a cartoony villain way, though).
Thats really my gripe with starfield's quests. Im more engaged carrying rocks from my ship to the lodge than I am fake choosing what to do in a particular quest.

Well in this day and age it's difficult to please everybody with I think personal expectations being far above reality. This is just a generalized comment about "gamers". I think you bring up some pretty interesting thoughts here Griff. The one area I certainly agree with is Andreja's dialogue. She's been away from her blessed homeworld for years and it seemed liked she was just on another ho hum planet. However I'm just a couple of hours into play. And the lack of new spaceship parts is somewhat disappointing too. Though I wonder if BGS feels this is best left up to modders? Anyhow I'm going to just take my time working my way through this DLC and just be glad for new content. And I look forward to seeing what your next "500 hours" vid holds for this DLC in the future! :)
WOW harsh review. I thought the main Quest was great and I liked learning about the internal politics of house Varuun. as far as the enemies go all you need to do is pop an amp and run like hell no cheats needed. I recommend the DLC. it’s interesting and the new weapons are great.

This review is half baked. Missed most of the content. Loads of stuff had multiple endings. I didnt even have to break the dam. You can take just 1 mcguffin (1 is enough) and leave.
There were 2 new crew mates (so far, I haven't finished) and so far I have 2 very cool new outfits.

Yes, the quest marker stuff is not great, especially on the quest you highlighted. I have not finished the dlc yet and I am enjoying it. I actually like the granular npc details. I feel like the Varuun need to be fleshed out as actual people because base game largely paints them so 1 note through the zealots. I will replay this and I have faith that some of the clunkier aspects will be fixed as we go. I have been running it on my 190 level character with mods and some of the fights so far have been intense, but not fatal. We'll see when I replay it on my achievement friendly character that is only NG+1 how it goes. I hosed myself out of some Andreja dialog by not having her affinity higher when I started. I feel like the dlc is a solid B so far.

@@papifrancisco The only content added was a short story on a new world. Compared to most other DLC’s added by Bethesda, they create and implement new game mechanics, I.e. Vampire Lord in Skyrim or Bandit Camp Expansion and take over in Fallout 4: Nuka World
It won't start for me, tried everything I could think to get it going. I've given up for a while, I hear others are having the same problem, so hopefully they fix it.

The issue is the lack of density and centuries of the Va'ruun inhabiting this place and only managing to create one city and a smattering of disconnected installations around it. Skyrim and Fallout have roads the demonstrate the fact that people actually live in and travel through these areas. Traveling the countryside in skyrim meant taking roads that other people travel just like the player and the world was designed such that even though you could run somewhere in a straight line, following a road was valid and sensible too. In Starfield, they constantly have you running in a straight line through like-same open terrain.

of the 6 new weapons, 4 of them are literally reskins of base game items. the laser minigun is a remodel of the microgun, but at least that wasnt a reskin. the only fully new gun is that plasma rocket launcher thing.
Search the camp, wasted 20 minutes. 2nd time around 45 seconds. Ran the expansion modded, now doing it for achievements with less frustration given what I’ve learned.
But is it worth the money is the true story, one poi that the developers actually tried to make alike Skyrim for feel and looks. Very few new features or content basically all just reused assets. The quests are way to close together, few new unique items all recolours with like 2 or 3 new weapons/clothing/armour. The lack a feeling of your choices having a impact cluelessly, imo as I finished in 4 hrs on my level 135 character and felt like they didn’t play test this at all, if they did who ever are they getting to do that obviously isn’t a gamer.

Thanks for the review. I was waiting to see a few reviews before even considering buying the DLC, and from what I have seen it is not worth the asking price. I will keep watching reviews and see if that changes, but it does not seem likely. I have, overall , enjoyed the base game, but don't see enough to tempt me to pay more money.
After all the steam reviews, and youtube videos on shattered space. I'm glad I was broke when the DLC came out. I will eventually get it, but I will wait for a Steam sale. No sense paying 30 bucks for what most describe as 5 hours of gameplay.

There are 2 new crewmembers. You clearly haven't played the DLC... two full new crewmembers with skills and as full followers... with quests. Also, you need to read the lore in the quests.
I will say that the mission where you're pinging the tracker was implemented way better than similar missions like Hunter/Hunted in Fallout 4.
Also, as for Andreja's lines, some people do have clips of special conversations with her about being back in Dazra. In my own playthrough, I was never able to trigger these. I'm told you need max affinity with Andreja, but I had that and still couldn't trigger the conversations.
The combat encounters are busted, though. I kind of hate that I need to lean so heavily on Phased Time to stand a chance against the huge hordes that are thrown at you in some missions, which just makes fights feel like they're constantly swinging between "too hard" and "too easy."
I'm sorry, but it has taken me four hours just to get through the space station and become Chosen. From what I've seen so far, if you got through the quest lines in four hours, it's hardly a surprise you felt lost. My main *expectation* is a lore dump. I could care less about getting a laser sword, though to be honest I've already gotten *several* new weapons and for the first time, I'm actually considering putting a heavy in my slot. I'm also liking the new armors, as well.
If you've played Elder Scrolls games, you can't miss the Dunmer vibes. If you have a classical education it's hard to miss the obvious Judeo-Christian connections to ancient Israel and Judaism. If you are well read in classic science fiction there's no escaping the Arakis vibe of Va'ruun'kai. Most Bethesda games depend on what *you* bring in for depth. This game is that and more so.
Teleporting enemies is, frankly, a "you" problem. The simple truth is, we're seeing the similar abilities as to what we use thrown back in our faces. So far, I've been doing fine on Extreme settings and have no plans on scaling back as of yet. I have found that I've had to adjust tactics at times.
I will close with, if you've played BGS games in the past, you should know better than to ask, "Is this it?"
did you play the campaign at all? the “blue people??” The game explains what these “blue people” are. You don’t need cheats to beat the game. The game is balanced and it’s fine. This only illustrates what’s wrong with the people that are reviewing Starfield. I beat Shattered Space and went into it on my 4th playthrough. It WAS punishing difficulty.. for NG+++, but guess what.. by using my powers.. I was able to get through it without much difficulty. Googling, cheats, etc… if you play right.. it’s not needed. That mission.. is like a detective mission..it’s actually one I enjoyed because it was different. You can also fast travel back to where you need to go. I think 7.5 or 8 out of 10 is fair. I did have custom dialogue with Andreja.. but as Griff said… other times I would talk to her and it was the same canned dialogue choices. During the missions.. she consistently had new things to say.. but I was expecting more..it’s her home world after all. I really enjoyed Shattered Space.. playthrough of the campaign took me around 15 hours with no side missions.. I’ll go back for those.
So far it's like shivering isles dlc from oblivion, and when you were done there was a whole more vanilla world to return to.
I always kept a save so I was ready to just replay that dlc tbh as it felt like it was it's own little game same here.
But they aren't done yet, so if more of these are added they might take a few extra risks mabey have locations across space, or mix in more space content.
I personally found lots of high level space battles ect in the main game, but many players who quit don't even know about that stuff as it's optional.
Was surprised they have Chunks Groat bearing in mind they have been isolated for so long.😃 Looted a nice Va’ruun jade outfit with scarf that I’ve now given to Andreja. Looks very Dune ish.
Odd you were having troubles in the missions, Im lvl 302 now and changed my game to extreme a few weeks back and i still just about insta kill mobs with all the ridiculous weapons I use from some very nice mods. I did the Dam mission this morning and killed the phantoms in a single shot every time, BUT I dont think you can actually kill them, they just respawn. I will say though that DLC was obviously developed before the Rev-8 came into being as the area around Dazra is not Rev-8 friendly. The Va'ruun culture though gives me a mix of, Vulcan, Klingon and Romulan vibes. Being that they have been so isolated, I was hoping for more unique Va'ruun ship designs from the vendor in Dazra, but he has all the same ships we've so in game and even selling settled systems ships.

When i landed on the planet and talked to the guy with the red mullet. I then saved and quit for a break and looked up reviews on UA-cam and most are saying its pretty bad. I dunno if i wanna play it. I really thought it would be better than the base game and have plenty of gear like dragonborn.
This was my biggest disappointment was the lack of gear and customization options. Once you leave the DLC area there's nothing new added.
@@jibjub7047 Dawnguard had no gear, but atleast it gave you something awesome to become a vampire lord. Why couldn't they given us more powers like those phantoms. Are starborn could of had a buff using the phantom ability. This DLC be a 12 dollars.

Yeah I just didn't have a good feeling about it so am waiting for more expansions, as with expansions comes (potentially) other major changes. Steam apparently already installed it via an update, but I'll wait until the second or third/ final expansion is out. Bethesda games tend to have 2-3 expansions. I launched the game, twice, in the past 3 months, for the first time since I beat it (around this time last year) but each time kind of felt like a chore, as I found i was forcing myself to play.
If I had to describe it? It is as though it is the classic "Jack of all trades" and yet? Master of none, in that it doesn't go "spacey" enough for my interest in the setting/ theme of things, but also doesn't go "classic Bethesda" enough and also seeming to lack the NPC schedule system, where shop owners get up, walk to work and open shop, walk over to the fire to turn a stew, eat an apple, etc.
I think Bethesda took that glitch out and reintroduced it at a feature. To make it look like they added a feature themselves. 😂

Escalating into all conflict and having an impact on settled system, the choices you make!

Is it common practice to know the achievements of the dlc before you buy it nowadays ? i only have access to the game pass version on xbox and it clearly list all dlc achievements .
I thought all the dialogs with the different factions just went on and on and on, before you could advance and get a quest. I once stopped the dialog, after nothing had happened and when I started again it went back to the beginning. Making a save when you discover something is a good idea, as some of the actual checkpoints are few and far between. It is frustrating to die and then have to redo almost the whole quest over. I got killed at the campsite and was sent right back to the bar to talk to people all over again and now I have to trek back to the campsite and find everything again.

I took andreja with me , thinking that it would be the right move . But if I do the same thing again I think I'll just go solo . That way I can explore some of the other options without her getting all pissy with me . I was simply following the directions from one of the people and it ended up making her get all hostile . If she didn't think it was a good idea she should have spoke up at the moment I was given the quest . Judgemental never done a thing wrong in their lives companions is by far the worst thing about this game . Nobody is perfect everybody has made mistakes . And when you join Sara gives you a spiel about how everyone is their own conscience and as long as you don't bring UC security to the lodge . Everything should be cool , what a lie . She can't wait to jump down your throat and treat you like a criminal . If I have to see the lines Sarah didn't like that one more time . I'm not going to bring her along anymore .

If you're complaining about the stories, the teleporting enemies and whatnot,then you didn't pay attention to anything being said from the start of it all. It all ties together, and it all ties together with events before shattered space. There's even more Andreja dialog and dialog regarding her and stuff before shattered space.

You're wrong about the dam quest,the scaled citadel and other things. There's multiple choice for every single thing you are tasked with doing in shattered space,from the get-go and every choice you make alters what comes next.
I've already beaten twice on extreme difficulty with a level 230+ and a 300+ character...one modded and one vanilla.
Personally, I liked it and yes,some of the dialog stuff can be boring,but all of it has to do with past,current and future events....including the dam quest.
Anyways,y'all wanted more details,more backstories and well,more everything....now you have it and are still crying about stuff. Smh 😆 😆

I don't understand what people are seeing but the new world looks fucking ugly. I feel like it was heavily inspired by cyberpunk's the phantom liberty but the colours are just not as vibrant as cyberpunk and the colours are washed out. I was expecting a densely populated community like the well in new atlantis

Almost everything in the DLC are reused assets. Very few new weapons or armors. The story is alright but it genuinely boggles my mind that this is a DLC released by a Triple A company.
It does seem like a large mission that could have been a mod.

Gotta admit im fairly disappointed in the dlc, weve had to wait a long time for this and if all they can give us is 2 new weapons (and im being overly fair with saying that) and the rest are re skinned, plus re skinned clothes (okay some are new) but only 2 ive found so far and one new space suit im not very impressed.

The Redeemed are tough. Got Vulture sniper rifle with 721 dmg and had to shoot them about twelve times to take them out. Best tactic is just keep your distance as only have melee weapons similiar to a cutlass.

3 hours for the scientists couple fetch quests. Fighting vortex abominations, trying to make ground on high rocky walled terrain. I like itit. I think it will be good over all.

Ok, pretty noticeable that you rushed through the DLC.
The kelp village/farm got flooded, a little before choosing you can read on the terminals notes explaining that this could happen. After doing it you can see the difference and population depression.
You dont need to remember the names of anybody, just the main villain and the grandfather. The 3 houses are easier to remember their distinct philosophy and only that is important.
---- Oh and why sometimes u can't kill an enemy in the DLC? It's is because isn't meant to, many parts are about fleeing, not fighting.
---- The beep part you don't need to listen the beep. If you look at your own recordings you can see it tells the distance from the target, then after you know the direction, you can just move the amount distance... and it took me 10 seconds to see a dead Blue creature on the ground.

Good review. Most of your criticisms of the DLC are things I felt about the base game. Boring dialog, unfair enemies, dull quests, unclear objectives. I used to be a huge Bethesda fan, and I tried desperately to like Starfield, but it just never rose above a “meh”. I had hoped Shattered Space might redeem the game, but it sounds like exact more of the same. That’s unfortunate.
