Well they were a courier for years before they got the platinum chip job. It wasn't just a one and done type thing

Maria the gun he uses and the bullets the gun uses are also pretty pathetic, think Doc Mitchell mentions it, there's a reason that shooting that gun when you get it from Benny it feels like shooting a pea shooter

New Vegas is my second favorite game. I've replayed it about 600 times. I can confirm this is a one-to-one exact recreation of the entire game.

You can do the casinos with 7 luck but it just takes a lot longer time. Also thanks for not making me feel weird about the two bears hi fiving. I always wished that was an option.
Yeah you’re not the only one, a good majority of players thought and wanted the same thing haha. There is a mod that makes that an option in case you ever wanna add that!

The only way to go above them in a worthwhile way is to get a big win right before the limit, and it's easier to set yourself up to do that with high luck. Gamorra, Tops, and Ultra-Lux are 9000, 10000, and 15000, respectively.

That Tops part is so true! Tops lore-wise is said to be the best of the casinos while Gomorrah is the worst. But in the actual game, Tops is the stalest piece of bread among the casinos while Gomorrah is a literal Devil's foodcake.

Dude I love how the first half of the game feels like a (Clint Eastwood/John Wayne) Western revenge film. I love the Journey in the first half with Primm, Novac, and the Mojave outpost. Even the showdown with Benny. I always give the evidence to Swank and I fight Benny in his apartment. However the only thing I didn’t like in the second half of the story is that there isn’t much of a solid reason for the courier to stick around once he delivers a platinum chip. In other words he really doesn’t have much of a connection to Hoover Dam. It would’ve been better if he was trapped in the Mojave because of a extreme reason.
People rave about this game’s “story” but the story basically ends after you confront Benny in the first 3-4 hours. Everything after that is just random events that you participate in for no reason.
@@MarionRelics THANK YOU! Oh my gosh you nailed it man! That’s how I feel every time I play this game. Now don’t misunderstand me, I love NV. It’s a great game but the story feels a little dull in the second half(and very repetitive in certain areas). Also in my opinion they should’ve shown Lanius a little bit more in the story. Kind of like Frank Horrigan you know? Actually what would’ve been good, is that we see him in Nipton, not Vulpes. One of the few scripted moments in the game(In other words you can’t kill him. Yet)
@@MarionRelics Whats a bit funny is that originally there was a planned ending to just leave, but it was cut due to the short dev cycle; just like the post-game and partial representation of Legion territory (Arizona) were cut.
Your reasons for doing any of the quests are your own, which is part of the whole Role Playing aspect. A loyal NCR citizen, a Frumentarii working as an insider agent, a psychopath who only wants for themselves, or an idealist who wants to see humanity shine again: all valid reasons to join up with one of the various factions.
If your character has no interest in doing the Dam, then you don't do it. Same as any other questline in an RPG.
The reasoning for "why should I" can pretty broadly be applied to ANY quest. In Fallout 1, why bother getting that water chip? In F2, why bother going to blow up the Enclave when you could just walk away and live somewhere else? Why would you bother doing any of the shit in Fallout 3? Who cares about the kid in Fallout 4?
See how reductive that is? If you're not playing a role in a Role Playing Game, then poking the narrative for not being some world ending event that DEMANDS you to partake is quite limiting and silly. You could just not do it, which is actually a main narrative point in Lonesome Road (and all of the DLCs really); The Courier just seems unable to not put themself in these situations and places when the opportunity arises.
@@Steel-101 The story is of a person put into a unique situation. You awaken in the house of a small-town doctor, the only remaining memory in your head being of your own murder. If you follow the prescribed route to New Vegas, you learn much of the Mojave and you meet and learn of it's people. For a person with no memories this journey would be impactful, possibly life defining. By the time you hand that platinum chip to Mr. House you've gained influence and opportunity, met Yes Man, BoS, and possibly many more. For the Courier the Mojave could have been the only home they'd ever known. Choosing a side and fighting for it would only be natural in a situation like this. So, it could be argued, before the delivery of the chip was completed the story was not our wholly our own. We are simply completing a task that had been given to us before our rebirth and avenging our own attempted murder. However, after the delivery of the chip, the choice is ours. The story becomes wholly ours and we are in a position to influence the wasteland in ways that could change it forever.
@@ayyyemate3131 OK first of all the Mojave is not the couriers home at all. The divide was and plus he is a free spirit he has traveled all over the West Coast. Also yes I understand about the whole freedom of player choice but without a solid reason for the protagonist to stick around in the story it feels kind of empty. Fallout 1-4 handled it a bit better in that area. Right after you leave the casino the NCR and Vulpes just run up to you and say “help us”. However why should the protagonist care? In other words what’s forcing him to want to stick around? The first two games in this franchise give a solid reason for the protagonist to stick around but at the same time it gives a massive amount of choice(even more than Vegas). That’s why I mentioned that there should be an Extreme reason to keep the courier in the Mojave. Like a lockdown(due to the war) or something. Kind of like how it was handled during the Spider-Man PS4 game. That’s the only idea I can think of right now.
