Join me while I take a detailed look at this Norwegian Army "Arctic field ration". What will it contain? Will its contents fill you on a cold Norwegian night? and have I just discovered my new favourite meal?... Watch as I describe the contents tastes, smells and textures.....Is this your Idea of pleasure in a bowl or would it be your worst nightmare?...I know which I think!
I'll tell you this; lyophilization is the future. The energy requirements and the time it takes makes it expensive, but in return it removes all food loss and I believe that compensates, particularly considering the weight loss. Just last week, I had a steak that had been stored in room temperature for nine years and after half an hour of soaking in water, I cooked it and it tasted just like an industrially frozen steak. Lyophilization even has the potential to be used as an energy battery for the grid, which will makes it even more efficient. I truly believe that this technology is more revolutionary than the home freezer.
That main looked amazing. There are so many great menus available in Norwegian rations. Another great Review!
This is something a regular Norwegian hiker would bring on a mountain trip because of how simple it is to boil water and offcourse it's weight and the space in your pack.

Was it really that good. I got 2 of these, should really get round to it.
The ration seems to be very good however based on US price of $60 with shipping it seems pricey. Also no sugar or creamer for coffee. Hope to try soon! Have a good day.
Hi...Thanks for watching and commenting...agreed...some rations are very expensive to acquire, depending on which country you live. I think the US have some of the highest shipping prices anywhere. To ship 1 or 2 rations from the US to the UK is around $70. I have purchased a whole case of US rations, from the UK, for around $100 including the shipping....these must have already shipped to the UK....Makes no sense?...hope you acquire one to try soon, they are good.....ATB...Mick
In Norway theese costs about 10 dollars a pack (single dinner ration) at xxl.no. They probably also ship international but i know that some states doesn't allow some types of meat. You'd need to contact your local PO for that info first :) Cheers from the North!
So my tip is to just order main dishes, and I'll rather send you the sides, as they also sell at the same store. Don't waste your money on army rations as they sell the exact same stuff on shelf.
Yum! The brownie bar is one of my favourites. I would buy I case of them if I could. I agree the cinnamon bun, very dry. Thanks as always, keep them coming.

Looked quite tasty but shipping to the US that would be a 60.00 dollar US meal with shipping I did manage to get 6 French RCIR 24 hour rations for 140 dollars with shipping. Enjoyed the review Sir stay safe and have a wonderful Holiday Season.

I bought 7 Real entrees from BaseCampFoods in the UK a couple weeks ago. Two were Kebab Stew.

I recently bought one. At this time of year animals where I live tend to try to move in. Some are pretty big and determined. One got my ration but I recovered the peach drink and main.

Drytech lager fantastisk mat. Lyofilisering er veldig kostbart, så maten er dyr, men ellers ville jeg ha hatt kjelleren full. Jeg hadde et godt lager i 2019, så da pandemien slo, så valgte jeg å ikke gå i butikken men heller leve på Drytech. Tre måneder med Drytech var ikke noe problem overhodet, annet enn prisen.
Not long now befare u dont Get this stuff and more since the Norwegian military did renewed the contract whit the company making this one

The military is just a customer like I am. The Norwegian people is a far greater customer and the export possibilities are endless, particularly in the US. I had three months supply of their food when the pandemic hit. It gave me the time to calmly assess the situation and adapt. A lot of people are waking up to the necessity of being able to care for yourself for a while, giving society time to respond to an emergency. They're a private company, not on the capitalism, so I wonder why you would think their future was endangered. As a happy customer, I certainly don't. If I could buy stocks, I would take up credit debt to do it.
