I honestly never got to interact with the slavers in FO3, didn't know how to trigger their faction quests without murdering them.
Kids in the den in Fallout 2 really didn't help.

Honestly, I would've LOVED it if they gave the leader of Little Lamplight a mini nuke launcher or a big nasty turret or something. It'd force the player to respect them at least a little, explain their cockiness, and better justify why the hoards of nearby super mutants and raiders leave them alone.
They are cocky because they have seen the code, it says they are immortal.
I'd say that mccready aiming a plasma or laurie at you is probably pretty good reason to respect him. Especially from a defensible position since most you come across do not threaten from cover he already would be showing better strategic capabilities. Admittedly I do not remember the encounter though so...

Kinda related. I once DL'd the Settler/Raider kids mod for 4. But didn't realise I needed to download the mod that made them... Well, y'know. Poppable. I ended up being chased by murderous Rugrats over half the Commonwealth. TLDR: Check your mod requirements. Lol
I downloaded the same mod! I was clearing Gwinnett beer brewery in a tactical style with good old AKM, but when I was crouching, sum kid broke my leg, but got 7.62fied in the face, cuz I had killable children already

Child at Heart is literally one of the first perks I pick up solely due to my experiences trying to get into Little Lamplight. Also, I've never even done the Fallout 4 Maccready quests. Couldn't stand the thought of being around him that much.
He’s actually a decent dude. He likes it when you steal and his quest isn’t super long. His perk is worth it too.
He's actually great in FO4.
