Some friends just get violent when they feel you're mothering them. If that's the case, not my brother's keeper. But then that friend would mostlikely have slaughtered those dumbass kids. Haha. Street justice knows knows no leniency.
It wasn’t common at the time to stop someone drinking and driving In fact even the cops would usually let you go, and youd be made a social outcast for suggesting it was wrong, because everyone in that restaurant would have driven home that night, many of them also drinking Different times had different social protocols Many harmful things that are socially accepted now will be criticized one day too and people in the future will pretend they’d have said something but in reality, harmful people are rarely confronted by the people around them
My dad was drunk in 1982 and ran his car off the road thru a fence. When the cops got there they asked him if he thought he was good enough to drive home the last 10 miles. Of course he said yes and luckily made it home. I sure miss the good old days. 🤣
Old school country singer Johnny Paycheck wrote a song in the 1970's called "I'm Gonna Drink and Drive That Woman Off Of My Mind" He said it was a true story where his woman left him & he couldn't stand being alone in the house so ole Johny fills up his pickup, went to the liquor store for booze & got drunk behind the wheel while driving across Tennessee all night long. He said he got pulled over when he hit the other end of the state line, got fined $10 for DUI, which he payed the cop right there & the cop made him pour out his booze & then he let ole Johnny drive all the way back home to the other side of the state! Johnny said he was pissed because that was his last $10 which he planned on buying more booze with so he had to rob the next liquor store so he could keep on drinking & driving that woman off of his mind! I feel like she has served her time because why else would she be resentenced? Juveniles can still recieve life without parole in the state of Michigan. I do not agree with sentencing juveniles to life without parole however and when it comes to adults, only for the worst cases of Murder and Rape.
Not necessarily but i feel like there should be an age of criminal responsibility (I think it should be at 15) and i am against sentencing people who were under the age of 18 at the time to life without parole. And life without parole should only be imposed for the worst cases of murder and rape and should not be a mandatory penalty unless there are compelling aggravated factors that goes much beyond premeditation, it should be determined by the nature of the offence.
I think the condition of the victim needs to be considered. Has the victims condition improved since he was murdered? I see a person who starved his stepchild to death being described as not a bad person. He just made poor decisions. All this being broadcast on television for all to see. In the past people would have been horrified and sickened. They would never have said someone capable of this was anything other than a murderer and a monster. Children grow up in front of the television. Seeing the, oh well, attitude to debauchery and hideous crimes....what can the outcome be, other than what we're experiencing daily?

This is such a sad case. I am not trying to find excuses for her behavior, but she certainly had a terrible upbringing. I believe that must have a significant influence on her behavior and motivations. Thank you for the review, Dr. Grande. I hope you have a wonderful day.❤
The defense team in this case would have definitely wanted someone like YOU on the jury! Countless people in this world may have had a very difficult home environment and upbringing as a child. But the overwhelming majority of them still manage to grow up and lead productive, and “normal” lives. Only a very tiny percentage wind up as cold blooded murderers. In light of the horrific crime that she committed…coupled with her reckless and unruly behavior in prison…she should not have been released from prison.
I agree...I felt sorry for this little gal as well. As a teacher, I see this all too many times today...emotionally absent parenting from mothers. So tragic!
@@vcliburn I agree with Rejane. A person's upbringing absolutely influences the direction of their life and the choices they make. Acknowledging this says nothing about the sentence she should or shouldn't have received - it's just stating a fact.
Yes, it may be a “fact”…but it’s also a GIVEN…no matter who you are! My point is that the defense wants the jury to FOCUS on this in order to gain sympathy…and hopefully a more lenient sentence, a/k/a “mitigation”. Whether you intend to or not, once you start going down that rabbit hole you inevitably wind up “feeling sorry” for the defendant, which is exactly what the defense is looking for!
@@vcliburn The woman is entitled to a fair trial, just like everyone. In any trial and sentencing, all factors need to be taken into consideration, including, in this case, whether and to what extent her upbringing influenced her actions. No doubt this was a horrible case - no arguments from me there - and clearly there's a need for punishment, but you shouldn't let emotions get in the way of justice.
I could have told you someone would end up dead when they moved from Kalamazoo to Muskegon. It's like moving from jail to prison. Yeah you could say there're decent parts of both towns but you don't move to either of them if your life is going great
Prison doesn’t rehabilitate. You leave someone in their for decades with other criminals then let them out on the streets with no coping skills or life skills. Instead of getting therapy, they receive more trauma. Especially someone who enters prison before they’ve even entered adulthood. The system is very flawed and negatively impacts society as a whole.

Sixteen year old child, under the influence of addiction and an older partner. Definitely not beyond redemption after a first offence. Tragic for the victim's family but punitive longterm imprisonment of an abused child is not going to help anyone.
He was drunk, they could have taken all the money and his truck and his clothes and shoes and leave him on the curb, like normal thieves. Now they both know “how it feels to kill a person”.
I think it’s fair to say Amy should’ve been evaluated for release however in her case it should’ve been denied and what ever compensation the gov decided to give her be instantly awarded to the victims family.
I'm wondering if there is a study about child or teen murderers who were released from prison in adulthood? Did most end up committing felonies and other antisocial behaviors again or did they become productive citizens? This would support or belie the notion that by a certain age, the minor who has committed a violent crime has a zero to minuscule chance of being rehabilitated. I have limited knowledge about psychology, but I've read that sociopathic people, with little to no empathy, could be motivated in therapy to change their behavior if they are convinced that there are far more benefits to themselves if they do so.
Hello Dr Grande ❤️....I see you have a little pooch peeking up in your advertisement. He/she is cute. I Always enjoy your analysis of any of your cases. It still amazes me at how people can appear to be a good person when in reality they are a monster.Thank you Doctor, 🇺🇸❤️
The fact she didn't act in Prison appropriately enough to accumulate many infractions makes me question why she was released last August. How will she handle an environment without any formal directions?
I know I could have done something stupid, as a troubled teen, that I could never have been capable of, after about age 20. I had PTSD and would go into fight, flight, or fawn responses but I matured a lot and wasn’t so afraid of the world. Later, working as an advocate of abused youth, a lot of them were under extreme stress, and in turmoil. I don’t know what her situation was…I’m just stating my perspective. Our brains mature a lot, after the age of 16. I think most people who commit serious crimes at that age should be given another chance, unless their history and psychiatric exams show a history of extreme cruelty and lack of empathy. If a person is dangerous, society should be protected. I wish I could be a fly on the wall, when this crime occurred, and see if there was a clear instigator.

Amy had an unfortunate childhood but so do countless others who do not grow up to be killers. The psychologists who felt she should be tried as an adult were spot on which is evidenced by her violations in prison. Amy obviously manipulated her BF because she wanted the money. Regarding the victim: I feel really bad for him, he didn't deserve it, but "A fool and his money soon part ways." It reminded me of Modigliani. How he was intoxicated and buying everyone drinks in a bar just before he was beaten and robbed out on the street.
Well said, and I agree with you 100%. Obviously, the defense side wants us to focus on her difficult childhood in order to gain sympathy and a more lenient sentence. But everything you said rings true.
The only point missed is the part alcohol played. David got too intoxicated to use good judgment and that could be the reason his friends didn’t stop him from leaving the bar while he was that intoxicated. While this isn’t the typical consequence of over-indulging, there are many consequences resulting from both the poor judgment and physical effects of indulging in alcohol to any extent that may not technically be over-indulging.
I’m not sure that anyone thinks they’ll be murdered for getting drunk. …. But in hindsight it would have been better if he’d just sobered up by sleeping in the car. There are plenty of idiots not murdered every day. …..
Yes, he is machinelike in his presentation. One may spit out endless data if one is academically adroit. A very high I.Q., which some criminals have, may reap academic a chievrment through personal motives alone and a mere application of personal will. These two qualities can be seen in people qualifying for diagnoses of NPD and ASPD. What do we , his audience really know about Dr. Grande's Personality? He was drunk, they could have taken all the money and his truck and his clothes and shoes and leave him on the curb, like normal thieves.
Now they both know “how it feels to kill a person”.
I think it’s fair to say Amy should’ve been evaluated for release however in her case it should’ve been denied and what ever compensation the gov decided to give her be instantly awarded to the victims family.
You are awesome & your voice is so soothing.
Dr. Grande, can you provide an analysis of the case of Lindsay Clancy thus far?
Could you look at the Haley Grace Phillips case?
Agreed... if they release 1, then both should be released.
I lived in Muskegon County for almost a year in 1988!
We have got to stop this violence towards grammar
"In addition to murdering grammar..." Classic!
Hello 👋 good Dr. Grande 😀 Double feature 👏 today. Thank you 😊 💓 ☺️ 💗 💛 💖
Hello Dr Grande ❤️....I see you have a little pooch peeking up in your advertisement.
I suspect we will soon see a video about her next criminal act outside of the prison.
And to think… she’s out there, walking around. Somewhere.
I wish I could be a fly on the wall, when this crime occurred, and see if there was a clear instigator.
uploaded 2 minutes ago? 🥰 hope you had a good evening, Dr. Grande! To anyone who hasn't checked out Dr. Grande's patreon, you are seriously missing out on great content (plus that episode of Mtv's Cribs featuring Dr. Grande)! And it's only $5 a month! I consider it priceless, though.
You really lived up to ur name with that comment! 😮
@@conspiracytherapist1869 swafford?
@@conspiracytherapist1869 what does giving bomb head have to do with my comment though?
@@nickyblue4866 hi! My last name is swafford, so why are you tagging the other person? This comment section is such a fucking mess.
Has Dr. Grande done a take on the murder of Yingying Zhang - curious to hear his take on it.
I would very much love to see you breakdown Tracy Newman's case!
😊
@@vcliburn Thank you:-)
he should be given parole also imo
"A fool and his money soon part ways." Is just victim blaming. If he were a woman you would not dare say something so cruel.
Thanks for another video! Also, have used Factor before and can verify how easy and yummy the meals are. Lots of love, Dr. Grande.❤🌵
Why do you have some many cacti? Cactuses? Cactomoly! Just speculating on a situation like this.
"Because of the murder part"
Can you do more "cold case" effects, flashbacks. It would help. Thanks
So, blame the victim?
@@pambennett3390 exactly. Such a terrible thing to do. We always always always always have to keep the perpetrator in clear sight.
Incredible story. I agree about the relative unfairness to the boyfriend. Thank you.
This man is a machine uploading daily.
How's his marriage bearing the weight of producing all these videos?
His ego gets massaged occasionally by commenters who enjoy his cold, perhaps cruel sense of humor. He comments on.others measly. He only, to my knowledge, points his finger and analyzes others. My 'autocorrect' fails once again. Sic. Sorry about this.
Dr. Grande you are the only professional that respects the Goldwater rule as you do UA-cam videos by marking your videos as speculation. And therefore you are the only one I take serious. There are so many psychologist that break that rule - especially during the Bryan Kohberger case that I would love to see them losing their academic titels. Makes me so mad watching them "analyzing a persona" they never met!
Have you read of the 19t7 kettlewell case, "8 day bride." She was so sadly set up:( and killed
Hey G ! How do you know the facto is'nt just "food" made out of people ?
WHY do these single mothers continually bring men in their homes over their children? This is a sad repetitive crime that happens to kids.
Don’t bring trash to your home!!!
There's the bunny 🐰 🧂 salt and pepper shakers. Oh, and the sweet doggy's face. The most wholesome ads in videos. ❤️
I am I bad person!? Because I almost choked to death on my coffee, laughing when you said well” mostly because of the murder part” I mean OMG!! why in the was that so fy()en funny to me!!!?!!!?? I 😞 feel bad! And it’s my b-day and I feel like a shitty person! Now!!! Great analysis as always!
What are c you doing up so late? BURNING the candle at both ends again?
I like the dog in the factor dinner pic
"Excessive conjunction deployment" made me choke on a dorito when I realized what he just said to us, dead as a pan
