Robin was 17 yrs old when he took the lead in writing this song with his brothers. Released in 1967. And no, they are not from Massachusettes- taking liberties of fiction that writers take to create a story. 😊 Great reaction!❤
It's amazing how they can take a song with nonsensical lyrics and make it sound brilliant and make your heart break at the same time. It never matters what they say it's how they sing it. And I realized when watching you that you "get it". Yeah welcome to the BeeGee's club. LOL
I am enjoying the Bee Gees selections and your reaction and comments. I would like your reaction to the Bee Gees tribute, Don't throw it all away our love.
According to Barry this was an anti flowerpower song of the 60s....sort of when everyone was going to San Francisco they were talking about returning to Massachusetts....to their 'home'.....and no they were not American but British born spent 9 of their formative years in Australia....... .
Love your reactions. Would love to hear 1975 midnight special performances of Nights on Broadway, You Win Again, For whom the Bell Tolls, This is where i came in, to love somebody.
The BeeGees didn't write this for themselves to record. Massachusetts had no personal meaning. Hippies were all doing songs about heading to San Francisco so they wrote one about going back home to the East Coast. I think it's one of their better songs.
Ok I answered your question. Can you react to an interview with The Bee Gees by Michael Parkinson the one when they are younger and see them with guitars. I would love to do a PayPal to but looked before and not find one. I will double down if also do For Whom the Bell Tolls. Outside in NYC. They wrote it for there brother who had recently past away
Born on the Isle of Man , moved to Manchester and emigrated to Australia in 1958. Returned to the UK in 1967
They had never even been to Massachusetts when they wrote this. Robin liked the sound of it. They were English born Australian raised.
That is Robin singing the lead. Fantastic voice!!

Classic Bee Gees song. Not from Massachusetts. From England.
thanks, Rad! this is my boy ROBIN.. and (and no.. they are Brits).. doesn't mean they can't sing about other locations.. right?
There are longer versions of this song, but yes, great song!!
1 - how did I miss this? 2 - how come only 13 likes? 3 - I love Robin's voice and this song 4 - they're not from there, I forget the backstory.
The Bee Gees are British Rad....They lived in Australia for a while.

Not from Massachusetts. I believe it was their first number 1 in usa
born in UK but moved to Australia as youngsters. Must be a ex gf from Massachusetts! :)
They wrote it for someone else that tragically died before recording it
